Rate this book
A collection of magical fairy stories for young children and beginner readers, excellent for bedtime and independent reading.

One day Christina and her friends decide to play a game of “jump the hedge”, by trying to jump over a rose bush hedge without stumbling or knocking any petals off. They have made a bet that Christina will manage to jump the hedge successfully - but when Christina jumps the hedge, a single rose petal falls to the ground. So that her friends don’t notice and she will win the wager, Christina eats up the petal.

But the rosebush marks an entrance to the realm of the fairies so that means the bush is magical – and anyone who eats one of the petals will be blessed with a child. Sure enough, Christina falls pregnant and gives birth to a beautiful baby girl called Elizabeth, and Christina befriends some fairies who help to look after the baby, since Elizabeth has no father. However, when the day comes for the fairies to give the baby gifts, a bad tempered fairy puts a terrible curse on Elizabeth…
