She was the woman of my dreams and nightmares.
Laura Young had everything I desired in a intelligence, beauty, and strength. We clicked the night we met, but the independent cop left me the next day without a word.
Two years later, she arrested me, and this time, I wasn’t going to let her off the hook.

He was the man I feared and desired.
James Silver was the best one night stand I ever had. But when his pregnant girlfriend showed up the next morning, I fled. With more secret than one.

Two years later, fate gave us a second chance. I just needed to find the right time to tell him about his son. How hard could that be? Harder than I expected, as it turned out…

Lacey Silks

USA Today Bestselling Author Lacey Silks writes seat-gripping romantic suspense with heat and spice. She’s married to most of her characters and tortures her husband with quirky book roles. Lacey’s two kids and her dog Kygo fill her time with homework questions and sweet licks all over her face (the dog not the kids).

When she’s not writing seat-gripping and heart-throbbing stories, Lacey enjoys camping and skiing with her family. She’s an early bird by nature and drinks coffee instead of water, because that’s how her busy billionaire heroes do it.

Lacey’s flawed and relatable characters fill the pages with laughter, snark and tears. She judges men by the size of their feet, loves sexy lingerie, and can’t live without her “boost juice”: coffee.

I usually enjoy secret baby books.
This was so far fetched in so many areas, the only reason I kept reading was to see how far the train wreck would go. Toward the end I skipped more than I read.

Multiple weird/nonsensical events in the book
1. Who realized their spouse bought a black market baby and forgives that? Then goes on to say she’s a good mom. How do doctors even know how to sell their grandbaby on the black market?
2. What kind of mother misses their child’s life saving surgery?
3. How do you date someone for months but never meet their child?
4. How do you let grandparents watch a child so frequently, yet the secret dad that lives next door NEVER sees the kid there and his two girls never see or mention him?
5. Medical records are not that easily changed. You can’t fake a child’s death with the click of a mouse. You can’t change the surgery someone had (liver donation vs appendectomy) without risking the wellbeing of the patient.
6. How can you so easily forgive your parents who faked their own grandchild’s death? I still don’t feel like the back story on that was good enough.
7. It’s not realistic at all for a 7 year old to find her way to public transit then safely make it all the way there. Why would the mother leave the house she disappeared from, doesn’t sound like something police would allow.
8. Why would you run next door to your boyfriend’s parents’ house in lingerie? Why did he walk over shirtless. Just weird
9. I personally don’t understand splitting siblings up on a holiday. I’d assume both go to a single place. I also didn’t like the thought of his family taking a picture of them with two of the kids and no one commenting “if only Kensi was here”. It’s not a family picture if the whole family isn’t there.
10. Practically go into a hate filled rage when you find out your child’s existence was kept from you, but turn around and do the exact same thing back to her.

I could go on and on…

I have so many things to say. But to summarize, I wish I was satisfied with the cliffhanger from the last book. That is much better than the 'plot twists' in this one.

Okay, so ranting from here on so spoilers ahead:

A good story line, but....

I really enjoyed the storyline of this book and it's Santa prequel, and started to give it 5 stars, except there was Tiffany. No problem with the nasty things she did - there are people like her everywhere. However she is constantly given a pass by both James and Laura, and for the things she did, that was unrealistic and unacceptable. That took away a lot for me, leaving me dissatisfied and disappointed.

I love this story (this series, really), and it’s not because I edited it. James and Laura were introduced back in Billionaire Trifecta and they’ve been mentioned in subsequent books, so I’ve been dying to read their story. It turns out to be way more complicated than I could have imagined. And the road to their happy ending, though it doesn’t include any villains trying to disrupt their happiness, is a rocky one nonetheless. They do a sufficient job of impeding their own happy ending; they don’t need the help of any bad guys.

Because the story has many surprises, I hesitate to say much of anything in this review. Suffice to say, Laura and James are the kinds of heroes you root for, hoping they’ll find their way to one another, and their story is great. I highly recommend it—although I definitely think it should be read after the author has tortured you with hints of what’s to come in other books. ;)

I loved this book about Luna, a young English woman who was training to be a heart doctor. She was about to catch a flight when she heard someone calling for help. Because she rushed to help him, she missed her flight. The airline upgraded her and organised her ticket for a later flight. Whilst waiting for her flight she met Jensen and had steamy sex.

The main story starts four years later when Luna has finished her training and becomes a resident at a hospital in the USA only to find that her boss is Jensen. She doesn't tell him that she has a little three-year-old surprise from their hook-up around four years previously.

There are lots of steamy scenes and mix-ups and misunderstandings. One being that Luna's estranged father is also Jensen's best friend.

This was an enjoyable book and an interesting read.

Lacey writes a story that is easy to read, easier to get lost in and has characters that you can become! It is so easy to lose yourself in her writing, and spend the day in the world she has created, believing that you are a part of it, rather than reading about it.

Read these as stand alone, or all together, but myself, I would always go with all, because, well, why not? She pulls you in and keeps you engaged until you reluctantly have to put down the book or you are at the end.

I was given three books (4,5 and 6) as a boxed set by the author to read and review, and I can’t thank her enough for sharing with me.

Laura and James had an incredible night until James pregnant ex-wife shows up. Laura has managed to avoid James for a few years until her job puts him directly in her life. James is shocked to run into Laura but he knows, he won’t let her disappear again. This couple does get a second-chance but there are a lot of secrets being hidden that may derail their chances at a happily ever after. I enjoyed how everything unfolded even though at times I just wanted everyone to shout their truths. It kept me engaged and rooting for this couple as they found love while being able to forgive.

Silver Fox: Secret Child

I read the Santa story about James' and Laura's meeting, loved how they were perfect for one another. Unfortunately an ex wife caused lots of problems. That has also been true about their second meeting and chance for happiness. A lot of things happen, secrets untold and misery before life settled down. Great stories.

I never read a book that’s part of a series out of order, and I don’t know why I started here. 🤷🏻‍♀️ It was a Kindle freebie and suggested. It wasn’t horrible but I didn’t enjoy this authors writing style or the format of the story. I’m not itching to read another book in this series either, soooo…

Main Characters:
James Silver & Laura Young

Review:
This was very out there. One secret baby is usually enough for a book but two?! I'm not sure James is actually a good investigator because he didn't seem to figure anything out on his own or find the woman he was obsessed with.

Tropes:
-Age Gap
-Christmas
-Cop
-Private Investigator
-New York
-Second Chance Romance
-Single Parent
-Workplace Romance

I have really enjoyed every Silver novel I've read.

Laura and James' story was not like the rest and I loved it just the same!

It gave the steam I've come to enjoy! And an interesting plot that kept me turning the pages.

Secrets. Can anything good ever come from them? Maybe!

I am so glad James and Laura finally got their happy ending! I really liked how the details of the other stories were interspersed throughout, so you knew how everything connected. A great storyline with amazing characters and personalities.

Laura and James are so good together. Will they finally be a couple? Will secrets be reveiled? There is more involved than just them…
A good combination of it all.

I really enjoyed reading this story. So much sadness, lying, and romance. Laura and James had great chemistry, but so much baggage was in the way for happiness. There was also some mystery and also a big surprise. Couldn't put this book down until read. Finished in one sitting. Highly recommend.

Wow

So many twist, turns, secrets and emotions filled these pages but more than anything there was a beautiful family dynamic, forgiveness, happiness and lots of romance. I enjoyed every single moment of this book.

Awesome

This was well worth the email I sent to the author asking about the ending of Silver Santa. I really thought that was all there was but nope and this story was even better. Talk about twists and turns. Wow. It was so good.

This book answered more questions and definitely seemed complete. The first book Silver Santa did its job of making me want to read a sequel.

I couldn’t finish this. I’m not sure I’ve ever read a book that was such a hot mess. There is so much happening at one time it’s difficult to read.

There was so much drama and inconsistencies that it wasn’t that enjoyable to read. I was confused and had to reread the original story to see if I was missing something. All around messy…

Lacey Silks brings us the conclusion to James and Laura's story. It is also the fifth book in the Silver Brothers Securities Family Saga series. Readers do not have to read the previous book, but it does give the background and the first part of their story. Years after their parting, we find police officer Laura arresting James. Even with Tiffany there to pick him up with their daughters, James insists on a date from Laura letting her know that everything is not how it seems even from those years ago. Even if Laura wanted to reconnect with James and despite the complications with Tiffany and coparenting their children, Laura has a secret of her own. Will James and Laura be able to get past everything that has happened, or will the secrets be too much for them to overcome?

Lacey Silks brings us a story of family, love, and forgiveness. When James and Laura found that instant connection all those years ago and rekindles it now that they have found each other again, will it be enough to forgive the past and move on to a future? Will they each be able to make peace with the lies and become something more? I enjoyed the conclusion of their story and the journey each had to take to be able to get to that place. I look forward to reading the conclusion of this series and perhaps even meeting the other members of the Silver family.

I have read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank Lacey Silks for this privilege.

I have been reading all of the Silver Brothers Securities books and I am not quite sure how I feel about this one. First let me say that if you haven't been reading them in order you will be confused in some parts of James and Laura's story because they have been featured as side characters ever since Silver's Pawn the second book in the series. Laura is a police officer and a single mother who is best friends with James cousin's girlfriend Allie. Laura has an old secret tied to James but there's more drama then just who the father of Laura's son is. Laura has an even older secret that is somehow tied to James and his ex leaving this whole story with a kind of twisted "baby mama drama" feel. Personally I am someone who craves mystery and drama in a story but not "family drama" and there is a lot of that in Silver Fox. So I am going to say that I just wasn't the right audience for this story. It was told from dual POV and like all the other books in the series had lots of steamy scenes.

Laura is a good cop, and she just arrested the father of her young son. A son he doesn't know about, but she had a very good reason not to tell him. Now James wants to be in her life, and she's afraid he won't forgive her when he finds out she kept their son a secret from him. James wanted much more than a one-night stand with Laura, but she disappeared before he could tell her that, now that she's back in his life he's determined to keep it that way. I loved these characters, they are well written and compelling, all of them.
Not a lot of action or suspense in this one but this is a fantastic steamy romance with surprising twists that kept me engrossed in this book from the first page to the last. Definitely a must-read book, and series.

This is brilliant read.
Three years ago James and Laura had a passionate night together but she left the next morning. James wanted more with her so when she arrests him he knows that he has to try to see her again.
The chemistry between them is off the charts but she is keeping a very big secret from him and doesn't know how he will respond to a two year old son he knew nothing about.
I loved how they were together and all his family loved her but could they get their HEA when his ex keeps trying to get him back.
So much drama with plenty of emotion and even more secrets.
A must read.
