My name is Marney and I am immortal. Oh, and I also hunt rogues. Did I mention that part?

I used to work worked alone. Cold-hearted. Distant. But Ciaran Connor changed all that.

He's a vampire, the sworn enemy of an immortal, and I should have hated him. But I didn't. With his help, I managed to foil an attempt to destroy London, enslave humanity, and give vampires dominance over the other races. After that, life should be easy, right?

Sure. Who am I kidding?

Because if there's one thing I've learned the hard way, it's that your past has a nasty habit of catching up with you. So when Ciaran's past comes knocking and dark secrets are revealed, my world is thrown into chaos. Again.

If I don't find a way to save him, I'll lose Ciaran forever. But it's not just my heart that's at risk: it's the whole of London because Ciaran holds the key to stopping a deadly threat that's stalking my streets. Can I find him before it's too late? Wish me luck. I'm going to need it.

This is book two of the Immortals of London series and the main characters are Marney Stone, an Immortal, and her new partner Ciaran Connor, a vampire working for the Vampire Synod. She always used to work alone, hunting rogue vampires, so being paired with one took her a while to get used to, but Ciaran is now more than just someone she works with and they are in love with each other. Together, they managed to stop a crazy vampire resurrect an old cult, that attempted to destroy London and enslave humanity, making the vampires the dominant race. There is a peace treaty between vampires, immortals and humans and the council her own father is head of, helps to keep this peace. They thought they had stopped all those behind this mad scheme, but it seems some are still alive and out there. Someone from Ciaran’s past comes back to haunt him and they have a powerful tool to force him to do what they want. Marney’s world is about to be thrown into chaos and her streak of taking action and ignoring orders, is going to make matters so much worse for her and Ciaran.
The clan he used to be part of back in Ireland, wants him back and are going to punish him for leaving them. He was their assassin, doing as ordered and killing people without any regrets. But he wasn’t doing this of his own free will, the head of his clan took his soul and left him as a simple killing machine, unstoppable and without any humanity. Marney is about to see that side of him, in another plan by one of the Church of the Prime leaders who got away. What her end game actually is, is hidden from Marney and she is only blinded by her desire to get Ciaran back! The aim of his clan leader and the Prime leader is far more damaging to the paranormals and the peace treaty than anyone can understand. The very people that are the most important to her, are going to be used to force her hand and make her act in an unauthorised manner and putting others in harm’s way! A hard lesson to learn and both she and Ciaran will have difficult decisions to make. Immortals, Vampires and humans are at risk under these women’s sick plan and a war will be started that many will lose their lives trying to stop. There won’t be happy outcomes for all and both will have to face up to the ramifications of their actions, past and present. What their futures will be, is up in the air and Marney will find an unusual ally along the way. Full of action and danger, with impulsive actions being used against her and having to pay the price! I can’t wait to see what they get up to next. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

This story pick up nicely from the end of book one. I love Marney's strength and the fact that she can take care of herself, but even she needs help sometimes. Great MCs and an interesting plot, filled action that held my interest, with characters that make for a great story! I Loved It!!! No Spoilers!.

This is the second book in the Immortals of London and continues the story of Marney and Ciaran. It's 6 months later and Marney and Ciaran catch rogues together. They are asked to find a missing human woman and during this Ciaran comes across someone he knew from Belfast. They walk into a trap, Marney is knocked unconscious, and Ciaran is gone when she wakes.

Like the first book, this was a fast-paced adventure, and a LOT happens in a small amount of time. The story is told from Marney's POV and one is left guessing about Ciaran which is part of the mystery. New characters are introduced, and old ones brought back. It was a non-stop suspenseful story that the author managed to weave together. Some plot points at the end were glossed over and, in this book, I did start to wonder if Marney was actually so awesome - she gets captured/knocked out a lot and blunders into things and needs a bit too much rescuing from unlikely sources. Having said that it was still an enjoyable book and I recommend reading it.

Magnificent hard hitting action, non-stop drama, and a badass independent heroine.
