An ok book

Unemployed the book but so many characters, switching from first names to surnames, even nicknames, t got very confusing, then suddenly all over in a letter of confession. Not as good as the other two books.

Div has started a new chapter after her husband died.

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and learning these new characters.
Div has returned to her old home town after her husband died. Her boss isn't to happy about her appointment as he had a member of his own team in mind.
Siv, knuckles down to gain her new colleagues respect, leading them through a number of baffling cases.
Her Mother, who disappeared when she and her sister were children, turns up unexpectedly and proceeds to work her way into Siv's life, despite having no encouragement from her daughter.
This strange assortment leads into well rounded characters, who you can see as you read, as they have been well described, but not in a repetitive way. (A pet hate of mine, to have a synopsis of the cast repeated at the beginning of each story).
Well written and well thought out, making you engage to work out the culprits.
I look forward to reading more.

This is an excellent series of British Detective and Crime series.

XIV Drummond overcomes a childhood with a dysfunctional single parent and semiskilled in her police career to become a well respected DCI in a small urban British Police force. She Carrie’s the burden of loneliness from the passing of her beloved husband.

A fine set of mysteries, full of red herrings and side trails. After many twists and turns, the final twist in each is a surprise, and yet totally believable because so many hints have been planted amongst the the false or misleading ones. I failed to figure out whodunnit, but enjoyed the trip. The main characters' interesting interactions in their private lives add depth to the experience.

Close to home

Good series! I really Empathize with the main character having Lost my wife In recent years. So in some ways it was a little bitter sweet Having experienced a lot of the loss. But that withstanding it is not the main reason why I like the series it's all well written good characters And sometimes kept me guessing.

The first two books in this set were excellent. However the third suddenly lost momentum and I felt I'd missed a chunk of something happening along the way.

It's certainly not put me off the Detective Inspector Drummond books and I'm off to get my next instalment.

Cleverly written and leave you wanting more.

Excellent trilogy

This trilogy is extremely well-written and has an intriguing central character in D.I. Siv Drummond. All the other characters are well drawn , in particular SUV’s mother who is authentically awful.

This was a three book package. Each book spent time in developing the characters. Good interaction between personal life and police life.
The Plot of each book kept your interest right to the end.

I read Book 4, which I enjoyed, before reading 1-3. I do like Gretta writing. It's easy to dislike her mother and DCI but she is a pretty smart woman as well as a detective and is well supported by her team. I suspect these 4 books are the full series with no new ones on the horizon which is a shame.
