My goals are easy. One, survive being the new girl at my school. And two, get along with everyone and maybe make some friends. Simple, right?
Unfortunately, there is something standing in my way. Cole Nathair, the king of the popular clique. From the first moment we meet, he absolutely hates me. And I can’t for the life of me figure out why.
But I do know that no one has ever looked at me like he does. His glare threatens to strike me down where I stand. His words mock me and make me a social pariah. And when it comes, his kiss is brutal.
I never expected his kiss. Never expected his rough touch or the way it’d make me feel. I’ve never wanted anyone the way that I want Cole. His embrace is the match that sets my soul on fire.
Being the object of his hatred is like playing with fire. But being desired by him threatens to burn me to the ground.
Lily Smith, new girl in town. Due to her dads job, they move around from place to place. It’s hard getting adjusted to a new school, but somehow she attempts to manage. She makes friends with some awesome girls, but then there is that one girl in every school that makes it hard. Willow, seems to think Lily wants her boyfriend, Cole. She is constantly messing with her any chance she gets. Cole Nathair, hot guy in school, popular and a crazy girlfriend. From the moment they make eye contact, there are tensed feelings. She feels things for him although she know she shouldn’t, but she can’t help it. Cole can’t seem to stay away from her. But one minute he’s hot and the next he’s cold. But the interesting thing going on, is that Cole knows more about her than she knows. He drops hints to her, she’s confused about it. They kiss and make out, but it still leaves her confused as to what they truly are doing. When she can’t take it anymore she asks him about it, but all he keeps doing is avoiding her one minute and kissing her the next. Lily overheard her dad one day and is trying to piece things together. When she confronts him on it, he lies but she still can’t shake it. But this cliffhanger is one that I did not expect and I am very much looking forward to the next installment of the series.

Love me a good bully romance, and this one delivered an angsty raw performance without being too over the top. This was the classic new girl vs popular boy, said popular boy being the son of a local FBI agent, who bullies her initially but also can't stay away from her. Lilly and her family (who have moved lots over the last several years) move in across Cole, but he gives her either the cold shoulder or outright bullies her initially. When his on again, off again girlfriend takes her own bullying too far, Cole steps in to defend her and give her a ride and she kisses him, causing him to kick her out of the car. After that the entire book they go back and forth in what culminates in a very angsty storyline of teen "I want you but I can't have you" plot that you literally can't stop reading until the end. Which ends on a cliffhanger! The book itself has a good amount of spice but not enough to cause an ick factor (which for me does because these are teenagers) but this is more NA romance since there are some sex scenes. I wouldn't say there's many triggers but definitely some sensitive content. An enjoyable and relatively quick read- I'm excited to see what happens in book 2!.

It's my 1st time reading this author and it takes a little bit of a different turn in the bully room romance. They just moved in Lilly and her family that her dad is in to something shady and cool which is the next 1 neighbor knows because that's enough BIA agent so They can continue this so hot and cold between the 2 so I don't know if they hate each other or like each other. So Louis gets bullied by the girls in the school because willow is Coles girlfriend and they're on again and off again so she doesn't like anything that might change his mind about her... So that's where the bullying comes in and there's couple of things that have happened during the encounter well she is in school..... Outside outside outside at that it's more about a family than any thing lily family is doing something and coles family is part of it. I just don't know exactly I do know this ends in a cliffhanger so you have to go to the second book to find out what happened at the end of this 1 and if it's really frustrating now try to find out what happens at the end of this bookBecause it's something drastic said I'm hoping to start that book the see what happens.
It honestly could be more than a two star. That rating I feel can be inaccurate because I made it only to 54%! It’s really really really hard for me to start a book and not finish!!!! It’s like i have to or it will be on my mind. I just couldn’t. I get that it’s a high school book but the way the mc just fawned all over Cole with the things he said and did then to just let him kiss her whenever was so desperate to me. I try to be understanding because i know dad isn’t around. But i feel at least make him work for it a little bit. Cole, i didn’t fully understand maybe his dad told him to keep away from her. But i can’t really put the blame on him because she so easily allowed him to treat her any kind of way. So he did what he wanted. Like i said i only got halfway that was halfway too much for me. Sorry, this book just didn’t do it for me!
I debated on wether or not to give this story 2 or 3 stars but aftering an ending like that, this book earned it. However , I had a hard time with this one. Please don't get me wrong I am a fan of K. Walker's work, but this one just didn't do it for me. Cole and Lily have no chemistry, Cole's emotions was giving me whiplash. One minute he acknowledges her and making out with her, and the next he is back to ignoring her. Lily was following Cole around like a puppy dog, she was so annoying! She literally gave this boy her virginity like a month or two of being in school and mind you they're not even dating. It was just hard to read, but I do encourage everyone to give it a read.

Excellent, and what a cliffhanger !!! Very good romance about high school students, all in hate, even if Lily, the character who tells us the story, does not understand what is happening around her and why her new neighbor, Cole, son of an FBI agent, hate her so much. The story is rather mysterious, full of twists and turns, sometimes heartbreaking by the feelings of Lily who finds herself harassed, defamed, but all the same attracted by one of her bully. The story oscillates between hatred and passion, which makes the relationships of each other complex, all ending on a cliffhanger well placed both in romance and in action. Fiction based on real life should have some info based on facts. Field hockey uses a ball, ice hockey a puck. Kissing while driving a car, no. This sounded like a plot from a show that was on a few years ago. Willow getting suspended, yes. Pulling someone's hair during try outs and not getting in trouble, no. Homecoming is in the fall, prom in the spring. Two girls fighting in a school parking lot, where are the teachers or school security? Most school parking lots now have cameras. The back and forth of teenage relationships, yes. Just was not a put together book. The best part, the last 5 pages. Just no.
Lily moves with her family to Bridge Island and starts at a new school where she is immediately on Cole Nathair’s bad side for some unknown reason. He seems to influence the popular exclusive clique that will shut her out. To her credit, she does face them down. But then Cole gives her mixed signals between being a bully toward her and then kissing her, making her crave him. He also seems to know something about her family that she doesn’t. Will she find out what is going on?
This was definitely a interesting and entertaining read still don't know what to make of it just yet since it's only book 1 in the series. There still a lot of mystery surrounding Lily and her family so I'm looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this series. As always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are completely my own.
I am going to immediately dive into the next book. This Book popped up in my search for a high school bully romance and that’s what I got! I loved these two and their chemistry. I loved that she is independent but has that mindset of a kid, I felt this book was on par for what my life was like in high school minus the whole fbi and mafia thing. I can’t wait for the next one!

A fantastic introduction to a new series. Deliciously dark and dangerous. Great characters, and a well written storyline. Would recommend. Cannot wait for the next book.

On the fence with this one. I HATE that the author made this Female lead, so weak. She sees this boy and automatically is in doormat status. Lots of go around and around back and forth…idk to keep going or not..
Lily is the new girl and all she wants to do is survive without drama. But Cole brings all the drama to her because of who her father is. She must learn to deal with Cole and the strange behavior that he shows to her because of what he think she knows about her father.
