Is it possible for a renewed friendship to lead to more?
Dylan’s life changed for the worse back in middle school. Because of that, he ghosted his best friend, Brett, out of fear and embarrassment. Now, as things finally come together for him, he’s more concerned with earning a place back in Brett’s life than he is about finding the Daddy his friends think he needs. What’s an Understanding Daddy, anyway?
Brett feels like he’s been waiting a lifetime to find out why his childhood bestie walked away from him. The more time they spend together, the clearer it becomes that he doesn’t have to understand what happened. All that matters is now.
As Brett’s feelings morph into something brand new, something special, will Dylan believe that he’d truly like to be his Daddy or will he let the past hinder what should have always been?
Welcome to another heartwarming story from The Tap Tavern where the Daddies are helping this chosen family of boys discover how beautiful they are.
* This book contains references to past childhood abuse. If this is a trigger, please put your emotional and mental health first.
Sammi Cee was raised in a family of readers. Summer vacations consisted of a good book while sitting lakeside from as far back as she could remember. After growing up and having her own children, her appreciation of how the written word could transport you on an adventure, bring you to tears, or give you hope, took on a whole new meaning.
These days Sammi is watching her children develop into fine young ladies while doing the things she enjoys most: drinking coffee, eating chocolate, and writing her own stories.
Wtf happened I was invested in their story. It was written well and suddenly when Brett realised that he wanted to be Declan's daddy. It was the end?? Are there more chapters or second sequel? Wtfffffff!!!!
This was such a cute story of two former best friends reconnecting in a whole new way. This books takes place over the span of several months and packs a lot into the timeframe. We meet Brett and Dylan as they are basically ignoring each other and their past. Then they finally start talking and reconnecting. It was nice to see the evolution of their relationship.
Reading about Dylan’s past was so sad. Not only what he was actually going through, but reading about his isolation was also heartbreaking. I was happy when he finally gave Brett the answers he had been looking for for years. Brett was understanding and patient with Dylan. Even though he was new to the Daddy scene, he really took the time to research and be sure.
I really loved how Brett and Dylan tailored their Daddy/Boy relationship to meet their needs. These types of relationships are what you make of them, not what everyone else expects them to be.
This was a super cute addition to the series and I can’t wait for Archie’s story, but I am really looking forward to Levi’s HEA.
This is the third book in the Love on Tap: Fragile Hearts series and enjoyable as a standalone. The audiobook is narrated by Shawn K. Jain, the same actor as the previous two books, and I finally enjoyed it as an audiobook. The first two books had lots of weird hitches and pauses in the acting that threw off my concentration, but the narrator has seemed to catch his stride in this book. Dylan and Brett are the same age, so we don’t have a lot of pitch or voice differentiation, but I still felt like I could follow which character was telling the story without difficulty.
It’s a sweet romance that has a good amount of hurt/comfort for Dylan from his friends and his eventual Daddy, Brett.
Wanted: Understanding Daddy is the third book in the Love on Tap: Fragile Hearts series by Sammi Cee. This book is about Brett and Dylan. I really liked their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written.
These are sweet, short little stories, (less than 200 pages), that don't have much, if any angst, I have really liked this this series. All of the boys work at the Tavern and are all very good friends. One day, one of the boys offered to help one of his friends find a "Daddy" by making and hanging a sign describing what type of Daddy was needed, in the tavern. So far two of his friends have found their "Daddy" and now it's Dylan's turn.
Dylan had been abused by his mother's boyfriend/husband. His mother didn't believe him, and it turned his entire view of his self-worth on its head. He was in middle school and had a best friend, Brett who he ghosted because he felt Brett wouldn't want to be friends with him any longer.
When the story opens, we find that Dylan is on the path to going to Nurse's School, and while walking his golden retriever, he runs into Brett who he hadn't seen in years, but still had feelings for....and Brett returned those feelings in spades. Brett was the embodiment of understanding when Dylan explained why he had ghosted him. He was so sweet and gentle with Dylan...never pushy or demanding, allowing Dylan to do things and make discissions in his own way and time. It strengthened their relationship. Dylan wanted and needed a Daddy, and Brett wanted and need to be one...to 'take care" of someone... and Dylan was that "someone" for him. Dylan finally had genuine friends and a found family to offer him the support and love he so badly wanted and needed.
Seeing everyone come together is always one of my favorite parts of this series. Fellow worker and friend, Cameron, protects all the boys, Christian, the Tavern owner and the boy's employer, provides a warm, and welcoming place for them to feel safe, Levi, the bartender watches out for problems on the floor...and they all look out for each other. Wouldn't it be nice if there were indeed places and people like this everywhere?
Dylan and Brett were childhood best friends, but Dylan ghosted Brett when his mother married an abusive man. They meet again at The Tap Tavern where Dylan is working as a waiter. Brett now works was a personal trainer. There was a lot of build up before they finally stated talking. The character background was helpful to understand what had happened in the past. This was sweet and heartwarming. Dylan needed someone who would understand him, and Brett was the perfect Daddy for him. Overall, a great read. Well written with fantastic pacing that sucked me into the story.
This is a lovely second chance for childhood best friends, Dylan and Brett, to reconnect and possibly work to become more. Dylan's Wanted: sign is for an understanding daddy, someone who can look past his walls, built up from his painful teenage years, to the kindhearted man he is. Brett saw that in Dylan when they were kids and now wants the chance to get there again. It's definitely a slow burner as they take tentative steps towards repairing the friendship before there are even thoughts of anything more. When that does come up, it's the sweetest moment between them, with a little help from Daisy, the most adorably loveable golden retriever who is of course the star of the show. Brett is completely endearing in his need to look out for and care for Dylan, even before they get their friendship back on track There's also both men's friends, such a wonderfully supportive and fun group of people. The boys from The Tap Tavern all look out for Dylan, especially once he opens up about his history, and then Brett and his best friend, Anthony, are funny, constantly bantering together. Marcus and Fisher also make an appearance (from the Takoda Outreach Centre) doing what they do best, looking out for and helping those in need. Another great story in the Wanted: series and so happy for Dylan getting his HEA. Now to look forward to Archie's story and finding out who his daddy will be. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
Wow! A second-chance/childhood best friends to lovers story I actually adored. These are actually some of my most disliked tropes. However, what Sammi did here was simply exquisite. She developed these complex characters, yet a love story so refreshing and pure. Dylan’s the prickly, anti-social and moody one of the group. No one thought he would really be open to finding someone, let alone succeed. However, the reintroduction of Bryce into his life was perfect. Shit hit the fan back in middle school for D, leading him to ghosting B. We get a proper and mature conversation about what happened. Yet, more importantly, B doesn’t make him feel guilty. He simply embraces him and lives him. I do wish we would of had more of his family reacting to D’s return, but oh well.
Dylan’s personal growth and respect for himself were incredible. Also, seeing him gain some independence in a safe environment and learn to trust that his friends truly love him was so sweet. Once more, the cast of characters was adorable and sassy and oh so wonderful. I’m not ready to say goodbye to these boys any time soon.
On another note, seeing the journey of Bryce figuring out he was a Daddy was adorable. He’s simply so full of love and care, that to finally see him be appreciated was great. I simply adored these two.
Dylan's life changed for the worse in middle school and feeling fear and embarrassment at that time he ghosted his best friend Brett. His friends think he needs to find himself an Understanding Daddy but he is far more concerned with earning a place back in Brett's life. Brett has been waiting a lifetime to find out why his childhood best friend walked away from him but as they spend time together it becomes clear to him that the past is not as important as what happens now. As Brett's feelings morph will Dylan believe that he would genuinely like to be his Daddy or will the past stop something that should have always been meant to be?
I enjoyed this story with the reconnection of the old best friends, the way they started from a shared history and shared love and respect for each other, and the fact that they both wanted to have a connection in the future. Brett was definitely a natural Daddy and when he understood the reasons for the disconnect in the past he immediately understood and forgave. Easy to read, feel and understand. This MM story contains mature content and a BSDM-like DDLB relationship. There is mention of past childhood abuse.
This series without fail brings a big smile to my face!
I adore this series and Dylan and Brett’s story was another fantastic addition to an already awesome series. Brett really was the embodiment of understanding - I loved how sweet and gentle he was with Dylan. There wasn’t any pushing or demanding; he allowed Dylan to do things on his own time and it made their relationship so strong. Poor Dylan, I had a bad feeling that his background would be heartbreaking but when we found out exactly what happened I was so glad that he had genuine friends and found family to offer him support and love. Seeing everyone come together is always one of my favourite parts of this series. The way Cameron protects all the boys, Christian provides such a warm, welcoming place to feel safe, Levi watched out for problems on the floor - they all look out for each other. I can’t wait for the next book and to see these guys again!
This was a very stereotypical Sammi Cee book. She has a great job of introducing these characters and giving a lot of lead up but as soon as the characters are in a relationship she does this big time jump and you don't get any of the details. So this is a middle of the road for me. It is a ex-best friend's to friends to lovers and could have been super great if it wasn't rushed.
Dylan has wanted a Daddy who understands him not someone who is judgmental. There’s only been one person is his life that has truly understood Dylan and that’s Brett. When things go hair wire and Dylan and Brett’s relationship ended in high school both boys suffered. Years later they finally reconnect and when bullies come into the Tavern and get into Dylan’s face, Brett is right there protecting him. Dylan realizes it’s finally time to tell Brett what happened all those years ago. Can we say understanding Daddy? Yes we can and Daddy Brett vows to never let Dylan go. I think we all need an understanding daddy. Whether it’s a found daddy, a biological daddy, or a Daddy who’s wants a loving relationship with his boy or girl. (Daddy/boy or Daddy/girl) I’m glad that Dylan found his Daddy and became the boy he was always meant to be. 5 stars ⭐️💜
I greatly enjoyed the connection back to the Takoda Outreach Family. Dylan’s story was as sweet and heartfelt as we expect from this series. Each book makes you feel good about the possibilities that may come in life. The Tap Room Family continues to grow and just get better. I highly recommend this series, and the Takoda Outreach series, to just enjoy and feel good. These characters are fun and inspiring.
I have been reading about the Takoda Family Outreach off and on for a while, and I have always enjoyed them. This book was another sweet story and made me wish there were people like in the book. Loved Brett and Dylan's character and enjoyed all the other characters also. Definitely recommend this series and the Takoda series.
I’ve been wanting to know more about Dylan. I’m so glad we got his story. Bret is amazing. I love how they were able to reconnect. And isn’t Daisy adorable? I liked Bret’s friends Anthony and Belinda too. Now I can’t wait for Archie’s story.
Well written story and well developed characters! The Wanted Daddy sign strikes again! This one is about Dylan. He is grumpy, lonely, and keeps to himself. How will they ever find him a Daddy that fits?!?
Dylan and Brett find what they need, after all these years. The Tap Tavern, an LGBTQ and Daddy/boy safe place to be. Dylan, 26, 5'11", jet black longish hair, brown eyes, lean and muscled. He's a nursing student, working at The tap. He was friends with Brett in high school, but disappeared after that, without telling Brett why. Brett, 26, 5'8", dirty blonde hair, green eyes, muscled and strong, but has a soft side, loves flowers, too. He's a Personal Trainer at the Elite Fitness center, has a golden Retrieved, Daisy, who has blue eyes, and is energetic. He's missed Dylan for years.
The two meet up, and Dylan is ashamed to tell Brett why he ghosted him. Brett is not letting him off the hook, he wants to know, he has always loved Dylan, and is sure Dylan loved him.
We see their interactions, the walks with Daisy, and talks. Dylan's sad tale is finally revealed, and Brett holds him and never wants to let go. They become closer, and rekindle that friendship and more. Their sexy times are super scorching, and Brett finds out there is a want ad for Dylan on the board. This is a tender tale of second chances and old feelings reignited.
We get marvelous characters and an HEA. There are more men who need a "wanted" poster. ENJOY !
Sometimes, you have to ask for what you want. Dylan and Brett had history from high school. Brett's best friend, Anthony encouraged him to reach out to Dylan. Dylan, the waiter avoided serving Dylan as oftern as he could. Brett and Anthony, were personal trainers at Elite Fitness. Dylan and Brett, used to be best friends. Then Dylan disappeared with no notice, no explanation and no follow-up. It was also, Dylan's turn to have his request on the board for an "Understanding Daddy". The supporting characters in the story were delightful, I liked Nelson and Jerry, the Florists the best I think. Anthony, encouraged Brett to explore his nature of caregiver. Dylan had to decide to take a chance to come out of his shell. There are a lot of self assessment, self revelations and just owning personal truths. This is a very sweet story. All of the Found family seem to more intriguing the more want to know them. Great group of guys. Well done!
- an MM romance! childhood friends to lovers, daddy k!nk, found family trope! - i was sad for like the first 60 pages of this book - Dylan’s background is so heart breaking - glad Brett’s figuring out his worth! - obsessed with Daisy🥹 - Brett standing up for Dylan!! love that that’s how everything kickstarted - hahahha absolutely love how Cameron tricked Brett into that 😂 - really good sex scenes!! - no third act break up besties x - i think Dylan’s character development was amazing - so proud of Dylan for getting into the nursing programme!! he deserved all the amazing things - what i really would of liked is a scene with Brett’s parents reuniting with Dylan🥺 that would of been so lovely to read - did love the epilogue!! so ready for Archie!! - these are just fun, sweet little stories that are more fluff! i do wish they were longer tho like i feel like they could have another 100 pages
This book was sweet for sure. Dylan's back story was horrible and sad and honestly was what kept me in the book. It was fun to see the other characters we already knew. I think what made this book fine, and not good, was the fact the author kept telling us about how important these two MCs were to each other growing up, but we never saw any of that. So, to have them be at a certain place in their relationship so fast left me lagging behind. It's not that I didn't believe it, just that I didn't feel it. Which left me looking in from the outside instead of right there with them. It's a cute story, so worth the read, but short and lacking depth. Which may have been the author's point. Not all books need in-depth MCs.
Love this series Dylan and Brett had been best friends as children but then Dylan's mum married and moved away. Life changed for Dylan and he became a shell of his former self, totally ghosting his best friend was the only way he could protect himself. 15 years later they meet up at The Tap. Dylan working and being at school getting his grades for nursing school. Brett being a fitness instructor. Dylan stayed away from Brett not knowing how to explain his past. But Brett was there for Dylan when there was trouble in the bar. Their friendship grew over time with the help of Brett's dog Daisy. When Cameron mentioned finding Dylan an understanding daddy , Brett worried that he would no longer be the one who Dylan turned to. Brilliant sweet story of second chances, and finding your soul mate
I loved this story. It was just what I needed to read at the time. Dylan and Brett were super cute together.
Dylan's backstory was heartbreaking; I could understand his will to stand on his own after everything. I was glad though that Dylan took the help offered by his friends; I loved it when he started to realize he had a great found family and let them in. I was even happier that Brett was there at the right time and place to help Dylan out and that Dylan took that opportunity to eventually clear the air. It's clear how much Brett and Dylan both hurt after losing their original friendship, but their second chance was perfect. I loved how they got to know each other again and how that moved into a new phase for them so easily.
A second chance, best friends, super sweet Daddy romance with all the feels and feel goods, sign me up for more. “‘I don’t think I’ve needed to be saved from myself. I think I was just being saved for you.’” Gah, heart eyes galore. Brett and Dylan are the fluffiest and I adore them. I also adore Daisy, but who wouldn’t. From Dylan’s heartbreaking past, Brett’s understanding and caring ways, to to their precious love, this book hit me in the heart and I love every part of it. The amazing Takoda family and this heartwarming series puts the biggest smile on my face and fills me up with warmth.
It was okay but it read more like one episode of a television series with an overarching season and plot. This book ended in a cliff hanger I'm guessing wraps up in the next book, with him ruminating over the Daddy his Boy is about to get. And I got there like "what?" other reviewers are correct that there isn't much development between the two.
They have a past childhood friendship, a little in book meeting, six months pass, and then, nearly at the end of the book, they start to sculpt a friendship over two weeks we see a couple days of and then it leaves off on the cliffhanger. Again, PERFECT for a single episode of a tv show inside an entire season--not so perfect for a book.
I'm so enjoying this series. Super sweet guys at the Tap Tavern...one by one are getting their Daddies. Now learning Dylan's story and his issues, an understanding Daddy is just what he needed. His second chance with Brett ultimately gave them both what they needed and much more. I loved how they got to know each other without unnecessary drama...truths were given...trust, care and love led to a wonderful HEA...next on Tap is Archie...can't wait!!!!!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This was a wonderful book. I really enjoyed Brett and Dylan together. These two were best friends at one point but Dylan pushed Brett away. When Dylan and Brett finally start to talk and work through their past together, these two realize that they are perfect together even though there is some drama on their way to an HEA. I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received a free e-book copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is the third novel in this series and I loved it. Dylan has always been such an elusive character to me and I was so ready for his story. Learning of his background and all that he had been through to make him the way he was was so sand and heartbreaking. Brett was the perfect Daddy for Dylan. He was so patient and understanding and didn't hold a grudge against Dylan for shutting him out. I loved watching their relationship grow into what it became. This book kept my attention from beginning to end. I loved it and I can't wait to see what happens with Archie.
Brett isn't happy with his dating history, he's always picking the wrong guy who doesn't appreciate how nurturing and caring he is. His friend suggests he answer the daddy ad posted at their favorite restaurant. Brett doesn't know that his old friend Dylan is the boy searching for an Understanding Daddy. Brett and Dylan are old friends, whose paths cross again now that they are mid-twenties but their past fall-out is still lingering between them.
I didn't love this. This is my first book by this author so I'll try another just to give it another shot.
Childhood friends turned strangers reconnect as adults and discover they still have everything in common, and there really isn’t anyone better suited for either of them than each other!
Really emotional, and reading about the trauma from Dylan’s past was really painful, but Brett was so amazing to him; everything Brett does is to ensure Dylan feels safe and comfortable and I really enjoyed that. That he’s a man who loves flowers and buys flowers every week was also really cute - not to mention the dog!!! 🥰
What a hope filled story! I loved that Dylan had pulled himself up and was working on his life, but I loved more that Brett knew how to support and take care of him, and that he wanted to! Two successful men were better together, and that made the story. The fact that Dylan endured abuse, and still found a good life was handled well, I thought, and just made me root for him more. Plus a great HEA, and a peek forward to the next book!
