He’s the most fearsome King in the land. And now she’s his Queen…
Reyna married the ruthless Wolf King for the sake of her father’s kingdom, but she still refuses to give him her heart. Despite this, she can’t resist the opportunity to travel with Elias when he requests that she accompany him to the kingdom of dragons on royal business.
Unfortunately, Reyna realizes too late that the journey feels too much like a honeymoon, and it will take all her strength not to give in to their powerful attraction. What’s more, as the Wolf Queen, Reyna is now considered valuable property.
With their kingdom’s peace hanging in the balance, Reyna must decide how much she is willing to sacrifice for her new husband. But even her best intentions could go horribly wrong because their enemy is hiding sinister secrets…
I am loving this series, the story is so engaging and the author has a really descriptive style to her writing. I would really love to shake Reyna at times, for her inability to trust Elias completely, but Elias is not without faults as well, communication being a big problem between them both.
The strong Reyna from the beginning of book 1 is gone forever to be replaced with a sniveling child. The end of book 1 was severely disappointing, but at beginning of this book I had hopes that she would come back, then we seen a glimpse of the Reyna that fought Elias in the arena, but after the offer from the Dragon king she disappeared especially when she accepted his offer. She is unworthy of having Elias as a mate, or being a wolf queen if at the first difficulty she bends over for another. She just showed an outsider that she bends to those tactics and easily malleable a professional pawn. She has no skills in treaty negotiations except for minor stuff with other wolves. I had high hopes that this author would write a strong FMC through the story, but instead she fell into the over done trope of a strong female turned into a naive child to show some growth…here is a novel idea a strong female does not need any fucking growth, she does not need to collapse in a pile of tears and misguided belief of be wronged. Oh and we can standby our man’s decision supporting him, watch his six just like he watches mine. Spicy level is low, almost a fade to black.
I tried with this .This girl is TSTL and in her ever moaning about everyone is using her as a pawn ,ill just say she made herself a pawn . A piece that only has worth to sacrifice for the other pieces. This was an annoying I know what's best and end up in the poo pile every time .The first book was same . Her love interest only wanted power and got killed for it and she holds this against the king forever . Add book 2 and she is like ,no! I'm gonna do this giving myself to dragon even if he uses my body or what ever ,cause at least YOU won't be making decisions for me so 😋......S T U P I D. I mean she literally broke vows to her king and husband by siding with dragon king ,A smug excuse for a being while husband tried to fight for her she's like No! No! I'm doing this ......omg it was bad . There is absolutely no heat between these ppl .No growing, nothing. So ill let next book go and once again try to find a book where they work for the relationship and none of this eye rolling girls that are wrote weak ,stupid and just plain yawn worthy.
Not me DNFing/returning to Kindle Unlimited after reading approximately 10% because the seggs scene was so disturbing. 🤮
Like why man? If you get to the scene you'll know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Give me an ice cream scoop and call me vanilla - but just no lol.. just no..
I started this as soon as I finished what I had been currently reading. It was akin to picking up a story in the middle without context, even though I'd only read the first book a couple of months ago. Going over my review didn’t jog my memory except for the part about the poisoned dagger. I vaguely remember that and the character who had provided it to Reyna. Nothing, nada, zip about the rest so I guess I’m going to either have to re-read it or plod along here in a daze. I read a lot of series and I’ve never had one escape my memory like this before.
An evil dragon shifter; now that’s disconcerting. Most of the dragons I’ve encountered have been on the side of good. Now, shifty, tricky faes are to be expected and don’t disappoint.
Glad to see Elias and Reyna working towards becoming a united pair. They’re not quite there yet as both are stubborn and pretty immature. I didn’t quite understand what caused Reyna’s abrupt change in her feelings for Elias. One minute she hates him and then, boom, they’re in bed together and everything’s hunky dory. Just because he lets her tag along on a diplomatic visit? Jeez.
This book was fun to read and honestly better than the previous one in terms of originality of plot. Especially because the first one very much felt like I was reading The Selection but with wolf shifters while this one had other things going on. But on the other hand, our FMC, our Reyna, acted so stupid in the beginning of this book. She was so childish and dumb. But later she showed quite a bit of development which was really nice to see. I can't wait to read the next one and finally be done with this series.
Primal Wolf King is the second installment in the Wolves Of The Night series by Lindsey Devin. This book begins by picking up a couple of months following the events in book one. Reyna of Daybreak is now officially the Queen of Frasia; Lady Reyna of Nightfall. She isolates herself in the manor by frequenting the library and only speaks to her handmaidens. She is deeply hurt by her father’s betrayal, Griffin’s hidden agenda, and The Wolf King’s cruelty.
Elias is the ruthless and cruel Wolf King. He genuinely cares for Reyna and does his best to be patient while attempting to seek her forgiveness and earn her trust. Hoping to break through to Reyna, he invites her on a trip to accompany him for peace negotiations in Shianga. The trip forces their proximity for several days and they begin re-building their relationship. Of course, the honeymoon phase doesn’t last long once King Draunar of Shianga makes his demands clear in order to sign the treaty.
Reyna continued to make poor decisions and placing her trust in the wrong people. It was definitely frustrating that she expected a different outcome when negotiating with the enemy. She should have known better that no one is trustworthy. I mean, her own father and lifelong friend betrayed her, so it’s not a far stretch to imagine people she just met to have secrets and schemes. I had really hoped to see Reyna’s character grow to be less naive. The book ended decently and left the door open for future installments in the series.
Somehow Rayna has unwittingly won the King's Challenge contest & has found herself not only married but the new Queen of Nightfall. She can't deny the growing attraction between herself & King Elias but she still refuses to give him her heart. Rayna fears she's traded one gilded cage for another. She has also learnt some shocking things that convince her that her life so far has been built on lies. She feels herself nothing but a pawn between powerful men whilst she still yearns for so much more. Raynar goes on a Royal visit with Elias to the Kingdom of Dragons to negotiate a peace treaty. The journey is more dangerous than anticipated & they have no idea of the trap they're walking into or what heinous plans the Dragon King has in-store for them. Putting her duty as Queen before her growing feelings for Elias, Raynar unwittingly plays into The Dragon Kings hands realizing too late what he had planned & that she does indeed love Elias.
The world building is amazing, truly captivates you and takes you on a journey. Reyna is a strong female lead- she is chosen by Elias to be his queen at the choice. Their relationship starts off as quite cold, however, this blossoms as they get to know each other during their visit to Shianga, dragons land.
There are so many twists and turns in this book and it’s difficult to describe it without giving the plot away. Best to go in blind
Reyna’s trusting and giving nature does tend to get her Into trouble with some of the decisions she makes. However with this comes growth, strength and love. Enjoyed this.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
DNF It’s rare for me to not finish a book, but this was painfully annoying. I liked most of the first book until nearing end when the heroine Reyna turned into an absolute childish selfish hag. I almost didn’t pick up this one but I liked the premise of the core story so decided to give this a chance. My mistake. She gets worse. The level of victim hood is beyond annoying and her blaming the King, who didn’t deserve most of it was eyerolling. I don’t want to give anything away, but in my opinion Reyna was more dishonest and clandestine then the King could ever be. It also didn’t fit within the context of the world the author was crafting where it’s essentially wolves playing at aristocraticy and court. Reyna was born into it making her reactions come across as that much more infantile.
A pet peeve of mine is what I consider “lazy” writing when an author obsessively tries to force conflict in a story just for the sake of creating angst. It makes it unbelievable because it throws shade on the characters and relationship building. Angst is fine but make sure it’s authentic and makes absolute sense.
The author did a wonderful job of world building, but the relationship building and attempt at fleshing out the FMC fell flat. Not only is she childish but she was borderline cruel bully to the MC and for those who really like shifter romances, beware of how she treats her wolf. Again cruel and borderline abusive. I know my rating isn’t the popular opinion, but I particularly find this disappointing because if the author had put as much effort into the MCs relationship development as she did with the world building then this book could have easily been a 5/5.
This wasn’t quite as strong as the first book. There are some slight pacing issues where not much happens for a long stretch of time (considering the books are not super long, that does say something) and Reyna will drive you batshit crazy.
She does eventually come around but she acts like a three year old being told no having a meltdown of epic proportions in public. It’s not cute, it gets old fast and it’s honestly mostly annoying. It makes it hard to root for her most of the time.
Elias is just honestly a patient as all hell king of a dude (also he literally is the king but I digress). Not many other people would be able to stick with someone like Reyna and wait for them to come around. He is nothing but kind, patient and does his best to be understanding with her.
Reyna makes some truly moronic choices multiple times. The dragon king sucks but at least we get some more answers there. She ends up going from one bad situation to another and we cross our fingers and toes that she will make smarter decisions as we go (although we don’t really have high hopes for that).
But (and this is a big one), at least the POS duke finally gets his comeuppance here.
I was excited when this book came out because I wanted to learn more about Reyna, and how she was dealing with her new life. I love dragons, I was excited when Reyna and Elias we’re traveling to see the dragon shifters. They wanted to hash out an alliance with the dragon shifters but that was not working out well. The king of the dragon shifters ended up being a nut and kidnapped Reyna and tried to add her to his Dragon horde. Unfortunately for him, there is another queen in his horde and they ended up escaping together. The other queen in the hoard was the fake queen and now Reyna is free of the Dragon King but now she’s trapped by the Faye queen. She needs to get away and try to warn her husband that the Fae queen is going to attack. I am excited to read the next book of this series to see how they deal with this issue.
Book two was almost as good as book one and definitely made me breeze through for book 3. This one went by very quickly and you could definitely feel Reyna and Elias' relationship start to really build. There are definitely a few frustrating moments with Reyna, but this is understood as a character building moments that are seen later in book 3. She is a little more comfortable in this one than book one, but still has some finding herself to complete to be the full potential. Love Elias and Reyna together, very spicy in this one. Just a quick read here to continue the series but enjoyable. 3 stars as this felt more like a side quest to the next book, needed, but not my favorite.
A fun read. It begins with the same frustrations we ended with in book one. But we are traveling to the dragon kingdom now, and our king and queen are drawing closer, finally, learning more about one another, and their challenges just multiplied. Seekers of power are everywhere, and rulers of honor are a bit rarer.
I struggled at the beginning as it seemed we were spinning our wheels some, but the second half of the book gets better and better. We meet many of the principle players in this world in book two.
An enjoyable read which will be difficult to put down.
Reyna is soooooo irritating. She has had no development in 2 books and constantly just makes up character's thoughts. This isn't a long book, but this took me forever to finish because she's so irritating. I think the problem with this series is too many plots happening at once that just go in and out. Makes things a little confusing and hard to follow. It also prevents the reader from really caring about the characters. There has been little to no character development with any of the main characters. This is just not good. Only one book left and I don't even care about the story not being finished. Life is too short to read not good books.
This was rough. First of all, the typos and grammar were absolutely atrocious. Please hire someone to proof your books! It's really annoying to be dragged out of a story to figure out what you want to say.
Second, did anyone else find our queen to be a bratty 13 year old? The first half of the book I just wanted to smack some sense into her! So many issues would have been avoided if the 2 of them would just communicate with one another.
The overall story is fine, so I am going to finish the series, but I'm going to be so happy when it's done.
I love my fantasy novels and I have read my fare share. A lot of the reads have very chaotic story lines with mistakes bold as daylight. This however is quite the opposite! I was so pleasantly surprised about how this storyline continues. Strong plot, great character development, beautiful descriptions of settings and characters. 10/10 recommend I cannot wait to see how the plot and storyline continues! Enjoy!
OK, the first hooks you in but this one definitely keeps you on the line, I couldn't put it down, the drama, the fights, the dragons, the wolf's life becoming destroyed, I was on the edge of my bed, I love all the characters, I could really see this as a movie, a big action movie, between the different factions, the life and loves, well worth reading.
Did you love the two main characters in the first book? Too bad, those characters aren't in this book. I mean characters with their names do, but the personalities are a complete 180. Enjoy the fun of the first book? Too bad this book is nothing like the first book. It's a manic , unorganized mess of trying to fit too many unrelated full book ideas into one book. I loved the first book, this was just a mess. Very disappointed.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Reyna starts this story maintaining her whiny, self-righteous role; however, I'm pleased to find her quickly evolving (but still capable of mistakes). Elias is guilty of lack of communication with his queen, which brings disastrous results (he's great, but he's not perfect, either). The battles are rather bland. Although there are a few surprise twists/events, this very much reads like a relationship romance. I am still interested in how events will be resolved, though.
2.5⭐ I got recommended the first one and gave it a shot, thoroughly enjoyed the first half of the first book and got excited that I had found a fun wolf series that wasnt super cheesy (despite the covers lol) but I hated the ending of the first book, had to read the second anyway, and now I think I'm done even with the third book up next. Disappointed slightly, wish I could read a series continuing from the first half of the first book 😂
I'm a complete #TeamJacob Girly so wolf shifters have ALWAYS been my thing! I LOVED this fantasy trilogy like you would not believe, jam packed and ticked all the boxes!

The series had a good start, but it desperately needs an editor. There were too many inconsistencies with the plot that just didn't make sense. The other issue I had is with the main character Reyna. She is just terrible. I thought if I got through the first book, I would see character growth in the next book, but it just didn't happen. Her immaturity and lack of emotional growth ruined it for me. I won't be finishing the series.
Reyna has married the fearsome Wolf King Elias but is not happy about it. He truly does care about her, so he invites her along on a journey where they can spend time together and hopefully thaw her heart. Throughout the story, Reyna does not make good decisions. Will this be their downfall?
Great suspenseful story that will have you reading well into the night. She is a pawn. She is his choice. But will Reyna survive as a trophy queen? King Elias fights to win her but will their love survive? There is a twist and turn in every chapter and are surprised with every page turn. Excellent❤️❤️.
Elias takes Rayne on a diplomatic mission to the dragons. The dragon king kidnaps Reyna and Elias declared war on the dragons. Meanwhile Rayna is locked up with a Fae queen and they figure out how to escape. Then when they escape the Fae queen takes Rayne captive and dethrones the Dragon king
Well, I was not expecting very much from this book. Usually, the first book is the best of the books. However, I was very wrong. I thought it was going to be a continuation like the other one, where Reyna was being bratty. I’m happy to see that that was not the case. This book, I would definitely recommend.
