WHAT WORKED FOR ME 👍🏻 The stories are very fresh and interesting. I have never heard them before and that's what hooked me to the book. 👍🏻 Each story carries a great message and at the end the author gives some thoughts to ponder upon which is a great conversation starter with children.
WHAT DID NOT WORK FOR ME 👎🏻 Lack of thorough editing has left the book with grammatical errors and repetitive sentences and paragraphs.
I would recommend this collection of short stories for kids as well as adults. They were very informative and beautifully illustrated. A thorough editing would do wonders for the book.

This book is a collection of beautiful illustrious stories aimed at children's betterment and how they can develop themselves into an overall agile and more focused human beings . The tales invoke excitement and takes cue from the popular folklores that make the overall experience even more surreal.
The cover page is attractive and cute and fittingly so. The title is intriguing as well . Also the learning derived from each story if implemented properly can take the kids towards a successful future. But no book is without scope of improvements. The narration can definitely be better especially the sentence construction. Also one more round of editing could have worked wonders

The Gifted Fly and Other Stories is one of the best collection of short story book that I recently came across. Although being an adult, I love reading comics and children stories and the cover of this cute book attracted me. As I started reading the stories, I was highly impressed with the moral attached to them. The stories are not only entertaining but has something valuable to teach to the readers. The book is not just a result of imagination but the Author has studied our Indian culture & stories before penning down this marvellous book.
This book is not only suitable for the children but also for the adults as I got to know so many things about our history such as ; About Kamadhenu, Brave Horse of Maharana Pratap, how unique Jugnu's are, about the Khichdi, Banyan Tree, Chatak bird and why it craves for first drop of cloud, Vasuki, Sagittarius, Nalanda University & at last about the Kutch. I couldn't find any other book as helpful as this which not only gives joy of reading but also takes us close towards the historic reality.
It's really hard to choose anyone as a favourite story, yet the story to which I connected the most was 'The Secret Dish'. I'm not just a food lover but also enjoys cooking and the history of recipe mentioned in this story is indeed one of my favourite food that I consume atleast once in 15 days. Knowing about it was such a pleasurable experience.
Ira Tiwari with her writing is successful to showcase the importance of Moral qualities and how rich & interesting our culture and history is. Not even a single story disappointed me. Even though at the end, I found the stories bit lengthy but again they were worth to spend our time on. The impressive illustrations will provoke the reading culture among children also gifting them knowledge. Overall, it's a book that will meet all our expectations.

Written for young readers between the age of 4 to 17 years, "The Gifted Fly" is a nostalgic retelling of the folklores and mythological stories that every Indian has grown up listening to. A collection of 20 stories that are deeply rooted in Indian culture, this book can be recommended for children as bedtime stories. With a beautiful cover and a catchy title, this book also has a stimulus at the end of each story for children to gain more knowledge and to help them become more responsible and compassionate human beings. It's a nice book to teach compassion and love to children.
A few things which could have been better in this book:
✳ While the stories are interesting from a young reader's perspective, at times the narration was crude in the initial few stories which improved gradually in later chapters.
✳ There were several places where sentences were repeated when the page switched. Probably, a better beta reading or editing could have helped eliminate it.
✳ Also, the inclusion of more illustrations would help to keep the children engaged as young readers find illustrations more interesting than too much text. At present, there is only one illustration per story that is related to any random scene. Not very useful and hard to relate from a child's point of view.
✳ Lastly, since this book is for young readers, hardcover books go much better with children than paperbacks. Maybe the author and publisher can consider it for future prints of this book.
The Gifted Fly written by Ira Tiwari. Back to the Nostalgic feels! Yea, a collection of short stories, a treat for all the children out there. Some folklores, and some ( My Favs ) mythological stories, giving a simple message to the kids & telling them some life lessons through 20 short tales.
Speaking of stories, you might have already heard or read it but you can definitely give a shot re-reading it even if your age is 8+. And for the children, I've already said, it is a pure treat for them.
This book as a whole is something beautifully made. All thanks to Unnati Vyas for the cover and illustrations. The beautiful pictures in every story gave a perfect touch to the book.
The length of every story was not so long, that was a plus point, especially for the children. As this would help them to have a proper grip.
As this book is for all the children majorly, I really believe every child will not only like this book but love it. Having this book on their bookshelf will surely give them a feeling of pride.
In chapter 4 - Prithu and The Squirrel
The author writes at the end, "Being born as a human is not superiority, it's a blessing. When you see a creature weaker than you, help and uplift them. That's the true privilage of being human, to be able to help others."
“The Gifted Fly” by Ira Tiwari is a beautiful anthology of twenty illustrated short stories that takes readers on a fun filled ride to a world full of unimaginable characters and engrossing situations with a deep message encapsulated within it. These stories are inspired by the traditional and folklore tales depicting our rich and diverse heritage, mythology and customs.
The beautiful illustrations makes this collection of stories more attractive and successfully captivate the attention of young readers towards it. The book is so well designed and stories are so well weaved that each single story piques the imagination and creativity of readers. It not only serves as medium of entertainment but also strives to inculcate certain moral values which can be of great use to readers especially the younger ones, in addition to that it brings children closer to their roots and sensitise them with our traditions and heritage.
Overall, written in a simple and lucid language with strong characters and engrossing stories, “The Gifted Fly” is a fast paced, intriguing and enchanting collection of short stories that keeps readers hooked in its content. A perfect treat and gift to children for summers.
The gifted fly is a collection of 20 children's stories. These stories are mostly fairies in the Indian context. But some stories have different story treks from fairytales. The author herself mentioned that she has picked the plot from Indian mythology to science, nature to kingdom everything.
Writing a children's book by an adult is more difficult than writing other genres. Because the author has to understand the psychology of a child. They have to write from a children's perspective, and have to see the world from a child's eye. It's not easy. But the author here is successful in it. She has written the stories for children which are not only sweet but also for children. Although her academic studies were not related to child psychology, she is good at it. She has written every story very beautifully which not only children will enjoy but adults will also love to read. Apart from the writing the graphics are also very beautiful. Graphics are a very important part in children's literature as they can connect with the writing through the pictures. So along with the writer the graphics artist has also done its job perfectly. The language as I mentioned earlier is lucid and perfect for kids. In short this is a perfect book for kids.
There are many little ways to enlarge your world. Love of books is the best of all.

The Gifted Fly_Ira Tiwari. The gifted fly is a compilation of 20 short stories, each brimming with a moral at the end. Going through this made me really believe that there is no age limit for enjoying such wonderful stories. This made me go back to my childhood, when I use to lay on my grandmother's lap enjoying such moral yarns. The two stories that caught my attention the most ,where The Thread of Love and The Pomegranate Princess. As soon as I received the book, the charasmetic cover made me delve straight into it. Multi heart touching narratives, eye catching and colourful illustrations stand as an attractive aspect of the read.
The stories not only teach moral values but also impart mythological informations. I also loved and enjoyed the little piece of Stimuli added at the end of each story.
The book comes up with a decent writing style. The language used is very simple and easy to understand. This book can really turn to be one of the best bedtime stories.

"You are a beautiful creature and are unique. When I created you, I thought of all the goodness inside and that this light will act as a reminder for others that there is an inner light inside everybody." . When its a children's book, I look no further. I still love reading them about fairies, magical world, kings and their kingdoms. Not only the stories are delightful and refreshing, but the colourful illustrations are definitely a treat to the eyes. A gifted fly and other stories is a similar book specially curated for children. The stories are based on traditional mythologies and folklore followed by life lessons and fun activities. The title of the book is one of the twenty stories being weaved in the book. It focuses on the teachings of self worth and understanding the nature of every being on this earth. Indeed I can't miss the attraction of the book- the illustrations. The font size was just perfect for any age-group readers. The language of the book was kept simple. One can also read the book to the kids during bed time. However, there were some typos and grammatical errors that needed to be fixed.
🔸 The gifted fly is a collection of 20 beautifully illustrated stories about Indian culture and tradition. The illustrations are so attractive that any kid would pick it up and read them easily. All the stories are captivating and enthralling with morals. 💫 🔹Few of my favourite stories are the stone Princess, tale of Gauri and her three brothers, The divine friendship, the weaver and the Kasturi deer, the clever queen basmati, The secret dish, the thread of love, Nachiketa, Ramtanu, Dinkar, urvi and Sudhakar and the lost river. 💫 🔸I bought this eye-catching book for my 7-year-old kid who enjoyed reading it. All the stories are unique and special in their own way. I can see a few lines/ paragraphs are repeatedly typed in a few stories. Could have done with the editing one more time. 💫 🔹Stories in this book have animals, insects, and trees as characters and they all can speak that reminded me of Panchatantra stories which I read as a child. Each story has something to learn in it for the children. Not to forget the Stimuli section was like icing on the cake of the book which added more advantages to it. I would recommend this to all the young readers.

Unnati Vyas has done an excellent job in crafting the cover with sparkling blue color that is instantly making me flip through the pages. Talking about the language, it was crisp, fast paced making it perfect for bedtime stories. I loved how the author explained the stories and creation of the important characters of Hindu mythology in a down to earth manner, making it easy for kids to grasp. My favorite has to be the story of Nachiketa. His bravery and curiosity is what we can see in kids. Childhood is the time to dream, to gather knowledge and try out new things- that's exactly what Nachiketa did! I think these stories can influence the children to be more responsible, kind, passionate, brave, and respectful to everyone.

The Gifted Fly is a short story collection tailor-made for impressionable young minds. The book formatting is done keeping in mind the fleeting attention span of the younglings. An anthology of 20 short stories, dipped in Indian mythology, this book was an exciting and enticing read. The colorful illustrations do the job of sustaining the youngsters' attention and keep them invested in the stories throughout.
The writing style was reader friendly and kept me flipping pages without pause. The stories have morals, and every story left me with a warm and fuzzy feeling. The underlying themes of the stories ranged from hope and perseverance to love, kindness, and faith.
The diction was compelling and smooth. It is abundantly clear that the author has impressive writing prowess. Her story-telling skills are magical and pure - something that is a mandate when writing childrens' fiction.
This book has a collection of 20 stories posess an essence of ancient India. The characters used in the story have a prominent place in our scriptures and mythology which makes it a magical read. It's interesting to connect the dots with the stories which are at crossroads in our head.
Each story has a deep rooted moral which enables the little ones to put their thinking cap on and the stimuli at the end breaks the monotony by fuelling their mind with a lot of ideas and activities.
The cover and illustrations are a treat to the eyes adding the right amount of visual quotient to the beautiful stories.
I personally liked the story named The Weaver And Kasturi Deer where it's depicted that no matter who your competitor is and what he is upto, your art and your loyalty towards it will fetch you laurels.
@sabahmanna I'm sure Mehrish and Maairah would love to read this one.
The author has filled the stories with different colors of Indian traditions, craft, divinity of human mind, love, care, imagination and dedication.
There's no specific time period to read such book which has beautiful short stories with pictures attached and on the top morals to justify the title. I won't hesitate to admit that I was enjoying the book as much a kid would have been enjoyed. The cover is too vibrant and the character portrayal seems as if they're trying to communicate with us in real. Somehow I feel attached with the characters and was enjoying the journey together.
'While reading these stories, one can feel the soul of ancient India' ~ The book will take you in your childhood days where everything seems right and beautiful, the stories from mythology we felt real, the warmth of granny's lap with mesmerizing lullaby's.
The gorgeous book cover transported me to my childhood. The author of "The Gifted Fly and other stories" has made it very attractive, and I fell in love with it at first glance. Though, it is best suited for children of 5-13 years. Yet, at the same time, I could not hold back the temptation of not going through it.
The book comprises beautiful illustrations. The author's magical words pushed me back to my childhood days. After dinner, all the cousins used to sit in a circle with our grandmother to listen to her stories. Every story ended with some virtuous qualities incorporated into our daily lives.
This book contains 20 chapters, and the titles are captivating. Every story absorbs the reader, and a moral value is given in the end. Thank You, Ira Tiwari, for returning our innocent days to us. One of the best bedtime tales I have read so far in modern times.
As the beautiful coverpage suggests, this children's literature filled me with nostalgia and reinvigorated my love for Indian mythology and flocklore. India has a rich tradition of unique stories and this book covered several themes like kings, magical releams and many more along with mythology.
I liked several stories and few of my favorites are the four cardinal directions and the weaver and the kasturi deer. The book is rich in Indian traditions and the illustrations enhanced the reading experience. Each of the 20 stories had something new to offer to the children.
I only craved for more illustrations considering this is a children's story book. Though the language is lucid and the font is easy to read, I'm expecting more from the young author. Good luck and recommended for all children.
