The Faces of Saint

Rate this book
She fought to save the world until someone wanted her dead.

A well-executed, deliberate escape.
Alone for forty days on the ocean.
Calling out over the radio night after night.
Until…an unfamiliar voice answers.
Her escape was planned. Everything about her life was planned…except for him.

Jenna, a young virologist with Asperger's, discovers a deadly secret. On the run from the biotech lab where she has built her life's work, Jenna is forced to leave behind everyone she loves and watch as they fall, one by one, to a nameless murderer. After seeking refuge on a sailboat and hiding deep offshore, she sends her brother a series of urgent messages. When finally, a voice answers back, it's not the one she's been expecting. Will this man be her savior or her downfall?

She was not part of his plan.

Saint, an ex-Navy SEAL, has spent the last year recovering from a near-fatal injury during active duty. Unable to face a world he no longer feels part of, he has chosen a life of exile and loses himself in shame and disappointment, giving up on everything . . . until he hears an exquisite voice, crying out night after night on the radio. The longer Saint listens, the more convinced he becomes that he knows exactly who Jenna is and what he must do to help her. But once she has come back to shore, back to him, Saint's agenda grows muddled, and his secrets begin to unravel.

Jenna must survive if there is any hope of protecting the world from the deadly secret locked within her mind. Her decision to trust a voice—to trust a Saint—will kill her or save everyone. But what she didn't see coming, what may prove most deadly, is who stands behind it all.

HI! The Just One of the Guys series was my first writing experience. I love writing romance. I struggle writing sex… But usually like the end product. I think…

I work part-time as a probation officer for juveniles. But i spend the majority of my time with two of the most freakishly awesome boys ever...MY two sons!

I am a huge Kansas Jayhawk fan, Oregon Duck fan and Chicago Cubs! I'm deliciously addicted to music...Love all kinds! Dr. Pepper is a close second in my addictions.

Life is taken way to seriously by most...i say enjoy every moment, have a drink and READ!

I had a hard time getting into this one but I'm glad I stuck with it. The beginning was a little hard to follow since the time line was skipping all over the place and it was honestly more than a little frustrating. Especially since some of the time jumps that went way back in time didn't feel fully needed and instead just took my focus away from the main storyline. I honestly almost stopped a few pages in once the virus was mentioned, but again I'm not mad that I stayed with it. The book did pick up once the skipping around stopped though, and that's where the story got interesting.

As a lifelong fan of Kristi Pelton's books, I was really excited about her first foray into suspense. And this one did not disappoint! This twisty book kept me on the edge of my seat. I also loved that Pelton incorporated a touching romance while keeping the book full of action. Another winner from Pelton! You do not want to miss this one so be sure to check it out on Amazon or Kindle Unlimited.

Kristi Pelton is a new to me author so I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into since I stay away from reading reviews so there are no preconceived notions beforehand, but I have to say, COLOR ME A NEW FAN! The Faces of Saint is a story with a lot of suspense which provides twists coming in hot that I was on the edge of my seat the whole way (and I didn't do a thing until every last page was devoured). The heroine is a different kind of heroine but man did I love her so much because she was not only original but shone brightly throughout. I also wanted to slay her dragons since she was caught in the middle of quite the dangerous cluster. I loved our hero as well since he had demons but was perfect in my eyes anyway. The whole topic that was bringing the danger into play felt so real to me, and frankly was so well written that it could be. I will be reading this book again in the near future since I know I may have missed some clues along the way as I was turning the pages quickly, so do yourself a solid & hit those one click buttons as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This was a new to me author and one I'll DEFINITELY be reading more from if all her books are like this.
This book was special and one I won't forget in a long time.
I loved the female main character, she will give you inspiration to embrace being unique.
This book will have you riveted from cover to cover trying to put all the pieces together, I actually had to force myself to put it down when it got ridiculously late.
This was very nearly (by the skin of it's teeth), a top read for me, so that should speak volumes on how amazing it is.
The author has tackled many different tough topics, particularly with what is going on worldwide, which was brave but she handled them with dignity and grace.
Trust the process.

This book was just so much fun to read. This book is all about the romance, which was super cute and lovely, but a lot of the book is also about the mystery. Which was just so much fun to follow along. I really love stories about two people who’s lives aren’t perfect and who are coming together to get through a situation and I loved how that trope was done in this one.

I received an arc of this book, and this is my honest opinion

The first half was original and had me flipping the pages with a quickness. It was well on its way to a 4 or 5 star review. But.....the second half was a let down. It was choppy, riddled with little holes, and not fully fleshed out. I also felt the author missed opportunity here. She had an interesting premise and some great characters but the delivery fell short.

I’d read some of Kristi Pelton‘s earlier books and liked them. I will say that she’s really grown as an author. This was a great read.

Being new to Ms.Pelton's work i've been looking so forward to picking up her books! As soon as i found out about this one i added it to my TBR list. I knew it had to be the first one of hers that i read. I picked it up and got into this story! I enjoyed it!

Jenna's journey captured my attention quickly! As she escapes from everything she's ever known, she ends up on a boat trying to contact her brother. When it's not her brother but instead a man named Saint who answers back, I couldn't wait to see how everything would play out!

I wasn't sure what all to expect going into this story and i really liked how that pulled me into it even more! I so enjoyed the way this story and it's characters kept me on my toes! I felt so many things all throughout reading this book.

With The Faces of Saint, Ms.Pelton has created such a good read with realness that will pull you in! I am so looking forward to picking up more of her books!

Not gonna lie, The Faces of Saint was a bit of a rough read for me. It took a bit to get into the intense subject matter. That being said, once I got about a quarter of the way in, things really picked up.

I liked Jenna a lot (and hats off to Kristi Pelton for writing her the way she did). She was so smart and resilient while at the same time being scared, confused and alone. But really alone. She had years of training and drills to rely on. And Saint. The man her brother told her she could trust. Oh Saint! Broody and protective. Hiding but unable to deny the feelings Jenna stirred in him.

It was a race against time and some dangerous players and they tried to unravel exactly what was going on. While I was swept away in the mystery and conspiracy and twists, I wanted a bit more romance between Jenna and Saint. That being said, I did like how she softened his edges and he gave her all the patience and care she deserved.

Epic book

This was a special read. I have never come across such special and beautiful characters. They took my breath away. And I really think that if you are into romance you should pick this one up.

Saint and Jenna have a very pure and beautiful relationship. There are emotions, swoon-worthy romance and everything in between. I love how Saint calls Jenna 'baby hollywood' or 'baby wood'. It's just super cute. ( You will understand this once you read the story)

The suspense in this story is killing. At first it sort of confused me because this story is structured around an event. So the chapters go before the event and after it. But with just a few pages in, I was able to get a hold of it and then letting go of this book felt wrong. I almost pulled an all nighter to finish this one. But then it ended before I could do so. I just didn't want the story to be over.

I loved this book through and through.

If you love suspense and a well written plot, then this is the book for you. I haven’t read a book before coming from the POV of a neurodivergent person and I am pleasantly surprised! If the last two years haven’t completely killed your tolerance for biological warfare stories, this book is a well told suspense story regarding the release of a virus and trying to create a vaccine and how big, powerful players really hold all the strings. I love books that show non-typical story lines and POV and Jenna’s autism is a wonderful vision of how the complex mind works. The book could’ve been way long if we dived into their relationship and the ending more but it does end all wrapped up in a pretty bow.

ARC Review of The Faces Of Saint by Kristi Pelton
* * * * *
I was addicted to finishing this read. Had me hooked on the mystery and conspiracy and betrayals and our characters.
Our heroine is pulled into a mess, and she is seen as the mess maker. Something that needs to be covered up is worth killing for. She has no one to trust, and the the only person she does is not answering her calls.
But there is one more person.
Someone Jace told her to call if he didn't reach out.
Saint comes to the rescue and is fighting to stick by his woman, his Baby Wood, his friend's sister.
With conflict, death and deadly surprises, it is all the wonder how these two are dealing with their mixed and rising feelings!
Action packed and wild!

The Faces of Saint is one edge of your seat, thrill ride of a story. I loved every moment of it. The heartfelt brotherhood of the SEALs was beautifully written. Jenna’s personality and way of thinking was fascinating. She’s utterly brilliant and completely awkward. I fell in love with her immediately. And Saint? Well Saint is everything: gruff, damaged, protective, caring, capable, and deadly. The action and deception in this story was riveting. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend this book and will definitely be looking for more stories to read by Kristi Pelton. Thank you so much for the ARC of this book. I’ve already purchased a copy for a friend. Well done!

The Faces of Saint is a suspenseful page turner. It’s a wild ride of conspiracy and betrayal.

Jenna is a gifted scientist and virologist. She’s brilliantly different and on the run. Thrown into a world of corruption and under threat, Jenna has no way of knowing who she can trust.

Jenna’s way of thinking and communicating is so interesting and brings an important element to the story. And Saint, well you can’t help but love this deadly and damaged soul. I loved the dynamic between Jenna and Saint.

This action packed story kept me on the edge of my seat. All the elements of this book came together to create a very enjoyable read.

Whoa, what an interesting read! I always like romantic suspense, and this one definitely had a healthy dose of suspense and did it in an out of the box way. I was intrigued and wanted to see what was happening next and loved how the characters were set up and intricate! This is a new author for me, but I will definitely be checking out more books from her in the future and recommend you checking this out if you enjoy books that will keep your attention! I totally give it 4.5 outta 5 stars!

PS: Thank you to Kristi Pelton and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!

An intense and engrossing read in which Jenna, a brilliant scientist abd virologist, is thrown into a whole world of threat, death and vulnerability, as a result of corruption and greed. Who to trust? Can she trust anyone with her safety and, ultimately, the world's. Even, ultimately, her precious brother.
Saint is a fabulous, enigmatic character. A warrior, a planner, a survivor, holding his life still and needing something to get it started again!
I loved the dynamics between Jenna and Saint, the learning to communicate and to trust, the sense of urgency and danger. It has all added together to make a great read. 💖💖💖💖

This one veered off course a little in the middle, the plot line was intriguing but when the author concentrated too much on the relationship and not on the mystery it became a distraction.

It was a solid 3.5 for me though, I loved that the author's female MC wasn't without flaw and was smart and feisty in spite of it. All of the main characters brought great stuff to the story, and they were believable. This was a new author for me, I'm glad I gave this one a try!

This story is a thrill ride. The suspenseful plot keeps the reader turning the pages to find out what will happen next. Jenna is a gifted scientist. She uncovers something at the Bio-tech company she works at. She has to put her survival skills to work; those her father & brother taught her from a young age. Alone, she finally gets contact from a voice she doesn't know. He reluctantly becomes her life line. Saint has his reasons for living his life the way he does now.
Sit back and enjoy the experience.

I think writing about someone with autism is difficult. Kristi Pelton narrates a fine line beautifully. This was a wild ride of turning one page after another trying to navigate what was going to happen. Suspenseful. Thrilling. Not as much spice but IMO Kristi's best book yet. I'd recommend it to everyone.

Best description of how to feel as if you yourself were on the spectrum. I lived this story with all the characters. Best brother/sister bond I’ve ever read. Suspense, murder and greed rounded out a great book. Read this one, you won’t be sorry.

Loved this! When everything really started twisting I could not put it down! There’s a few topics I would have loved for them to really discuss from their miscommunication there towards the end but overall I really enjoyed it.
