Andre runs into trouble, riding with Rachel, while he’s on leave. By the time he’s back on duty, Rachel has decided to join up with BSR. Her first job is a doozy, though. She has to keep the twins out of trouble. Slavers show up again, with hopes of getting the company out of the way. After the fleet explains the error in their ways, they head out to check on a new planet. A stowaway causes trouble for Topper, but it turns out for the best.
I’m a house husband. I keep things together while my wonderful wife makes our living. I’ve worked as a machinist, short order cook, electronics assembly tech, and several other jobs. My hobbies include vehicle maintenance, (I’ve had the transmission out of my truck. Twice) free flight airplanes, electronics, and shooting. I was born and raised in the Ozarks, and now live in Mid-Missouri.
I’m surprised how quickly the author can produce these books, it’s now 25 of them in less than three years. I suppose it helps that they can be quite repetitive and often not a great deal happens for big chunks of the story, but it is still a remarkable achievement. Even though the banter and homespun philosophy, can get a bit monotonous I still enjoyed this book and there was even a short burst of action.
Before I begin the second reading of Hand Jive, I would like to thank Jerry Boyd for sharing his very fertile imagination with us. I look forward to finding each new book and buying it. If you haven't begun the series with Bob's Saucer Repair, you should get it and follow the progression in order. You will not be disappointed. I'm beginning to wonder what Gus and Becky have in store for us. They really are precocious and will lead us on an interesting journey.
More fun filled entertainment from Jerry Boyd. These really are fun books. In this one Bob and Nikki and company are navigating all kinds of interesting things, facing off with slavers, exploring a new planet and figuring out how to parent some particularly precocious kids. These books have a fair amount of action laced with a good bit of humor. I'm having a blast following the journey of Bob and Nikki and their crew. I think you will too.
These books are a special treat, almost a bit like a holiday when a new one comes out. In this one, a lot of new threads were introduced, hinting at a lot of new adventures to come. BSR seems destined to take on the Commonwealth, more Slavers, and who knows what technology is bubbling in the fertile fields of Mr. Boyd’s mind?
This whole series is an amazing achievement, though maybe not on the same level as Papa Hemingway. Who wants to have that annoying forest to deal with anyway? These books often make me laugh out loud - and that is no small feat!
But ‘em, read ‘em - make your day just a little bit better!
This is an enjoyable series, action, adventure, wth a well paced story line. I enjoy Bob's interactions with the crew and bots. The witty repartee, pop culture references are a hoot. If you haven't read this series, do yourself a favor and read it. You will not regret it.
What's with everyone calling everyone else "turkeys"? Did this always happen? Did I just catch on in book #25? Its odd.
I do like all the character evolution. How old are Gus and his sister? I know they are freakishly intelligent, but are they 2, or 4? Or older? I don't think they could be any older than that?
They should really either introduce a worthy opponent, which hasn't happened in 25 books, or better yet, find a planet and settle it. I'd love to see how that would be accomplished.
This volume is about human/bot relationships, I think. Expectations, planning for possibilities, thinking somebody else took care of that detail, or forgetting about it completely. Sometimes getting comfortable means things are left unspoken, until a catalyst shakes things up.
Remember the concert in Sioux City? Something was forgotten. Later, there was an emergency and someone noticed the hero. The tumbling space ship? A mystery and a birth. The new planet? Things were purposely ignored.
The members of Bob's Saucer Repair, plus new and old friends, have adventures to share! And a new low of swearing in this book! (Thanks, Jerry, you're nearly swear-free!)
I'm not afraid of much in this world, having been a fighter pilot and a bush pilot and a SAR pilot and an undercover narcotics officer and a SWAT commander and other adrenaline -junkie pursuits that run rampant through my half century plus of life... In fact, the only thing I can think of that truly causes me fear, is the thought of Jerry ceasing to write about Bob and Nikki and the crew, out sailing the black, having adventures. I just wish Elon would hurry up and make this concept a reality, before I get too damned old. I could use one of those Docks already, come to think of it.
Keep em coming, Jerry. A lot of us are counting on you.
So far, this is my favorite in the series. Of course I thought that about each book in the series as I have been reading! Wish I had had a book series to read with a person like Bob in it as a kid!!! Of course you didn't hear , 'on the spectrum " back then. I was lucky enough to have several family members whose minds worked the same way. Even had a few of them as teachers in school so that was a big help. Bod and Nicki are a perfect fit for each other. The new folks in this are a fun change. Can't wait to see how they get along with BSR!!!
What can one say other than the saga continues, with our heroes spending an equal amount of time enjoying themselves, getting into trouble on Earth, and adventuring in the big black of space. So this is very much a book of two halves, both of which are enjoyable for fans of the series. To get to volume 25 and not be a fan is a little strange. Clearly, this is not the place to start reading.
We long-term fans have all the usual things we expect from the series. The relationships, the down-home wisdom, good old boys in outer space, sassy robots, bad guys with bounties. All we've come to expect. there's not really much more to say.
While I will be one of the first to acknowledge that not every book can be exciting this one seemed to be a huge collection on words about basically nothing. I am more than a little concerned by BSR's involvement in Earth's firefighting problems where do they draw the line? It was almost as if you had nothing to say but took s long time to do it. Not one of my favorite books!
This series is so much fun to read that i hope the author never stops writing more. The only negative thing I have to say about this series is having to wait for the next book. It is a simple, fun, entertaining storyline with lots of interesting characters that it keeps me reading “just one more chapter “ until I’ve reached the end of the book.
I continue to find the characters and storyline worth the time spent reading. The mostly positive vibes from these books are a welcome respite in a universe of mediocre sci-fi stories. This installment introduces a new species, and sets the reader up for the next book in the series.
I love it when BSR Co. gets to find new adventures, cultures, or people to make their journeys more fun.
It’s certainly true for Hand Jive, but I think it’s the developing situation on Earth that’s got me wondering where the company’s going to go from here.
Mr Boyd writes excellent stories I just finished reading all of his books again one after another and they’re just as good the second time around. These books are fun and interesting just great entertaining books. You can’t go wrong with these books ENJOY!
While rescuing a rolling saucer, ?Bob and Nikki find the whereabouts of a pirate/slaves base. When they get there they find human slaves. The Marines capture the base and then destroys it. After that the fleet goes to a planet that Sally found adverts a new species.
Another amazing book. Nice to get to know Gus and Becky a little better. Great adventures. Would be nice to have maybe drawings of the new species, so we can visualize them better. All I could think of was ewoks.
Totally enjoyed this one. With this plot line the book could have been longer, but gotta have some for the next one which I'll be waiting for. Keep up the good work and thanks for an excellent read.
I am already excited to read the next one. This book was a lot of fun to read and I enjoy all the excitement the crew gets into. I am curious to see what the twins will build and get into in the next book. Will re-read this one again for sure.
It's taken me slightly more than a month to read, enjoy, laugh, cry and look for my next Bob and Nikki book. Now I'm done, what's next. Your books are a fun read. Thank You.
I love this series of books! It is well written and full of off the wall puns and humor. Mr Boyd has managed to keep my attention for25 books, and I look forward to the next one!
Dang it I need more Bob and Nikki! Keep up the Great stories. I wish you could write them quicker, but us poor people that are addicted to your stories are going to have patience. BLAH
I found Hand Jive to be a good story but it stopped just as it was getting good. Look forward to the next book. Hopefully it will be longer as it takes me a fair bet to get into the grove. Keep the stories coming.
**Spoilers ** I liked the storyline but I would have liked to hear more about the slavers & the girls recovery. How did they get kidnapped with the fleet there? Was it before? Etc. Etc. It also stopped just as they made first contact.
This series is one the best I have every read. It is family friendly, and it shows how we should get along with others that are different than us. Plus it is funny and exciting at the same time.
He keeps finding great adventures to add to the growing story. I have loved this series from the start. It is just a really fun read that keeps you wondering what trouble Bob will get himself into next time.
This was a very relaxed "part 1" style story this time. Felt a bit odd to cut off where it did, but I guess we know where book 26 picks up. Start at the very beginning if you want a chance in heck of figuring out what is going on. You won't regret it.
Bob and crew meet challenges that others see as problems. With Bob's simple look at others problems, answers appear. Enjoy another of the Bob's Saucer Repairs.
Here's another really good book in the series. I'm really enjoying this series it's a lot of fun. The main characters are always cracking jokes. There's always some action going on somewhere.
