I had higher hopes for this book…Body Harmony is part food philosophy, part cookbook - I’ll address each separately.

Food Philosophy: 1⭐️
Yay intuitive eating! Listen to your body! Except also, use this arbitrary structure I’m going to call “scientific,” despite no evidence (other than anecdotal) being presented. Sigh. If food combining is your jam, cool! Just don’t assume it’s healthy or sensible for anyone else and if you’re not a dietitian, or another clinician with a great deal of nutritional knowledge, please don’t give the masses your opinion as fact.

Cookbook: 3⭐️s
I’ll admit I’m swayed by one or two recipes. Without them this would probably get a two. Most recipes are fine, nothing mind-blowing. Some are just not realistic for many (what percentage of the world owns a juicer?) and the spicy broccoli - literally just chili flakes and broccoli. Come on, now. Your kale kimchi fried rice can’t atone for all your sins!

This book is…fine. Not hating on it, just not loving on it and definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

I adore the idea of clean, plant based yet indulgent food. This cookbook is full of tips about intuitive eating and self care as well as tons of creative recipes for smoothies, salads, soups, juices and grain dishes. You're sure to find a healthy recipe for any palate and you will never get bored with Nicole's inspiration. My goal is to cook one meal per day from this book for the next two weeks!
