I had this novella for a couple of months, but only read it now on the first day of my vacation. And I think I’ve found another author for the handful of (female) writers who create books within the genre of BDSM Romances I like and keep on reading.
It is a novella, but it is well settled inside the world of this club, named Reuben’s after its owner, and you follow and like the main characters of this story, especially Megan, her former Dom, Reuben Weston, and her new mystery Dom Mr. Weston had offered to introduce her to. Except for three chapters told by the mysterious Dom, we follow Megan’s POV, experience the feelings she had for the past five years she had no Dom, and the new hope she develops with this guy mentored by Mr. Weston. Each chapter is opened by a cocktail recipe that ask for being tried.
It’s lovely to read how Megan overcomes the initial struggle to find who this Dom is she’s “playing the game” with since she doesn’t know and can’t see him because she’s obliged to wear a blindfold during their scenes. And even though I tried to find out his identity, I had no idea until the accidental disclosure the same day “Sir” has planned but before he could set his plan in motion. Their growing relationship shows the growing trust and understanding and mutual give-and-take they develop over a long time, establishing the “connection” Megan is craving.
Leaves to say that the scenes between these two are intense and hot and lovely. Looking forward to reading Ashes of Sin and Stardust and The Goddess.
