To My Dad's Hot Best Friend

Rate this book
To My Dad’s Hot Best Friend, For obvious reasons, I will never send you this letter, but I have had a crush on you for years! Even though you’re what my mom calls a “man whore.” I wonder if you’re as good in bed as you claim. Yes, I’ve listened to your bragging in my father’s study during his weekly whiskey nights. I’d be willing to rate you on a scale of one to ten to let you know if you’re really all that. Though we could never tell anyone. Could you imagine the drama? But I won’t tell if you won’t. Not that you would ever give me a chance. Do you even know my name? I bet I know a way to make you remember. Anyway, you’re far too old for me and too set in your ways. Also, you seem like a real grump when you’re not bragging. Sincerely, The one girl you will never bang, Shelby Shelby, Was I supposed to read this letter? Is this a practical joke? Or did you happen to walk into the bathroom on purpose last week just to see me naked in the shower? I didn’t know your mom called me a man whore. I prefer to call myself a Ladies Man. There’s a difference, but you’re likely too young to know. I think you need to stick to college boys. You’re not ready for a man like me. Sincerely, Your Dad’s Hot Best Friend

I wanted to like this book. I didn't. This is the first book in the series that I have read. I am not good at determining POV's, but this POV didn't work for me. I didn't like Shelby. She seemed childish, shallow, and selfish. I didn't like Sam. I wondered if he felt the need to raise a child. I felt like the two of them had no chemistry. I found myself being irritated with their behavior and their conversation.

I wanted to find the humor. I didn't find it. I am not a big age gap fan, but I have read some books where the couple truly cared for each other. I didn't get that sense. I avoid new adult books. This was a struggle for me to finish. By the time I got to the part with the parents at the table, I was more than done.

I did something I don't normally do. After I finished this book, I wrote my review and went on to read other reviews. I was shocked. I obviously missed something in this book that others saw. I won't say that I would not read another book in this series. I have read this w
author's books before and enjoyed the read. I figured maybe this particular book was just not for me. I am more than willing to try another book in the series. I would recommend you read the book and judge for yourself.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Shelby has been enjoying the college experience to its fullest but as it starts to come to an end she finds herself at a crossroads uncertain of the future. She wants more than the men she has dated can offer so she redirects her attention to the man she has always been attracted to her father’s best friend Sam.

Sam has been attracted to Shelby for a while but there are so many reasons they shouldn’t be together starting with the age difference, the different places where they are in their life as well as the relationship they both share with Shelby’s father. When the chemistry between them ignites they must decide if what they share is worth fighting for.

I believe that Shelby is misunderstood as often her actions are disconnected between the woman he eventually get to know and Sam is exactly who she needs in her life as they take us on a humorous and hot ride.

To My Dad's Hot Best Friend is the seventh book in The Inappropriate Bachelors series by J. S. Cooper.

I received an ARC for an Honest Review, and I just have to say, I really enjoy all her books.

Sam is a man in his 40s and a very good friend of Shelby’s father. Shelby, 22, loves partying and has had a crush on her dad’s best friend, Sam, for years, and now she wants to experience being with an older man since guys her age are idiots.

This book was very different from the rest of the series but it was very steamy and the sexual scenes between Sam and Shelby were hot!!! I was worried about what to expect when the parents find out, OMG.

Just have to read until the end, you will enjoy the book!!

I've read a lot of books written by J.S. Cooper; she has done an excellent job at writing another good book. She is one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book. I loved the chemistry between the characters.

A tantalizing, humorous and naughty book!!
Sam and Shelby are alluring, witty and engaging characters. Their story is positively entertaining and provocative. I really enjoyed the bantering(sexy) between these two characters, it really had me smiling, laughing and hooked.

To My Dad's Hot Best Friend is the seventh book in The Inappropriate Bachelors series by J. S. Cooper. It is a well written, fast-paced older man/younger woman taboo romance with an entertaining storyline, great characters, intense attraction, amazing chemistry, sexy scenes, which all lead to love and a happily ever after.

Shelby and Sam are great characters and you'll enjoy following them in this great story. Their back and forth banter is hilarious and amusing. Their chemistry is off the charts and get things sizzling. Well written with an engaging story line and well developed characters. I really wanted to love this book. As I have enjoyed this authors other books. And I loved the premise.. younger college girl, who wants her dads sexy older friend. I love a good age-gap story. But, I just couldn’t get into this story. The main character, Shelby, annoyed me. She was so self-centered, and thought that everyone wanted her. And the way she treated, what she called her friends? Nope. And she was always saying, she’s an adult, and can live her own life to her parents, but her parents were literally still taking care of her. Overall, the story was decent, the ending was a happy one. But o would not read it again.

The storyline of this was fine, younger girl infatuated with her father’s hot best friend. Sam’s put in a tough position, he finds Shelby attractive and fun but she’s half his age and his best friends daughter. I wish Shelby hadn’t acted so childish at times, it really diminished her character.

This was an ARC from the author. The story is college girl finds her dad's best friend to be hot and sexy. Shelby is quite liberal and goes for what she wants. And she gets it. I really wanted to like this book but found it hard to like Shelby, just too immature. Sam, the hot best friend, is too conflicted. It was an entertaining read.

Shelby and Sam's chemistry may be off the charts, but she needs to grow up. She wants an older man and when she gets him, does everything, it seems, to lose him. I know the story is that she is immature, but it gets old fast. I loved the ending and all the risky scenes leading up to it. I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I generally like JS Cooper books, however, this one just wasn't my thing. I really wanted to just slap some sense into Shelby. She acted more like an ignorant 15 year old than an almost college graduate. I also can't believe Sam at 40 could/would willingly put up with her behavior.

Ehhhh?

This book was extremely hard to read.
The main character is a vapid.
She's self centered, egotistical, and just all around horrible.
I'm sorry but its hard to rout for someone or keep reading and get into a story when you're seriously hoping they fall on their face.
Sorry.
It is was just bad.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Shelby is in her final year of college and still has no idea what to do with her life. The college/frat boys look at Shelby and all they see is the popular gorgeous blonde, good for a fun time or two. After another failed hook-up, Shelby is fed up with the stereotype and the insults from the frat boys. Alone and with all her friends in committed relationships, Shelby sets her sights on her long-time crush, her dad’s best friend.

Sam is a few years younger than her dad, about 40 years old with the body and face of a GQ male model. He’s always kept his distance from Shelby out of respect for his friendship with her father. But they both possess a competitive streak.

Their relationship is a back and forth; one-up each other type competitiveness that generally ends up in the bedroom, against a wall or where-ever else they are near. They are each other’s opposite in every way but they match in every way. “I knew that this was a dangerous game for us to play, but I also knew that it would be worth it. We both needed this. And the fact that what we were doing was somewhat wrong made it even more exciting.”

Shelby wants to be loved and accepted by everyone. This may be partly due to her age and lack of self-esteem. She may portray herself to be the popular gorgeous blonde college girl, but it’s all fake. A front. Sam is the first person to see through the façade and into the vulnerability underneath. He accepts her for who she is.

Within a few short weeks their ‘with benefits’ relationship becomes much more. Shelby realizes her feelings have developed. She’s fallen for her dad’s best friend. Despite knowing it will end badly, she can’t let Sam go. Shelby is willing to risk her heart for just another moment with Sam.

Initially, I disliked the FMC because of her immaturity and how she treated everyone around her especially those closest to her. However, as I continued to read, I was able to see there was a depth to her character. Shelby is able to grow throughout the book as she realizes the extent of feelings. Shelby does come across as a little selfish and she is but she is exactly what Sam needs in a woman. He needs someone to challenge him. He needs a no-nonsense woman who will stand up to him and put him in his place. Whilst Shelby may have sought Sam out as a challenge to crush, Shelby ends up being the challenge Sam needs.

Shelby is a twenty-something student who has decided that she wants to have sex with her dad's forty-year-old friend Sam. So she gets up to various stratagems in order to seduce Sam. Lucky for her, Sam is the sort of man who lets his strings get pulled exactly the way she wants when she walks around strutting her stuff in see-through garments or attempts to make him jealous by letting him see her with other guys. He says they shouldn't do anything because her dad would kill him but of course he doesn't mean it and they do a lot of things. First they try to convince themselves that Dad doesn't need to know and they can just have some secret sex but it doesn't take long before being someone's dirty little secret starts to get old. That bit I sympathized with and I was looking forward to finding out how they sort things out with her parents.

Otherwise I had some trouble relating to the heroine and the narrator of this story, as she was so different from me, doing a lot of stuff that I never would have done. I mean, I don't want to read books about people who are exactly like me, doing the boring things that I'm doing, I'm sure that wouldn't be very interesting for anyone, but Shelby's choices had me reading in a steady state of surprise. Oh really? She did what? Oh never have I ever! Yay for sexual liberation and women who know what they want and feel free to go after it, but Shelby says or does some cringey things that do come across as a bit immature.

Steam level: This story is for readers who are fine with sexual shenanigans, including things done in public or with the risk of getting caught. Some of it is more talk than action as he calls himself an alpha male and threatens to punish her with/promises to pleasure her with some domination kink that he doesn't really deliver, not on the page anyway. For instance, he gives her a remote-controlled toy that Shelby may or may not have enjoyed but the reader doesn't find out.

I received a copy of this story from the author and this is a voluntary review.

"I think I'm about to make the biggest mistake of my life."

J.S Cooper is on of my go-to authors. I usually really like her books and often get them without reading what they are even about. I was really excited when I was picked to receive an ARC copy of this book, the last in an enjoyable series. Unfortunately it was a disappointment.

To begin with I never connected with either character. Sam was inconsistent and kept acting out of character. For someone who called himself an Alpha Male and a Ladies Man I never saw a whole lot of either. He also rarely acted like a man in his forties, despite that being a main plot point.

I could have forgiven Sam's deficiencies except for the fact that despite all of them, he was actually the better main character. Shelby pretty much was to blame for the reason I found this book average at best. She was, quite frankly, a spoiled, shallow, manipulative, dishonest, self-centered brat. Period. She was completely unlikeable and I couldn't believe for one minute than Sam or any other man would ever give a crap about her. No wonder she didn't seem to have hardly any real friends.

Although it is last in a series you do not have to have read any of the other books. There are only a couple of references to them and they don't impact the plot in any way. That being said, Jaimie has written many many other books much better than this one. If you've never read anything by her, don't start here. (My favorite is Not If You Were The Last Man On Earth from the Cupid in the City series.) Whatever you do, don't judge this wonderful author by this very average book. She's really much better than this.

I received an advance review copy of this book and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is book seven of The Inappropriate Bachelors series each book reads as a standalone, yet we will read about a bachelor sexy but with issues 😊 always the best kind and the women who render them powerless. One mistake leads to a whole new path Shelby is feisty, outgoing, has crushed on her father’s best friend and types up an email with no intention of ever sending it but of course an accident somehow the email is sent. Sam sexy as all get out best friend, in love with his daughter knowing it is wrong, knowing that he is much older than her, but he can’t help himself and when he gets the email, he can’t help but respond which starts them on a path that neither of them may not come back from. The attraction is there from the beginning it is intense, especially with the back/forth emails Shelby has no problem telling him how she fells although, at times it felt like she acted more like a teenager not a grown woman. I love this book, but her behavior bothered me maybe because I expected a college graduate to act a little older than a teenager and the tantrums, she would throw without anyone correcting her but hey it did get her what she wanted. Sam is feeling guilty about being in love with his best friends daughter so what happens when her father finds out will he be upset, will they lose a lifetime friendship, and will they get their own HEA?

I received this ebook ARC, from the author, on the condition that I write an honest review.
I must preface this review by saying that I am not a big fan of age gap romances, but I do appreciate the writing of J. S. Cooper. She did a wonderful job of writing great characters, with great descriptions of them. The story had a great flow, and was entertaining. Suffice it to say, J. S. Cooper might have changed my mind about my dislike of age gap romances, just with her writing talent.
Sam is a man in his 40’s, and a very good friend of Shelby’s father. He has been attracted to Shelby, but has hidden it well, because she is way too young for him.
Shelby is a young college student, and a bit of a party girl, but she is attracted to Sam. She wants to experience an older man. She begins to seduce him, and Sam falls into her trap. They begin a hidden relationship, which progresses to more.
During a family Anniversary party, Sam and Shelby are caught, and the truth is finally revealed. After explaining to Shelby’s parents, that their relationship has become love. Shelby’s parents accept the relationship, and the couple attain their HEA., with a beautiful ending.

When two people are condensing adults, does age make a difference? Shelby is a young adult, almost finished with college and she has something more than a crush on Sam. The problem is that Sam is not just some random guy that she can go up to and ask out or hint around to about how she feels. You see he is her dads best friend. So, not only is he older than she is but there is a complicated family relationship factor going on. Now, Shelby is pretty sure that Sam is attracted to her because there has been a time or two where she thought he might have been checking her out. However, she has never tested the theory. There is no time better than the present to find out. What will happen when Sam if faced with Shelby‘s feelings? Will he reciprocate or will he deny them. How will Shelby’s parents react if Sam and Shelby decide to engage in a relationship? Will Sam have to choose between Shelby and his best friend? This is an exciting age gap romance full of lots of lust, laughs and an ending sure to please. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Shelby, 22, loves partying and has had a crush on her dad’s best friend, Sam, for years. Sam, 40, is a handsome playboy and has secretly been interested in Shelby but will not act on his desire because of their age difference and his friendship with her dad. Shelby decides to send him a letter about her feelings, “accidentally” sends him a picture of her in a sexy dress and she plots ways to get him to notice her. Will Shelby be successful in her attempts to seduce Sam and how will her parents react when they learn about everything?

I enjoyed the story but I really found it hard to like Shelby because I found her somewhat wild and manipulative. The author did a great job developing the characters and letting their story unfold. His was not my favorite book in this series but it was still fun to read.

Fight to make the other bend to his teasing
4.5
I really liked the tone of the story carried by Shelby and the way she looks at the impossible relationship she would like to have with Sam, her father's best friend. Yet, at the same time, she has a character that is quite difficult to bear, which seems full of self-assurance bordering on disrespectful. In short, she is not very nice, and when she finds out who Sam really is, I liked that the counters reset to zero.
In fact, I think that's what I liked about this story: the two heroes only gained my empathy when they received an emotional blow from the other, each in turn in their relationship a little twisted all the same.
The story is simple, hot, but it's really the tone brought by the character that brings charm to the story.

If you looking for a well written, spicy age gap romance then you’ve found your book. J.S. Cooper has upped her game on this one. I love to get lost in a story and I found Shelby to be a funny and devious in all the best ways. She has had a serious crush on her dad’s best friend. When she decides to write an email to Sam professing all the things she would never actually say and oops she hits send instead of delete. Thinking she could laugh it off as an accident but then Sam responds. Little did Shelby realize but Sam has noticed her too. What begins as a forbidden secret turns quickly to love as they find their happily ever after. I thoroughly enjoyed this whole series and this was a stellar way to end it.

Shelby is tired of college boys and how they act. She wants something like her friend has with an older man. So, she decides to see if she can get her dad's best friend's attention. When that doesn't work, she writes an email but accidentally sent it instead of deleting it. Sparks fly between her and Sam whenever they are together. Will Sam give into temptation and claim Shelby for his own? What will her parents say about them being together?

This is a great story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. This is a book any book lover would enjoy.

Quick read but no humor. Entertaining but not captivating. I’m a tad bit conflicted with this book. I love me an age gap premise, but this missed the execution. I felt like they had very good chemistry but immaturity from both was shown through out the book. Shelby and Sam both irritated me to death and I did get tired with the “not playing games” they clearly both played. I was definitely annoyed, but it wasn’t hard to read. It was easy to follow but simply lacking substance.

This one has all the goods stuff. Taboo dads best friend, age gap, and so much sassyness and banter.
Standalone with no Cliffhangers.
Shelby wants her dad's best friend in her bed. The problem is once she gets him there she wants more.
Sam is the hot alpha male all the ladies want so why should he settle for one. Plus his best friend will kill him if he finds out who Sam is sleeping with.
Told from her point of view.
Fun sassy banter and one upsmenship make you smile in between glasses of ice water to cool down.

This book is light hearted and fun. Sam is Shelby’s dad’s hot best friend and therefore off limits. However Shelby is head over heels for him and dying to get to know him better. I did find it a bit unbelievable in that Shelby comes across as quite immature and I struggled to imagine that, with Sam being so much older than her, he would be interested in her beyond the physical. However putting that aside, the story was light hearted and fun. If you’ve read the previous books in this series, you kind of know where it’s going and I would definitely recommend.

I thought this storyline was good. J.S. Cooper brings us a sexy, sassy, self confident young woman Shelby, though a bit immature, together with her longtime much older crush Sam. This is a forbidden romance from the start as Sam is Shelby’s dad’s best friend but these two take risque to a whole new level. It’s funny and steamy scenes definitely kept me entertained.
