AMAZING book and a beautiful tale of what it means to be a father. However, the fact that a certain PIVOTAL plot point is left out of this run is insanely frustrating and confusing. Especially if you had no prior knowledge.

Briskly paced, action packed, and full of heart but some of the zany plots didn't thrill me as much as other recent Batman runs. The story was largely propelled by interpersonal drama between Damian, Bruce, and the rest of the bat family which was emotionally satisfying although pretty conventional (especially for a Batman story). This character drama served as motivation for a series over the top conflicts which were quite entertaining and page turning but often not as high concept or as creatively explored as in the preceding Morrison run. I did quite enjoy the more grounded storylines especially the Two Face plot which probably has my favorite rendition of his backstory. Some plot points were also too silly for my liking like the involvement of the dog Titus in the fight against Darkseid (although if I'm being honest I'm probably just mad it wasn't Batcow). The art however was thoroughly pleasing with detailed pen & inks and even though I'm not a fan of heavy digital gradient shading the color work was nice. The panelling was dynamic and evocative and combined with the brisk pace it made for a really engaging read.

Damian will forever be my favourite DC character. The Relationship between Bruce and Damian was so heartwarming and it was amazing the to see the lengths he would go to get his son back. The emotional range that Batman displayed throughout was a breath of fresh air, especially the anger and grief he felt losing his son and the isolation he felt when trying to get him back despite the backlash from his family and the Justice League. Top Tier DC Story Telling!

Some top tier Batman story telling here. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about the book essentially just being random Batman stories that include Damian, but by the end I quite enjoyed it. Seeing the arc Damian takes over the years of stories, it was enjoyable and of course Batman and the whole bat family rock

Had a little extra time on my hands after finishing Morrison’s Batman and breezed through this tome. Just a great Batman book. Something for everyone. My favorite Tomasi work and Gleason just knocks it out of the park again and again with so few fill-in artists. Unheard of even ten years later. Truly a champion.

This is not only the absolute best of the New 53 Batman I’ve read, but one of the best Batman runs I’ve ever read, period.
