Lourde and Barrett's story continues in this steamy, angsty, and forbidden love story.
Lourde I've fallen so deep for Barrett, that there's no turning back. He is the man that I cannot be without. The man that lights a fire between my thighs that burns all night long. But when his world spins upside down, he does something completely unexpected. He pushes me away.
Barrett She is the only girl for me, but deep down I know I don't deserve Lourde. She is perfect, flawless and the only person that completes me. But when my business world is threatened, I have to protect her, and the only way I know how is to push her away. Problem is, I don't think I can stay away.
Missy is an Australian author who writes kissing books with equal parts angst and steam. She loves writing stories about billionaires, enemies to lovers, and the boy next door- just to name a few.
When she’s not writing, she’s taking care of her two daughters and doting husband.
Inspired by the acreage she lives on, Missy regularly distracts herself by visiting her orchard… some days more often than writing!
Then there’s her overweight cat, Charlie, chickens, and bees if she needed another excuse to pass the time.
And, when the day ends, there’s nothing better than unwinding with a gin and tonic as the sunsets surrounded by the ones she loves.
Forbidden Love is book 2 in the Elite Men of Manhattan series. Lourde and Barrett’s story continues in this steamy, age gap, and forbidden love story.
Lourde Diamond has fallen in love with Barrett, she cannot stay away from his touch and wants their relationship to stay hidden. But when someone proves their out to get him, it sends him spinning and he completely pushes me away which causes me to hurt down to my soul.
Barrett Black knows that Lourde is the woman for him, his other half, but he doesn't believe he is good enough to deserve her love. When his business is threatened, he has to protect her and the only way to do that is by pushing her away. However, can I stay away is the question?
Forbidden-Just was not it… If you’re looking for a forbidden romance this isn’t forbidden. Yes, it is best friends younger sister- but there is just a slight age gap of 8 years. If that isn’t for you this isn’t it.
The spice was 🌶🌶 At least for me. The main male character Barrett made this entire book read worthy. This love unfolded because of a tragedy in his past he just couldn’t bare to break. I am so glad I continued to read on to see him unfold. I normally do not connect with main female characters, as they immediately just fall for the main male character, which this one has been Lin love for YEARS hence the best friends sister.
I only gave this a 3, like the 1st book-hoping that the story would really heat up and there would be a lot more push and pull between the characters. The story flatlined and the push and pull just diminished. I feel like this book could have been completed in one book. But, I finished it in sitting.
You will fall in love with both leading characters. As well as the brother, as he was not a crazed possessive brother like in most best friend books. Lourde’s parents were absolutely annoying, I felt Ike there could have A) been more to the storyline of the sabotaging or B) the book should have ended in book 1.
I do recommend, the spice was a medium leveled spice. It was a cute read that will keep you reading to see how it turns out. But, it was an abrupt ending, with really no real finish to their storyline. Just the ending to the book-and onward to Conners story in book 3. Which didn’t interest me at all. . .
Happy reading.

4⭐️3🌶️ This book is the sequel to Forbidden Lust and the follow up to Lourde and Barrett’s story. I have to admit, I really enjoyed it! Don’t get me wrong, the book annoyed me with the grammar issues: missing quotations, missing letters and incorrect words. But I saw through that and still was about to love the couple.
It was interesting how in the first book Barrett was Mr. Playboy and how right away, this book, he was all in. It was like a switch was flipped. And Lourde was the one who is apprehensive about going public. This did have to do with the stress her brother was under, but she also kinda wanted to keep them in this little love bubble ♥️
Throughout the book, there are lots of interesting, minor twists, and turns. Pepper and her mysterious flu. Connor and his mysterious “noises” at his place. But you also got a glimpse into the relationship of Lourde’s parents, and why her dad was supportive of her. And let’s not talk about Jessica! Barrett was way too kind about her and the end! Then there was Barrett and Evelyn’s relationship, I loved seeing more of them!
Oh, and if you want lots of sex scenes. This book has a ton! They are to detailed. But there is lots & lots!
All in all, it was a good book. But I’m not sure if I’m gonna continue the series, considering the length of these books and the cost to read them.
This is the second book in the Elite Men of Manhattan series, following Lourde and Barrett as they navigate their complicated relationship.
I loved it, but I do feel this could have just been one book if you'd taken out some of the unnecessary chapters. I'm all for some good smut, but by about 50% in, every chapter was them running off to have sex somewhere, and it didn't really move the plot on enough, and they were acting like it had been months when it had been weeks. I loved the relationship between Lourde and Barrett, and that won me over, but some of it was just filler bits. I know it's Connor's book next, but I would have liked an epilogue from Barrett rather than Connor.
Her mother was annoying, mainly because I think she was jealous that Lourde was getting a choice she never did, but in the end, that fell flat when the sexual assault stuff happened. It was almost too late, and they needed to be apart longer to build the tension. I also thought the people messing with his business weren't important enough; Hunter or someone we don't expect would have made more sense. I didn't know it was a big enough deal; I think that's what stopped it from getting the five stars. There were a few bits left unanswered, I guess.
But I loved it! I may come back to the series in the next few weeks. Great Facebook find.
To be honest, I think maybe 3 stars might be generous. The main draw to this author/series for me was a premise of forbidden love that brought some spice with it. And I guess it did those things but I just found the men of both the first book and this one to be so gross. They just love fucking any woman that’s willing, bragging about it and then judging the women in their life for wanting the same sexual freedom. And I realize men will be men but I guess maybe I prefer to read about men that have a bit more respect and moral integrity.
The dialogue is once again just so cringy and I found it hard to believe this man who is self-admittedly incapable of love suddenly can’t live without Lourde and wants the world to know they’re together. Now, I’m not a professional writer by a long stretch but another thing I struggled with is the actual structure; the grammar or punctuation etc. So many instances of there being a conversation where there’s either a beginning or an end quote but not both, a couple instances where it seemed like there was a back and forth in convo but the convo didn’t actually make sense because the same character spoke twice, or once when Barrett calls Connor Barrett.

Lourde and Barrett are addictive and deserve to be together. Forbidden Love is the continuation of their epic love journey. It starts right at the end of Forbidden Lust, where they realize they can’t be without each other. Yet, they continue to maintain their relationship a secret.
Lourde shows she is independent and capable, with an eye for interior design that might come in handy for a construction mogul like Barrett. He encourages Lourde to prove to her family she is so much more than the potential Stepford wife they would like her to be. Their connection is insane, and Lourde quickly becomes Barrett’s confidant. In fact, he opens up about things he has never told anyone.
But Barrett’s biggest fault is that he doesn’t believe he is worthy of love, much less of Lourde. And in his intent to protect her and do “the right thing”, he will hurt her. Will they be able to survive and show everyone they are meant to be?
I love Missy Walker’s storytelling and character development. She continues to amaze me with each new book. The intricate plot, the feeling, and the swoon-worthy moments… are the best!
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Loved it! Would recommend and really great. 🌶️: start at 50% vanilla sex, around 3 described scenes, might have praise kink and maybe one butt play scene.
lourde and barrett's romance takes a tumultuous turn as both grapple with their feelings and the challenges that threaten to tear them apart. lourde finds herself deeply in love with barrett, unable to envision her life without him, while barrett, feeling undeserving of her perfection, struggles to protect her amidst turmoil in his business affairs. despite their undeniable connection, barrett makes the difficult decision to distance himself from lourde, believing it to be the only way to keep her safe. however, both are left grappling with the ache of separation and the undeniable pull drawing them back together.
i really enjoyed it, i was captivated by lourde and barrett's relationship, which kept me invested. i wished for an epilogue from barrett's perspective instead of connor's in the next book. lourde's mother was irritating, possibly out of jealousy over lourde's freedom of choice. it was a great conclusion to their character arc and i am very excited for the next book in the series. i am hoping for a redemption arc for connor.
tropes: billionaire, age gap, brother's best friend triggers: sexual assault (unwanted kiss from ex)
When doing right turns out wrong Reading this book my heart broke for Barrett: twice in his life he tried to do the right thing and it turned out terribly wrong for him and he blames himself for the outcome although what happened definetely wasn´t his mistake. Fortunately his sister and Lourde stand by him no matter what and finally convince him he is worth being loved. As far as Lourde is concerned I was shocked her upper class family care more for social standing and public reputation than their daughter/ sister´s happiness. Sadly things like these happen in real life, too. I received this book as a review copy.
When it came time for the drama, that’s what annoyed me the most. He left that dinner after picking her only to get to her apartment to break it off AND she literally took it so easy telling him to leave 🙄🙄 Also the brother and best friend, erked me how it was written (don’t know why). I also wished there was more on her dad and mother but I’m hoping that comes up in the brother’s book!!
Anyway, was a decent story and I just liked Barrett the dreamy fucker 😮💨
I wasn't a huge fan of this one. Same drama just a different book. Not to mention the punctuation in this one was God-awful. Quotation marks started but not ended. Or ended but never started. I usually never comment on it either, because I get that it can happen in books. But this was really bad.
I feel like I have to read the next two because I bought them in a bundle, but I'm honestly worried it's going to be the same thing. Except this one will be sister's best friend and same age gap. And Pepper doesn't seem anymore mature than Lourde did. Ugh...
This is the second book in the Elite Men of Manhattan series, continuing the story of Loudre and Barrett that began in the first book.
As a novel, it is much better than the previous one. We learn a little more about Barrett's inner world and past. We see a more determined Loudre, willing to fight for what she wants and not follow family ties and expectations.
The development of the story of the two protagonists alone makes it worth reading. Additionally, the spicy scenes in this book are worth it and make it much better.
Holiday read as part of the set the second installment in the Elite men of Manhattan and Loude & Barrett's love story . Heartbreak, arson, crane accidents, sexual harassment their a lot of things against the pair in this book , the story is enjoyable yet predictable and the next pair to have a story was a massive yeah I knew it kinda thing. I have to read the 3rd installment as I need to read the conclusion of Loude & Barrett's story even though we mainly know what the next installment is going to be about.
This is the second book in this amazing series and Barrett and Lourde’s journey continues. Barrett is Lourde’s brothers’ best friends, and he does not feel that he is worthy of being loved, and he and Lourde keep their relationship a secret. This is a well written story which has angst, forbidden love, family, friendships, secrets, and is a steamy and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
I read book 1 when it first came out and let me tell you. I fell in love. Barrett is one hell of a man and knows exactly what he’s doing in bed. 😉😉😏😏
This book, is soo good, showing you exactly what love is and what it should be. Lourde and Barrett’s story is definitely one we wish we could all have. Forbidden, and a great sex life. Omg let me tell you!!
“Your like a drug to me, dollface. One hit is never enough.”
Loved this book, loved all the characters, obviously lots more sexy action to come. Lourde and Bennet are one very hot couple when they eventually get there. Bennet has a dark secret which he hides from everyone and Lourde Diamond comes from a very rich old money family that refuses anyone in to their family that will tarnish their name. What's a big sexy Alpha to do? Great book, thoroughly enjoyed the hot sex!!!! WOW!😍😍😍😍😍
I couldn't put this follow up book of Barrett and Lourde down. I lost sleep so I could finish it. Barrett gets framed and throws away his true love so her family isn't tarnished by the shadow his name brings. He finds out what and who and his sister has to push him out of his bottle of booze to punish them and get his true love back. Plenty of heated scenes. Can't wait for the next book.
All the feels in this book! Missy Walker does a beautiful job of roping her readers in immediately with this book.
Steamy, and complete seduction captivates you from the moment you read the first page. Barrett and Lourdes love story is heart warming and down right the sweetest. I can feel his love for her coming through each page.
I’ve read a-lot of her books and I’m currently on the 4th of this series. You won’t regret reading these steamy love stories!
So far, I am loving this series. Lourde and Barrett got their HEA after all. No matter how many arranged marriages that Lourde's mother Elizabeth tries to set her up with, her love never wavers from Barrett. With his haunting past, he was able to open up to Lourde what he was hiding in his past. With all the incidents happening in Barrett's career/life, he was able to get the issue resolved and put those enemies behind bars and got the love of his life back.
This is my second read by this author. This storyline was addictive needing to know how things would go... the character chemistry off the charts. Side characters were brilliant but did not over shadow the main characters. I loved the angst and all the twist this book took. The authir did a great job. There are some great steamy scenes to! Highly Recomend this book series!
This was such a great conclusion to Lourde and Barrett's story. It definitely gave 50 shades vibes with the billionaire and having someone going after him and his company. But I think that this couple was just cute together.
I'm hoping the next book goes back in time some to show the beginning of Conner and Piper and not picking up from where this one ends.
Serious Lourde and Barrett addiction, and this book left me yet, needing more of them. This is the second book in the Elite men series, be sure to read the first one before reading this one. Trust me, the first book will have you ready to stay up all night to dive in to book 2 to find out where Lourde and Barret end up.
Forbidden Love is the continuation of Forbidden Lust. I loved how their relationship changed them both. There were still moments, where I wanted to yell at them to grow a pair hahaha. I truly felt for Barrett. I was on his side from the start and wished more for him. Their ending was sweet. I wonder how much of them we will have in the rest of the series.
I wasn't happy that her family got in the way of their happiness but I am happy it was only temporary. Barett literally worships the ground Lourde walks on and the toasted oat's scene melted my heart!! Lourde is such a great FMC! She is bold, smart and naughty, which makes her a fun and engaging person to read about.
Such a great continuing from the last book, such amazing character developments and well timed complications with fitting resolutions with so much spice!!. I thoroughly enjoyed the series so far and excited to continue on to the next.
