Small things do make a big difference. The illustrations for this book are fabulous. The story is a wonderful learning experience and a creative way to introduce children to volunteering, animal rescue, and fostering.

A wonderful story about rescue animals, which also teaches young readers about the importance of empathy. Lil Peter is an adorable character and my daughter enjoys his adventures, so she was beyond happy to discover this new book.
As a mother, I am very particular about the books I read to my daughter. The “Lil Peter” books are just amazing, as they teach kids so many wonderful lessons. This new story centers around rescue animals, which is a subject dear to my heart. Upon reading it to my daughter, I could feel the author’s love for pets and I think her story will help many children integrate such values with ease.
Without giving too many details away, I am going to tell you a bit about the story. Lil Peter wants to rescue a pet, after discovering that his friend has rescued a cat. When his mom hears about his desire, she hesitates, fearing her son might not be ready for such a big responsibility. However, like all good mothers, she will find a way to trust him. Lil Peter becomes a volunteer at the local pet rescue, which I absolutely loved. What will happen in the end? No spoilers here, you will have to read the story to find out.
My little bookworm had a great time reading the latest adventure of Lil Peter. I think this book will help children learn all about being responsible and showing empathy. Our little ones need guidance in all areas of life, including when it comes to pets and rescue animals in general. This book might become part of one’s home library, but it could also be used in the kindergarten or school environment, allowing educators to strike up a conversation on all these important topics.

May 20, 2022In this latest book by the co-authors, Lil Peter volunteers at an animal shelter. I love its name: Purrs and Wags - very cute!
Peter thought it would be easy, and struggles at first. Cleaning up dog poop is no fun for the little dude. But he perseveres and is rewarded with his heart's desire - I won't spoil the story.
Once again, this book conveys an easily understood message with a simple, delightful tale and a beautiful set of illustrations. I think it's perfect for young readers and read-to's. After all, who doesn't love puppies?

This is the most wonderful book about how fostering a pet and volunteering at a rescue can make a HUGE difference in the lives of so many! Even doing small jobs like cleaning up messes or walking a dog helps give a pet the best chance of finding a fur-ever home - even if it doesn't feel like it at the time!

Writing duo Peter Valdez and Tasche Laine are back with another installment of their adorable series Lil Peter! With the help of the amazing illustrations you can't help but smile ear to ear reading Small Things Lil Peter Makes A Big Difference. It is the sweetest book within their series that dog owners/lovers will appreciate!
Tasche would like to dedicate this book to her sister Bridget who volunteers with the Northwest German Shepherd Rescue. Also, she would like to dedicate this book to her good friend Jas List who runs the OC Pom Rescue.
Out of all the books that Tasche and Peter have done in the Lil Peter series I would have to say this one is my favorite. What kid doesn’t like dogs right?! You could tell that Tasche and Peter did their research as this book was very educational. They were teaching the kids some very valuable lessons.
Mei Mei had me cracking up laughing at some of her scenes with Lil Peter and the dogs! She showed us just how hard it is to actually take care of a dog. I was very impressed how life like the dogs actually looked. I have said it before and I will say it again she has talent!
I loved how at the end of the book there are some reference materials on fostering and reducing dogs. There are also some fun activities that the kids can participate in.

I was so excited when I first heard about this book and it did not disappoint! As a huge animal lover, with a rescue dog myself, this story and its message appeals to me immensely and has a special place in my heart.
Lil Peter learns a lot in this book, including the importance of fostering and animal rescues, how much responsibility goes into having a pet, and how small things can make a huge difference. The story is easy to follow, cute, educational, and even funny at times! The illustrations are vibrant and colorful, and the animals are absolutely precious. It’s everything you could want. Lil Peter sets a great example for kids to learn how to care for an animal and assume responsibility on their own. He also learns a universal lesson about how seemingly meaningless actions can lead to something amazing. The little things really do make a difference! Lil Peter is sure to inspire many people through this book and the rest of his series. 👏🏻

Lil Peter wants to foster a puppy after visiting Christine and sees her fostering a kitten. But it's not as easy as it sounds. Is Lil Peter ready for such a huge responsibility? His mom decides to give Lil Peter a chance to prove he is up to the challenge and allows him to volunteer at the rescue center Christine's family works in. He soon realized that taking care of pets required a lot of patience, care and many little tasks. It was a lot of work, but little by little, he was able to help the animals and started to see that he was in fact able to make a big difference. Such a wonderful message and story that will surely entertain and educate young readers about pet care, responsibility and continuing to persist through the many tasks they may have, no matter how small or meaningless they may seem in the beginning. Every little thing we do CAN make a difference! Highly recommend this book, and all the books in the Lil Peter series!

This super cute little story packs a big punch. Peter learns about fostering pets and doing small things that make a big difference - but you probably figured that out from the title. I’m not going to spill the pet food, you’ll have to read it for yourself! The illustrations are too adorable for words and the lesson makes you take paws (pause). You’ll be cheering before the story ends, I promise you that.
We have 4 precious pets, all rescue animals, that include 2 dogs, a litter box trained bunny, and a duck that quacks us up. These littles have made a huge difference in our lives.

We loved Peter’s first books already, and the fact that they are available in Spanish. This one goes to the top of our list in the series, now! Peter is growing and learning in every story, but this one just felt so real and relatable to so many. It is inspiring and motivating for children and educates them in what shelters and fostering is for pets. The illustrations are great as always and the text just flows so well with the beautiful story. We will be recommending this one, too, and look forward to the next adventure Lil Peter goes on!

The Author has written another strong message behind a wonderful book. My son signed up to work at a shelter this summer, he gets to learn everything Lil Peter did. If they have puppies, I’m not sure I would be able to say no!
No matter how cute & exciting having a pet sounds, kids need to learn with that comes BIG responsibility and hard work. However, their hard work makes a big difference for many animals.

I love watching Lil Peter do new things and how reading is story always makes you learn something new or remind you of what you have already learned. Such a wonderful and cute story, glad to read another great book by this author.

such a sweet book!
I have read all the other Lil Peter books and this one is my favorite! It has such a good message and a happy ending-not that the other ones don’t, but I love this one. A must read for all ages.

This book tells a beautiful story about love, responsibilities and making a difference in the world. The story is well written and engaging as well as the illustrations and it really makes us want to make a difference (like Lil Peter).

Small Things Lil Peter Make A Big Difference is a nice solid story about how Lil Peter learns that he can make a difference in this world by just helping out in small ways. Solid story. Solid ethical teaching without preaching. Great pictures. Plus in the back a word find, an image find and info on fostering. I love it. The author provided me with a free copy of this book.
