An insightful, delightful new novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation.
One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn't see coming...
Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.
Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away—with visions of a small town transformation for Nora, who she’s convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute.
If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again—in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow—what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves.
Adorable love story told from the point of view of the city girl from the Hallmark movies who’s ditched for a small town, simple girl. I found this book at different points to be hilarious, perfectly spicy, and heartwarming. This book definitely made me into an Emily Henry lover for life.
I didn't want it to end. I loved the back and forth banter between the sisters and Nora and Charlie. Literally laughed out loud at some parts. So so good.
This book was hilarious and kept my interest the whole way through. I mostly liked Nora, but I thought her attachment to the place she grew up was weird. Like all her memories were all focused on the "places" she went, not 'who' she was with.
I did like that she was constantly compared to the foil of a FMC in a book, and then got her own happy ending, in HER way. But, I don't know, I felt like something was missing.
I also hated the epilogue. It was too short and kind of a waste, it could've just been added to the end chapter if it wasn't going to be more detailed. We should've gotten to see his proposal.
Maybe I'll come back and actually give it 5 stars but for now, I feel unsatisfied.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved the banter between the characters, I loved the feel good/healing moments, I loved the funny jokes and conversations! I will say though… I did get bored at the end and feel like come on like get to it. I just felt like some things just dragged on and I was just waiting for the resolution! That’s why if lost a star!
I really liked this book. It was a really easy read. I loved the way the characters were written, they were flawed but it was never annoying. They were still love able and I was always rooting for them.
Cute story. Reminded me of a hallmark movie. Predictable at times but the characters were so charming and lovely - that made me want to keep reading and not want it to end!
It's such a fun read. I laughed, I cried! I was really immersed into the world that was created and felt for the characters, each relatable yet unique.
Una novela ligera, de esas en las que te quedas con el corazón lleno, una novela de amor y de hermanas. Me gustó mucho la ambientación en el mundo de los libros y el final me encantó
