Betrayal is the exciting conclusion to the As We Know It series.
The survivors at Whitaker Estate are still reeling from the vicious attack on their community, which left three of their friends dead.
When the mysterious newcomer Alaina Renato reveals there is a traitor in their midst, it threatens to tear the community apart. Is there truly a traitor, or is Alaina playing them all?
Dillon Mitchell and the other Commission members realize their group might not survive another attack, especially if there is someone working against them from the inside. Despite the potential risk, they vote to attend a summit that will bring together other survivors from around the country.
When the groups converge on Las Vegas, the festive atmosphere soon turns somber upon the discovery of an ominous threat. But is the danger coming from within, or is there someone else lurking in the city?
Before it’s too late, they must race against time to determine where the betrayal is coming from.
Rita Potter has spent most of her life trying to figure out what makes people tick. To that end, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and an MA in Sociology. Her favorite pastime is crawling around inside peoples’ brains. Her loved ones are grateful that she now has characters whose minds she can explore, so maybe she’ll stay out of theirs.
Rita’s writing reflects her belief that in some way we are all damaged and must conquer our demons in order to create a fulfilling life. Being an eternal optimist, she maintains that the human spirit is remarkably resilient and can overcome even the most challenging obstacles. That optimism is the wellspring of her life goal- to provide encouragement and support to help people thrive.
In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors. She is especially drawn to the water, which is ironic since she lives in the middle of a corn field. Her first love has always been reading, which has spurred her writing. She rides a Harley Davidson and has an unnatural obsession with fantasy football. More than anything she detests small talk, but can ramble on for hours given a topic that interests her.
She lives in a small town in Illinois with her wife, Terra, and their cat, Chumley, who actually runs the household.
Rita is a member of American Mensa and the Golden Crown Literary Society. She is currently a student of the GCLS Writing Academy 2021.
A brilliant ending to this dystopian trilogy! I don't know what it is about this author's books, but I just can't seem to put them down!
In this finale, my favourite MC Dillon leads a group to Las Vegas on the hunt for allies. A number of other colonies get together to discuss their future, and the relationships that they have is lovely (eg Caleb and Gus, and the excitement of meeting Dillon). While meetings seem to go well, there's a few hidden dangers to contend with; a traitor in the midst, the religious group that follows Braxton Babcock, and also an unknown 'colony' hidden deep inside Vegas. Twists, turns, friendship, love, and action all in one, and the perfect ending! Highly enjoyed this whole series.

This third book in Rita Potter‘s apocalypse series is definitely one of those I waited to most for. At the end of book two we knew (or at least suspected) someone in the group betrayed everyone. We can’t be sure of course at first because what is sure in this whole new world. Can the new group member Alaina really be trusted with this new disclosure? Or did she make up everything by herself?
Just one thing is really sure, they can’t stay where they are because of this religious group that is a huge risk for them. They need to find allies to form a stronger to protect themselves. All of this leads a part of the group on a trip to Vegas to meet up with the groups they connected online. Of course leaving their bubble is a risk too and the danger travels with them. I mean it would be boring otherwise. Lol
In a world where no law exists anymore Dillon as their group leader tries together with the others to save what they have. I really struggled to put the book down because I wanted to know, who is behind all of this and of course what their future brings. I definitely got surprised more than once and I mean that in the most positive way. ☺️
For me this whole book was a coming home to characters I developed a soft spot in my heart. First of all Dillon and Skylar. I loved how their relationship progressed in this new world and how they tackled their problems. Then Cynthia, since the first book she played a very important role in the whole group. So far she was still looking for her place, so it made me even happier that she finally finds it in this story.
There are several other characters I was happy to see again like CJ and Karen. Especially CJ‘s friendship to Dillon and the way they interacted made me smile a lot. Then Leslie a character who grieved for a long time after losing her partner in book one. I loved her progress so very much and what happened with her.
Really there are so many things I could point out. What matters the most in the end to me is that I have never read an apocalypse book before I started this series. Rita not only got me to read it. No, she also got me to adore these books and pester her about the next book. I can’t even describe how much I love that. When I got to the end I was sad to let them go. I mean it’s possible one day there will be more of course, but right now this is it.
For me it’s brilliant what Rita did and I can’t recommend this series enough. Not only to readers who read these kind of books, but also to everyone else (like me ☺️).

The third and final book in the As We know It series and I was very intrigued to see how this series would end. Not only because of everything that has happened, but Rita Potter is really good at writing endings based on the two other books. It was a little underwhelming from the expectations built from the other two books, but I did end up enjoying it especially the very end.
This final entry in the As We Know It series had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Picking up where book 2 ended, the members of the Whitaker community are working to figure out who could be a traitor within their small group, or is the newcomer, Alaina, not what/who she appears to be? Playing detective along with the characters was engaging. The story also deals with what it means to truly be a leader, and how trauma affects us all differently. I think what I enjoyed the most was the sense of choosing your own family/community in the wake of tragedy and building something beautiful. Group dynamics are fascinating and watching the various characters find their place in this new society is a big part of what drew me to this series. If you enjoy apocalyptic stories, then be sure to check out this series. You won’t regret it!
4.75 stars! I am so sad this series has come to an end but what a fun ride! The characters, the action, the suspense and mystery I just did not want it to end!
This picks up right where book 2 ends and the group is trying to figure out who the traitor is. Throughout the whole book I was trying to figure it out with them and I was truly stumped. I also really loved getting to read from different povs again and seeing the characters develop even more.
Overall, this series was such a fun read! I really wish there were more books so I could stay in this little universe and see what happens to this group in the future.
Wrapped everything up nicely. A few new groups were found, which turns out to be a good thing because they help out with the religious fanatics that everyone is concerned about. The one problem I had with this one, as well as book two, was that they didn't show were the chapters ended and the next began. I would have to scroll through on my Kindle to find out what page number each chapter ended on.
This was an exciting conclusion to the trilogy. Lots of drama, scary moments, and love and friendship, too. The trip to Vegas was engrossing, with lots of new people and allies, as well as the foes hinted at previously. I’m just sorry I won’t be reading more about these women and their allies. If you're a fan of post-apocalypse fiction and romance, this series may be just want you need.
This has been amazing. All three books are very well written, great characters' development and fascinating plot. It delt very real, especially the fact no one actually figured out what started it all. I wish I knew but I understand why it makes sense that they didn't. Now I want more books about their new world and all teh future couples and kids.
Love how they all came together traveling to Vegas how all teams got together how Willa figured out the mole people. How the Army pulled the one guy who was an ass. Just a great ending beginning
I loved the day the author brought everything together. I had my suspicions but was proven wrong. A phenomenal job keeping me guessing throughout the book. Excellent job!!!!!
Appropriately titled, Betrayal is the best of the three book As We Know It, trilogy. The story is multilayered and compelling, not to mention down-right edge-of-your-seat interesting. You can’t help but root for the main characters and their friends. I’m a big fan of dystopian fiction and Betrayal is right up there at the top of my list.
