It’s not every day you bring a boyfriend back as a souvenir.
Katie Wilhite is ready to settle into her new job as a librarian now that college is through, but friends Bree and Skye want one more girls’ trip, and when Bree insists this is her bachelorette fling, Katie agrees. What she didn’t agree to was allowing fun and flighty Skye to dictate the itinerary or for her anxiety to kick in harder than ever … right in front of a cute guy.
Camden Malone had no idea when he agreed to be the voice of reason on his cousin Ryan’s vacation that the trip wouldn’t stay in New Orleans as planned. But when Ryan plots with Skye so that the guys can tag along with the girls all week, he isn’t nearly as upset as he should be. Not with Katie’s fiery temper and flashing eyes intriguing him more by the minute.
Can Katie relax enough to trust Camden and a possible future, or will she continue to push him away as only a vacation fling? And can Camden move past a rocky history of his own to be able to jump into a better future? For a trip that was supposed to be all about fun, there’s a lot of romance going around.
Amy R Anguish grew up a preacher's kid, and in spite of having lived in seven different states that are all south of the Mason Dixon line, she is not a football fan. Currently, she resides in Tennessee with her husband, daughter, and son, and usually a bossy cat or two. Amy has an English degree from Freed-Hardeman University that she intends to use to glorify God, and she wants her stories to show that while Christians face real struggles, it can still work out for good.
I don't read a lot of rom-coms, so if I read one, I want the characters to be actually Christian and the character development to be worth my time. Amy Anguish writes characters with real problems who ask real questions. They pray, invite each other to church, and avoid situations that invite temptation. The storytelling and prose are smooth and characters compelling. I'm interested in reading more by this author.
1. Great Characters. Amy Anguish’s characters are so life like! Katie is the ultimate damsel in distress and Camden is her night in shining armor! But these two are far from the cliché. They are so full of life, completely realistic characters – flaws and all!
2. Fun destinations. Besides Katie’s destination of romance, this girls road trip has many twists and turns. Katie and her friends set out to enjoy New Orleans, Gulf Shores and Atlanta. Memphis is their final destination. If you are familiar with these places, you’ll recognize them through Mrs. Anguish’s descriptions!
3. Emotional story line. You will definitely laugh through the wild and crazy ride. The adventure that Katie has will make you cry at times too. Every minute will have you on the edge of your seat with what might happen next! Finally, the ending will leave you immensely satisfied yet oddly craving the next adventure.
You can continue to follow the journey in future books and stowaway on Katie’s friend’s adventures. I received an ARC of this book, but all opinions are my own.
I’ve been on about 3 road trips with friends, and all were with people I’d met over the internet … to go hang out with more people I’d met over the internet. LOL. My mother just knew I was going to be kidnapped by an ax murderer, but I’m happy to report that the craziest person in each of these situations was me 😉
Katie’s post-graduation road trip with her two besties has barely begun when she’s beaned in the head with a high-powered volleyball and falls into the pool, only to be rescued by the cute guy responsible. Imagine how my mom would have felt about that! #axmurderer haha (Love you, Mom!) I instantly liked Camden (aka Prince Charming) – he’s mature (in stark contrast to his cousin Ryan) and considerate, he loves Jesus, and his interactions with Katie & her friends are always full of respect. I liked Katie too (though i didn’t relate to her as much), but I really liked Camden and Katie together. They bring out the best in each other, which is one thing I always look for in fictional relationships I’m reading about, and they gird up each other’s weaknesses. There’s definite attraction between them, too, and the sparks from their first kiss could set off their own fireworks show!
As this is the first book in a new series, there’s also some setting up of future books. Enter Bree & Skye, Katie’s best friends & road trip companions. Bree – and the stunning twist to her story – most draws me, but I’ve also found that sometimes the supporting characters I like the least (ahem. Skye.) end up being the main characters of the stories I like the most. So I’m definitely not writing off flighty & seemingly-selfish Skye yet; instead I’m looking forward to where her story will go.
Bottom Line: Destination Romance by Amy R. Anguish is a fun and lighthearted romance that also doesn’t shy away from meatier topics like forgiveness, PTSD and trauma. I loved watching Camden and Katie fall in love, and I enjoyed traveling vicariously to New Orleans, Gulf Shores, and Memphis on the pages of their story. (I live in Atlanta so I just vicariously waved as they drove past me lol.) If you’re looking for a sweet summer romance that will touch your heart, make sure Destination Romance is on your TBR list!

My favorite part about this novel was the hero, Camden. He was almost too good to be true, and I think his character kept me reading long after I became fed up with Katie.
Oh boy...Katie. I understand what the author was doing with her character, and it was probably fairly accurate to someone who suffers from a diagnosis that she does (although Cam is not a psychiatrist and can't diagnose that...but I'm not going to post any spoilers). Unfortunately, it made her a mostly unlikeable character for me.
This was a very melodramatic read with a lot of ups and downs, and by the end I was almost wishing that Cam got someone nicer. Maybe that's petty of me since this was a Christian romance, and none of us are perfect, but darn it...he was just so sweet, and she just....wasn't.
I think the writing, editing, and even the storyline was good. I also enjoyed the descriptions of the various settings. It just wasn't my cup of tea. If you're a fan of "enemies to lovers" type romances, you'll probably enjoy this one a lot. For me, the relationship just felt rather one-sided, and I don't enjoy those types of romances.
If you like contemporary romance, I think you'll enjoy joining college graduates and best friends Katie, Bree, and Skye on their last road trip adventure before Bree's wedding and the beginning of Katie's career as a librarian. The author shows that even best friends have conflicts with one another, and that well-laid plans don't always happen the way expected.
Katie's surprise introduction to Camden on this girl's only vacation is the heart of the story, and their relationship builds with forward and backward steps along the way. Camden's maturity and understanding is a foil for Katie's temper and anxiety as she's forced to deal with the memory of a traumatic childhood experience.
Amy is good at developing her characters, and the plot is interesting, at times fun, and includes Christian faith as an important element.
I received a digital ARC of this book with no expectation of return. The opinions and comments above are mine alone.
A unique story with a strange meeting. Romance after an unusual first impression. Great story that was hard to put down. Good characters and fun story to read. I received a copy of this book but all opinions are mine.
Destination: Fun Romance is the first book I have read by Amy Anguish. I don't know that it is technically a young adult novel, but it read like one to me.
I had a hard time relating to Katie and I really didn't like Bree. Not having a good connection with the characters, I didn't love the book. It was well-written, but I might need to shy away from young characters and the immaturity that they can sometimes bring.
Destination: Romance is a great read to kick off the summer. A girls' trip, a couple cute guys, and seeing the sights along the way. While Katie and Skye have a relationship that makes me a bit happy I'm not in that friend circle, I think we can all relate to that best friend who is so different in personality that sometimes we even wonder why we're friends. And even when we do usually get along, who hasn't hit a rough patch with their bestie?
When Camden enters the picture, no one's vacation turns out as expected. The intrusion alone is enough to push Katie out of her well-planned comfort zone for the trip even without her disagreements with Skye. It may just be the push she needs to relax and let the possibilities have a chance to become reality in her professional life, her friendships, and even in romance.
Amy Anguish has done it again! From the dynamic characters to the exciting plots this book has it all. Each page is filled with friendship, adventure, love, and faith. This book was easy to read but had meaningful subjects woven in each chapter. I felt like I was in the car, riding along with my best friends on the trip of a lifetime! After the last chapter I was left wanting more and am eager for the next installments to see what happens to these three friends. I can’t wait to tag along on their next trip!

I needed a book that included a summer vacation or road trip for a reading challenge on participating in. This one was suggested and so I decided to give it a whirl. And I am so glad I did. What a fun read. Perfect anytime of year for sure but especially for a summertime read.
I will say one thing that made this book even more fun for me is the fact that I’ve been everywhere they went. They started out in New Orleans, went to Gulf Shores, into Atlanta and onto to Memphis. I’ve been to all of those multiple times and know them pretty well, so that made this even more enjoyable to read.
There are two more books in this series and I’m looking forward to reading them both .
Katie is the most introverted of her group of friends -- friends that insist on going on a "girls trip" before one of them gets married. She's not looking for love, but Camden sure is cute. And nice. And just the kind of guy she would like. If she were looking. The trips are fun, and the girls' relationships are sure to entertain over the course of this series of vacation stories! Great, lighthearted romance, and deals with subjects like forgiveness, trust, PTSD, and many other issues Christians deal with. Great read!
If you're looking for a sweet romance then look no further than Destination: Romance! A fun story of love at first sight that has you rooting for Camden and Katie from the first page. The author did a great job of bringing us along on the journey, making the food and sites come to life. Well-written and a quick read - the perfect book to take along on your next vacation! I can't wait to read what happens next for the trio of friends in the next book!
A fun read with many quirky moments. I enjoyed the roadtrip having been to 2 of the places in the book. I enjoy a good baseball game and could relate to that stop. The story has a good message woven into it and deals with some real life issues very well. I look forward to reading more by this author.
When I'm looking for something fun, cute, and romantic, this is the type of story I'm looking for. I loved Camden, and while Katie was somewhat aggravating at times, I will keep reading because I want to see how she changes. I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment!
First book by this author. I enjoyed 😉 reading 📚 it, it kept my interest throughout the book 📖. Camden was the hottie in the book. Katie took on a librarian career. Two of my favorite things, hottie guys 👦 and books 📚!
