Hope

Accosta, pronto a buttarmi fuori.

WOW. Hope and JR took me on a whirlwind ride. Bad luck has hit them both hard and they’re each trying to find a way to get up and keep moving forward. Hope has a dream she’s willing to fight to reclaim, while JR is fighting to reclaim his good name and reputation in life. When a chance meeting that almost results in wrecking Metallicar (think Baby in Supernatural), JR ends up with Hope as copilot on the adventure of their lives. Add in his brother, Scout, and we’re off!

I loved how this story flowed and how it made me not want to put it down. I laughed, I was so angry my hands shook, I wanted to cry, and my heart ached when it seemed like JR would truly come out the loser. But then Hope proved that she was so very appropriately named and helped to save the day.

My only complaint is that the story was finished too soon. I knew the end was coming, but I kept hoping that my progress bar was wrong and that I’d live in Hope’s and JR’s minds a little longer. Now I have to wait to see how Scout manages to turn his luck around!

Oh my gosh!!! This takes the meet cute to a whole new level!! Add in a grumpy hero who is seriously fighting what he’s feeling, and not doing a very good job of it, and you’ve got an amazing story!

5 Places to View the Golden Gate Bridge at Sunset | Inn San Francisco

I have been anxiously waiting for this book since I learned about it. JR had all the earmarks for a perfect hero. The fact that he was so imperfect made him more desirable in my mind. I loved the way he grumbled and groused. The way he glared and frowned. The way he turned away from Hope. And the way he fell in love with her. Gah!!! I absolutely adored everything about him!

Coronavirus outbreak at San Quentin prison - Los Angeles Times

Having an awesome hero means I don’t have to worry too much about the heroine. I usually don’t anyway because they don’t carry a lot of weight in whether I enjoy a book or not. However, when I’m given one that shines as bright as Hope did, I’m all over it. She was exactly what JR needed and I loved her more than I could imagine. I could feel her shine from within the pages of the book.

Vintage Road Test: 1967 Chevrolet Impala SS “Feels Like a Sports Car”

This was filled with so many emotions. I laughed at so many of the fun, quirky comments, moments and incidents that took place not just between JR and Hope but with Scout as well. My heart cracked one minute only to spring free in joy the next. I ooh’d and aww’d over the interactions between JR and his son as well as Hope and him. And when I grow old(er), I want to be like Gran. All of that and I didn’t even mention the crazy road trip, bad guys, hotel showers, and the kindle melting sizzle of chemistry between Hope and JR.

For a book I didn’t know about until a few months ago, this has become one of my top favorites for the year, if not for all time.

"Maybe we'll have the chance to try again, to see what a life would be like for a sunny girl and an angry boy with a scar. Maybe we'll fall in love. Maybe we already have..."

description

What a pleasant breath of fresh air! I ended up picking this title up on a whim due to the male narrator's voice sounding like fresh tires on a gravel road (hellooooo, Jason Clarke), and I am SO glad that I did! Everything about this delightful road trip was unexpected, and the subtle references to modern pandemic times felt realistic, yet still allowed me to escape from reality. I'm not sure if I would have come across this title if it hadn't been for Randi's Instagram review of this book, so thank you for that!

J.R. has just been released from prison for a crime he didn't commit, and is on his way to purchase a vehicle from hope, tenderly known as "metallicar", in a no-contact transaction. Unfortunately, Hope gets very drunk the night before and proceeds to fall asleep in the car, thus ending up on a road trip of revenge alongside a handsome stranger.

Part of what made this book so lovable were the secondary characters and extended family of J.R. and Scout, J.R.'s brother who is along for the road trip. I don't want to give any details away, but a big draw of the story is trying to figure out who set up J.R. and how to clear his name, and this portion of the story is 10 star worthy. Honestly, I've never read a lighter romance that had such an engaging mystery alongside of it. The beauty of the tale is how J.R. and Hope's portion of things is wrapped up nicely, but set up rather cleverly to continue Scout's story in book two, Twist of Fate: A small-town, friends-to-lovers, single-parent romance, where he reunites with his highschool girlfriend, Daisy. Daisy is apparently introduced in another book of Tia's called When We Touch, and another brief appearance is made by Stephen Hastings, who has his own book titled Stay. While I'm waiting for Scout's book, I'm definitely going to be diving into these.

"Love lights more fires than hate extinguishes."-Ella Wheeler Wilcox

The only thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars is simply that the romance between J.R. and Hope felt a little too insta-love for me taste. There is a small bit of tension and angst in the first 30%, but things quickly escalate to full blown in-love status after they have sex for the first time. I think if these two had a little slower burn leading up to sealing their relationship, I would have bought it hook, line, and sinker. If you're looking for a fun romp that is uplifting, engaging, and up with the times, definitely give This Much is True a try. It's available to borrow for free via Kindle Unlimited, but I highly recommend the audiobook, as it was such a fabulous experience.

O.M.G! Holy Molly! Have mercy!

While reading, my whole body ached and it felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest! My heart was racing, I gasped for air, my hands were shaking ... that’s what Hope and John’s story did to me!

This is not just a love story. No, it's a darn thriller too. What begins innocently as a road trip quickly becomes so much more, on so many levels.
All the characters are amazing, multi-layered, full of life, and I loved every single one of them (except John's father and Becky).
This book made me smile like a fool until my cheeks hurt. And it made me cry ugly tears because I felt so heartbroken. Then I felt like I was floating on cloud nine before I crashed down as hard as never before ...

This is the best book by Ms. Louise that I have read so far, and I don't know how it could be surpassed by any future book by her!

this was a solid, fun and emotional road trip romance—if you were willing to suspend your disbelief at some of the technical conveniences, like for example:

- how could you get into a car and not notice that there was someone (sleeping or otherwise) on the back seat?? ok, i guess this kind of things could happen.
- how about, what kind of idiot would sell their beloved car online without setting up a down payment?? i wish i had that much faith in humanity.
- or, i dont live in the US, but how long do you think $200 bucks would last you if you were taking a seven day road trip from San Francisco to North Carolina with three grown mouths to feed along the way?

so yeah, things like that and other instances.

the romance had an element of insta-love but it didnt feel like so to me (or if it did, then i didnt mind) because the MCs literally spent 24/7 together during the trip. so there was tension and decent build up. mostly, i think i just adored the Hs determination to clear his name (he was put in jail for 18 months because of a crime he didnt commit) and be the best dad for his son while making up for lost time.

there was a side character (the Hs brother, the next book is his) who really gave some lightheartedness to the story because otherwise it was rather heavy with emotions that made me wanna cry. also, this was the first book i read that was specifically set during the pandemic, and it was weird to say the least because i’d rather that aspect of the real world didnt bleed into my fiction.

other than that, i enjoyed the book to its fullest—even though i did skim the parts where the MCs werent on scenes together, but you dont need to know that.

She finds herself suddenly speeding down the highway with the sexiest man she's ever seen. He's also the rudest. When he's released early his top priority is to reclaim what he's lost. He's been wronged and is on a mission of revenge. Now he's headed to his hometown to make things right before he can have a fresh start. Then he gets a surprise he didn't see coming when he discovers a beautiful blonde woman stowed away in his backseat. He doesn't have time for any distractions, but soon their stuck together driving across the country. As a bond forms and they grow closer, will they still part ways when they reach their final destination? Will a second chance or a broken heart be waiting at the end of their journey?

This Much Is True by Tia Louise is a grumpy single dad, standalone romance where opposites attract and ignite as we get a sexy love story full of angst, emotion, hope, humor, and sizzling chemistry. It's about a man's journey of redemption, and the girl he can't leave behind. A heartwarming story about two people starting over from scratch in need of a second chance. I really enjoyed this book, and loved the secondary characters as well. It was a fabulous, exciting read packed with adventure!

I always feel like it’s a special day when I receive an ARC from the talented Tia Louise!!! I have been reading her books for awhile now and I end up loving them all!

This book was a heartwarming and adventurous story of a single Dad and a fun loving young woman who meet under funny circumstances and end up taking a road trip together that brings them closer together! I loved JR and Hope, and how they complimented each other. Hope was so optimistic and she was able to slowly stomp out JR’s gruff and grumpy interior!! I do have to admit though, JR’s brother, Scout; made this story so much more entertaining! I fell in love with him and I am very excited that he will be getting his own book!!

As with all Tia’s stories, I found this to be a fun loving, adventurous, and sexy wild ride! There is something about road trip stories that tickle my fancy!😂 I definitely needed a story like this during these stressful times.
I highly recommend this story, and it comes out on December 14/20!!!

Thank you so much Tia Louise for gifting me a copy of your book! It was a real treat for me as always!🥰❤️

Road Trip ✔️
Humorous ✔️
Loyalty ✔️
Angst ✔️
Slow-burn romance✔️

Okay....this book had everything, needed to create an ideal romance-fiction about a grumpy single dad on a mission of revenge, and a sunshine female character he can’t leave behind. It was snarky, full of quick-witted banter, and spitfire all rolled into one package. I really enjoyed this rollercoaster ride. If anyone wanted to read something light after the heavy series, it fits perfectly!

**This fresh and original story didn't get 5 stars from me only for that misfit cover.

This is JR and Hope’s story. JR is a grumpy single dad who is determined to clear his name and get his son back, and Hope is strong and determined and not in a good place, and these two are total opposites, who end up on a road trip together. This is a well written story which is filled with chemistry, witty banter, angst, humour, and fun, which all leads to an enjoyable and steamy read. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend for all.

I was attracted to the roadtrip side of this but the instalust was too much, come on, in love within the first week when he tried to leave you by the side of the road barefoot when he first met you? Yep, he sounds like a gentleman to me.

Am I still curious about Scout's book? You can bet your ass I am. Because I'm a masochist like that 💅

I devoured this book! It is so good I read it in one sitting! It has humor, amazing banter, all the feelings, and of course the steamy goodness every good romance novel needs. JR has of course been added to my ever growing list of book boyfriends. He was grumpy and surly, but he was also soft loving and gentle. His son Jesse just stole my heart. Hope is strong and resilient, and certainly never gave up on what she wanted in every way. I do have to say I’m glad JR’s ex wasn’t written in the book more because no fictional character deserves a brick to her face more than Becky. She’s just awful! This book is just so so good and a must read! Definitely recommend it!

4 'Hope eternal' Stars!
ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

My first book by the lovely Tia Louise and certainly not my last! I've had many of Tia's novels in my Goodreads TBR list for the longest time and I don't know why I never got to read them. Well, I was lucky enough to be contacted by Tia herself when she asked me if I wanted to read her new upcoming novel and I was all over the idea as soon as I read the blurb! Tia has also worked with one of my favorite authors, Ilsa Madden-Mills, so I was definitely excited and curious to start the journey of reading a new style and a new-to-me author.

This Much is True is Tia's newest novel and it can be read as a standalone, even though now it has become the first in her new series called Taking Chances. This is the love story between Hope and J.R., two people with complete opposite lives that happen to just clash together in the most unexpected way and in a world that is still facing this terrible pandemic. J.R. just got out of prison, where he was there for a crime he did not commit. He is ready to face the truth and find his way back to his son. Enter Hope, the woman who has lost her way of income and happens to be hangover in the car J.R. just bought. A strange road trip starts and sparks start flying.

Hope Eternal Hill is light and pure, and I can’t be the black storm that smashes all her dreams with my quest for revenge.

This novel is like a huge warm hug, which I think is very much needed right now. This Much is True features two main characters that do not have it easy but do not give up. J.R. and Hope start on the wrong foot but that does not stop chemistry getting in the way. A beautiful connection grows in their road trip together with Scout (J.R.'s brother) and it grows even stronger when J.R. finally reunites with his adorable son. And you all know I am a sucker for a good single-dad romance and Tia Louise did a wonderful job with this one! I loved this couple, seeing the tension and the chemistry between them and seeing their love grow as a couple and as a family. This is the kind of book I am always in the mood for because it left me so happy after finishing it!

It’s a promise of hope and of a future. It’s a promise born of hardship and refusing to let go.
It’s a promise that says this much is true… I’ll never let you go.

Therefore, I am rating This Much is True with 4 STARS because this moving romance got to me in the best way and made me fall in love with Tia's writing. I loved these characters, the relationships developed between them and the burning connection between J.R. and Hope. I am so happy these two and Jeese got their happy ending and I am even happier that Tia is turning this into series and she is writing Scout's story now. Wohooo! As I said, my first book from this author but it will sure not be my last one.

What a sweet and well written story.
There is something compelling about this author's writing; I can't put my finger on it, but I felt warm and fuzzy all the time, reading it. Her characters were real and imperfect and relatable. The way the hero melted and grew throughout the story; they way the heroine overcame her unlucky streaks and started believing in the universe again.
She's velvet and sugar and spice. She's hot liquid and warm depths. She's my best fantasy come to life.

I loved all those little hippie/Buddhist wisdoms from herone's father.
"...how do you know when it's time to make a change and when you're going in the wrong direction?"
"That's easy." His smile drifts through the line. "You'll know the change is good when you feel calm. You'll know it's right when you have peace in your heart."

Oh, and the hero's son? Damn, that relationship was so beautiful and sweet, I cried a couple of times.

I was surprised to read about the elements of the pandemics here, those daily little details that made 2020 into what it was. There were a couple too convenient moments toward the end, but I'm gonna completely ingnore them, because the rest made me warm inside.

It was my first book by the author and also my first BR with lovely Leila, and both were great winners!

Hope is devastated she has to sell her dad's beloved Metallicar (yay Supernatural reference!!!), so she decides to take one last trip down memory lane and plop herself down in the backseat with a *ahem* bottle of something. When she wakes up to an angry driver telling her to get out of the car...yeah, not what she expected when she fell asleep the night before. Thank God that angry driver, a delicious looking man going by the name of John, has an equally sweet, kind-hearted brother, Scout, who can't bear to leave her alone on the side of the road without any way of getting home, so the three of them set off on a road trip. Along the way, feelings will be exposed, and somehow Hope will live up to her name and offer J.R. some light in what has previously been a very dark world since he was sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit.

"She fills a part of me I didn't know I was lacking. The sunshine in her hair, the sparkle in her eyes, all of it turns the anger in my chest to peace. She changed me."

Swoon! J.R. and Hope made me swoon with their road trip that ended so differently than it began. Their opposite natures - he so broody and intense and she so sunny and bright, they fit each other so perfectly, and with Scout and J.R.'s reason for living - a perfect little family. I love This Much is True. It's sweet and sexy, the perfect road trip romance, and now I'm dying to read Scout's story!!

I love this story so much! I completely devoured it. Such a great storyline. JR is released from jail & is on a mission to see his son and get answers. He unexpectedly finds a copilot during his road trip- Hope. JR struggles to get justice for himself & not drag Hope into his mess. This story tugged a my heartstrings. JR's relationship with his brother & son were so wonderful. His brother, Scout, and his Gran had me laughing out loud. This book is the perfect combination of emotional, heartfelt, humor, & love. Plus, pretty steamy too 😉 Definitely suggest adding this to your TBR!

She makes me want to pull the car over and wrap her in my arms, bury my face in her hair, and just breathe.

This book blurb had me at grumpy single dad. What? I have a type okay?! I just happen to like them grumpy...and fresh out of prison. Stop judging! He was wrongly accused. But I digress.

This was a very sweet and heartwarming romance. In full honesty, it did take me a little to get into, but that may have more to do with my book mood lately than anything else. I used to be able to fly through books, and now I just drag ass no matter what I'm reading. But I digress again.

J.R. is out of prison early and out for revenge against whoever landed him in there. He's eager to get home to his son and prove his innocence once and for all. Hope is reeling on the loss of her business and figuring out what comes next. In a drunken blur, she falls asleep in the back of her beloved car that she had to sell to make ends meet, and wakes up the next day in the middle of a road trip with a very grumpy man.

I have to say, I really enjoyed the way that our new COVID reality was so subtly handled in this book. While the author never full out references it, the reality of it is there nonetheless. There's reference to masks and travel restrictions. It's also the reason why Hope's restaurant ultimately went under.

J.R. has no desire to have an additional passenger, but his brother ultimately convinces him to bring Hope along. I have to say his brother, Scout, was one of the best things about this book for me. He was one of the best secondary characters I've read in a while and I can't wait for his book. He was the comedic relief and the voice of reason and I loved him.

Admittedly, I did struggle to find a connection to JR and Hope. I just didn't connect with their romance as much as I had hoped. I can't quite put my finger on exactly why, but even though all the things were there, it just didn't quite do it for me. I loved them as individual characters, but I just didn't fully connect with them as a couple.

Aside from that, I did enjoy this. I loved the road trip and the secondary story glimpse for Scout. I'm certainly hooked enough to want to read his book next. As a matter of fact I'm eagerly anticipating it.

This Much is a great forced Proximity novel. If you’re looking for sweet, well-written, and with strong main characters, this is for you.

Hope wakes up as a passenger with no shoes or money. Hungover from the night before and lands on a road trip with JR and his brother Scout. There is an instant attraction between JR and Hope. However, JR has some things he needs to straighten out first before moving forward. Poor JR was sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit, and it seems he can’t catch a break. His father is a selfish man, and his ex-wife is a witch. Hope is a sweetheart but doesn’t take that for granted; she is also strong and knows what she wants.

JR convention broke my heart. Yes, this is a fictional book. But he didn’t do the crime. Unfortunately, it happens every day in the real world. So kudos to the author for touching on this subject of our broken system. End rant

As usual, I love the author's writing style. She takes us on a journey, and you feel like you are in the car with them. The three of them are a dynamic trio. It definitely changed the life of all three of them as much as I love JR and Hope. Scout is a hoot and the grandmother. The ending was perfect for Scout's book.

This is my first book by Tia Louise and I really enjoyed her writing style.
Usually I go into a new book/author completely blinded, or after checked out a bunch of friends reviews and blurbs. This one I've gone blind.

So the first impression was of a dreamer girl (Hope), trying to figure it out what to do next with her life, after the pandemic world (I'll talk about that later) crushes her dream restaurant... and a convicted (but framed) ex-con (John), who's out of jail for 5 minutes but already in route for revenge.

One is a strain of light in the darkness, and the other is the darkness seeking for a strain of light and hope.

They literally crash into each other, while he's driving out of town, with her sleeping in the backseat of the car. It was funny but I hated him for trying to dump her barefoot, in the middle of the road!
But then they're on a road trip across the country, with his little brother Scout (which I loved), and they have 3 days to really know each other, until his final destination.

He's so grumpy and she's so sweet, that you can't see them as a couple... She was more like Scout's type, because he was all positiveness and good mood, but the pull between her and John were something almost palpable, and I was rooting for them to let go of their trust issues, and dive into each other!

So many things happens between them, and it was a really intense ride!
Hope was everything that John dreamed, but in the wrong moment of his life! My heart broke for him and his son! And I loved that the little guy was always his first priority, but I also hated that he was the one to send her away, each time that things got hard or hopeless.

I really enjoyed this book, and although I was avoiding all the quarantine/pandemic books like the plague, (I've had enough of that shit IRL), I can say that their journey was really worth it, and I loved how their HEA came.
A little bit of Fate between them, and now I can't wait for Scout's book!

Also there's a special place in hell for people like his ex-wife and his father!
They can burn together, for all I care.

This Much is True takes readers on an adventure and I loved it for that. J.R is traveling cross country to get back to his son after too long apart. His plan is to drive nonstop with the help of his brother, Scout, to make it back home in 3 days. What he didn't plan on was Hope unintentionally stowing away in the car after drinking a little too much and deciding it was a great place to sleep.

I thought this was such a fun story to read and some of the things J.R, Hope, and Scout got up to had me laughing like a crazy person. I especially loved Scout who really kept things interesting and definitely helped give J.R the push he needed towards Hope. Hope and J.R were both a little down on their luck but I thought their attitudes about it were great and neither of them were ready to give up. I also loved that Hope was definitely the fun one out of the two and we got to see her bring out some of fun in J.R.

Overall, I thought this was a great book to read and going on the journey with these characters was amazing. I will say I'm still not fully sure how I feel about some of the pandemic happenings being included just because I've been pretty adamant since the beginning that I didn't want to read anything about Covid. But Tia did keep it light with the mentions of it and by the end of the book nothing changed my feelings on how much I liked the characters.

Hope and JR are a couple destined to be together. When she sells her father's car being at the end of her rope financially and JR buys it, she winds up as an unknowing passenger. While he tries to get her to leave, his consciousness wont let him. The adventure they embark on can only be set in these modern times but the current situation doesnt overpower the story. Clearing his name is the second priority only to seeing his son for JR. Traveling acroos counrty is risky for him but its the only way. Hope has lost her dream and has lost her hope. Changing her destiny is possible but she cant see or hear what lies ahead. I adored Hope. Even though she cant see her own future, she winds up a light for JR. She also knows what she wants from life and love. JR cant see his future either, not until he rights the wrongs. The trip they take might be ordinary but the journey they travel is monumental. JR's brother Scout is so awesome as well. His story intrigues me and i cant wait for it!

USA Today bestselling author, Tia Louise has become one of my new favorite authors! With This Much Is True Louise delivers a deliciously hot tale of a desolate single dad who lost everything and the optimistic woman he meets on the way to get his life back.

Graphic by Michelle Heard

This much is true, John Roth (J.R.) Dunne did not commit the crime he was convicted of, but after two years he’s been released and is now determined to get the evidence he needs to clear his name, get his son, and start fresh.

J.R. just needs a car and his brother’s help to drive from California to South Carolina. What he doesn’t need is a beautiful stowaway with a sweet and innocent smile and unlimited hope.
"She made me have faith again. She’s my hope."

Hope Eternal Hill was about to open a gourmet pancake restaurant, but with the global pandemic shutdown her dreams and investment went down the drain and now she needs to sell her father’s car to get money. When she passed out drunk in the back seat, she never imagined she’s wake up halfway between San Francisco and LA with a gorgeous yet surly man who want to leave her on the side of the road.

When J.R. picks Scout, his brother up, Scout insists Hope go with them and the three embark on a road trip of karmic proportion that will change their lives forever.
Web-Photo-Editor Sometimes in the waves of change, we find our true direction.”

When reading romance, a happy ending for the main characters is implied, therefor the journey to get there is rather important. John and Hope’s journey both romantic and cross-country is not smooth sailing. John has big hurdles to overcome in order to get his life back and the ice walls around his heart are equally great. Yet Hope is incredibly patient and caring, and isn’t afraid to make to first move which I loved.
Web-Photo-Editor Curling my fingers in her hair, I guide her lips to mine for one more hit of my new favorite drug. It’s soft and sweet, with the faintest hint of whiskey.”

Besides enjoying the push and pull and evolving romance between Hope and John and their incredible attraction (Tia writes incredibly hot bedroom scenes and swoon), there were so many other great elements I enjoyed like the supporting characters. John’s brother Scout is a great comedy relief and a loving and supporting younger brother I can’t wait to read more about. His son is source of joy and incredibly sweet. His grandmother is also funny and caring.
Web-Photo-Editor Her body presses against mine. It’s magnetism and chemistry and friction. It’s all the elements coming together. It’s completion.”

I loved the twist I didn’t see coming. I liked the scenery that was described appropriate to road trip. I also appreciated all the positive thinking and hopeful messages which are always welcome, but especially during this very “interesting” year.
Web-Photo-Editor I am strong enough to face what’s in front of me. My life isn’t over, and I never give up without a fight…"

This Much Is True is a standalone contemporary romance by Tia Louise. It is narrated in first person, from both points of view with a happy ending. Sub-Genres: Opposites attract| Single Dad

JR and Hope made such a special place for themselves in my heart.
They're both in their own headspace when fate throws them together. The last thing they're looking for is love, but that never stops cupid, does it? ;)
Single dads are my favorite heroes, especially grumpy ones who don't have time for love.
Hope is perfection with her determination, her optimism, and her ability to go for what she wants.
Scout (JR's brother) is the icing on the cake... SO hilarious... >.<
I hope you love these guys as much as I do.
TMIT is angsty and funny and steamy and so so satisfying.

4 hope eternal stars!

This was my first time reading a book that takes place during our current [Covid] pandemic. In a weird way it was a bit surreal to be reading about it because for the last year my reading has been to escape the stresses of quarantine. But I digress…

This was a tender, heartwarming story of two broken people coming together in such an unexpected way and melding into each other’s lives.
JR: Staring out across the dark waters, I make a vow. I’m getting back everything I’ve lost.
Hope: I’m not going down without a fight. I will turn this sinking ship around. I will get back what we’ve lost.

JR, fresh out of prison, trying to find his redemption and clear his name. Hope, having just lost everything thanks to the pandemic, trying to find her purpose again. The healing and strength they found in each other was lovely. I loved the development of both JR’s and Hope’s relationship, though it did feel a bit instant-love and I wish that there was a bit more of a slow burn.
“I wonder how my life would be different now if I’d gone into the house instead of climbing in the backseat of this car that night.”

There were some wonderful secondary characters as well. Sweet, little Jesse, JR’s son, was adorable and I will admit to have shed some tears with a few of his scenes. Grandma Alice (GA) was the feisty, caring grandmother we all want to have. And last but not least, JR’s brother, Scout, who I have to say was my favourite character in the whole book and I’m excited to read his story when it is released later this month.

A special ‘Thank you!’ to the lovely Lana for our first BR together. I loved every single one of our conversations that came from this read.

This is my first book by Tia Louise, and I really enjoyed it! I think I went through all the emotions while reading this one. It's the story of a girl named Hope who wakes up as a passenger on a road trip that she wasn't prepared for. JR had just been released from prison for a crime he didn't commit, and him and his brother Scout head out west to go find Jr's son. Because she doesn't have much of a choice, Hope goes along for the ride. Her and JR grow super close, but he's got a lot of road blocks in his way before he can make a commitment to her.

This poor guy, my GOD. Not only was he locked up for a crime he didn't commit, but he's got an ex-wife that sucks balls (not in a good way), A dad that is a total selfish piece of shit, he's across the country from his son, and he's got a shitty parole officer who wants to put him away for good. His only hope is his girl, Hope.

I loved these two and their dynamic. Hope was a super sweetheart and had such a crush on JR from the jump. It was adorable, the way she was making moon-eyes at him all the time and pushing him to accept that he deserved good in his life. They were totally hot together, and the end of the story is so fucking sweet I almost couldn't take it.

Now I'm gonna get serious for just a sec...

The story of JR's wrongful conviction really touched my heart and had me seething. This is just a topic that I feel so strongly about, and have spent so much time learning over the years. The moment you're pegged as a criminal, the entire justice system gets behind convicting you, and it doesn't matter if you're innocent or not. Once you're in the system, there are SO many ways that your life can be ruined... it's tragic. JR's story sucks, but it ends on a good note. There are tons of people who aren't so lucky. I don't wish that this book went into more detail about that, because then it wouldn't really be a romance. So I accept that things were pretty easy for him, comparatively. Still not easy, mind you. But it's shocking how slow all of this would happen in the real world, if it happened at all.

(Inserting shameless plug for The Innocence Project, an organization that is doing amazing work for the wrongfully convicted.)

Okay, good. Got that off my chest. Seriousness over!

This Much Is True, sizzles with steamy chemistry! Forging ahead to find answers and to reclaim what he holds dear, J.R. 's plans take a startling turn when he discovers an unwanted stowaway , Hope. United they set forth on a journey to face their challenges, take risks, believe in one another, seek justice, and build love and a family. An enjoyable read! We are eagerly anticipating Scout’s story!

Tia has outdone herself once again!!! JR and Hope are epic together! I’ve been dying for a road trip romance and TMIT ticked all of my boxes.
JR… SWOOOOON!!! He’s hot and broody – a man on a mission.
Hope is bubbly and someone I’d love as a friend.

During the road trip, these two opposites are thrown together and they take us on a journey I wish I could be a part of. TMIT was food for my soul.

CONFOUNDNG LOGIC – STORY GOT LOST IN THE WEEDS

What are reviewers reading that so many obvious flaws are overlooked? Rather than fall in love with a new-to-me author, I was stunned by gaps of logic and execution issues. This thing read like scatter shot.
Sadly, love floundered in a road trip story filled with absurd logic. In the most ludicrous set-up ever, newly paroled JR, his younger bro Scout, and flighty Hope Eternal Hill wind up on a road trip together to the East Coast. With his brother riding shotgun, JR risks parole violation for a quick visit to his young son Jesse (5), before rushing back home to clear his name by proving his innocence of the frame-up that sent him to prison. JR’s the pretend buyer of the car, and Hope is the seller. Not much else makes a lick of sense.

JR was an online buyer and never met Hope before picking up the car and discovering down the road that she’s a drunk stowaway asleep in the back seat. A long-short story not worth mentioning. JR’s on a timeline so she’s stuck with the brothers on their journey, without a purse or cash. No problem. JR’s got $200, and amused Scout plays referee to the bickering couple. Sounds good, huh? I was all in until the wheels fell off this cart with one gaffe after another. Here’s some of the crazy issues:

Nothing made believable sense in this story, and the romance wasn’t memorable against all that nonsense. JR’s frame-up, trekking cross-country on a parole violation fresh out of prison and risking that freedom for a visit with his kid was so absurd. Like his dad marrying his son’s ex. None of it was key to the plot. What a family. You'd think that JR would have been nicer to Hope, considering he conned her into using the car for free.

Frankly, this is one of the dumbest books I’ve ever read and I sure hope it’s not indicative of the author’s other books. The writing style is engaging enough and the concept of a road trip about two strangers finding love and the answers they seek is a good one. But, the execution issues from gaps of logic and story flaws, as well as flitting between scenes without necessary transitions, and flying off on a few tangents, then using time gaps when things don’t make sense or flow, was all too much. Most of what we learn either makes no sense or isn’t important. The book reads like a really rough draft. Not sure about reading this author again.

3.5 stars. The grumpy sunshine trope??? The road trip romance?? The drama between his father and his bitchy ex-wife?? Loved it. What I didn't like was that the ending got too messy and it dragged far too long. An angsty read because our hero is an ex-convict and you know that things always go sour with these characters.

Adventure, suspense, angst and swoon moments ♥️

This was a nice surprise! A thrilling journey of a man on a quest to clear his name and see his son again after being put in jail and a woman that is lost, but still keeps hope.
I loved the fact that the author included nowadays problems, like the impact of covid in everyone's lives.
Hope Eternal Hill ( cool name huh ?) and JR cannot have more different and opposite lives. But they clash together in an unexpected way, and although he is a grumpy ass at the beginning of their journey, they do manage to stick together until the end. The chemistry between this two characters is strong and I longed for them to be together and to solve their issues. The Hero is a broody, grumpy man on the outside , but a big softie on the inside and I just wanted to give him a huge hug.
Plot wise, this book is more romantic suspense, we have the man who should be in jail still on the loose , and JR, his brother and Hope trying to get to him so they can clear JR name.

Why 4 stars? I felt that sometimes Hope was a bit naive and clueless, and JR should have fought harder for them.

Overall, a sweet love story that shouldn't be missed.
