From the title, you might think that Stacey Webb’s The Intuitive Detective is a 1950’s Hollywood B-movie. On the contrary, though, it’s a captivating memoir by successful police detective, Stacey Webb, that catalogues her life and times when she was guided by her intuition — whether she chose to listen to it or not.
The reliance on instinct by professional investigators has become legendary among fictional characters, from Sherlock Holmes tracking down murders to the alien-chasers Mulder and Scully. Webb unashamedly credits her intuition with leading her to answers she might otherwise have discounted. Something is certainly working for her, considering she has developed a successful career and has been promoted to the level of detective in spite of being a woman and raising her children at the same time.
The Intuitive Detective isn’t all about Webb’s police work, either. A kind of sixth sense guides her in her personal life, too. For example, she recounts a time when she was involved in a serious car accident. Thanks to the guidance of her inner voice, before crashing she manages to take some precautions that ensure she is easily found and even walks away from the battered car uninjured. Subsequently people told her that her dead father somehow protected her from harm on that occasion — a comforting belief that’s common when people survive difficult circumstances when it looks like they shouldn’t. But Webb doesn’t subscribe to that, saying, “Several people said my dad was looking out for me that day. But what I believe was that I was listening to my intuition.”
The Intuitive Detective is an engrossing memoir that Webb has conveniently structured to make it easy to dip in and out. This is an inspiring and intimate look into a fascinating person’s life that will appeal to readers who like their true crime with a spiritual twist.

I had the pleasure of reading The Intuitive Detective by Stacey Webb. It's a highly digestible read with short chapters. With that being said, it is not lacking for wisdom packed into those short chapters. In fact, the chapter lengths lend to reflection after reading. When have you listened to your intuition? When have you ignored it? What were the differences in those experiences?
This memoir is divided into four parts: Following the Breadcrumbs, Leading Towards my Purpose, Seeds are Planted, and Waking Up to my Power. These parts follow Webb's trajectory from school courses to college coursework to her various positions as a police officer and detective and how she learns about her intuition by both listening to it and ignoring it.
The Intuitive Detective is also a story of Webb's family: growing up, how she met her husband, their children, and their lives together. These stories are artfully interwoven with her experiences on the police force and often demonstrate a different side of being human and listening to what speaks to us and through us.
There are a few areas that could use a little more context and description to smooth out the transitions Webb describes as she writes about her experiences. However, you can tell Webb writes about what she loves with a dedication you don't frequently find. She has helped many people throughout her lifetime by listening to what they needed to say, both in and outside of her career.

This is my first memoir read. I went into this blind only knowing the title.
Let me just say, this book isn't what I expected and I loved it!!
This book is fast paced but doesn't feel like anything missing or it needs to be fluffed out.
I instantly fell inlove with Stacey's writing style. She has a way to make it feel like you are two friend sitting down talking. I was so captivated! I read the whole book in one sitting, didn't put it down at all.
The stories in this were joyous, sad, gut wrenching and wholesome. I felt apart of everything.
Her intuition is all written through this book and is almost unbelievable to read about, she leaves you at the end of this feeling so much and with a lot of thinking. There are chapters involving her journey on self-love and its what I needed right now.
I cannot wait to read what else Stacey puts into this world.

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Stacey, gosh maybe 12-14 years ago (that makes me feel old) when her now husband was staying in England and she came over to visit. At the time I had no idea what an amazing person she is! This book was hard to put down and I read it in a couple of hours. The stories about things that happened in the police force were truly gripping and I loved reading about her 4 beautiful babies. Stacey, if you ever read this, I know we’re not close but I am so proud of you for writing this book and I am in awe of how strong you are in tough situations! My life is far from easy and I will definitely look into EFT to try and help me. You’re an inspiration Stacey Webb xx

I enjoyed the layout of the book and the short chapters. It is an easy read when you only have a few minutes but still want to read something. A few chapters rely on reading the previous but are still stand-alone chapters giving natural breaks to the reader.
At the end of each chapter, Stacey puts her final thought about how that story related back to her intuition. Reiterating the connecting thread that links the purpose of the book.
I would have liked to flesh out a few stories more thoroughly. It felt like there was something missing, or it wasn’t clear which intuition was being utilized.

It’s a heart-felt memoir that details the occurrences throughout Stacey Webb’s, the author, life where she listened to or didn’t listen to her intuition. She explains the consequences and impact of those scenarios in her life, and does so in a way that made me question the same in mine—when have I listened to or not listened to my intuition. It made me consider how to be better at listening to my inner guidance. The scenarios she presents are extremely engaging because Stacey’s had an eventful life. She’s a mother of four children and she’s worked in the coroner’s office, as a police officer, and a detective.

This is a great memior by Stacey Webb. The book was wonderfully written with very short chapters. Throughout the book she has little quotes like
"The amazing thing is that we all have the courage within us. Courage can be found in even the smallest of choices we make in our day to day life and doing then despite being afraid. "
The book starts off as a young girl loosing her family members... I'm very sorry for your loss. Continuing on to Meeting her husband and becoming a Police Detective.
The story of Angel..broke my heart.

I enjoyed reading The Intuitive Detective. It was so honest and has a great message. Stacey knew she had something guiding her journey and she had to follow the breadcrumbs. When she didn't, things took a lot longer and she had to do things that she wasn't enjoying. She shared her personal life and her professional life and how they played out for her.
She had her own tragedy and sadness to deal with which see shares. She also had the people pleaser streak for a long time. Finally she now helps others through stress and grief and has a tool bag of therapies to use with herself and others. It was a compelling read with a strong message. Highly recommended.

I read this book in around 2-3 hours. I picked it up and could not put it down. To be so in tune with your intuition is truly inspiring and knowing when to listen to it and when not too. This book was truly amazing and such an easy read. I only expected to read a couple of chapters before bed but finished it in one sitting. My heart ached but was so full at so many different parts of the book. I think whoever reads this book will take something away from it, doesn’t matter who you are. I would recommend this to everyone.

Stacey’s book is an incredible story of her strength, intuition, courage and humanity. She also provides the reader with a powerful message of empowerment to use their own intuition and trust the process. I wanted to laugh, cry and ugly cry throughout this book. So many moments hit me reallllly had and made me look at myself and my own trauma journey. This is a must for everyone. Your journey is unique but Stacey is there to help you along with her own experience and expertise. Have a box of tissues and an open heart ready to go.

I could not put this book down once I commenced reading.
Starting with Staceys honesty about her feelings and trusting her intuition which would help her in her police work and in life.
The stories Stacey told of how she used her intuition at work were shocking and amazing at the same time. From a young age Stacey learned about death and her in-depth thoughts about it.
I came away with appreciation of her as a person and a desire to use my intuition much more.

I read this book during having Covid and I found it hard to put it down despite how I felt. Stacey got me hooked and kept me wanting to know more. She made me relate to my own personal experiences and inspired me to start writing them down, with a dream of one day maybe writing my own book. I think we could all learn from Stacey's intuition and follow our own more. Great read from a brave and strong author.

This book is easy to read with short chapters, I feel Stacey has really opened up with her own personal stories to help those around her who may have never had the courage to ask, explore or seek help in a way that after reading this allows you to feel and seek a sense of strength within yourself to persue your own spiritual and healing journey.

Stacey has done an amazing job writing this book. I love how short the chapters are. This book is a very quick read as well! I love how Stacey is always able to use her intuition to determine when something bad is going to happen! It’s also amazing how Stacey has worked as a detective and a police officer! I have loved reading all of her short stories and her knowing that something is about to happen! Thank you Stacey for the amazing read!

I enjoyed Stacey’s book. Her courage and strength are displayed on every page. I love how she follows her intuition even when it’s uncomfortable but she had to learn to trust that still small, but oftentimes unrelenting, voice within her. This book starts with a huge impact and keeps it up to a profoundly moving and emotive experience as it draws to the end. The writing is compelling and well-crafted, and this book deserves to become a movie. It is a story that kids in school should read and maybe, just maybe, standard reading for those who serve in law enforcement and the military.

Absolutely riveting. I could not put this book down. Such a unique read. I was so engrossed with the intuitive journey and the events that transpired. I found the authors authenticity both calming and inspiring. I loved it.

The composition and context were both engaging and exciting. It was written from the heart, and so relatable in when we should listen to our quiet self who sometimes shouts.

I really enjoyed this book. It was inspiring and empowering and I appreciated both the insight and the perspective from which this author shared her story. There were a few things that felt a little confusing to me as she is from Australia and I am unfamiliar with some of the acronyms used, but reading her experiences on the police force, as well as outside of it, felt like I was listening to a friend speaking and I liked that connection. Thank you Stacey for sharing your story!
