Meliora Loxley was used to chaos, from the day she was born her life was one big game of cat and mouse; with her father being the once legendary Robin Hood she could expect nothing less.
However after a while, the chaos settled, Robin took his rightful place as Lord of Tarvin and all seemed rosy in the garden… But that peace was quickly disturbed when a Ranger by the name of Lorian fell through the family’s door half dying and battered, but this was just the start…
An evil by the name of The Augury stirred in the southern lands of Noctonia; a dastardly plan for power being all their hearts desired.
In this prequel to ‘The Four Horsemen & Pan’ follow along as Meliora teams up with the most unlikely of forces to save the dragons and stop the creation of an inter-dimensional gateway.
Will their plan succeed? Find out in The Dragons of Thavéil
I will admit that my review is a bit biased as I admire both the author and their works, however, it is not easy for me to find a book that keeps me invested or gives me the "reader experience", but The Dragons of Thavéil has changed both these things for me.
I have aphantasia which makes it difficult for me to truly feel invested in new stories but just after a few lines in the book, I became invested in the guild's journey and within a few minutes of reading, I finally felt the way I had heard many others describe reading their beloved stories.
It was something I had not experienced since reading The Hobbit for the first time and I am excited to say that this book gave me those feelings and many more as I followed the guild alongside their journey, it even de-throned TH from being my favorite adventure book.
I laughed, I cried, I mourned - I went on an adventure with them, leaving my troubles behind to aid with theirs as I experienced every twist and turn by their sides with every page I turned.
It got to a point I had to lock my copy up in a safe with the hopes of getting some work done before I read another chapter.
I highly recommend this book and the entire series if you have been searching for a new series or just want to go on a new adventure, it is worth every cent and millions more.
Truly thank you with my entire heart for writing such an amazing book that allowed me to forget my worries and be a part of the guild, I will cherish this book forever as I have a feeling I will read it until I memorize every word and every name in it.
Can we just stop and talk about the descriptions in this book for a moment because Oh my goodness gracious! They are beautiful and they really just draw you into the moment and make you feel as though you are actually there in the scene.
"The tunnel was dim, filled with brightly coloured gemstones and crystals lit by neverending torch light, it was almost like a dream and as they walked further and further in, the gateway sealed behind them, the tunnel now leading into a large open cave, secluded from the rest of the world under the mountain. Wisps of pale blue aurora danced around the open rock, the coolness of the cave causing shivers and goosebump to rise on the guilds skin and upon looking up they could see the hill was in fact not a hill... or a mountain for that fact, it was- itself a gateway. The cool breeze from the volcanic opening blew past Meliora’s neck, carrying the spores of fungi on the wind; the microscopic particles tickling her neck"
This was just one of my favourite moments, when they finally reach WinterHill, the description is just so whimsical, I would kill to see this cave, it just sounds so- Idk its like they say when you die and you go to wherever it is you go- its almost as if you're coming home and you return to the earth, I hope that when I die I can see the world of Noctonia, even with the dangers everything else seems so wonderful and nice.
This book has everything I love and more! Magic, dragons, found family, humour, friendship, love and heartbreak. The description and details are stunning and the build up of tension was even moreso! I was invested from start to finish, couldn't put it down for even a second and finished the book in less than a day!
Oh my god! where do I begin! The whole vibe of this book just stirred the most wholesome and loving found family vibes which I yearn for! I wish this was a series and not a stand alone book because I need more of the Dragons Guild! Their dynamic as friends and lovers made me so happy- I might just have to read again because I miss this world and the way it made me feel! If your looking for an easy read that has Comedy, Love, Dragons, Pirates, Fun, Betrayal, Drama and Heartache then this is for you! I honestly wish I could see the Granguard Games in real life they sound so fun and if I could get a team of people together I would so try to recreate them! (Minus the whole capture the flag fiasco!)
But anyway THIS is a definite recommendation!
Fave Character - Guy (I love Anti-Heroes) Fave Moment - The Forgers Camp (The Haunting song & Wholesome family vibes) Laughing Moment - Boof & Beebs (If you know you know!) 10/10
