About the author

Linda Stone never set out to be an author. The idea for her first book, Bubbles' Troubles, came to her in a dream, and once the words started flowing, the story of her sassy rescue Shih-tzu, Bubbles, poured out in less than an hour. Linda was 64 years old at the time, and now hopes to inspire others that it's never too late to learn something new. Working with first-time children's book illustrator Matthew Smith, Linda brought Bubbles' story of shelter adoption and belonging to life.

What began as a one-time project soon grew into a series. Teddy's Spaghetti followed, inspired by Bubbles' brother, Teddy, adopted from a shelter in Mishawaka, Indiana, and Home is the Very Best Place to Be rounded out the trio with a story written especially for preschool-aged children. Each book in the Bubbles and Teddy series is grounded in real life: real dogs, real shelters, and a real, ongoing lesson in kindness, compassion, and respect for animals.

Linda believes that when children learn to treat animals with empathy, they carry those same values into how they treat people, and that belief is the heart of everything she writes.

When she's not writing, Linda runs a flower shop by appointment, bakes and decorates custom cakes and cookies, and spends her time crocheting, gardening, working on jigsaw puzzles, and walking the shores of Lake Michigan. She lives in a remodeled version of the New Buffalo, Michigan home she grew up in.

Linda hopes readers of all ages will become a part of Bubbles and Teddy's mission to help spread kindness and compassion to both animals and humans. Those things were never meant to be optional.
