It is an ok book if your knowledge of the history of biblical manuscripts, translations, and church history is weak. It give simple overviews. The photos are great. It is more like a coffee table book and not in-depth.
Not terribly detailed on what all the Biblical fathers went through to preserve God's word. But a very solid overview big picture of how the Bible came to be. Many cool pics of old bibles includdd.
This book was fine, but I was looking at multiple ones of this nature and wasn't drawn into this one. I think if I had come across it first then I may have liked it. But the one by Neil R. Lightfoot was more my personal style.
Wanted a book informing me of what books were written when and how we know, etc., and instead got a nice tour of all of the old manuscripts that exist and how they've been translated through the ages, etc. Informative but not what I was looking for.
This book was not only cursory, but it also needed some serious editing and indexing and reorganization. Good for someone who doesn't really know that the Bible wasn't originally written in English. For everyone else, it will seem a tad bit superficial and at times inaccurate.
Good introduction for any learner. For those who are looking for a brief but grounded starting place for Scriptural integrity and development, this book is a must. A lot of good illustrations, and very informative. Historic with helpful graphs, charts, and illustrations.
A good introduction to the history of the bible. It has a lot of pictures of ancient texts of the scriptures and describes how the Holy Scriptures have come through the ages to modern times.
