The Moon Sends Her Love is a poetry book about grief. No matter what type of grief you are experiencing, this book will make you feel seen and heard. The Moon Sends Her Love is perfect to read when you are only feeling and seeing darkness, to remind you that no matter how dark the night seems, or if you can’t see the light, the moon is always sending her love to you.
No matter how grim life may be right now, you are not alone. You will make it. I believe in you
Tomorrow I know I’ll feel better and stronger… maybe. But today, for no special reason at all, I really miss my baby.
A highly specific book of poetry I hope no one I know ever has to read, but if you know, you know. I felt incredibly known and seen. It helped me so much. I’m really grateful the author shared her pain.
I had the absolute pleasure of receiving the first drafts of this beautiful and gut wrenching work of art. Me and Cheyenne discussed every single poem in it, added notes on what fits and what doesn't, brainstormed for future additions. This is a poetry collection that Chey has put months of work into, months of her sorrow and fears and pain and I'm so impressed with how she chiseled away at something and took on constructive critiques to make an absolute masterpiece.
This collection reflects on greif, and it hits hard. It made me sob because it is such an accurate depiction of how ugly and horrific the feeling can be (much akin to "dark blue waves" exploration of depression). There wasn't a single poem in here that felt lacklustre. A single poem out of place. A word that had no meaning. No shallow fillers or attempts at depth that wasn't there. It is raw, it is powerful, and it feels as though you're staring down a mirror into your own spiralling pain.
I will never not reccomend the absolutely beautiful work Chey produces, I will support her til I explode in adoration, she is a wonderful and bright and beautiful woman who I ADORE!
6 days ago I was told my baby had no heartbeat. 3 days ago I had surgery to remove my baby. This book captured everything I am feeling but also gave me comfort as another reminder I am not alone. The perfect book for my grief.
I miscarried during my first pregnancy with twins and while I read The Miscarriage Map about how to take steps to get through the grief I felt, if I would have known about this book during that time this book would have not left my side. Reading this tonight made me not feel so alone in my grief.
This book validates how hard it is when you're feeling sad, and has the words make you feel better. If you're dealing with grief in your own life, this book is like a good friend that helps you feel not so alone. It was just what I needed.
I’ve read a lot of poetry recently but this has been one of my favorites. If you love poetry, need a good cry, or are dealing with grief this is the perfect book :)
