Ye Yao found out that he was in love with his friend Lu Xun.
They ate and slept together, were almost inseparable, and were each other’s best friends.
From what he has learnt over the years, Lu Xun is a straight man of steel, and because of his good looks, he is very attractive to guys with a male sexual orientation.
Whenever such a person appeared, Lu Xun would cut them off without a second thought. Even if he was a good friend before, he would still blackball them without any hesitation, keeping them completely out of his world.
To preserve this friendship, Ye Yao minimised the time he spent with Lu Xun, a relationship that should not have been discovered.
Lu Xun wanted to travel alone with him, but he refused.
Lu Xun wanted to take a bath with him, but he refused.
Lu Xun wants to sleep with him, but he still refuses.
……
Ye Yao managed to reduce his contact with Lu Xun, but one day, when he was alone at home, he was blocked by Lu Xun.
The man who was always cheerful and sunny to him now had a horrible dark face and pinned him against the wall.
“Hiding from me?” Lu Xun laughed coldly, “If you can’t give a proper reason …… you can’t blame me for following you every minute of every day.”
Ye Yao confesses in part.
He tells Lu Xun that he likes men, but does not say that he likes Lu Xun.
Lu Xun, who shunned homosexuality like a snake, gave him exceptional treatment.
Not only does he not stay away from him, he takes him to the movies and tries to straighten him out.
“What’s so great about smelly, hard men, it’s disgusting.” Lu Xun put his arm around Ye Yao’s shoulders and pointed at the man working hard on the computer screen with one hand, saying to Ye Yao, “It’s hard and smelly, let’s not like men anymore, okay?”
Ye Yao was silent for a moment: “You’re right about everything, but …… I’m the one down there.”
Lu Xun was stunned, and then fled.
Ye Yao thought his friendship with Lu Xun would end here, but at one of the social events, in the darkness, he was wrapped up in a familiar embrace.
The usually casual voice was now full of anger: “How dare you let another man touch you?”
**
Ye Yao finally understood.
Lu Xun, who was straight, had become gay without Lu Xun knowing it himself.
This was a quick, fun read. There’s not much of a plot, and it sort of reads like a Wattpad story, but it’s still really entertaining. The ML is one of the dumbest and clingiest gongs I’ve ever come across, and he’s jealous of everyone. This guy acts like the world will end if the MC so much as thinks about getting a girlfriend. Just seeing the MC hang out with someone else sends him into full-blown panic mode. LMAO. He’s so over-the-top that it’s funny.
Hi, Hello I’m back! After some time I finally managed to finish this! It started off so nice actually! What made me bored was towards the end ngl…
Well… it’s about Lu Xun and Ye Yao. Lu Xun is described as homophobic but was definitely the gayest one there LMAO next we have Ye Yao who’s the love interest! Ye Yao is in love with Lu Xun but Lu Xun is completely oblivious! But as time passes Lu Xun starts to get jealous of Ye Yao and excepts that he had feelings for him all along!
It was a nice short story about childhood friends finding love!!!
The first few chapters were great, but when I reached 50%, I got bored. It’s a friends-to-lovers story with some tension, but the plot development just didn’t work for me.
— shou is closeted and is secretly in love with his best friend but does the absolute most to keep it hidden bc gong is known for being a homophobe who somehow acts gayer than the actual gay dude himself — shou keeps holding back while gong clings to him like he’s already his... the way gong is so oblivious to his own feelings made me want to scream into a pillow — gong absolutely has no clue he's in love while acting like a possessive boyfriend, it's infuriating — the shift when gong starts chasing is everything tho — once he falls, he falls hard — perfect if you're into best friends who are already halfway in love, emotionally constipated idiots, doting gong, and that moment when the chaser becomes the chased
I liked reading most of the book. I also liked the two main characters. However, I feel like the pacing was super off. The beginning was incredibly slow and repetitive plot-wise, and the ending was too fast. Also, the extras were cute, but I feel like there were too many of them. They took up a third of the book. There were also a few sentences and words that made me a bit uncomfortable, but I’m not sure if it’s just the translation. All in all, the book was okay and the main characters were only frustrating sometimes, but I feel like it could have been more plot-wise.
2.37* Felt super heteronormative(I’m used to a lot of Chinese media being so, but this story felt more obvious). Guess it comes with the originally homophobic man, but it was more so the whole story’s vibes being really straight. Which isn’t the goal for a queer piece of fiction. Kind of boring as well, but I finished since it’s short. Didn’t feel like reading the extras
When I first began this I came to the conclusion that there was no way this man was straight and I was right lmao. The summary doesn’t lie when it mentions that LX had become gay without them even noticing lmao. This was actually hidden angst, I shouldn’t have been surprised since this is friends to lovers though. I liked how they both accepted their sexuality, and how their parents didn’t question it.
LX is kinda yandere, not to the extreme, but it’s there. It presents itself when YY falls asleep and this is where his emotions are let loose. He just watches YY sleep. LX is always trying to control his anger around YY, always trying to control his expressions and actions. LX has a desire to monopolize YY, but what he wants the most is for YY to be happy, so he’ll never go as far as hurting YY. This all gets somewhat resolved when YY notices his abnormal behavior, and they communicate their feelings. Bc realistically it’s a very scary thing, and shouldn’t be present in a healthy relationship. This doesn’t and won’t get solved right away, but I liked how they communicated.
