She wants that booty, and she’s not gonna stop until it’s hers. Meet Gwen Lee: former antique dealer, current treasure hunter. She keeps in prime shape, moisturizes like hell, and better not hear anyone saying she looks a day over 45. She’s world renowned and her expeditions create one helluva stir on the black market. Because Gwen is all about dollars, and living the lifestyle to which she has become accustomed.
Luxe.
When she learns that finding the Trident of Poseidon would make for one monster pay day, Gwen decides to pursue it. There’s just one little problem–no one knows if it’s even real.
Together with her sister Lainey, Gwen sets a course for Siren’s Bay, a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean. They set up base at a dodgy rent-a-cabin business on the beach, despite obvious interest in their operation from the owner Jack, a sexy Scottish beach bum.
It soon becomes apparent that the shark-infested turquoise waters of Siren’s bay hold a secret… or several.
Not only does Gwen discover the Trident is breathtakingly real, she’s not the only one trying to get it. She finds herself caught between Jack and Maris, the polished Italian who runs the local Visitor Center. Both men are determined, hot as hell, and willing to broker deals with her. But Gwen isn’t sure who she can trust in her quest for the Trident. Maybe not even herself.
Tomb Raider meets Indiana Jones and James Bond in this thrilling new Paranormal Women’s Fiction adventure series with a feisty take-no-prisoners heroine, a cursed pirate, a merman, and a kraken.
Reader warning: This series contains heavy language (including the use of F-bombs), and open-door descriptive sex.
I loved this book! Gwen Lee and the Trident of Poseidon was so fun to read! Take one kickass treasure hunter, three sexy "men", a mythical artifact and put them all together on an exotic island. The fast paced story and action kept me wondering how Gwen was going to win her prize while faced with supernatural challenges. After all, she always gets the treasure! I have thoroughly enjoyed all of Louisa West's books but I really think this is my favorite. I can't wait to read what happens when Gwen goes to Camelot!
I loved this book and what an amazing surprise! Gwen, a treasure hunter, and her sister Lainey arrive at a small bay to look for the Trident of Poseidon. She teams up with Jack and Maris, both who are more than they appear to be, to remove it from a cave. This was filled with danger, passion, myths and lore. Reminiscent of Laura Croft and Indiana Jones combined, this book brought to life a grand adventure and an engaging, determined heroine worthy of the challenge. Louisa had an enticing plot with twists and turns that kept surprising me and kept my attention glued to each page. I totally did not expect anything that happened in this book. Loved it! I received an ARC and this is my honest and entirely favorable review.
I really enjoyed this first book in Louisa's new series. I liked Gwen and her sister, and I was interested by the plot. First, fair warning, there is some adult relationship content. It is not fade to black in the romance scenes. Moving on to the plot. I liked the overall reach of the story, but I have to say I was shocked by some of the twists and happenings. When you read a lot of these types of books, you kind of expect X, Y, Z to happen. Some of what I expected happened, some of it surprised me, and some of it came out of the blue, completely unexpected. I love when books surprise me. I cannot wait for the next installment!
This new book, Gwen Lee and the Trident of Poseidon by Louisa West, is utterly magnificent!
There is so much to love about this book. To begin, it's something unique and different that adds to the excitement. There are some really hot "men" that bring a lot of steam and fun to the story. Then there's Gwen herself who is a total badass. She knows what she wants and doesn't worry about what others think about it.
Highly recommend reading this book if you like paranormal tales with a fiesty heroine and some good steam.
Five stars for me and I'm so anxious for the next one..... Oh that'll be a doosie!!!! 💙💙💙💙💙
I didn't like this one very much, but it was me-problems not book-problems.
I loved the premise of this book, but sadly it just didn't hit right for me.
Gwen is a fun character, and I enjoyed her sister, Lainey. I enjoyed the urban-fantasy vibe. I liked the treasure-hunter premise.
But why-choose / multiple-love-interest romances just aren't for me, and I didn't realise that this is what the book would be when I went into it. I like my romances to be nicely built up, and in this one, I just didn't get that vibe.
Louisa West is a local self-publishing author to me, and I really wanted to love her book and be able to promote the heck out of it, but sadly it just wasn't my kind of story.
WOW!!! I absolutely LOVE this wonderful new world our brilliant author has introduced us to in the first of a new series. If you think this is going to be a typical book with mermaids you'll be very surprised 😉. Think a feisty Lara Croft with snark, wit, determination and heart, in a fascinating place filled with "unique" inhabitants that make treasure hunting all the more adventure filled than usual. It's both a WONDERFUL introduction to this world and the characters, and I cannot wait to see where this series is going next!!! Get ready for oodles of lore, action, adventure, snarky comments and a few alpha males along the way. Three cheers for Gwen Lee....treat yourself now and dive into this gem.
I loved this new series from Louisa! It's definitely for adults, and oh so good! Louisa takes us on a pirate adventure searching for the Trident of Poseidon. We meet the stubborn treasure hunter Gwen and her bubbly sister Lainey. I refuse to give the whole book away, so there are plot twists, hot guys, shapeshifters, which include a shark, siren, and a freaking kraken! I loved it, so grab yours now too and join in the fun!
A new series by Louisa West and the start of book is a home run!
Gwen Lee is a female Indiana Jones, and she is just as likely to end up on someone's hit list! West offers an exciting treasure hunt, with just the right amount of romance to spice things up! The shapeshifters are surprising- and interesting!
The story moves along quickly and the resolution is fulfilling and not easily guessed. I look forward to following along on Gwen's next adventure(s).
This new series is so much fun and interesting. The characters are great and make you want them as friends. The interplay between them is so well written it makes it easy to visualize the scenes. The myths and adventures are engaging and make you cheer for the heroine and want more! Can't wait for another adventure! I was provided an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review
Plenty of exciting reasons for page turning in this book. Another great work of Louisa's. With Gwen's goal of a precious treasure she finds herself up against and with some supernatural beings. One tough lady though does not throw in the towel, instead uses her womanly tactics and her tough exterior to gain the upper hand here but not without some dangers. A great read and highly recommended
Another great book touching in with the PWF genre. Gwen Lee is a 40 something woman who is happy to take charge of her life and sexuality. This isn't a reverse harem but she does enjoy a few lovers over the span of the book. I found the book to be well writen and enjoyable. I look forward to the next in the series.
Interesting characters, fun story. While not usually the kind of story I'd read I did enjoy this one. Not you're usual shifters and a dose of the mythological kept me interested when felt a little too "Tomb Raider" for my liking. Looking forward to Gwen's next adventure.
This is such a great read, I totally loved it! The action starts right away, and everything was described as if I was right there. The steamy parts are perfecto! I couldn’t stop reading, such a fabulous adventure! I can’t wait for the next book!
If you enjoy heroines with a little wisdom and a whole lot of sass and an adventure that is Tomb Raider meets Indiana Jones, with a paranormal midlife twist, you'll love this book!
3-3.5. A pleasant way to spend a few hours. It’s an unusual mix of treasure hunting, paranormal elements, and nods to mythology sprinkled with sexy times.
First book of a new series for Louisa West and she knocked it out of the park Excellent start to a new series and I can't wait for the next one.... Gwen Lee, is a woman over 40 who kicks butt, she is a cross of Tomb Raider meets a female Indiana Jones...a lot of action. There is sex in the book so if you don't like that....it might not be for you. But I thoroughly enjoyed the story line and was surprised by some of the shifters. Hot men and a snarky treasure hunter...what could go wrong! Highly recommend if you like paranormal...
WARNING: The is sex in the book (again I say this because there are some that don't like reading it)
