I can’t be trusted around humans. Especially sweet schoolteachers...

I’m the guy you don’t want to meet in a dark alley. And that’s just my human side — my wolf is so untamed and dangerous even supernaturals fear me.

I’m known for my ability to hunt and kill. It doesn’t matter to me that my next assignment is a small-town schoolteacher. I don’t ask questions.

Then I see Serene for the first time. The wolf in me knows immediately she’s my mate and I’m not going to let anyone else touch her. Except with a contract out on her life, if I don’t kill her, someone else will.

I’ll need to get close to her. Too close. It’s the only way I can protect her. But protecting her from my wolf will be an entirely different story...

The cover is lovely and the blurb is intriguing, but nothing captured me about this story. It was bland and the characters are bland. I wasn’t won over. It’s a quick read. I was hoping for more of a blend with the werewolf pack and MC vibe. Their was promise but it was meh for me.

Despite the truly lovely cover and very intriguing blurb for Possessive Alpha Wolf, I really didn’t enjoy the story. Nothing really seemed to gel for me– the relationship between Tevin and Selene was interesting, but the characters were bland, even given the story being told in alternating first-person POV. There’s a lot of brutality depicted, most of it at Tevin’s hands, which fits the dark and dangerous motorcycle club element, but the descriptions were more graphic than I like in my romance reads. I was quite interested with how the author intended to blend a MC and a pack, but in the end found the werewolf aspects almost off-putting – if you’re looking for a welcoming family-feeling ‘pack’ here, you’re not going to find it. These aren’t the kind of werewolves that like humans, but at the same time, we only really get hints about how they live, we don’t really get to see how they function as a pack or as a motorcycle club because the story is centered on the action going on in Selene’s life. As a further (though slight) annoyance, the description of the wolf as ‘Alpha’ in the title doesn’t seem to fit the book, as Tevin is NOT an Alpha, and the series title of Demon Hollowers isn’t in the book anywhere, nor did I spot any demons or a hint of what a ‘hollower’ might be. Ultimately I found the story underwhelming and not at all what I look for in a paranormal romance.

The story had potential, but fell short. The flow was very stop & go & the writing style felt awkward. There were a lot of missed opportunities, from building a believable relationship beyond the “mate bond”, to filling in gaps in the plot. There wasn’t even really chemistry there between the main characters. The character development was flat, I really didn’t feel like I learned much about the main characters. The Cliff-hanger ending made no sense, the relationship is established, so the main characters have an HEA, so I didn’t get the mystery of why they leave pack lands the way they did or why the book had to end that way. It definitely ruined the book for me. I definitely wouldn’t read more in this series.

This book was very entertaining. I liked it but I also consider it to be fluff. You know, not much substance and not believable in the least. I just couldn’t get behind this innocent teacher falling for the big biker dude. Although I must admit that their attraction to each other was extremely palpable. I liked Serene but she’s TSTL in a big chunk of the story. No educated person would deal with things the way that she did.

Something that I really thought was cool was the way that the authors tied together the story of Snow White with this story. I liked the comparisons. I also like how those parts were written in a foreshadowing type of way.

I don’t believe I’ve come across either of the narrators before. They both did a wonderful job of bringing the story to life. Allie Martina used different voices for the different characters. I really appreciate narrators doing that to differentiate the characters.

Finding his center

I am so glad I picked up this book! The characters were fantastic! Her gentle sweetness off-set his rough and tumble bad boy making them the perfect couple. But not without a few bumps along the way. I enjoyed the family feel of the story, and the danger that only brought them closer. This book was the perfect weekend read and I can’t wait to see what happens in book two.

Firstly i would like to comment on the title... Alpha wolf.. If he is alpha wolf then what about Ben? If Tevin is an enforcer then I'd at least put him a Delta. to have two Alphas in 1 pack is highly unlikely as they would probably constantly fight for dominance. So the title is a mis representation of the book since the main character of this book is clearly not an Alpha in the story, he is also mentioned to be an enforcer of the pack. I didn't mind some parts of this book it was at best ok. SPOILERS....So she finds out Tevin was sent to kill her After he saved her from 2 guys who tried to kill her. He goes on to explain about her stepmother and she doesn't want to hear it. She doesn't care that he saved her life nothing its get out don't ever see me again. Then she finds out she is with child and what does she do literally goes to her stepmothers house and after everything that happens and she see Tevin shift and hears his explanation of why he killed the stepmother shes like "i love you im yours forever" ...? it was stupid there was no emotional build absolutely nothing, oh and did i mention when she found out she was pregnant she didn't even bother to tell him... even though he saved her life, even though she already says how she likes the huntsman more because he saved snow white and protected her?
Also he makes such a huge deal about pack being family and important then for absolutely no reason the cliff hanger is he and his mate/child abandoned the pack and ran away?

Now my biggest annoyance was Why was Ben the second book? She already set up Mel with the shifter out of town. It woulda made a lot more sense for her to be the second book, She just randomly threw Morgan in for no reason.... honestly with the issues with this book and random new characters in the 2nd i have a very small desire to read it. Skye could have made something great with this book. the way i woulda done it is ...

Have MC need some time and space away from Tevin after the guys broke in... then she finds out a month or so later she is pregnant, and because of that decides its time to sit and hear him out so she gives him one chance to tell her the Whole true and she makes this clear. So he is then somewhat forced to tell her he is a shifter and thats where she finds out. That would also be when she tells him she is pregnant. Then i would have her say she is ok to take a slow relationship to process everything. When he asks her on a date she mentions about confronting her stepmother and she doesn't really listen to him and goes anyway meanwhile he is trying to catch up to her.... then i would have the events at the home take place with Tevin rescuing her. After passing out and Tevin getting her safe shes a big overwhelmed and keeps saying he needs to go but being an alpha wolf hes like "No".. your mine i love you and im going to damn well look after you like it or not... after giving in and sobbing EVERYTHING out hes just cuddles her gently kisses her and takes care of her. when they get home they have a walk on the beach some gentle talking and she realises how much he loves her and they end up cuddling and dating properly again.

As for the wolf in the bar i would've had him as a lone wolf (perhaps he lost his pack and grieving) and at some point during the story had it he helped Tevin out, or Tevin and his mate went to breakfast with Mel and she brings the wolf as her date. Something (an understanding) passes between the to men. I would have it Tevin left his pack to be with his mate because who would want to raise a baby where your dealing with dodgy weapons ect... and because the women are besties the guys hang out together and find they got a lot in common and get along and become and unofficial pack, at which point you could introduce more shifters into the town and other characters a new teacher? or Mels sister? and slowly the wolves become a pack of there own with Tevin being the unofficial leader.
Obviously then book 2 would be Mels story and book 3 her sisters (or whoever)

Possessive Alpha Wolf
A Paranormal Shifter Romance (Demon Hollowers Motorcycle Club, Book 1)
By: Skye Wilson, Lindsey Devin
Narrated by: Allie Martina, Jack Calihan

I enjoyed this book immensely, the story is original, with interesting storylines that drew me in right from the start, grabbing my attention and captivating it the entire time. Tevin, a wolf shifter and an enforcer for the Demon Hollowers, takes what is supposed to be a fast and easy hit job. Except the person he is supposed to knock off turns out to be his mate, making matters worse she is not a wolf, only an ordinary human. Shifters keep to themselves for a reason, and they do not reveal themselves and their supernatural shifter ability to humans. Serene, a schoolteacher, comes home to find out she is inheriting a fortune from her birth father, problem is she did not know she was adopted and she is not sure how she feels about taking that money. She knows she always wanted to do more for the school and kids, so this would be the perfect opportunity to do so if she takes that money. And her luck gets even better when she meets the gorgeous, rough around the edges man while getting coffee and the two hit it off right from the start. Tevon is sticking around to make sure no other attempts are made on her life, he knows the woman who wants her dead wants her inheritance, she was married to her birth father for ten years and thinks she is entitled to it. Will Serene run when she finds out her life is in danger and the person who is protecting her is a wolf shifter and claims to be her mate? This fast-moving story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, some angst, action, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions, and some hot romance. The world building and character development are fantastic too.

🎧 📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, the authors chose the perfect narrators to bring their characters and story to life, Allie Martina and Jack Calihan are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they were portraying, giving each a voice that fit that character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I picture the characters to sound. Allie Martina’s Serene was spot on, she grasped her every emotion and her strength. Jack Calihan played the perfect big bad wolf and was not afraid to show his softer side as well. These two are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to, their voices complemented each other and their narration helped enhance the story to another level. Thank you for another great listen.

NOTE: The KU volume for book one actually contained the entire trilogy – not a single outing!
Book one world-building, character guides and notes a major conflict to play out. Bookis3s two and three introduce/continue a common foe, conflict and expands the world as another element is introduced. This review posted on all three books.
Possessive Alpha Wolf: Tevin & Serene – 2.75stars
Tevin Novak was nearly feral when he found pack and shows his loyalty by never turning down a job. He doesn’t flinch when he gets the job is to eliminate schoolteacher Serene Duran but his wolf gets a whiff. The only blight on Serene’s life is her tiny town’s lack of romantic possibilities. She’s uncertain about a letter she receives but would rather think about Tevin, a sexy, new biker in town whose eyes are only for her. This outing had plot gaps, bland MC couple and poor pacing.
Dominating Alpha Wolf: Ben & Morgan – Rating 3stars
Alpha Ben is leery of human/shifter pairings is because of his past. In town he’s got a head of steam for Tevin but pulls up short after scenting librarian Morgan. Avid reader Morgan dreams of adventure and a love of her own but a lifetime of bullies has made her distrustful of men, surely Ben’s no different! Inexplicably, Morgan develops a new skill that makes her a target of the wolves primary enemy and leads to imprisonment. (Another bland pairing and poor pacing)
Protective Alpha Wolf: Charles & Melanie – Rating 3stars
With the pack alpha and enforcer protecting their human mates on the packlands, it’s up to beta Charles to go to town and determine how far the fae have infiltrated and retrieve Serene’s best friend, fellow schoolteacher, Melanie. Charles’ timing couldn’t be more perfect as he arrives at Melanie’s, the fae try to capture her. They barely escape as Charles realizes Melanie is his mate! This much too convenient trilogy conclusion features a third couple with no chemistry.

'Possessive Alpha Wolf' by Skye Wilson and Lindsey Devin is the first book in their new series Demon Hollowers Motorcycle Club and tells the story between Serene, a kindergarten teacher, and Tevin, a wolf shifter and member of the Demon Hollowers. Serene's life was normal, probably a bit boring, she worked as a teacher, had friends and loving parents. Until one day she received a letter that turned her life upside down. Serene found out that she had been adopted as a baby and her biological father passed away and left her his fortune. She didn't know what she was supposed to do with either the money or the new information about her background.

Tevin's club received a job offer that would pay very well. A woman's husband died and left his fortune to a daughter she did not know about. She wanted her gone and she wanted done now. Ben, Tevin's president and alpha, gave him the job. Tevin usually did the unsavory jobs because he felt he owed the club his loyalty since they took him in as a feral cub and now deal with his feral wolf. Tevin goes to take care of business and when he sees his target is a bit taken aback because she looks so innocent, but that's not his concern. However, when he caught her scent and realized she was his mate it became his concern. His task changed, it now became his job to protect Serene.

Ms. Wilson and Ms. Devin have written an intriguing story to kick off their new series. This book has a compelling story with likable characters. I like how Tevin wanted to protect Serene from any harm, even himself. This story has twists and turns, deceit, mystery, suspense, action, passion, and steamy encounters. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who likes a bit of drama with their romance.

This fast-paced paranormal romance delivers an irresistible mix of danger, passion, and fate. A hardened wolf shifter—part of a motorcycle club that doubles as a shifter pack—is sent to kill a kindergarten teacher. But the moment he sees her, everything changes. He knows instantly: she’s his fated mate. Killing her is no longer an option. Protecting her becomes his only mission.

He finds a way into her life, and what begins as chance meetings quickly spirals into an intense, whirlwind romance. Even as assassins close in, he keeps her safe—killing in the shadows while she remains unaware of the danger stalking her.

The tension rises when her mysterious past surfaces. Adopted and unaware of her true lineage, she discovers her biological father has died and left her a massive inheritance. But his widow—the woman who raised her—is determined to see her dead to claim it all.

When the truth comes out and she witnesses the beast within her protector, the trust shatters. Heartbroken and terrified, she sends him away. But love this deep can’t be undone. Fate doesn’t care about fear or fury—it only cares about bringing soulmates together.

If you love possessive protectors, strong heroines, and shifter romance with a pulse-pounding plot, this one will keep you hooked from start to finish.

Audio Note:
While the story was engaging, the female narrator’s slight lisp made the audio experience difficult for me. It was distracting enough that I won’t continue listening to audiobooks narrated by her. However, I’m still invested in the series and will happily continue reading it on Kindle.

Ok - Liked it

A short supernatural romance re-telling of Snow White where the hero is the Huntsman originally sent to kill her. The hero, Tevin Novak, is a 20-something wolf-shifter who grew up in the foster system, and the only family he has ever known is the pack / Motorcycle Club that took him in. However, that changes when he looks at the woman his pack took a contract to kill and realizes that she is his mate. The heroine, 29-year-old Serene Duran, is a kindergarten teacher in a small northern California town. She is innocent and small town sweet, but when it's revealed she was adopted and her biological father left his fortune to her - her biological father's wife wants her dead.

I wasn't sure about this one in the beginning, but I liked it by the end. The characters inhabit such different worlds that at first I thought the unbelievability factor was just a bit too high of a hurdle for me to enjoy the book. But, if you're willing to just go with it, I thought it was worth reading. Also of note, includes fated mates with insta-lust / love on both sides.

Murder by wolf ripping throat out, murder by snapping neck, murder by knife to heart, bloody murder scenes - as above.

The setting on how this was written first off - was really good. It was easy to immerse what was happening with the descriptions and easy to feel myself in the setting.

However I did have a lot of questions ending the book. Not only that but this book does go with a pretty stereotypical flow in plot, so there's no surprising twists in here - just a no surprise.

*Spoilers*
I did enjoy this book, but did feel the pregnancy thing was sort of really unnecessary - it felt like that was the loop to close why they'd still be accepted by the pack? And in the end it was weird on how it goes to a different POV and I had no understanding of why the leads just left? I wasn't entirely convinced with Tevin accepting his new life - since he's not killing anymore...right? And it felt weird in the later half when suddenly the FL ACCEPTS everything Tevin when she has distance from him for several weeks (or was it a couple months). I feel once Tevin left, that's where the book sort of went in a weird rush on things that didn't sit well with me.

However as a standalone and heat, it is not too bad.

There was potential there but I felt like it was squandered. She inherited all of this money, donates it to the school that she is leaving, and doesn't take any to pack lands for the kids there? I mean I work with kids. I'd leave money to my current group of kids but I'd also take it with me to my next group of kids. She was writing a book. It seemed like it was a great passion for her. We never learn what the book is about.

And the last chapter didn't make any sense at all except to be the lead in to the next book. Tevin talked about they could go to the house by the water for when they needed relaxing weekends or time away. And they also talked about how much calmer his wolf was now that they were mated and married and their child was born. So A. why was Ben watching Tevin to make sure he didn't loose control and B. why would they be concerned that he had left the compound and why would Tevin have given the finger to the security camera. Weren't they allowed to just come and go as they liked? Do they have to check in with Ben each time they left for an extended time? And if they did, WHY?

don’t buy the audio

I don’t Always buy the audios with books but with this one I decided why not. I truly wish that I did not. The narrator in his normal monotone voice was pretty passable for a dominate shifter that also belongs to a MC. When he tries to alter and to deepen his voice it turns the story. The voice changing completely took the proper meaning out of whatever passage that he was currently trying to read. I ended up turning the audio off in chapter 4 because I just could not do it anymore. The female audio again same thing normal monotone OK. Not so great when she try to change your voice to meet the emotions of the character and it went down hill.
As the story goes, for me it was bland. Same type of run around. Shifter meets mate under notorious reason, mate falls in love, notorious reason is found out causes issue in relationship, all is forgiven, happy ever after.

Tevin was sent on a mission by his pack alpha/leader, Ben, to kill Serene because of a greedy stepmother, Margaret Atwater, that Serene did not even know existed. Her bio father left her a fortune and Margaret wanted it all and she was a nasty b!tch. Tevin realizes that Serene is his mate as soon as he sees her. He calls Margaret and cancels the contract. She does not take it well and makes serious threats. Tevin knows she will send others to do the job so he wants to keep Serene safe. Serene knows nothing about his wolf side. His pack leader, Ben, was not happy about it and went to the town to try to force Tevin to return home. He acted like he did not want Tevin to claim his mate because she was human, but he also said how rare it is to find a mate. I did not care for Ben at all. This turned out to be a really good book with plenty of suspense and smexy times. The ending was a nice setup for the next book.

"Pure and innocent" trope for grown women

If I never hear a wyte female author use the childlike words in reference to a full grown adult wyte female character who acts like an oversexed wh%re again, it'll be too soon. The pedophlic implications of the "innocent sexiness" trope are gross and creepy. There's nothing wrong with being a grown adult woman. You've gone way past the "childlike innocence" or "virginal purity" phase of life at 30 years old, especially when you're not a virgin, haven't been for a long time, and you're constantly screwing a biker you barely know from a can of paint like the female MC in this book. The female MC constantly being described as "pure and innocent" although she was constantly hopping on the male MC's penis or thinking about hopping on his penis throughout the book.

Hiya... so I read both the books in this series and the best I can say is, they filled a gap, they were okay. The editing and such were fine, and as others have said in reviews... the covers were gorgeous and the blurb was promising.

I found the books a little lacklustre - things just didn't fire the way I needed them to with it, but I enjoyed them and as I said, they filled a gap and a few hours reading. Not high literature, but worth a few hours.

I liked that it kept me busy.

I didn’t like just about everything. It was predictable and it seemed to drag out the details unnecessarily. I felt like maybe Serenes backstory could have been more dark to justify her statements of feeling safe. She spent the book taking days off as a teacher and then just ups and makes a decision. A teacher of young children would have waited to move until the school year was over. Also, the title doesn’t fit. He is not the alpha and he is not really possessive. He is loyal and protective to the point of being whiny at times. The dynamics of the pack are unusual and frustrating. The actual alphas over the top reactions and lack of empathy are just stupid. 17+

An amazing first book in this new series Demon Hollowers Motorcycle Club. This book will keep you glued till the end. The story was well written, the characters are engaging and have a connection. Serene is a schoolteacher and Tevin a dangerous wolf shifter that was contracted to kill her. When Tevin took one look at Serene he know she was his mate and he would stop at nothing to protect her. Even if that meant going against the alpha of his pack. Their kind don't mate with humans, or do they? Looking forward to read the next book. This is a new author for me and I am looking forward to read more.

Protecting His Mate . . .

Tevin has a reputation for hunting and killing. He is assigned the task of killing a kindergarten teacher. He doesn’t ask questions, just prepares to carry out the gruesome task. But Serene turns out to be his mate! His protectiveness comes out full force to keep her safe. But his wolf is more vicious than his human half! He has to stay close to her. But that puts her in danger from more than the killers who will come after her. Can he control his wolf? Can he keep her safe?

Grab your action-packed, suspenseful copy and see how this story line can possibly find a way to end happily. The odds are against her. Will she survive?

make up your mind

Drug running gang banger motorcycle club or shifter romance. The two don’t really fit together, talk about being at odds with each other.

The H was a cold blooded killer sent to kill the h, oh but wait, she’s his mate, you would think his pack would then understand, nope, he should have left her behind to be killed by somebody else and was ordered to return to pack lands/MC headquarters.

But in the end there’s a school house with werewolf kids for the h school teacher to teach, so what, they were all in on killing or running drugs but hey we are a family?

An excellent story

This book really is a great book to read. From start to finish these authors have captured a readers attention. The storyline itself was for me a no brainer and i couldnt not take up the opportunity to read the story.
What started as just a contract ened up with Tevin finding his mate and yes he will do anything to protectvher including leaving his pack. As for Serene, a teacher one day then the next it seems she has been left alot of money. But when she meets Tevin sparks fly and chemistry between them is oh so hot.
Readers certainly wont be disappointed in this must read story!!!

I'm marking dnfs as read because if I struggle through even part of the book I read it but take this review as a dnf review and do with this what you will.

I'm well versed in shifter romances. I've read many a shifter romance. Most romances even if the pack is dysfunctional its still enjoyable. You won't get a found family feeling, you just feel unsatisfied in the romance.

The writing felt odd to me. Like this is a chore to read I don't want to read it. Couldn't give a flying whatsit whether they get together. Also its split into 3 books in one? Why? First book isn't an alpha. I think the second book is about the alpha. But still sooo weird.

Its a no from me.

Tevin and his wolf are almost feral. When he is sent to kill Serene he does not have a problem with it. When he see's Serene in the flesh he realise that she is his mate, now he dose have a problem with killing her. There is also the fact that others will be coming to kill her. Serene lives a quiet life as a school teacher the world of shifters and assassins is not her world. This is a great read and I look forward to reading more in this series.

I found the story unoriginal with a meh romance. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t like it enough to read more in the series. The most interesting part was the stepmother putting a contract out on the FMC. The ending was a bizarre cliff hanger. The couple packs up their kid, gives the security camera the finger and disappear. This is after the woman had started working as a teacher at the compound and I suppose the man did whatever he had been doing before they hooked up. Why did he “suddenly” become hostile to the pack leader? I guess I’ll never know but I can live with that.

Definitely not my cup of tea.

Murder for hire is not what I want when I decide on a romance novel. A little darkness is one thing but totally try to pass off a murdering gang of cutthroat bikers as somehow romantic is incredulous. When I want this type of story I would go to the mystery/drama novels. After all what woman could fall in love with the man who took a contact hit on her ? Could anyone ever trust him " Mate" or not ? Definitely NOT a ' romance' book despite the label.

Good read

A good shifter romantic story, Tevan a scary Wolf Shifter bad boy member of a Shifter MC pack and fairly unstable barely in control of his wolf does a lot of bad things for his club. Serene a kindergarten teacher quiet unassuming suddenly having a big secret revealed to her. He is sent to kill her discovers she is his mate and knows he can never harm her and has to protect her. They have quite a struggle to be together but love wins in the end. A good romantic story based on the shifter world.
