After their adventures in Nepal Professor Elliot Brand and the Nepalese agent, Ashra Shah wanted to enjoy their summer in London together. But when Ashra is called back into action her new mission leads to an ancient mystery that might be the greatest threat she and Elliot have ever faced.
Blending real science and fiction, this book will send you on an adventure in the world of archeology and espionage!
I read both books right after the other I really loved the characters and both story themes. There were some typos and sometimes the sentences were not written correctly but I still understood what I was reading
This was all over the place instead of delving more into the Ancients that the first book was about . We get a whole new threat that has nothing to do with the first book . I'm hoping that this series doesn't deviate anymore I started this series because I was interested in the beings from the start of this series .
A Madman Tries to Destroy the World: Exciting Non-stop Action
I was utterly amazed at how quickly I got pulled into this book! Its been awhile since I read the first book in this series but wow, now I am totally hooked. The words just flowed so smoothly and the characters gripped me too. It started out very simple with a professor talking to his students about their projects but then there was the spy Ashra....and then she is breaking into this old warehouse and finding these ancient tablets. What do they say?? The ancient mystery warns of some ancient danger that could destroy the world. And as I read farther the danger itself turned out to be something totally unexpected!!
This is just such a fun read! Action, danger, ancient stuff, spies, guns and holes in the ground and trains... Add in a madman and a few of those three letter government agencies. Plus the main characters face certain death several times. And poor Elliot is forced to face situations he really isn't suited to as he is a college professor.
I definitely will read the sequel now! Or shall I say book #3?
No fussy highbrow reading here. Just a fun pleasure trip which is perfect on a freezing cold Saturday.
Holy haunting nightmares, The Extinction Threat has to be the most frightening archeology Thriller I've ever read.
T.S. Falk has a distinctive skill in combining the academic world of archeological research with the worst myths from the Gods of the old world. Terrifying visions that feel realistic choke your breath as you rapidly turn the pages.
As my title says, don't read this at bedtime, I mean this with all sincerity. You will thank me when you reach the end. And you will, because how could you pass up a thriller like this?
Honestly, this book was really interesting and I really enjoyed the pseudo science and Sci-fi aspect of the book and especially the series. I really enjoyed the unknown reason behind a fall of an early civilization and the mystery of what it is and how our characters can stop it. I feel like this is the epitome of a good mystery that has an archaeological theme with some biology. Would recommend for an easy and fun read.
It’s not that this isn’t a good book, it is, but I got so tired of Elliot being an enormous idiot. Ashra is an expert in her field, just as he is in his own, so why he refuses to listen to her in situations he has no experience in is ridiculous. It’s mentioned several times that he’s a pacifist and refuses to use violence or actually kill anyone, but in situations where there is a great potential for violence and Ashra is clearly the one who knows the context, there Elliot is, rushing forward and screwing up the entire situation because he thinks he knows *everything*. Idk if it’s because he’s, like, twice her age or because she’s a small woman and he’s a man, but he seems to not take her or her work as seriously as he expects her to treat his. I don’t like that and it took away from the story to make such a capable woman and try and make her subordinate to a dusty academic who seems surprised when a person 20 years younger than he is, and a highly trained operative, has more strength, agility, and talent than he does when it comes to physical situations. I really hope that if Ashra comes back in the subsequent books, she tells Elliot to stfu and let her do her job. Just sit back and stop making things worse for once.
The one word above was just meant to refer to the characters and the theme of the book. The theme of the book is the hackneyed insane person who is going to release something deadly on the world to cleanse it of the virus like humans who are destroying sad world. I would say that at least one book a year is written with that premise. Finally the protagonist in the book repeatedly refuses to just shoot someone who is about to shoot him or his loved one. Having spent two tours in Vietnam I can assure you when threatened with death people do not hesitate to shoot first to remove that threat. Finally I did not like the ending. Overall the book was good enough to finish but it had a number of flaws. Not as good as book number one.
. ALL of these books today seem to start out with somebody waking up, or teaching a lecture class, or having a “pounding headache,” or having “every bone in their body” hurt, or drinking coffee, eating chili, drinking a single malt, wine, or beer, or having their feet up on the dash, dreaming, or being asleep.
And if the good guy gets shot it’s ALWAYS in the side and through and through.
Nice story. Only 4 stars because it could have been developed further. Near the end, the threat is resolved before things get out of control. What I would have loved is for things to get really out of control and turn into a world crysis. The book could have been twice as long because the story had so much development potential. In a way, it could have been on the scale of Angel & Demons had the author gone all in. It almost felt like the author didn't dare going too far. T.S. Falk, if you read me, here's my plea to you: please dare!
I am a kind of fanatic on SF since I was merely a child. The price I had for my perfect attendancy in primary school was Jules Verne 's "From the Earth to the Moon" and "Around the Moon" . As I grew up, I diversified my tastes as mysteries, spy series, archaeological novels (Kevin Tumlinson included) and a full range of authors and authoresses in SF. T.S. Falk is the newest one and I am sorry I didn't discover him sooner.

The team of Ashram and Elliott against madness of the world. What makes this work for me is that storylines are fresh, not same old archeological places and finds, different places and cultures. And a spy from Nepal, another great idea. And the love affair continues......
I've read both books in the series now, and literally read non-stop. Completely engrossing, wonderfully believable characters, tightly woven plot, and enough action to fulfill any action junkie's dreams. I have to get book 3 now! Read them. T. S. Falk is now my hero!
A civilization died out and archeologists find out why. Unfortunately unscrupulous characters try to harvest the reason to exploit another world wide pandemic. A spy is following clues and uses the archeologist knowledge to prevent the disaster.
I wish the author double checked some of his historical information and understood Pakistanis don’t speak Pakistani, they speak Urdu. But the storyline is filled with action and I really enjoy the two main characters. Looking forward to more adventures with Ashra and the professor
You must read this book. It’s Indiana Jones, James Bond, DaVinci code all in one book. The series continues and it’s hard even to put down. Can’t to read the next one immediately.
This book was riveting! I recommend the whole series of 4 books. All sci-fi readers will enjoy the real science with fiction. A real page turner. I didn’t know what expect next!
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this installment. Not to say that the first book wasn’t good, but I did enjoy this book even more. The extinction threat itself mixed with the espionage was a nice touch.
Do these books not get any kind of proofreading? The story is generic and the plot is color-by-number and predictable. The sentence structure and grammatical errors are beyond disruptive. It's all Kindle Unlimited offers anymore, though. Fifth grade reading level nonsense en masse.
Good story line but weak characters . The science behind the story has a lot of potential but was not exploited. Is there any one proofreading? I'm a scientist not a English-language major but I found lots of mistakes.
LOVE IT LOVE IT! So good! I really enjoy extinction themes with fast paced action and this book has it all and more. There are times you may guess what's gonna happen but also things that get you by total surprise. Onto the next one!
This book pulled me in from the first page with its captivating storytelling and deep themes. The characters were so well developed that I found myself emotionally invested in their journey. It's a perfect blend of heart and intellect.
