MODI@20: Dreams Meet Delivery

Rate this book
The rise of Narendra Modi is a watershed moment in Indian politics. In fact, such is the magnitude of his influence on the country that India’s governance paradigm and political history can be easily divided into two distinct eras—pre-Modi and post-Modi.

Modi became the chief minister of the Indian state of Gujarat in 2001. He was undefeated in all subsequent elections and became the state’s longest serving chief minister. While Modi strode Gujarat like a colossus, propelling multi-dimensional progress, bigger responsibilities beckoned. Modi’s exemplary success in Gujarat, paved the way for him to be popularly elected India’s prime minister in an overwhelming victory in 2014. He is a prime minister unlike anyone earlier, both in terms of appeal and body of work. As a result, in 2019, he was re-elected with an even bigger mandate.

His appeal is the result of his work in many domains over a long social, political and administrative career. Modi’s impact is not restricted to India alone, and numerous national and international polls regularly declare that he is the most popular international leader.

In 2021, Modi completed twenty continuous years as the head of a government. This book, a compilation of chapters authored by eminent intellectuals and domain experts, attempts a definitive and expansive exploration into the fundamental transformation of Gujarat and India over the last twenty years due to Modi’s unique model of governance.

Sudha Murty's anecdotal real life account says it all. Symbolic of transformational India. Unlike the usual adage under the banyan nothing grows Modi is the banyan tree under which everything grows.
The real life account dramatically narrated in cinematic style is a tribute to the leadership and the winds of change sweeping the country across all walks of life.
Hope the compendium is translated into all Indian
languages to reach a wider audience. Like Oliver Goldsmith said in The Village Preacher " Fools who came to scoff remained to pray"

A well compiled anthology that gives a peek into the work ethic and principles of the Greatest world leader of his times . I believe, the evolving and ongoing nature of the topic has limited the authors to delve into limited areas. After reading this , I strongly feel, we should have a good author penning Modi's biography. If somebody wants to hear those lores on our beloved PM , I would suggest Modi story portal and our famous boxer Rajdeep Sardesai's books on 2014 and 2019 elections. Very inspiring and inspirational.

I went into reading this book to know what goes on in the mind of India's most popular prime minister.

We are introduced about his work, only the positive side of course, but very little on how his mind works. I think that is the failure of this book. But it shouldn't discourage anyone from reading this book which is filled with inspiration.

The success of the book lies in the stories of positive achievements of his tenures in public office and optimism that comes with it.

This is going to be a very haphazard review because I am feeling so lost after reading this page upon page of bullshit.
Dear God. Basically according to this book, Modi is God.
A few days ago WHO estimated that almost 47 lakh
(4.7 million) people died in India during the pandemic as apposed to the govt. figures of around
5 lakh (0.5 million) deaths. But if you have no knowledge of this fact, this book will make it seem as if Modi himself was fighting alongside the doctors. The price of petrol, diesel and cooking oil is rising with crazy speed. LPG cylinders have crossed the 1000 rupee mark, unemployment is rampant, you have riots when people should be celebrating, the country is getting more divided day by day.
It baffles me how these people can still praise this man so much. According to this book, Modi is the best thing to ever happen to India.
I knew what I was getting into, when I saw who the authors were, and Ajit Anjum's review of the book. As he rightly said, the only person missing from the writer list is Kangana Ranaut.
Now I guess I'll wait for andhbhakts replies in the comment section.

Remarkable book on one of the most popular leader of 21st Century. This book is all about the law he amended, reforms he introduced and his work ethics told by great personalities of India. So if you like any of those you will like this book. I personally love studying about politics and policies and this made me explore this book.

Good book to understand Mr. Modi as a person and an administrator. Lots of repetitive narratives in many articles. I feel some more people from diverse fields should have contributed to the book. Overall, it is clear that our beloved PM, Mr Modiji, is a 'man with a mission' to make India a world power and to make every citizen feel proud to be Indian.
In a federal system like ours, I feel, you need a Modi in every state. A man with great vision, sharp, sincere, hardworking and a man who never hesitated to take risks. Proud to have Mr. Modi at the helm of our country.

Remarkably written by the renowned writers in there respective fields. The pre modi era and post Modi era can be clearly be distinguished. Overall well written with acute data and figures. Must read at least once atleast by Indians.

Simply put the book fails to deliver on its promise. There are some very insightful details from an array of noted personalities ( which at times feels somewhat forced, bcz no matter the beginning the end is quite stale and predictable).
It could have been an interesting read, instead falling off the slippery cliff of sycophancy and unnecessary verbose only made the matters worse .

Had kept this book in my reading list since long time. Great book which chronicles the thoughts and work done by PM modi by eminent personalities from all walks of the life. Liked the perspective shared by Nirpendera Mishra, Nandan Nilekani and Sudha Murthy.

Some great writeups by stalwarts of industry and politics but most of it is data-heavy and paints a rosy picture about what Modi and his government. The sycophancy jumps at you out of the pages. Still, it is an informative read and good to know about the government dispensation.
