Being half bear/half wolf shifter, I’ve been shunned my entire life. Now I spend my time in exile, watching over the village below my castle grounds—until one day when a fair maiden stumbles onto my land. I want her the moment I lay eyes on her. Since everyone already believes I’m a monster, I grab her and bring her back to my castle. I know it’s wrong, but I crave Fiona in ways even I don’t understand. Both my inner beasts rage at me to claim her as my mate. I can bear the scorn and hatred of others, but there is one thing I can’t endure: knowing she can’t possibly return my affections. Before I lose all control and become the monster people accuse me of being, I set Fiona free.
Fiona
I never imagined forming an attachment, let alone romantic feelings for the beast of a man who has been holding me captive. Broderick has been ostracized his entire life and I can’t help but be drawn to the wounds he hides inside. Who am I to think I can offer him any solace? Yet, in my presence, he does seem more settled, more at ease. If I’m honest with myself, the inner restlessness I’ve struggled with my entire life also calms. Together we soothe each other. But then he lets me go and I’m left to wonder if we’re meant to be after all.

I was super psyched when I heard Emma bray has another name she writes PNR romance under: this author. And just like her other books, she can write a super awesome SHORT romance with all the feelz, emotions, connection, and steam packed in. I don’t know how she does it, but she does it
This is magical retelling of beauty and the beast. It was sweet and steamy and safe.
Hero’s past, if he even has one, isn’t mentioned at all. I’m kinda hoping he was a virgin. Virgin heroine, gives the hero the gift of claiming all her firsts. No others (h is being pursued by an older odious suitor but she has no interest in him. I don’t consider his brief moments in the story to be OM-worthy.) no cheating or abuse of any kind. HEA with epilogue
I love Emma Bray, so when I found out she writes under a different pen name for her PNR romance, I had to check them out! I’m in love! Just as good as her other books!
Meh, I'll give this a bored 3-stars. I know it's a novella. I wasn't expecting much, but the synopsis gives you the entire plot. So, there wasn't anything to anticipate. The writing is fine, but there is nothing new or exciting here. It also needs a bit more editing, especially in the sex scenes and especially with the use of the word hip/hips. It alone is misspelled twice (unless he really is thrusting his hits).
Quick read. It’s a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, but without enchantments and the fun side characters. It’s mostly angst and a bit cheese at times, but still entertaining.
Superfast easy-to-read Beauty and the Beast (naughty version) story. No twists, no surprises, no amazing dialogues, just a kinda pleasant way to spend an hour.
In this Beauty and the Beast retelling we have Fiona who is out picking berries when she accidentally travels into the Broderick's private property. He's known as The Beast of Boding because he's a shifter who when he gets upset, changes into his beast. When Fiona stands there and talks to him instead of fleeing in fear because of who he is, Broderick decides to take her back to his castle and keep her. He knows what he's doing is wrong but the pull to her is too much for him to stop himself.
Fiona is worried about her father so Broderick agrees to send a letter to him to let him know she's fine. While Broderick might have kidnapped her, he's a complete gentleman towards her until she tries to escape and then he makes her sleep in his bed where he can keep an eye on her but he's still a gentleman.
I loved Broderick. He was a beast but he's also such a great hero and once Fiona agrees to stop trying to escape, they come to an understanding. Watching them get to know one another better and fall for each other was so much fun. Broderick is such a nice guy and even though Fiona had rejected all the men who came calling while she was at home, she finds herself falling for Broderick.
When Broderick comes to his senses and realizes he can't keep her captive anymore, he lets her go but the pull between them cannot keep them apart for long. I loved everything about this story. Fiona was so sweet with him and even though she wasn't sure about her feelings at first, his tenderness and caring made her see him for the great guy he was.
Fiona’s father loves her very much and so is trying to marry her off to rich men. Most of them are older than her father and not at all pleasant for her liking. She feels no sway toward any of them. But because she is so beautiful lots of men are willing to wed her. After escaping into the woods when another unsuitable suitor is in her home, she finds herself facing the Beast of Boding! He is scary and grumpy, gruff and fearsome. Initially Fiona fears for her life. Lovely fairy tale based on Beauty And The Beast with moral dilemma.
Wish it had been longer and more detailed. I didn’t have a clear idea of what Broderick actually looked like in beast form- is he on all fours? Is he still standing up? Do his clothes transform with him or does he shred them?
Also, friendly reminder that often a hymen is “broken” before having sex eg through exercise, and I dislike reading about “breaking the hymen” because it perpetuates untrue and damaging myths around sex.
Thought I could beef my reading challenge stats with a short book and just overlook all the smut but 1. That was literally impossible bc everything had to do with sex and 2. So badly written. It's basically the Disney Beauty and the Beast movie, condensed to like 100 pages, with the LEAST likeable 2D characters, and no thought behind it
This was a cute little quick read. It definitely had its moments that had me kicking my feet! The only feedback I would give is I wish the author put more details in. Create the world, expand on the characters and chemistry. The story felt a little rushed toward the end. However, if you’re looking for a quick read with a few swoon worthy moments, this is for you!
It was pretty good. A fast little story. My only complaint was the smût scene was not written all that great. I had to skip it because of the way she worded it. The way he feels with her blossoming around him. Or talking about his engorged flesh, just didn’t do it for me. But it was really only one scene and easy to skip.
This is a story that needs an editor and seems to be a contest for fitting the most alternate ways of referring to a certain male appendage. I did finish the story but there's was no realcharacter development and iwasnt invested in the characters at all
Took me a while to get used to the story and I did lose myself at times, but I got there in the end. Of course a retelling of the classic fairytale, but I enjoyed it overall. Not used to reading Steamy Romance books though, but it's interesting how they're written though I wouldn't try it myself.
Beautiful love story. I love this spin on the classic tale. The story is similar, but the ending is very different. I'm glad they found each other, had a child, and lived happily ever after. They both deserved to be happy.
I couldn't put this down. It's a steamy retelling of beauty and the beast where beast is a shifter and beauty is a girl who really doesn't want to get sold off to the highest betting suitor. There was sex, there was slight violence, and there was a happy ending. Such a great retelling!
Cute interpretation on the Beauty and Beast genre nothing entirely special about the read. There was not character development or plot twist you knew exactly what this was by the synopsis of the book. Vanilla for my usual tastes.
This was a total surprise. When I bought it i halfway expected it to be a Beauty And The Beast steal with steam. It was really cute and endearing and was a joy right to the end. The steam was a total plus and I’d read more from this Author any day.
I enjoyed this one very much. Too short but just as good. I loved the characters and storyline so much. Fiona and Broderick were perfect for each other. On to my next book. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊
Absolutely a thrilling book. Could not put it down . Wished it was longer. Will look forward to reading more from this author. The chemistry was off the charts. Highly recommend all to read this sweet story
4.5 Stars Nice rendition of Beauty and the Beast, using the shifter trope. Lonely Broderick stumbles upon is fated mate, in the woods. Kidnapped Fiona falls in love with her shifter, not knowing he is her true love. Lovely endiing and epilogue. Enjoyable short read.
