Now an Amazon bestselling author, Sylvia Price is an author of Amish and contemporary romance and women’s fiction. She especially loves writing uplifting stories about second chances!

Sylvia was inspired to write about the Amish as a result of the enduring legacy of Mennonite missionaries in her life. While living with them for three weeks, they got her a library card and encouraged her to start reading to cope with the loss of television and radio, giving Sylvia a new-found appreciation for books.

Although raised in the cosmopolitan city of Montréal, Sylvia spent her adolescent and young adult years in Nova Scotia, and the beautiful countryside landscapes and ocean views serve as the backdrop to her contemporary novels.

After meeting and falling in love with an American while living abroad, Sylvia now resides in the US. She spends her days writing, hoping to inspire the next generation to read more stories. When she’s not writing, Sylvia stays busy making sure her three young children are alive and well-fed.

If you have not read this series yet, it is worth your time to purchase it and enjoy. One of the ‘extras’ by getting the series edition is that you not only get it at a great price, but you will not have to wait for the next book. The series has 6 books: a prequel and then books one through five.

The prequel: A Promised Tomorrow -- sets up the characters and present-day situation that is happening. The family (Mother and daughters are dealing with the aftermath and emotions from the death of the Husband/ Father. Each book is devoted to mainly one of the women and how they are thinking and moving on with their life and the changes that have occurred.

Book 1: Peace for Yesterday – The main character is Rebecca, the second eldest daughter who due to her sadness and hurts withdrew from others but changed through new circumstances to open herself up to a happy life again.

Book 2: A Path for Tomorrow – Josephine is the daughter starred in this book. She has a strong personality and outspoken about what she wanted. Yet she turned to God for His leading in the events that happened, and she yielded her desires to keep Him first place in her life.

Book 3: Faith for the Future – Megan, the eldest daughter is the center focus of this book. Being the first born, she had a quiet personality and had made a plan for her life intending to be the support the family needed without their father to look after all of them, including their mother.

Book 4: Patience for the Present – This book was named correctly. Patience was needed by others as they dealt with the youngest daughter, Lillian. She acted like a young self-focused person and consequently irritated others by her lack of consideration. Her self-centered ways caused not only challenges for her but also led her into a dangerous situation. Through intervention of those who cared for her she was protected and learned to rethink her behaviors.

Book 5: Return to Yesterday – Miriam, their mother, is the central figure in the final book in this series. Throughout the series, she was outspoken by a man named Abe. He became an important part of the story and past history was revealed. This left me as a reader of this series with a wonderful feeling and a real desire to encourage other people to read this series.
Even though each book is enjoyable in and of itself, the reader gains much more by reading the entire series, and in order. The challenges and joys throughout this series shares how the life of a person who believes in God or one who is searching for something they are lacking can turn to Him to carry us through the ups and downs that life brings to each of us. Faith is shared as a base throughout but none of the series is at all “preachy”. It is an excellent series… I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys reading relaxing, encouraging fiction.

Peace for Yesterday
When we left the prequel to this series, the Yoder family had just received an envelope from an anonymous person with enough money to open the baker that Mariam had wanted to open.

Rebecca and Peter started seeing each other. Events occurred that had her doubting their relationship. Will their love for each other and praying to God for direction be enough for them to realize what God wants for their lives?

A Path for Tomorrow
Josephine was at Abe's farm exercising his prize horse. When she was finished, Abe told her he had a surprise for her. They went in the barn, and he introduced her to Matthew. Abe was going out of town for two weeks and felt like Josephine would need help while he was gone. She wasn't happy about him being there. Would they be able to get along in order to get the work done? Will they maybe become friends? These questions will be answered in the story.

Faith for the Future
When Megan's father died, she vowed that she wasn't going to marry but live with her mother so her mother wouldn't be alone. A widower with two children moved to their community, and Megan was his daughter's (Grace) teacher. You have to read this book to see what surprises are in store for these families.

Patience for the Present
Lillian is the youngest of Miriam's daughters. She doesn't seem to be happy with anything in her life. She convinced her mom to let her work at a greenhouse owned by Englischers. She started hanging out with some of the girls she worked with. They talked her into getting a cell phone. What else would they talk her into that would go against her beliefs? Will any of it lead to trouble?

Return to Yesterday
This is a great ending to the series. There is definitely a surprise in the story. You won't be disappointed.

I received each of these books as an ARC, and this is my honest opinion.

I read this saga with big pleasure. It tells us about lives of five women from Yoder family when the only man in the family - husband and father of four girls died. Each one of the women are standing before hard decision - what she should do with her life and support her family? Take the books and find out what they chose
