A long-lost nuclear weapon in the hands of one man could annihilate a city. In the hands of The Cause, it could destroy the world’s economy – or ignite nuclear war. Stopping the unthinkable falls to Special Agent Frank Deal and his unique team of WMD hunters.
The massive nuclear bomb rested half-buried in the sand, its black casing still bearing the faint image of its previous owner – USAF. The bomb vanished sixty years ago into the waters just off the Georgia coast after a mid-air collision. Now, two skinny kids and their unscrupulous pawnbroker father stand at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean looking at a monster capable of incinerating an entire city. The weapon should be returned to the military.
But that isn’t going to happen.
After ruthlessly acquiring the bomb, former Texas governor Margie Franks and the rest of the secret society known as The Cause hatch a plan to destabilize and control the market for key natural resources. Not hindered by morality or humanity, the cabal of billionaires will use anything and anyone to advance their pursuit of wealth and global influence.
At the request of MI5 Director Sir Gregory Fender, Special Agent Frank Deal and his expert team fly to London to investigate a terrorist threat of historic proportion. With the legendary terrorist leader, the Wolf, controlling the next generation of technically savvy fanatics, Deal receives intelligence pointing to Oxford University as the epicenter of radical activity. To avoid alerting any terrorists operating within the university, Deal calls on his most unique asset – four American college sophomores – to go undercover as international students. Michael King and his three friends’ discovery of new long-range drones, capable of delivering heavy payloads anywhere in the British Isles, sparks the possibility of multiple surprise terrorist attacks. Maybe even nuclear.
Entangled in a web of treachery and deceit, Deal must first discover whoever lies behind the threat or the world may once again feel the full effect of nuclear hellfire.
I live in Alabama. Yes, I know. Stereotypes abound about the south in general and Alabama in particular. Some are true. Some are not. I graduated from Auburn University and then attended law school at The University of Alabama. There’s a big football rivalry between the two schools you may have heard about. It’s a major thing down here.
For almost thirty years I practiced law all over the state. No need to bore you with that, except for the fact that my job allowed me to meet real-life characters of all types. Some good. Some bad. And some were just plain outlandish. Not surprisingly, I often develop characters based on the interesting people I met through the years.
I’m still a lawyer, at least technically. But now I’m doing something I truly love – writing. As an attorney, I wrote all the time. Mostly, mind-numbingly detailed legal motions and briefs and such. Now, I can write what I want.
I have an awesome wife who puts up with my eccentricities ¬– writing late into the night or hanging out in the garage fiddling with old cars. She is a lawyer too, but a much better one than I ever was and beautiful to boot. I’m a lucky guy. I hope you enjoy the books!
This is an exciting book that uses new technology (drones) and old-fashioned smuggling techniques to plant a nuclear bomb in a strategic location. The success of this dastardly act depends upon the genius of four college students supported by the FBI who are limited because of infiltration. The MI5 is also involved but they are also in a limited capacity because of traitors. A newly named UAE shiek provides another element of support as he deals with breakout attempts on his life. This complex group of characters show great resilience, intelligence and outright bravery as they fight to save the world as we know it. Could this be for real?
I thought that the first book was very good, but this story was one of the best I’ve read. Once again, the Cause (an elitist Deep State group) is thwarted in their efforts to control the world by an FBI agent, his team and four college students. You will not put this book down until the end. I hope Mr. Klasing has another sequel or two!
Totally unbelievable, these are college students. While believable how smart they are, the whole premise is too unbelievable. The technology is awesome. The room that can totally disappear is quite fabulous. Advanced drone skills makes interesting questions about how close such a drone is to reality. Worth the read.
One of the very few books that I rate 5/5. It is a story simply that one looks forward to continuing after setting the book down to do other things. However, the story demands a follow-up. What happened to the kids? Did they continue to be mini agents? In the end of the book, Dave turning out to be king of the cause was absolutely wonderful. Good, good ending.
The Cause started in the 1920’s and grew into something sinister and corrupted the “Directors”. From its beginning in Southern States to now more global, it uses a nuclear weapon to get what it desires. Believable intrigue, young adult ingenuity, and the good guys win out in the end. Good reading entertainment.
Having read the first of the trilogy, I was keen to try the sequel. As enjoyable as the first. The four students are future spies in the making; however it does make for some unbelievable antics. I felt that the bad guys would have more depth to their characters.
Built on the first book. The Cause still amassing power, influence and promoting the Confederated Way. Twists, turns, youth rising to the occasion and saving thistle from thermonuclear war.
I bought the book immediately after reading “The Cause” and read it cover to cover. Do not open this book if you have any close deadlines - you will prefer to read the book.
I really enjoyed reading this book; as it contained great characters whose interactions made it even better. I will look for other books in the series to read.
This was a very good story. The plot was well thought out. The pace started slow but gains speed fast. Characters were just what you would want in an action story. Great job. Look forward to reading more from this author.
Action from start to finish, never a dull moment but just as you turn the page to see what happens next, its the end of the book and they have you hooked good to get the next book to see what happens next.
