Look at her now, eight years later.
She’s a curvy goddess.

This novella is the second one I've read from C.H. James, and I enjoy reading these short books. This one follows Rosie and Andrew, best friends in high school but due to a misunderstanding never actually dated. After eight years Rosie comes back to her home town and the fireworks between her and Andrew are still the same...

The characters are a bit one-dimensional but what can you do in a short story? Rosie has some issues from her past to deal with, which are beautifully handled by the author. However, I wished to see a little bit more from Andrews background. Now he was just the strong, swoon-worthy handsome man who shows his soft side (and trust me - nothing wrong with that! I just wanted a little bit more of him).

Rosie and Andrew . . .

Rosie Walker stepped out into the snow. She had returned to her hometown after 8 years. Her father’s unexpected death by heart attack unsettled her, and she left town as soon as she finished high school. She kept moving, but nothing ever felt like home. Her dad had been everything to her. Her thoughts drifted to her first love, Andrew Johnstone, who dumped her to take Mia Hughes to the final school dance. That was when she started hating herself, her appearance, and let her friendships suffer as she lost trust in people. Her dad dying was the last pain she could endure. Now she is back and renting a room above Andrew’s bar, but she is not ready to face him yet and keeps running away from him. She needs to move. So she calls local real estate agent and old friend Skylar Duncan.

Andrew Johnstone couldn’t keep his eyes off the woman he adored in high school. But the night before the dance, he saw her with Brodie Grey at the rugby field and he had his arms wrapped around her. He was beyond hurt at seeing that. He had begged her previously to be his date at the dance, but she was afraid of ruining their friendship. If she had gone with him, he was planning to ask her to be his girlfriend and would have had their first kiss with her. So when Mia asked him to go with her to the dance, he agreed.

Andrew and Rosie would have been the perfect couple. Everyone already thought they were. But the lack of communication caused them to lose 8 years together and still threatens their future. Talking honestly to each other would have opened their hearts to a strong loving relationship and would have avoided the misunderstanding that tore them apart for so many years. Is it too late now? Will they learn to talk to each other and trust their feelings? Or is a HEA no longer possible?

I LOVED this book!! Andrew and Rosie just BELONG together. After being away from her hometown for 8 years, Rosie returns. She and Andrew were inseparable during high school. Both harbored feelings for each other but neither acted on them.
A HUGE misunderstanding separates them. Shortly thereafter, Rosie leaves town. The whole time that she is gone, both stew over their last meeting.
Once Rosie returns, her friend, Skylar, plays matchmaker. I do not want to give too much away, but it is definitely worth the read!
This author is quickly becoming a one-click author for me! If you have not yet read any of her books, you should give her a try!.

C.H. James does it again with another short story that always gives me the warm fuzzy I crave.
In High School Rosie has a life altering loss happen to her Family. This loss was devastating and cost her not just a family member but the love of her life too.
Years later Rosie returns to her hometown and faces her past. This includes her lifelong love Andrew. Now a hunky, successful Rugby player.
I couldn’t put this story down. I wanted to read more about Rosie and Andrews love.
Find out what happens when Rosie returns to Forth Valley and faces the people from her past. Can she reconcile and make peace with her losses? I won’t spoil it for you!.

I an ok short romance story with all of the characters. The main characters were Rosie Walker and Andrew Johnstone.

Rosie Walker has returned to the place she grew up. When she see her high school crush on the very first night she is quite surprised. She has been think of him for so long. But she can't forget what he done to her before she left.

Andrew Johnstone owns a bar and inn. When a guest show up to rent a room he never except it would be his best friend from high school. Before she left they had a fight.

This was an ok short story to read. It had action and drama throughout. It was a little bit sad at times. There was not to much things that had me laughing with.

I received a complimentary copy via Booksprout. This is my honest unbiased opinions.

Good

Safety and Spoilers
Safe. Back in high school both loved each other but never said anything. On the night H was going to confess his feelings he sees h hugging another guy. He jumps to conclusions and accepts a date from another girl to the last dance before graduation. h just found out her dad was dying and was being comforted by a classmate. She is devastated to learn H is taking someone else to the dance. Her dad dies shortly after graduation and she leaves her small town behind, even missing her dad’s funeral. 8 years later she’s back home, looking to put down roots and give her dad a proper goodbye.
Nothing is mentioned about either of their pasts but it didn’t seem like they were virgins.

I loved reading this romance story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorite yet. I never hesitate to pick up this authors books. I know that they are well written and she certainly brings the steam. I enjoy how the characters pull me into the story from the start. I found them to be connectable and they had me coming back for more. They bring the story to life as well as have great chemisty throughout the story. I enjoyed their growth as well as how supportive they are to each other. This is a great story that heated up my afternoon. It is an engaging story that is fun, easy and entertaining to read. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Rosie and Andrew were best friends in high school but when it came time for the final dance senior year, he saw her hugging another guy and she saw him attend with another girl. Eight years later, with the help of a friend, they are able to start talking about what went wrong. Loved the characters, their backstories, banter and entertaining situations. Everything seems to be falling into place. Plenty of drama, secrets, surprises and twists to keep the pages turning and the smiles coming. Great ending.

There is something about Rosie and Andrew that just made sense.

The sense of awkwardness that going from friends to almost more and then to nothing and back is so believable and heartwarming to see. That he’s there for her even when she didn’t want him (or thought she didn’t). Especially in light of the misunderstandings that seem to keep happening.

I enjoyed watching these two dance around each other before coming together in a fiery explosion.

Andrew and Rosie were thick as thieves throughout high school. Everyone thought they were together and they just let people believe what they wanted. Rosie left 8 years ago because she couldn't handle the heartbreak and the pain. Finally after all that time it was time for her to come home. Andrew has also been dealing with heartbreak for 8 years. Two mistakes that could have been avoided if they just communicated with eachother. Now, it's time to move past the hurt and the pain.

Can a misunderstanding be fixed even if it is years later? What a sweet story! Andrew and Rosie were so close throughout school, but went their own way after Rosie's Dad died. Andrew wanted more, you will have to read the book to see why he didn’t and how they finally got together. My heart broke with the sweet things he did for Rosie, specifically being there for her when needed. This book was a quick read sweet second chance romance, I highly recommend you read it. A second chance novella of first loves finally admitting their feelings and misunderstandings from long ago. I liked how each hid from the truth, but owned up to each of their mistakes. A sweet turn around with no time to waste, turns this once friendship into something much more.

The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Andew and Rosie and does not let go. They were, once, best friends but circumstances caused her to leave town with no explanation. When she returns, will Rosie and Andrew be able to put the past behind them?

C.H. James did amazing once again! I loved the story. I always wish there was more. It was very well written and I love the way everything unfolded. The characters were well developed as well. There was a little less spice than normal for her books, but I loved it just the same.

I loved this story. I loved their history, I loved how they secretly still wanted each other but didn’t know and avoided it until they couldn’t anymore. It was just such a great friends to lovers story. Definitely a great start to a new series!
