Trigger: sexual assault and violence retold.
Spoon, GA
What will I do with my life? That is the question each man had been asking himself.
Tucker, 25, owns his bar, a southern boy all the way,

(cover) dark blonde, a tall big muscled, sweet man. His family is complicated, but it was too many folks to keep track of at first. The town is looking forward to Tucker's Dad's wedding coming up.

One dark and rainy night they found a man beaten and damaged lying in the parking lot. Tucker and his co-workers get him to the hospital, and Tucker takes him to Tucker's home to heal. Evan's belongings and money were gone, so he takes on the offer to work at the bar while he heals, and later he tells what happened to him.

Tucker is taken with the short, hairy, tattooed man, and is feeling protective.

Evan, 21, a smaller man, brown hair with a gymnast body, wants to be an actor and was traveling to Atlanta.

They get along and share histories and learn that they like each other. Tucker is worried Evan's attacker is from this area, because a stranger wouldn't have known about the small town of Spoon.
Evan fits in seamlessly with the town's folks and the community, where he joins the theatre company and is having fun. Eventually our men get to sexy times, and Tucker is having his firsts !
Plus, I was surprised they were vers, took turns topping.

The performance of King Lear is amazing and everyone is excited. As their relationship gets super passionate and "love" is on the way, we get to watch the red hot pleasures they find.

Then it's time for the wedding week and it's a huge event his Dad's have waited twenty years for.

The attacker surprises everyone !

Will Evan go on to Atlanta? Will Tucker follow him?

The epilogue sews up all of the seams.
ENJOY !

Loved Sweet T!!! Evan is hitch hiking his way to Atlanta when he is picked up, he ends up assaulted and dropped off at a bar. Tucker and his friend find Evan and take him to the hospital. I loved Sweet T, Tucker’s nickname. He was a sweet, fluffy marshmallow! He has a heart of gold, thinks good of and will help about anyone. At times I felt Evan was taking advantage of Tucker, it took me a bit to like his character. Loved all the secondary characters, especially Pedro! Totally disliked Tucker’s father. He was more concerned with his stepson other than both his boys. Evan did redeem himself in my eyes by the end of the story. Overall, well written with a nice pacing that flowed well.

Two young men find each other one night amongst sadness and loneliness. Together they find healing and a purpose.

I need to admit, I struggled in connecting to Evan, he was off-putting in his treatment of Tucker at times, he felt a bit manipulative (not meanly though). But Tucker loved him, and I loved Tucker. Sweet, kind, and longing to care for someone, and be loved in return. He was a treasure. And the storyline involving his father was both heartbreaking and touching.

The town of Spoon is quite eclectic, and I’m sure will provide plenty of drama for the stories to come.

RTC but I really wish that I enjoyed this one more than I did. It was super sweet and I really enjoyed the premise of this book, but sadly I didn’t really enjoy one of the main characters. I wish that I loved this one more than I did because I really enjoyed all of the ideas behind this book.

I received an arc of this book and this is my honest opinion

I loved Tucker so much! Every time he was happy it made me smile!! Evan was rough around edges, was carrying a lot of baggage and sometimes really did not say and do the best things. But Tucker cared so much for him, and you could feel they had a special chemistry the more time they spent together! The smalltown country setting and characters were endearing! Everything was very descriptive. My favorite being when Tucker described Evan as a Muscular Pixie!! It was wonderful seeing Tucker find someone like Evan to not only take care of, but to experience a bunch of first steamy times with! I read an arc and if you enjoy a romance with some true southern charm and big Teddy Bear of a man finding love you will love this!

Tucker’s nickname of Sweet T suits him. This guy is a big marshmallow with a giant heart who gives everything of himself and loves hard. Despite his entrance into Tucker’s life, I felt Evan was taking advantage of him at first. He had to grow on me as I began to understand his motives a bit better. And I love Pedro! Tucker’s dads were amazing and I loved the fact that their marriage made such a huge part of this book. There is a lot to be said for forgiveness and reconciliation. I also love the large found family of all races, colors, sexes and orientations that make up the town of Spoon, GA and Tucker Shepherd’s family.

On first look it was the case that Evan needed a helping hand. He left home and has a traumatic experience while hitchhiking to Atlanta that lands him in Spoon, Georgia. But his luck was changing since he landed in at Tucker's tavern and he finds a wonderfully blended family that wants to help him get back on his feet and find his way. Evan is young and what happened to him should not happen to anyone and although I felt frustrated that he did not want to report to the police or deal with it head on, it kind of made sense and I thought the author was spot on to write him as she did. Life is not always fair and justice and resolution may not come but you can move forward if you can find good people willing to help you. And Tucker and his family were good people. Tucker also needed a rescue from feeling like he was stuck and life was passing him by. He works a lot but does not seem to seek a relationship. Evan landing on his doorstep helps that to change. They were a find for one another and love came to the rescue for them both. I liked most of the characters that we met in this story - except the predator.
I received an ARC from GRR for an honest review.

Such a wonderful heartfelt story. Tucker and Evan's story flows seamlessly together around a cast of wonderful side characters in a small town in Georgia. Tucker loves his life but feels there is something missing, until he helps rescue a young man found beaten behind his bar. Evan is trying to get out of small town life and live his dream being an actor in Atlanta. But his dreams change after meeting a sweet bear of a man who has an abundance of love to give.

This was my first book by this author, and exactly the type of book I love to read. The MCs compliment each other well, side characters bring life to the story, low angst with lots of feels, basically an overall delightful read. Having it set around the time of legalization of gay marriage lends an extra depth to the story. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and hear more about Big Britches and Daddy P.

It took a few minutes to wrap my brain around the 2015 setting for this book, but once I did, I was able to relax into the narrative. I think Sweet T is a good representation of that period. It shows the excitement and hope for a better future tempered by the lingering pain and distrust of the past.
The prologue was a little hard to read (Everyone needs to read the trigger warning!), but it was well written even as it was traumatic. That's all I'm going to say since it's not a trigger for me, and I don't have the personal experience to speak knowledgeably about it. I wouldn't say I liked how the author handled the bad guy and his situation.
The family and close friends are interesting characters and support the storyline, and the town seems like somewhere I'd like to visit.
I got a pretty good read on Tucker right off the bat. His shyness, coupled with the pain from his past, made me want to hug him close and help him feel better about everything. I had to remind myself that he is only twenty-five years old several times. He seems like a much older person.
I struggled with Evan. He is so young, and I hurt for him. And while I could understand his youth and impulsiveness, I felt impatient towards him when he continued his reckless behavior. With this being fiction, I expected a different outlook after what he went through, but by the same token, it IS fiction, and he is who he showed the author he is. The decision to write Evan as he saw him, and not as others would expect, took guts, and I applaud that. It wasn't too much...it was just unexpected.
Both characters are pretty easy to like. They have the same strengths and insecurities like everyone else, and the author wrote them beautifully. They blossomed as the scenes passed, and I cared about them both by the end. I am satisfied with their HEA.
I look forward to more from this author.

Sweet and witty M/M romance – was it a case of predestination?
I’m giving this book 4.5 stars because in all honesty the beginning was very slow but it picks up considerably later and becomes very compelling. The reason it seemed so slow is probably because in the beginning we’re introduced to all the characters whether primary or secondary. And there are a lot of people. I would only caution that books to follow will not assume that the reader knows all the characters because they were mentioned in this book.
What starts off as a tragic event in 21yo Evan’s life as he runs away hoping to be an actor, becomes his destiny. He’s saved by Ben, Shel and especially 25yo Tucker, or Sweet T. Big, buff but sweetly shy Tucker feels more than pity for the broken and injured man in the hospital bed. Evan has had an unfortunate past, but Tucker would like to change his future. Takes place in small town Spoon, Georgia in relatively current times. Gay marriage has just been found Constitutional by the Supreme Court of the United States.
There will be angst, a story arc, lots of explicit steam and a sweet ending for Sweet T and Evan. The writing was as mellow and soothing as the Southern accent you can virtually hear as you read. Example: “I’d give you the moon if I could fit it in my pocket.” Beautiful word pictures too.
Like I said my only fault with it was that the introduction of so many characters at the beginning, slowed down the story. By the time the story got into a few chapters, I was hooked. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book by Gay Romance Reviews.

I loved this first book in a new series from Timothy Warren! Though there were some harsh topics discussed in this book (check the warnings before reading) I love how the author handled such sensitive topics and shows the characters building a life around their trauma rather than acting like it never happened. I loved seeing Tucker and Evan both growing so much personally and it was so interesting to see how their individual growth allowed them to build a strong relationship together. I love the town of Spoon, Georgia and all the wacky residents that make up this sweet little small town! There were some big plot twists in the final chapters of the book I did not see coming but I love every minute of this story. I can't wait for the second book in this series!

Such a great book. Sweet and entertaining. Emotional and entertaining. Two worlds collide through a twist of fate. Tucker is living in the small town of Spoon tending bar stuck in the past over a heartbreak. Evan's only desire is to be an actor and heads out to Atlanta to pursue his dream. He's on foot and accepts a ride from a stranger. Not his smartest move. The next thin g he knows he is in a parking lot outside Tucker's bar in Spoon. Beat up and injured. Tucker takes him into his home and takes care of him until Evan can get back on his feet. There is an attraction between the two from the start. Van the two get past their issues and find something more? I highly recommend.

Sweet T by Timothy Warren is the first book in the Southern Comfort series. I loved the emotion in this book. Each man brings something the other needs to the story, and I loved getting to know the people in this town.

Tucker: his family is a bunch of overachievers he always felt left out cause he is content where he is. I loved the fact he is a loving soul who cares deeply. He doesn’t think something, or anyone is beneath him. He is just a great soul.

Evan: where to start with him. He gets into a stranger’s car cause he was hitchhiking. The part that baffled me with him as he told his guy his life story. So, when the man ends up beating him up and leaving him for dead I was not too shocked. Kind of felt like it was headed that way.

Evan does grow on me. He is a good person who sees the good in others. He really needs Tucker in his life not only to keep him alive but to have some stability and love.

Overall, a great story. This is a fast-paced story that I could not put down. I would love to read more in this series in the future.

This is my first book by this author and it for sure will not be my last. This was such a sweet story that was written so beautifully. Both Evan and Tucker were so lost and together they were able to find a purpose and heal one another. Evan was so rough around the edges and had so much baggage but Tucker cared so much about him. He loved him through all his pain and hurt. Tucker was there for him and supported him through everything. They had insane chemistry and it just grew the more time they spent together. Their connection blossomed into a truly beautiful relationship and I enjoyed reading about it so very much! I am so looking forward to reading more books in this new series!

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

I’ve heard a lot of praise for this author’s other series so I was excited to jump into Sweet T. Unfortunately, I never really connected to any of these characters, the town, or the romance.

To be fair, overly sweet stories aren’t usually my reads of choice so this may be best for readers who enjoy the fluffier romances with some heat.

This is the story of Tucker and Evan. I instantly fell in love with Tucker. Please read the trigger warnings first. I adored this book. It took a little bit for me to understand and like Evan. This book is written well with beautiful main and secondary characters. I loved the Southern Charm in this book. Liked that it was descriptive. Looking forward to the next one. Recommended.

I received this book as an Arc and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

Sweet T and Southern Comfort, the name of both book and series are that what you get. A very sweet romance and a lot of the comfort in Southern US.

The story is about Tucker (called Sweet T) and Evan. Tucker is the owner of a Taverne and Evan an actor running from home to Atlanta. Caused by bad circumstances he lands in the near of Tuckers tavern.

Timothy has the gift with words that you’re directly there in Spoone, he describes everything so detailed, so lovely, you see everything in front of you, no you’re in-between. Sometimes I could smell the flowers he described. The same with the love story, it’s so emotional, comforting and also hot.

„Maybe guardian Angels work in both ways“, in my eyes the sentence of the book, that’s what the two guys are for each other, they only have to find out how to get also their own dreams combined.

A really great first book in the new series of Timothy, I couldn’t put the book down and I’m looking forward to read more from the people if Spoone.

I had the luck to get an ARC to read.

Set in the summer of 2015 the Supreme Court has just declared same-sex marriage to be a nationwide right.

Evan's plans were derailed on his way to his dream. Missing the last bus to Atlanta, Evan decides to hitchhike to Atlanta from Augusta. Bad choice. Ben and Shelly find Evan badly beaten behind Tucker's tavern. Tucker is compelled to watch over Evan while in the hospital and later in his own home. Evan still plans to get to Atlanta once he works off him debt to the Shepard family.

Working with Tucker and getting to know the people of Spoon, GA. allows Evan to reevaluate his dream. It's acting he loves not the fame or money. Sebastion takes Evan under his wing and shows him he can find his dream in Spoon and have Tucker in his life.

The book is well written and well crafted. Loose ends were nicely tied off with Both Javy and Rick. Relatively low angst and a definite HEA.

Who wouldn't want a Sweet T of their own?! I loved the chemistry between Evan and Tucker, from their first night when Tucker stays to make sure Evan doesn't wake up alone to the fun in Tucker's childhood room I was hooked for the entire ride and I didn't want it to end! I found in interesting that the story takes place in 2015 but it works for the overlapping story line of Tucker's Dads getting married - I'm wondering if the predating means that the author plans to move the characters forward in future stories, I hope so. Also filled with a great cast of side characters that give you a full view of Spoon and life in an inclusive small town. Can't wait for the next one!

A sweet romantic book that started off with someone hurting Evan. Evan is hitchhiking on his way to Atlanta and was beaten badly. Tucker saves Evan and these two start a relationship after getting to know one another. The book starts off slow and gets better and better. The book is sweet, and romantic, with some angst, likeable characters and I enjoyed it. I always look forward to Timothy Warren's books and I wasn't disappointed.

This book had a little bit of everything you could want: it was sweet, it was heartfelt and it had some great world building. The events of the prologue set the scene for introducing Evan to the town of Spoon. Evan was such a complex character - his heart was set on travelling to Atlanta but it was obvious that he just clicked and was a great fit with Tucker and his family. Tucker was also quite a contradiction and appearances were definitely deceptive. One minute Tucker was take charge and fiercely protective, the next he seemed vulnerable and quite naïve. Together they had smoking hot chemistry and the book was filled with both romantic and steamy moments as well as a few heart breaking ones too.

The world building throughout the book was so incredibly detailed I felt like I was learning all about the lives and history of the whole town. I loved the secondary characters, especially Tucker's parents and I'm eager to hear more about the story of how they met and fell in love! Overall, this was a great start to a new series featuring small-town romance (and a bit of Shakespearean acting thrown in too). I'd definitely recommend it to those who enjoy mm romance with a hurt-comfort theme and I'm looking forward to book 2.

Sweet T, A Southern Comfort Novel, by Timothy Warren is one of the best books I have read so far this year. It is a hurt/comfort story about two men from different backgrounds who come together and find love in the small town of Spoon, Georgia. It takes place right after same sex marriage becomes legal, which plays a part in the story. Tucker Shepherd has lived in Spoon all his life and his father, Titus, is the mayor who has loved Pedro, the owner of a landscaping company, for twenty years after Tucker’s mother died. He owns a bar in town and lives in the pool house at the family estate. He has a friend who grew up with him and is like a sister as well as other good people he can count on who help him throughout the book. Evan Harbuck left his hometown after telling his parents he wanted to be an actor. They had disapproved that he was gay and also had many tattoos and this was the final straw. He was going to Atlanta where he felt he had a better chance of making his dreams come true. Unfortunately he hitched a ride with the wrong person who assaulted him and left him beaten and bruised outside of Tucker’s bar. Tucker’s friends found him and took him to the hospital where Tucker stayed with him. Because he had no money after the assault Tucker took him home to take care of him and gave him a job at the bar. It was during this time that they started to feel an attraction to each other and the story continues from there as they fall in love. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this book. The main characters are fully and richly portrayed and the situations they are in are sometimes funny but often angsty as they try to figure out who hurt Evan and if he was still around, as well as how they can stay together if Evan wants to continue to be an actor, yet Tucker doesn’t want to leave his bar, his family and friends, or Spoon. Luckily love finds a way and mysteries are solved so they can have their happy ending. The side characters are also well written and their stories are almost as important as Tucker’s and Evan’s as they fill out the plot and how it develops. The love scenes were also sweet and spicy and added to the direction the story was heading. I highly recommend this book and would give it more than 5 stars if I could. I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series and other stories from this author.

Trigger warnings for sexual/physical assault, homophobia, death of characters mentioned and occurring on page, etc. I don’t really understand why this was set in 2015 when the book was published in 2022. I guess maybe because of the Supreme Court decision? However I was very confused for a while because I thought the prologue was set during an earlier time than the rest of the chapters but that wasn’t the case.

While I did enjoy this, it was kind of third person omnipresent for POV. It was hard to keep track of whose POV we were in because it kept jumping heads! Also there was a lot of backstory and introducing the town and characters. It was information overload and I had a hard time knowing who everyone was for a while. Not much happened in the first 25% to move the story along. I will say that I liked this fictional town and the characters within it were great. I really liked Pedro (Daddy P), Shelly, Sebastian, Ben, Chuck, Brody, etc. There was a 4 year age gap (Evan 21, Tucker 25). This had hurt/comfort, size difference, virgin, etc. tropes.

There was a bit of a mystery and it definitely got heavy at moments due to the subject matters mentioned in the trigger warnings. However I wasn’t surprised by who the assaulter was. I was expecting it since it seemed liked the backstory we got was foreshadowing it. If this had been first person POV, or even third person with clearly defined POVs, I would have enjoyed it more. At the end, it said Big Britches was coming soon, but I don’t see anything on Goodreads about that. Not sure when/if that’s happening. I got the free prequel from a giveaway months ago, so I will probably go read that in the near future. I want to give this 4 stars, but I just can’t because of the POV issues. I’ll do 3-3.5 stars though.

I abdolutely loved big, teddy bear Tucker, he is so caring and sweet, he definitely lives up to his nickname Sweet T - but he has his own hurts that need comforting and Evan sees this and helps him heal. Evan was one big hurting mess, a trigger waiting to happen, he was dismissive of a serious event, he was basically in denial for a big portion of the book and I personally have mixed feelings about the way it was resolved. When Evan started healing and he and Tucker got to know one another better, his normal personality shone through and he was a sassy, outgoing young man. Their chemistry was undeniable, leading to a deeper connection - and some high heat steamy times - and love just sort of snuck up on them, completely unexpected but absolutely genuine, fulfilling each of them in meaningful ways.
I enjoyed the small town atmosphere and many wonderful secondary characters, including Tucker's Daddies who play a big part in this book as well and bring some town history to the story.
Bottom line, this story caused a bunch of emotions in me from start to finish, had engaging characters and a gripping storyline.
I would definitely recommend this book and I look forward to more in this series but beware of the trigger warnings.

Sweet story

This is a very sweet story about a small town guy, Tucker aka 'Sweet T', who owns a tavern. One night, a young man who has been beaten severely is found out behind the bar in the rain. They get an ambulance to get him help right away, but all his money and bag of belongings are gone, with the driver that had picked him up hitchhiking then beat him and left him in the pouring rain. T stays with him at the ER, then takes him home with him as he has nowhere to go, no money and not even dry clothes. But he feels he's doing the right thing, and even gives him a job at his bar (there's a hospital bill to pay now). They then of course start having feelings for each other although holding back because it's only temporary. Or is it?
This is a very laid back book, and low angst, and I enjoyed it. I do have to admit, I very much dislike the cover tho! This to me is a very unfortunate picture, looks like a very dimwitted individual, and not the kind hearted bar owner and cool guy T is. Otherwise, 5 stars.

I’ve enjoyed this author’s work and found his characters to be appealing…
So I was surprised it took me a while to warm up to Tucker. I didn’t see sweet at first.
Now Ethan I found to be very likeable…if not impulsive which led to such a horrible assault. He has such a beautiful and strong spirit.
I liked but didn’t love this slice of life story-there’s a lot going on…we see:
Tucker and Evan move from attraction to feelings to love.
Evan’s career path
Tucker’s relationship with his father
Questions about a stepbrother
Shakespeare community theatre
Secondary character storylines
A wedding

If I have a minor grumble it’s I wish there was more show not tell after Evan and Tucker get together. A bigger grumble is there is a lack of accountability and amends for Evan’s attacker. The sadistic perpetrator is identified but no resolution despite Evan’s trauma. 3.5 stars

This was my first visit to Spoon, Georgia, though I am a native of the state. It was also my first chance to meet Tucker – Sweet T of the title – and Evan, and I want to visit them as often as Timothy Warren will permit. The book oozes Southern hospitality and Southern drawl. What some reviewers have labeled as a slow-moving plot is, in fact, a typical day in summer in small Georgia communities. I found no issues with any of the elements of the story, other than wanting to read more. As others have noted, the story does have a brutal beginning, so check the trigger warning before you read. Other than that, I heartily recommend Spoon and its residents – Titus, Pedro, Tucker, Sebastian, Ben, Shelly, Aunt Barb, Cassie, newcomer Evan, and all the rest. I’m looking forward to my NEXT visit to Spoon already!

3.5 stars rounded to 4

The "hurt" starts this book (heed content warnings), but the comfort and subsequent romance fill most of the pages. Tucker and Evan are forgiving people (way too forgiving for me, honestly), and the way they stood up for each other hit all the right buttons in my romance-reader heart. 3.5 stars because of personal quibbles (see "way too forgiving"), but rounding to 4 for an engaging plot done well and an acknowledgment at the very end that Evan’s healing isn’t over. And because Tucker Shepherd is pretty much the best teddy bear of a lead MC I’ve read in months. All the hugs for him.

I will happily return to Spoon for the next installment.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
