Good and evil kings. Passionate prophets. Prophecies that shape our modern age.
The Old Testament is full of theologically rich books that both recount and shape history. They also set the stage for the long-awaited Messiah, containing more than 300 prophecies covering His birth, life, death, and resurrection.
People of the Promise: Kingdom Divided will unpack a fascinating period in Israel’s history across 15 books, from its split into two nations, through dozens of kings and prophets and ultimately to the heartbreaking exile into Babylon.
Jesus loved the Old Testament. And you will too.
Explore 15 of the books Jesus deeply loved in community, discussing questions around the goodness of God amidst calamity, mercy, ultimate allegiance, judgment, and salvation. Join others in finding answers and how they apply to modern life.
This study has been selected for the 2022-2023 school year and is available summer of 2022 for purchase in connection with joining a Bible Study Fellowship Group. More information can be found at the website link.
About BSF Our mission is global, in-depth Bible studies producing passionate commitment to Christ, His Word and His Church. Our vision is to magnify God and mature His people.
Our History “One Willing Servant” depicts how God inspired our founder, Audrey Wetherell Johnson, a British missionary to China, who had been forced to leave, to start Bible Study Fellowship. Miss Johnson’s first group of five women grew until groups sprang up all across the U.S., and ultimately around the globe. By 1980, Miss Johnson had been writing BSF lessons and leading a blossoming ministry for more than 25 years. Her decision to retire led to a major move for the organization to San Antonio, Texas. Today, Bible Study Fellowship – through Men’s, Women’s, Student, Children’s and Newborn groups, BSF Online and BSF’s WordGo app — serves more than 400,000 class members on six continents in more than 120 nations.
This publication structured a nine month Bible Study for the 2022-23 school year. I was blessed to work through it with an online group.
Even by rigorous BSF standards, Kingdom Divided is a heavy work load, particularly the weeks where the entire book of Isaiah (66 Chapters) and the entire book of Jeremiah (52 Chapters) are assigned. This ambitious overview covers sections of 1-2 Kings, 1-2 Chronicles and the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah and Habakkuk. Parts of Malachi are also discussed.
This is not to say this is not an excellent study, just that it is difficult to keep up with. I had the added blessing of participating in a simple Sunday morning study of the minor prophets during the same time frame. Each week, we read aloud a chapter, and discussed it, working our way through the minor prophets. It was a wonderful complement to this study.
The prophets have a lot to say about how and why a civilization steeped in the JudeoChristian culture collapses. Israel's history in the land and these prophetic books have a tremendous amount of encouragement for us, as well as instructing us about God, mankind, the rise and fall of nations and the coming kingdom.
The Bible Study Fellowship study for school year 2023-24 has been announced as: The Gospel of John
You are invited to join in, if you'd like. If the somewhat local group I was in this year doesn't resume an online study, I will join an international group. Interested? You can use this link to access BOTH local, in-person groups, and online groups. https://join.bsfinternational.org/
A 30-lesson Bible study detailing the rise and fall of Old Testament Israel and the "divided kingdom." I treasure each week I spent learning about each king and digging into the way God moved before Jesus entered the scene. He gave me fresh eyes to see His mercy and justice side-by-side through very difficult passages. I'm so grateful for BSF and look forward to this year's study in John.
I have taken many Bible studies, and i think this is one of the best. It is long and complicated, and who would have thought so many truths and life lessons would speak to my heart. It is also a study that was timely for what was going on in my life.
I loved this in depth study of the prophets and kings. I really was able to understand God’s character & love for his people and the generations to come through this study. Bible Study Fellowship is awesome!
