Bishop was looking for a boy of his own, but he didn’t expect that boy to be his best friend’s little brother.
When Rory’s car breaks down on the way to make the most important delivery of his career, he thinks it is the worst thing that could have possibly happened to him. Little did he know it would turn out to be the best.
Lucky for him, his brother’s best friend comes to the rescue, and not only is his career saved, but he learns that sometimes what we really need isn’t at all what we thought we wanted. Now he just has to convince his big ole bear that he is a grown man and not the kid he remembers from years ago
If strong men who work hard, play hard, and love even harder are your thing, you won’t want to miss the Blue Collar Daddies series.
This is the last book (#6) in the Blue-Collar Daddies series. We meet Bishop, who isn't really looking, but wouldn't say "no" to finding a boy of his own. The last thing he expected was for that boy to be his best friend's little brother, Rory. Bishop owns and runs an auto repair shop so when Rory's car breaks down on the way to make the most important delivery of his career, (he's a fantastic cookie baker), Bishop comes to the rescue of both his career and Rory, himself. Now Rory only has to convince the "big Papa Bear" that he is not a kid anymore. He has a career that he loves and knows what he wants in life.
I loved this story with Rory's business about to take off and Bishop trying to fight his attraction, (but not too hard), to the man he sees before him. Bishop eventually shows Rory that he doesn't want to boss him or own him...he only wants to love him...and won't object at all if Rory wants to call him "Daddy". Bishop did everything that he could to support Rory's dreams and success.
One thing that has aways been good about this series is that we don't lose track of previous characters. It was great to see all the other boys and Daddies making sure that Bishop was good for Rory and that his priorities were right. This was an easy read with a warm feeling and so easy-to-understand the intentions on the part of both men. This story...actually the entire 6 books in the series, were on the "vanilla" side of a BDSM-DDLB dynamic that came together perfectly.
Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.
This book was flat and boring. There was no chemistry or tension between the MCs, and I don’t get why they’re together beyond the author writing it that way. The word ‘cookie’ is mentioned 350 times, and the MC’s name ‘Bishop’ is mentioned 239 times. It could’ve just been a story about Rory baking and decorating cookies. That’s what it felt like anyway.
I was briefly intrigued by the fact that Rory wasn’t interested in daddy kink, but that was fumbled because he did end up changing his mind and I don’t even know why.
2.5 stars rounded up because it feels wrong rating it lower.

If ever there was an award for the sweetest, kindest, most supporting Daddy, Bishop would take it hands down. What an adorable pair he and Rory make.
I love the blue-collar daddies and their band of merry boys, and Bishop and Rory are such a great addition to their family. The acceptance, love and friendship this group comes with is lovely.
Bishop is pushed back into Rory’s life when his best friend and Rory’s brother asked him to help out when Rory’s car breaks down. What this sexy bear of a mechanic finds is a grown-up Rory that seems to tug at all his daddy instincts.
Rory grew up with an overprotective mother who, though it was out of love, smothered him. He’s trying to make a go at his specialty cookie business that his mom refers to as his ‘hobby’. No one has taken much interest, let only been invested in his success. Until Bishop.
Rory doesn’t want a Daddy, there are controlling and he’s had enough of that in his life. Except Rory is about to find out that Daddies are made perfect for their boys, and this one just wants to see his boy shine!
Bishop is the sixth and last book in the Blue Collar Daddies series and is the story of Bishop and Rory. It is a Daddy/Boy story that is hot and steamy. The book is well-written and an enjoyable read. I loved the side characters and they make appearances from the previous books, so best read in order. The cookies sound absolutely delicious and I just wanted to eat them while reading. Overall very enjoyable read. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Not only do I want more Rory and Bishop because they’re utterly delicious, but now I’m craving cookies; all the cookies, but only if they’re made and decorated by the ever talented Rory. “‘You’re the brightest part of my day, and I would hate myself if I made you feel suffocated or if you felt like being with me dimmed your light in any way. All I want is for you to shine.’” I adore how Bishop understands Rory, who he is and showers him with care, while allowing Rory to flourish. They’re sweet, spicy goodness and I love them. Add in an excellent serving of friends and found family, and you’ll see why I gobble these books up as soon as I can.
I've read this author before. This is a MM romance set in the USA. Main characters are Rory a small time cookie maker and Bishop a mechanic shop owner. Friends to lovers genre. Slow burn. Bishop knows he is a Daddy but cannot find a perfect fit. Rory is slow to understand every relationship is different. I really enjoyed this sweet story. I have not read the rest of the series but will go back and read them. This book can be read as a standalone, but many of the other Daddy/Boy relationship are mentioned.
Bishop is the sixth book in the Blue Colar Daddies series by Jacki James. This book is about Bishop and Rory. Bishop is and has been Rory's older brother’s best friend. They haven't seen each other in years but then Rory's car breaks down and his brother sends Bishop.
I loved their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written. I also want cookies now.
Bishop by Jacki James is the 6th book in her Blue Collar Daddies series. I would suggest reading the others first if you are interested in the back stories of some of the side characters. This is the story of Bishop and Rory. Bishop is a mechanic and owns his own shop. He is also a Daddy but hasn’t been able to find a Boy of his own. He doesn’t have a lot of friends but he has been asked to hang out with a group of Daddies so he starts doing that, hoping he might find a Boy. Rory is Bishop’s best friend’s brother and is a just starting cookie business. His cookies are very creative and delicious but he is baking them out of his apartment kitchen and selling to friends by word of mouth or online. He has a big order that he is delivering when his car breaks down. Luckily Bishop shows up and takes him where he needs to go just in time so his business isn’t destroyed. They both find themselves attracted to each other but don’t act on it because Bishop doesn’t want to lose Rory’s brother’s friendship and Rory believes Bishop still thinks of him as a kid. However, as they spend more time together they find that they want to see where a relationship could go, especially when Rory’s brother thinks it's a good idea. The one thing holding them back is that Bishop is a Daddy and Rory doesn’t think he wants to be a Boy. He knows about Daddies because several of his friends are Boys and one of them has a lot of rules that Rory doesn’t like and he doesn’t want to give up his independence. However, once he learns that every Daddy/Boy relationship is different he changes his mind, especially since he knows how considerate and caring Bishop is and how he acts towards him. The story goes on as Bishop continues to help him out with his business and with his family and they fall in love. I really enjoyed this story. Ms. James has a writing style that keeps you reading to find out what happens next. Her characters are engaging and well written. She portrays them as real people who have real problems and are caring and kind. The side characters also added some humor as well as advice for both Bishop and Rory and helped them find what they needed from each other. I also liked that the book brought home the belief that all Daddy/Boy relationships are different and that you can make them be what you need for each other. I highly recommend this book, especially if you are a fan of Daddy/Boy stories, and I’m looking forward to reading more from Ms. James.
That was the sweetest thing that I have read in a long time and not only because Rory bakes and decorates cookies for a living. Bishop is his way older brother's friend. He owns a car repair workshop and lives for his business. So when Rory is on his way to deliver cookies to an important customer and his car breaks down his brother Dustin rings his friend who's shop is nearby. Bishop can't believe that his friend's little brother is a grown up sexy man when he meets him again, but he fights his desire with all the excuses under the sun. I really enjoyed reading this book. I read the first book in the series a while ago, but I couldn't place their names. Having missed the other four books I had to content myself with a lot of names of couples that made an appearance who I lost track off. So while this could be read as a stand alone, I highly suggest to read the other five books first. This isn't an angsty book and there isn't much drama in it apart from an overprotective mother and the main characters having doubts about the "friend's little brother" situation. Oh, and that tiny elephant in the room about Bishop being a daddy and Rory not wanting a daddy, because the only Daddy/boy relationship he knows has an aspect to it he doesn't want for his own relationship. It's a feel good book with lovable characters, no real villains and a lot of cookies.
Rory is friends with all the boys in this series but he definitely isn't interested in one of his own. He doesn't exactly understand the attraction but then he also doesn't understand the many different ways to be in a Daddy/boy relationship. When he needs a mechanic he gets help from his brother's friend Bishop. Rory also doesn't know Bishop is a Daddy. As Rory encounters difficult situations, Bishop slowly does what he does best, provide a safe space for Rory to flourish with love, support, caring and gentle discipline in order for Rory to live his best life with his Daddy's guidance. The chemistry between them was instantaneous and I really enjoyed seeing Rory become the best version of himself.
This is the 6th book in the Blue Collar Daddies series and I loved it just as much as the others. This book focuses on Bishop who is a mechanic and friend of Gunnar and Rory who is a baker with his own cookie business.
I loved these two so much! I thought it was great the way Bishop’s daddy tenancies shone through in all the little things he started doing for Rory. I also enjoyed how determined Rory was that he didn’t need a daddy but was still patient enough to listen to Bishop as he explained it all.
I always love how everyone in this series is connected and how they all show up the whole way through and this book is no exception. Another great book from Jacki James and I loved it!
I absolutely love how Jacki James explores the Daddy/boy relationship differently with each book she writes and how unique Bishop and Rory's relationship is - and how it evolves further within the story! I'm also a sucker for best friend's borther/brother's best friend tropes and a boy in distress...
Plus - cookies - omg, do not read this book on an empty stomach - you'll be googling cookie recipes for days...
So sweet and just the right amount of steamy! I couldn't put Bishop down...
Phenomenal story about finding your partner with a little extra. Rory has fought for his independence and he’s not in a hurry to let someone boss him around. Bishop has made a good life for himself and he needs a partner who he can cuddle and help out if needed. Rory and Bishop has a past with knowing each other. Together they figure out they each are just right for one another.
Not all Daddys are created equal. Good thing for Rory. He doesn't need one to control his every movement, and Bishop is the perfect fit... low key... behind the scenes... he just wants to make sure Rory is happy, healthy, and shines at all he does. Low-angst and super sweet, this book is a great read if you need to destress or want to immerse in a happy story, beginning, middle, and end.
Best friends brother story's are awesome to read especially when the best friend has no issues with it!
Rory and Bishop and the way their love grows organically and the daddy/boy relationship is caring and sweet not super dommy is enjoyable in this instance.
Rory started life with severe asthma. His Mom became overprotective and a real helicopter Mom. Even when he became an adult, his Mother wouldn't let up. Rory started his own cookie business. It was just starting to take off and he was feeling successful. He had this large delivery for a baby shower when his car broke down, leaving him stranded. He quickly called his brother for help. When Bishop got a call from his best friend, Dustin, about his brother being stranded with a dead car, being a machinic, he agreed to see if he could help. The last time he saw Rory, he was a kid. He was surprised to see a grown up man instead. Bishop, being a Daddy has been wanting settle down with his own boy. When Rory sees how his best friend, Gavin, has to ask permission from his Daddy to do anything, Rory wants nothing to do with a Daddy/Boy relationship. He's an independent man now and he had enough of his Mother's hovering. Bishop and Rory can feel the attraction between each other. Will Rory be able to let go of his assumptions to allow Bishop to show him what kind of Daddy he'll be? Can Bishop let go of his concerns about their age difference? Ms. James writes a great story and knows how to develop her characters and make them relatable.
Spoiler . . . . . That was so cute!!!! One of the best Daddy/boy story I've read lately. With the right amount of protectiveness, caring and sexy scenes. It's an amazing way to show the best friend's brother trope. I loved how supportive was Dustin, not going full protective of his brother, even with Rory's health issues, but instead was him who encouraged Bishop in pursuing a relationship, or at least asking for a date with Rory. Both the MCs are well developed and relatable. And how is hot a vers Daddy!!! If during that intercourse the author had shown his prep, I'd had given it 5⭐ I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I adore all of the Daddy Boy couples in this series! I think my favorite thing about Bishop and Rory is that it is not the Boy needing a Daddy dynamic that truly brings them together and makes them the perfect couple. Rory is not a boy in the true sense and is not really sure he wants to be. He is also fiercely independent! These two just find they are attracted to each other and cannot seem to really deny that. Bishops wants someone to care about and support and well Rory is okay with a little bit of that! They communicate and fall naturally into the perfect romance for them! Of course, they get the support and help of all our other guys! Sweet as cookies story!
Saved by his brother's friend that he hasn’t seen in years. Of course he would fit exactly what he wants in a man. Bishop never thought when he agreed to do his best friend Dustin a favor he would find the boy he’s been hoping for. Can they actually make something work without messing up each of their relationships with Dustin. A sweet daddy romance with just enough heat!
Rory and Bishop are the best! I loved seeing Rory come in to his own, getting what he wanted by running his business so well and Bishop was there for it all, gently supporting and caring for him all along the way. I enjoyed seeing all the other boys and daddy’s throughout the book.
This was a quick and cute daddy/boy story. Bishop is a daddy who’d love a boy to make a life with. Rory doesn’t even know he’s a boy and frankly, doesn’t want that lifestyle based on some assumptions he’s made. Turns out, these two are a perfect match.
Bishop really loves taking care of Rory. He’s not overbearing in any way, just caring and considerate. Rory doesn’t even realize he’s being daddied. This approach makes it easier for Rory to accept that having a daddy isn’t exactly a bad thing. There were some slows parts to this book that made it seem longer than it was. I wish Bishop had made a move sooner than he did and didn’t agonize over Rory’s brothers reaction.
Overall, I really liked Bishop’s daddy style. He was patient and waited for Rory to realize that their relationship suited him very well. He supported Rory’s business while encouraging him to reach for his dreams. Bishop was the perfect daddy for Rory and I really enjoyed their story.
When we met Rory previously I was excited about him finding a Daddy and this was even better than I hoped. I really enjoyed that this was a bit of a slower burn. Rory and Bishop definitely took things at their own pace and it was sweet to watch things develop. Bishop was a total sweetheart. That man was just the biggest cinnamon roll of a guy. I loved that he understood Rory’s need for independence and was conscious of the need to help Rory understand their relationship ship wasn’t about control. I’m sad this is the last book of the series as I’d happily read another 6 but I also hope that maybe at some point in the future we might get a glimpse of these lovely characters somewhere else.
This was a quick but very delightful cute story! Bishop and Rory were so sweet together! I loved that Rory was so independent but he gave Bishop and the other boys a chance to explain how the Daddy/boy relationships were unique to each couple. Bishop was a total sweetheart and just what Rory needed. Loved how he supported Rory! This was a super sweet story and loved catching up with all the other characters in this series! This whole series is awesome and I highly recommend! I am voluntarily leaving an honest review for this complimentary copy of this book
This is book 6 of the Blue Collar Daddies series. You can enjoy this book without having read the previous books first but it would make it easier to figure out who all the other couples are. This is the story of Rory and Bishop. Rory is working hard to make his new cookie company as success. When his car breaks down on the way to a very important delivery, he call his brother for help. Unbeknownst to Rory, his brother sends his best friend to help instead. Bishop shows up and remembers Rory from their childhood. He helps Rory out and arranges for his car to be towed to his garage. It is the first time that someone has taken Rory seriously and supported him. A friendship grows between the two gaming geeks. But what if they want more. Will Bishop finally see Rory as an adult and not his best friends little brother? Will Bishop be willing to cross the best friend code of behaviour? Will Rory go after what he wants? This is their story. Rory has worked hard to earn his independence and he is not willing to give any of it up. Bishop wants to have a boy but until now never found one that would fit into his life. Rory believes that a Daddy will be bossy and take over his life. That is all that he has seen of Daddys. The boys from the previous books all get together and show Rory what having a Daddy is all about. Perhaps a happy ever after is in their future. I really loved this book. I liked the respect and caring that Rory and Bishop show each other. The book is well written and easy to read. I look forward to reading more by this author.
I received an ARC from the author and am leaving my honest opinion.
"Bishop" is a pleasant and sweet, if largely uneventful, Daddy/boy love story.
Perpetually single cookie baker Rory (mid-20s) doesn't see the appeal of having a Daddy, at least not outside of a bedroom, until sexy Papa Bear mechanic Bishop (35) comes to his roadside rescue. Bishop remembers his old friend's little brother as just that, a little kid, but the all grown-up ginger cutie checks all his boxes.
Not a whole lot really happens in their HEA journey, it's more of a slow-roll (but not slow-burn) through their everyday lives and often in great detail - work, pets, friendships, the mundane - with some attraction and romance tossed in the mix.
Building up their "friendship with mild Daddy overtones" was nice, but the story only got going for me around the 50% mark when they began dating, and I could've used more romance (and Rory exploring Daddy k¡nk for the first time) and less everyday minutiae. I also didn't really buy into Bishop's "friend's little brother" issue as a reason for not pursuing Rory, seeing as he hadn't been close to Rory's brother since high school.
All of the Blue Collar Daddies books are standalones, but the friends group(s) of Daddies and their boys does grown over the course of the series. If you like light, low-angst Daddy/boy stories and quick, pleasant reads, I recommend giving the series a try. I received an advance reading e-copy of this book and have left this honest review voluntarily.
