Reflections: 9 Stories/11 Poems

Rate this book
September 11, 2001 started out for most of the world as an ordinary day. In New York City, it was Indian summer, and it was a particularly nice day. Beautiful weather, and not a cloud in the sky. By 9:00 a.m. EST, the world as we knew it changed forever. Three thousand people lost their lives on 9/11. Countless others dedicated their time and energy to the cleanup and rebuilding efforts, making sure New York City remained resilient. Others went to war in the aftermath, letting the world know the United States would not stand for such an atrocity. Many did not make it back.

This book is a compilation of the stories and poems of ordinary people who were getting on with their lives much as they had done the day before. But like so many others throughout the United States and the rest of the world, September 11, 2001 was an extraordinary day that changed their lives and will never be forgotten.

Paul Kowalski is one of those people. He worked in the WTC-1 building with about two thousand other people when the tower was struck and was fortunate enough to make it out and home safely. Several years later, he wrote out the story of that day so as to not forget the details when time passed. He showed the story to no one for several more years. Finally, he shared it with a few close friends, a few of whom suggested it should be published. Then the idea came to go for something larger in scale…a compilation of stories and poems and a target release of the 20th anniversary of that fateful day. Paul has spent his career in management roles in the health insurance industry. This is his first book.
