Kyla doesn’t have room in her life for romance. Too bad fate didn’t get the memo… Otherwise, it wouldn’t have thrown a gorgeous, brilliant man in her path at the worst possible time. And Blake couldn’t be any more off limits. He’s too young. He’s her friend’s ex. And the final straw, he’s her new boss, at a job she never wanted. But if he’s so wrong for her, why does he keep doing everything right? Or at least trying. Kyla never knew that a grown man epically failing to calm a screaming toddler could be so hilariously attractive. And as the new guardian of her two nieces, she’s suffered through plenty of tantrums. None of them left her laughing. But Blake adds a bright side to her dumpster fire of a life. Which might be the main reason she should stay away from him. Or at least keep him firmly confined to the friend zone. Because a hot man doesn’t belong with a hot mess … right? Upsetting the Perfect Plan is a laugh-out-loud, sweet, forbidden love, friends-to-lovers Rom Com, with a dash of crazy kid antics. It’s brimming with sizzling chemistry that culminates in passionate kisses and of course a HEA.
Bella Ricks has been living in a romantic comedy for as long as she can remember. In elementary school, she proposed to a classmate. He ran away. In high school, a bully tried to cast her as his enemies-to-lovers heroine. She declined. She took flirting lessons in college. But her tutor gave up and told her that her 'awkwardness was endearing.' Then after living abroad and losing what remained of her social skills, she met her husband. Their first kiss was a disaster. (I really was aiming for your cheek) A scheming ex tried to drive them apart but he wisely chose Bella. Now, they are enjoying their HEA, as much as they can with five tiny barbarians waking then up at all hours if the night. Her husband gets up with them as often as she does. That's just one of the reasons he's her muse.

I’m really loving this series. This book to me was so relatable.
Kyla has been given custody of her 2 nieces when her sister and brother-in-law pass away. She had to change her whole life to accommodate this change. She’s all in, but it’s hard. She just finished law school and quits her job as a DA to work at a more family friendly firm. She’s working under a senior associate Blake.
Blake met Kyla previously and has been interested in her since. He recently switched firms with the hope of a more balanced life. He’s excited to spend more time with her and hopefully even date her. His plan and hers are thrown for a loop with the addition of two cute little girls.
Most of the time when kids are a part of the picture in a romance they play a very small role. If you have kids, you know that’s not realistic. I loved how so much of this book included the girls and how they shaped the time Kyla and Blake spent together.
I also loved the authentic law firm vibes. My husband just switched to a more family friendly firm and it’s like night and day. So much of this story resonated with me. It was hilarious, swoony, with a little bit of mystery thrown in. There’s definitely some character growth, especially when you think of Blake in book 1. My favorite parts include Tiger bites, pregnant fish, and the fender bender scene. 😂 loved this one and this couple!
I love the characters in this book. Blake is a wonderful young lawyer who has worked very hard for the past five years to climb the corporate ladder. When he was passed over for a promotion and that promotion was given to the bosses nephew, he decided he wanted to change the direction his life was headed and take a less intense position with another firm. Kyla has just finished the bar exam and is hired by Blake's firm to also be an attorney. The author is witty and hilarious at times. I love her books and find myself laughing out loud! Wonderful!
What an awesome book! I can’t believe I’ve had this gem since Nov 2022 and just reading it! I couldn’t put it down!! That Maya is a character and a force to be reckoned with, to the point that she has her own website…Maya’s Mayhem! Leah was the mellow one of the two. Kyla, what can I say? Kyla is responsible, mild mannered, organized, conscientious and in love with Blake. Blake is in love with Kyla too and has always has been, almost from day one.
This was a sweet romcom story that wouldn't be the same without the hijinks off Maya. My only issue with the story is that it lacked the physical description of everyone with the exception of Blake looking like prince Eric and a few blondes thrown in, I couldn't visualize anyone which wasn't bad thanks to the laughs. Also I wished Gwen would have won the pot but when you are dealing with stubborn folks..The Ashleys won't last long...lol. Good read
Super cute romcom that will have you laughing out loud to the crazy antics of a toddler. The adults in the story are ok too. Kyla does begin to bet on your nerves with her reasons for not dating Blake, but Maya more than makes up for it. With there were more Mama Lu moments too. Don’t read too much the the vocabulary of a two year old. So go with it and enjoy the ride.
After becoming gaurdian of her 2 nieces Kyla tries to make all the right decisions for them, and falling for her younger boss isn't one of them. Even though Blake wanted to be more than friends, he became that and then some. I loved how even though he wanted more with Kyla he was always there willing to help with Leah and Maya no strings attached. This was a nice, sometimes funny, clean romance.
Looking forward to more adventures with these characters!! I’m in love w Blake (of course) devilishly handsome, smart and sweet as can be! What’s not to love!?
This book started off really strong and it absolutely kept my attention... until about 3/4 of the way through. Then it seemed to really slow down and dragged towards the near end, picking up speed again at the very end. I liked it, but not as much as the first book in the series.
I so enjoyed this book. I laughed so much reading this book. I like a slow burn but it almost too slow. But Maya made the book for me. I loved her and her IG posts. Good read.
This was hilarious and heartwarming. I liked Blake and Kyla. This was a good read. My first from this author. I wish it had a little steam, but it was good at rated G.
My only complaint would be why was there no respect giving g to "Aunt Kayla". I find it disrespectful (especially in black families that kids don't put a title to elders or family members. But I'm also glad this wasn't a porno book like most are now days....thank you!!
