Sweet Alps Mates #2

His Bratty Omega

Rate this book
Wade Monroe

My whole life I unapologetically believed in fairy tales and fated mates. I waited – impatiently - for the day my mate would appear and sweep me off my feet. Turns out Fate has a wicked sense of humor. The second my hand brushed his, I knew Finn was my mate... and my stomach turned. I'm unicorns and sunshine. He's stern scowls and a monotone fashion sense.

Sure, he's insanely hot. That doesn't change the fact that we are polar opposites and can’t stand one another. We spent years pointedly ignoring each other, fighting against the magnetic desire that sizzled between us.

Until that one explosive night...

Now, I’m carrying his child and trying to figure out how to co-parent with the man I alternately despise and long for.

Finn Sinclair

I never believed in Fated Mates until the day I met my brother’s newest assistant. The world shifted as I peered into the eyes of a man who reminded me of a thousand, brightly lit firecrackers.

The bratty, gorgeous sub pushed every one of my buttons – as a man, an alpha, and a Dom. We agreed to ignore the pull between us, and that plan worked for years. Until the night we gave in and my world exploded.

He annoyed me to no end, while somehow making my soul feel complete. How can I focus on successfully co-parenting, while lusting after him every second I spend in his presence?

This is book two of the Sweet Alps Mates series, but all can be read as standalone. Characters from previous books will pop in, but it is not necessary to have read book one. This is an enemy to lovers story that includes age gap, hurt/comfort, fated mates, mpreg, knotting, some D/s, and a HEA.

Raiven Matthews

Raiven Matthews lives in the Mid-West, with her very spoiled cat, Declan. An avid reader from a young age, she discovered MM romance while reading fan fiction, and never looked back. Her days are fueled by lots of coffee and cuss words, and often plots her books on her commute to her RL job. She has always believed in happily-ever-after, but she was always the girl with follow-up questions. What happened when Cinderella put on that shoe and rode off to the castle? What came after Beast turned into a handsome prince? While she loves when her characters fall in love, she also believes in sprinkling in a big dose of reality, and real-life situations, (even if she is writing omegaverse mpreg) to get there.

DNF @20% - no rating

Attempting to read this one when I rated book 1 a measly 2 stars was a terrible idea, but hope springs eternal.

On top of every other trope (shifters, alpha/omega, opposites attract, enemies-to-lovers), the author decided to throw BDSM into the mix. Dear god, why??

Not to be snarky, but ... nah, I'm gonna be snarky.

The editing issues in this and the first book aren't typos. They are ERRORS, grammatical errors.

If you don't understand the difference between a plural and a possessive, perhaps you shouldn't be publishing books. Just a thought.

With some exceptions (e.g., mouse, mice), in English, a plural is formed by adding S:

One cat, two cats

One Sinclair, four Sinclairs

An apostrophe S (or S apostrophe for plural possessive) is used to show possession:

This is Finn Sinclair's car.

The brothers all live on this land, which is the Sinclairs' property.

I have just one parent, and this is my parent's house.

I have three parents, and this is my parents' house.

This is basic grammar. The author should be embarrassed.

⭐︎ 4.5 "Bratty" Stars Rounded Up! ⭐︎

Another great installment in this series. I love that, overall, the writing is so well done and while the mpreg doesn't happen right away, it feels like enough time is given to it and it isn't just an afterthought, which I love.

Is it a tad long winded at times? Yes. Sometimes I wish some of their inner monologues would be cut short - this happened with the first book as well - and is there some typos here and there, or a misplaced comma? Yes. But overall I don't mind too much, and thankfully the grammatical errors weren't too common or egregious, so for the most part I could let that go.

I do wish the shifter part of these books would be more focused on, and in this I guess it just got to me - maybe I should have given .5 off for the first one as well, for the lack of focus on the shifter part of it, but oh well - and I guess I just don't get why them being shifters is a part of this if they barely shift.

There were some parts with their shifters in this, as with the first one, but it was more of an afterthought.

But, despite those few niggles, and my reason for my .5 stars off, I really enjoyed this a lot.

I really liked Wade and Finn's chemistry, and their biting back and forth at first was really fun. They really felt like enemies to lovers, as they had "hated" each other for a good 5 years prior to the start of this, and the first part of this story as well.

Of course, once they get over themselves long enough to really get to know one another, their hatred drops fairly quickly, although I liked that it didn't happen instantly, it was more of a gradual process.

Of course, before they start to let down their walls around each other, their underlying UST explodes at Quinn and Lachlan's wedding reception, and they end up having sex in Finn's car on the side of the road.

Which leads to a surprise pregnancy, which these two former enemies must now deal with, together.

And maybe learn how to stop hating each other and start seeing each other for the who the other really is. As they are fated mates, after all.

They've tired their hardest to resist that fact, but can't do it anymore. And as misunderstandings come to light, these two start to see each other, really see each other, for the first time.

The sex, of course, was hot as well. They have a D/s relationship where Finn is the Dom and Wade is the sub.

It isn't featured as heavily as it could have been, but with Wade being pregnant for a good portion of the story, they had to hold off on the more rigorous parts of BDSM during the duration.

But there were some scenes of BDSM between them, especially a good spanking scene. But before they really get together, there is a scene where so a Trigger Warning for that.

Also

Mostly, this story was about the going from enemies to lovers. From hating each other to loving each other.

It was done really well, and I definitely recommend this installment. Even if there wasn't as much BDSM as one might want, the sex was still scorching between these two.

I'm definitely intrigued to read Brendan's story, who is the second oldest of the quadruplets. He's been the most quiet and reserved of the brothers, so it'll be nice to get into his head and learn more about him. It will be Daddy/little kink, which I'm not opposed to reading, so I'm excited to get into it.

Onto the next!

My Ratings for the Sweet Alps Mates Series:

⭐︎ His Sassy Omega: 5 stars (my review)
⭐︎ His Bratty Omega: 4.5 stars
⭐︎ His Precious Omega: Currently Reading

Okay so wow i loved that book actually a bit more than the first book, the story about Wade and Finn just really got me hooked.
This book did absolutely not disappoint i had such a good time while reading it. It was a rollercoaster of emotions and it had everything, it was emotional, sweet, hilarious, angsty and kinky.
I also really enjoyed that we got to explore more the BDSM side of their relationship even if it wasn’t the main focus here

My favorite of the series so far, but I had a feeling it would be. Wade and Finn are the definition of enemies-to-lovers which is my absolute favorite trope. From the sexual tension and underlying chemistry to the polar opposite personalities, I couldn't get enough of Wade and Finn.

Meet-cute these two did not have. More like Wade meet Finn's resting b*tch face, which sets the tone for 5 years of animosity. While Fate has claimed them as mates, both Wade and Finn fight against it saying Fate got it wrong. And I won't lie, I was skeptical about these two. Wade is a front of sunshine, rainbows, unicorns, technicolor with an underlying fear of rejection and abandonment. While Finn is browns, beige, boring, rigid, strict, and basically needs to let loose. While these two shouldn't work, they really do.

The sexual tension between them is palpable, they aren't lacking in the bedroom; it's emotionally where they seem to be a mess. I really liked how this story progressed. Wade and Finn both grew leaps and bounds and their first date...I was the definition of heart-eyed emoji. Wade brings life and excitement to Finn's dull world and Finn grounds Wade's endless energy. The relationship was delightful to watch play out.

I adored that the banter between these two was the most delicious form of foreplay and the when they finally get things right between them, it had me positively giddy. And this book clearly had some BDSM sprinkled throughout which usually doesn't work for me but Raiven Matthews navigated it perfectly. I think the only critique I have is there are inner monologues throughout the story that go on for several pages every time that could have been edited out. They don't contribute to the story and just take me out of an otherwise captivating scene/moment. Otherwise, another great installment and I am off to book 3.

Well, this author sure likes her push and pull/enemies to lovers trope.

I do like the writing style and these brothers are amazing. But I've never liked push and pull.

(There is some BDSM in this, but honestly it's not much.)

His Bratty Omega
By Raiven Matthews

Omega Wade is a snarky man with a flair for colored hair, colored nails, and an unending supply of unicorn shirts and yoga pants. 🦄 What most people don't see is the broken and sad part of him that he keeps hidden away. Wade spent his childhood being put down and criticized by his father and ignored by his parents. When he moved out, he vowed he would never apologize for who he is or put up with anyone who criticizes the way he lives his life again and that includes his sexy, but very grumpy, rude, and distant fated mate, Finn.

I adored Wade. He's just so unique. I could feel his pain every time someone criticized him or was disappointed in him. Especially when it was Finn. I really liked Finn, too. While he's just as guilty as Wade when it comes to being rude and nasty to each other, Finn is also misunderstood. I loved the Sinclair family dynamics and that Wade had already been accepted into the family by the other brothers.

This is the first book I've read by this author, and I can't wait to read more. I should have started with book 1 of this series, but the blurb for book 2 interested me a lot more. So I'll be going back to read 1, especially as book 3 will soon be coming out. Brendan's book is next, but it's Jamie's book I really want to read. I have a feeling this series will be in my reread bookshelf and quite possibly may move up my absolute favorites bookshelf if the rest of the books are as good as this one. I can't wait to read them.

Note To Author: The name of the game is Skee-Ball, not Ski Ball. 😉

His Bratty Omega is Wade and Finns story. Wade has always wanted a fairy tale ending, he’s glitter and unicorns full of sass and snark. He’s also Quinn’s best friend who we met in His Sassy Omega. Finn is one of the Sinclair Alphas and he’s also Wade’s fated mate. These two terrorize each other with their verbal bashing, but there’s also a metric ton of chemistry that threatens to steam up the pages. They were sooo much fun to read, that I couldn’t put the story down. I read until 2:30 in the morning, who needs sleep anyway??? Overall, a fantastic read!! The story was well written and kept me engaged, the pacing just flowed!!! Highly recommend!

Y'all I friggin loved His Bratty Omega. I think even more than His Sassy Omega. Fated Mates, but it's not insta love and that's what I love about Raiven Matthews. The pairs have to get there on their own. Fate may have been a part, but it's still a choice...even when they eventually decide that yep Fate was right. Wade absolutely stole the book in His Sassy Omega and I couldn't wait to get his and Finn's story. Like eagerly awaiting to see how these two get their HEA. And I was not disappointed.

Wade is hilarious (I mean...the first date where he's talking about the other dudes ding dong. I cackled so hard my sister Kool-Aid Manned into my room to see what all the excitement was about.) And what I absolutely loved is that despite Wade being so bratty and over the top and Finn being frustrated by all his brightness, they could talk like two adults and you could watch them fall in love. Because sometimes in Fated Mates stories it's just like FAAATTTEEEE and they don't talk about things and it's all problematic and stuff, but here it took them a hot second... bc mind blowing sex is a thing that kept distracting them lmao. But they got there and I loved it.

The pacing was on point and kept me turning the page. The characters were fun. Finn had a few fun surprises and I loved him just as much as Wade. But seriously, Wade deserves all good things :cries:

Gigi again made me cackle. And I'm already so excited for book three.

Goodness me

Ok, I'm gonna be honest here. This needs to be edited. There is not a part of this that does not have a misspelled word, a wrong word used, or repeated descriptions in paragraphs. It also needs about a 100 less pages. Which is a shame because the story was good.

In here we have Wade, an omega who literally was abandoned by his parents. He has issues with being thought of as less than but is very colorful and bright and Finn, a billionaire Dr alpha, who was one of a quad of alphas born to his poor mother.

Finn is Lachlan's brother from the first book and Wade is Quinn's best friend from the first book.

These two actually met and knew they were fated mates but decided to just hate each other instead of just talking like adults. At the wedding of Lachlan and Quinn, things heat up and they go have sexytimes on a dirt road in the middle of a thunderstorm, as one does.

Of course babby happens and then they decide to get to know each other and it goes on and on until the HEA.

There was also a pregnancy emergency in this one, which while not as bad as the first book, is not something I need to read about over and over.

DNF @ 6%

I hated these 6 percents. They were both annoying and Finn was low key sexist and mean to Wade’s femininity. Also, ennemies to lovers can fall off a cliff for me, I hate this trope. I might try the next one. Who knows?

If you like to read Mpreg shifter romance then this is the book for you. The plot has a humorous undertone with interesting twists and several “should I do this or should I ignore this” situations. The two main characters (Finn) & (Wade) definitely have opposing personalities and display realistic reactions according to the unconventional circumstances they find themselves in. The secondary characters offer excellent support
It is about: the third eldest of identical quintuplets & alpha male wolf shifter (Finn Sinclair) is a omega obstetrics & gynecology doctor with a serious attitude & has a very unadventurous way of dressing naturally he is definitely not impressed with his brother’s PA (Quinn) who happens to be a very bratty, flamboyant male omega wolf shifter and a thorn in his side then the chemistry between them ignites.
There is: wolf shifters, fated mates, Finn’s brothers (Lachlan, Brendan & Jamie), Wade’s friend (Quinn), Finn’s cat with an attitude (Tango), fated mates, a kink community, intrigue, drama, some suspense, humor, attractions, misunderstandings, verbal disagreements, unexpected surprises, emotional turmoil, some kink, determination, vulnerability, compromises, some steamy scenes, contentment & a sweet, hard-earned happy conclusion. Personally, I enjoyed reading this book & look forward to future books from this author with eager anticipation.

If you read the Sassy Omega, you meet Wade. We love him for his bright colors, hard work, and bratty tendencies. He has always wanted the HEA for as long as he can remember. Quinn despises Wade and his love of color. But the pair are fated. I loved how the fates ended up bringing the pair together. When Wade is in a car accident, things start to change, and we see the bond grow. Sometimes you have to listen to your Alpha and let him give you just what you need. Make sure to have a few tissues handy; this book is a hot read, but when we get to know a little more about Wade’s past I needed a tissue. Alright, I am ready for fall and Brenden’s story. I am invested and need to know what happens.

This series keeps getting better and better. Wade and Finn are as different as night and day, even though they are fated mates. Wade is witty, sweet, colourful, and funny. Finn is stern, serious, smart, and a nerd and he wants Wade. They have a love/hate relationship and they are always at each other. The book is funny, and romantic, with some angst, and witty, and you can see the chemistry between these two from start to finish. Once they sat down and talk and got to know one another they both wanted the same thing. I enjoyed this book from start to finish. I'm looking forward to the next book.

I could not help but adore Wade and all his bright and bratty! He is a hard-working omega but such a romantic dreamer at heart. Finn is a more serious alpha Doctor and cannot seem to understand how his fated mate is the most flamboyant omega around! His reaction kind of hurts Wade but this sparks some seriously funny push and pull banter! Wade gives us all the sassy! I read an arc, and if you enjoy two complete opposites trying to deny all their chemistry in some sweet, steamy fun you will not be able to put this one down!

better than the first book

There were still some issues of repetitive inner monologue. I love wade and thought he and Finn made a cute couple. Two things I would have liked more of. 1st being more time exploring the BDSM side of their relationship. IMO, it was kind of glossed over. And the 2nd, more thi me as a couple have they got out of each other’s way. Off to the next book.

DNF @26% ... urgh, this was one of the biggest disappointments I've had in a long time. Enemies-to-lovers is never really my jam, but I did enjoy the first book in this series, so I was willing to give it a go. Unfortunately, I hated Finn and almost threw in the towel after Chapter 3. I did, in fact, set it aside for a few days, but then forced myself to give it another try, only to sink even further into hating him and giving up for good a few chapters later. A true shame, since I love having found a new author who seems like a solid storyteller and who wants to give us more omegaverse stories. But...... just no.

I could go off on all the psycho babble about how contempt and disgust are the two inescapable signs that a relationship is truly doomed irl, but I won't. I'll just say that those emotions are a total mood killer between fictional MCs for me, and the whole vibe it produced is the exact opposite of why I enjoy reading romance. And not just because the enemies-to-lovers trope isn't my preference. I have definitely read some that I enjoyed in the past... but part of why the trope works, even if it's not my fave, is that there's always - ALWAYS - an undercurrent of chemistry and/or reluctant respect and/or admiration between the "enemies" from the get-go.

Here, though?

Nope. Nada. NONE of that.

The ONLY thing Finn displayed, talked about, or expressed toward Wade - other than some sexual attraction - was contempt and/or disgust, and when JFC. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that this book literally kept me up for two nights in a row, seething about how much I hated Finn, and not in the fun "let's redeem the anti-hero" way. He just came across as a miserable human being who didn't deserve either a fated mate or a happily ever after, and the whole story - well, at least as far as I got in it before DNF'ing - left the sourest of sour tastes in my mouth.

Annnnnnnyway. Yeah. So, that happened. I'm sad to miss out on Wade and Finn's story, since I'm still potentially interested in reading about the other brothers, and realize that if I do go on with the series there will be references to their coupledom that I don't get, but this one? I just can't.

Great story

I really want to give it 5 stars, I loved the characters and the story, but there are too many basic grammar issues.

The story is great, the characters are awesome, I loved them. But I really can’t get pass the spelling and grammar issues…

This is such a shame because the story and the characters are great, the tone and pace of the book, the writing style of the author.

I really enjoyed the story and the world it develops in.

This is such a great enemies to lovers story! Wade and Finn have strongly disliked each other for several years now, ignoring one huge secret between them but there is a limit that they both reach and things come tumbling from there, in the best way of course.
I really enjoyed how their relationship evolved from start to finish. A lot of the time with an enemies to lovers story there will be a moment where everything switches for them but here, it's a long process that still has a snarky brat and an alpha with resting b***h face, a lot of tension (the good and bad kind), as well as tenderness and care during the softer moments. They show each other and the reader that there's so much more to a person than first impressions and only what you can see. There's a wealth of history, experiences and emotion that you only find out by communicating with someone and it takes a while for these two to learn that. They also have the Dom and Sub aspect of their lives to bring to their relationship, not something Finn thought they'd match on as he thought he wanted sweet and obedient but sometimes it's not a bad thing to be wrong.
The relationships they have with others add a lot to the story as well, especially Finn with his brothers and Wade with Quinn, his best friend. There is also Gabe, Wade's friend and neighbour, who I'm hoping we hear more from in the future, he definitely seems to need his own HEA.
An emotional and dramatic story that is entertaining from start to finish. I love how things worked out for the two of them and their ending suited them perfectly.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

The main characters met maybe 5 years ago, shook hands, instantly knew they were fated. Finn instantly decided they were not well suited, but didn't have to say anything because Wade could see the revulsion on Finn's face. So Wade just ignored him and the fated mates thing, and went back to whatever he was doing.

However, they have mutual friends, and have been in each other's lives ever since. They have been trying to avoid each other as much as possible, to avoid forming a bond.

The reason Finn was revolted was because Finn likes Sad Beige aesthetic, and Wade is maximalist, with dyed hair, painted nails, etc. On one hand, it sounds so stupid. On the other hand, let me explain something. I'm autistic, and I cannot watch certain celebrities, because there is just too much visual and auditory stimulation. (Example: Robin Williams. I just can't.) They can be awesome people, but I just can't experience them. I can't imagine living with them. So it made me think Finn is supposed to be Autism-coded, or something similar.

However, this is not an excuse to make an instant decision that they wouldn't make good mates. Finn judges a book by its cover, which he shouldn't.

In any case, they don't have a conversation about why they dislike each other, until Finn's brother's wedding reception at the beginning of this book. Then they hate fuck. Then a baby happens. They can't avoid each other anymore.

The author also made them kinksters, so they bring up BDSM stuff all the time. And it's just... Ugh. It's unnecessary to the story.

The sniping, the lack of communication, for so many years, the gratuitous kink stuff, I don't know, it just wasn't my cuppa.

OK...I was soooooooo excited about this book and couldn't wait to read. This DIDNOT disappoint. I had sooooooo much fun reading this whirlwind/rollercoaster romance that is Finn and Wade. FInn and Wade are the poster guys for what absolute misunderstandings can ruin a good thing. It's true they were totally opposites but they had that INTENSE chemistry that couldn't be denied. They had some very very bad lows and I was afraid they weren't gonna get their act together. Both so vulnerable with emotional baggage that once they had it out...things started (slowly) to get better. Loved their connection and kinky side(Very HOT)...loved the emotional side, not very angtsy but just the right amount of feels...loved the family unit and support...loved the hilarity throughout that kept me in stitches...and I absolutely ADORED the ending. This story (just like the one before) was straight all around entertainment with the Sinclair brothers and the two besties. I can't wait for more. 5STARS!!!!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

His Bratty Omega is the second book in the Sweet Alps Mates series by author Raiven Matthews. This story is told in dual POV and really is even better than the first book in this series. I love the connections these characters have. Makes me want to keep turning the pages and wanting more.

Finn: is a doc. He loves delivering babies. He also has a resting b* face. I loved that he is a comic nerd. I am too it was awesome finding a kindred soul.

Wade is bright literally and figuratively. Considers Finn to be an annoyance and someone he cannot stop looking at. Wade is a personal assistant to Lachlan. He is used to being in control, that is until Finn.

I loved that these two are oil and water. They each have what the other needs in their life. Finn could use some lightening up, and Wade could use some calm. I also they are Dom and Sub respectively. They are perfect together. I loved them! I cannot wait for more from this series. So far, I have loved each book and want more.

Omega Wade Monroe believed in fairy tales and fated mates until he met his and realised that Fate had a wicked sense of humour because alpha Finn Sinclair was all stern scowls and with no fashion sense. They ignored the mate bond for years until one night when they gave in to the magnetic attraction between each other and now Wade is expecting a child with him. Now they need to work out how to co-parent while trying to stop hating each other. Can Finn finally get his act together and can they have the future together that Fate demands?

I really enjoyed this story which was all about making assumptions and that first impressions we not always right. I loved the ways that they finally were able to learn more about each other and that it was increasingly impossible to stay in separate lives. I loved that many of their actions were quite childish and that they just needed to grow up and behave properly. Contains mature content, an M/Mpreg relationship, D/s behaviours and eventual real love. Easy to read and understand.

I hoped Finn and Wade would be paired up while reading the first book of the series. There were a couple clues, and I was very excited to see that my guess was correct! Like Lachlan and Quinn, these two really have to work at their relationship. They have amazing chemistry, but their first meeting did not go well and had colored their relationship since. We got to watch the two of them work to overcome their first impressions and really get to know each other.

Finn and Wade are complete opposites, but by the end of everything they end up working really well together. Their friends and family are shocked by their pairing, but apparently Fate knows what she's doing! It was fun watching these two push each others' buttons and their was plenty of witty banter. There were plenty of steamy scenes plus a little dose of kink. There was more kink on page than the previous book, but I would still consider it pretty mild.

I love that we are getting to know all the Sinclair brothers better as the series continues. I'm excited to read Brendan's and Jamie's stories!

I don't know how to fairly rate this

Story - 4 maybe even 4.5 stars, if you go into knowing you're getting a lovely smutty omegaverse with mpreg. If that's what you're looking for, and sometimes something like this is exactly what my brain needs, then this story is... Yep. Brilliant. Fab. Just what the doctor ordered. I liked both MCs and I liked their refusal to accept they're fated mates because they don't actually like each other, delicious.

The writing - 2 stars.
The tense changed sometimes. And the internal monologues were LONG. Words repeated a lot. This was nearly 400 pages but with a good beta team and some streamlining, it could have been closer to 300 and still told the exact same story.

That said, I still demolished it. I just found myself skim reading parts where the MC used 200 words to tell us something they could have managed in 50.

I would consider reading the rest in the series the next time I need an OV hit. But I won't be rushing to read them because I'm pretty sure the writing style will annoy me.
