McKenna Renzi wants to appear like a successful vlogger and life coach, but no one will pay for her advice.
When Michael comes to her wanting to become the most datable man in town, McKenna is ready to jumpstart her consulting business. But the easy money comes with a catch: she has to convince his roommates they are dating!
Coaching Michael has two downsides. First, Michael learns quickly, so McKenna is working herself out of a job just as her expenses add up. Second, as Michael’s dateability increases, she may want to keep him for herself.
I started this series with book 2, which focuses on McKenna. She is a good-at-heart 24 YO, living with three other women in Apartment 300, and she is a beauty and lifestyle vlogger. She's somehow bagged a well-paying consultation opportunity with a guy called Michael, who is a millionaire but needs a lot of help in the dating department. McKenna's just the right person for him.
As she gets about grooming Michael, she learns that he used to sit right behind her in high school. Awkward, because she barely remembers him. She used to be a different person back then.
How McKenna helps Michael to reach his goal, how her feelings for him evolve and what happens of them in the end is the story. But what I also liked was how McKenna is *not* a shallow person like most beauty influences would come across to be. She's got a good heart and smart brains (and she's a looker too).
I found her difficult chemistry with her parents relatable, while her equations with her 3 roommates was entertaining. Of all her friends, I am intrigued about Bailey and then Aisling.
this book made me laugh out loud, cry, reflect and chuckle. The chapter titles are especially witty - clickbait-style titles, referencing the heroine's career as a social media influencer. I also liked some nuggets of wisdom she shared with her client.
I found the writing to be engaging from the first chapter, and it stayed well-paced throughout. I would have liked better proofreading though, there were errors related to missing articles, some typos, some incorrect punctuation and such.
Having said that, I am already onto book 3 of this series - Aisling's story - and it's looking promising.
'Please Like (and Subscribe)' was worth my time. Light, sweet and cute.
