Dirty Summer #1

Summer Heat

Rate this book
“A dirty summer fling with a boy from the wrong side of the tracks.”

This is my sister’s recipe to avoid boredom as we spend the summer at Daddy’s newly purchased resort.

I’m not looking forward to spending time with her and our snobby, demanding mother, but hey, at least the view is nice.

Nice and hot. Like the staff.

There’s Matt, the gorgeous chauffeur. Drew, the sexy chef. And Brady, the smoking hot surfing instructor.

Boring goes out the window when I catch their attention and maybe they could give me the dirty summer my sister was talking about, a summer like I’ve never dared to dream of before.

Too bad that the guys have big dreams for their future and that means keeping their heads down, winning the biggest surfing competition Coral Cove has ever seen and most of all, keeping their jobs at Daddy’s resort.

And to do that, they know that they can show the guests a good time on the dance floor and in the water, even flirt a little, but it has to end there.

The guests are off limits and as the boss’s daughter I’m even more out of their reach.

But nothing goes as planned, lines get blurred, and the summer nights heat up.

When we can’t stay away from each other and I make it my mission to help them make their dream come true, will we end the summer with a victory or will we lose it all?

Attention: this is a story where the heroine won’t have to choose between her different love interests. This story is part of a duet and ends in a cliffhanger.

Greer is written too childish and young for me. Her decisions reflect her youthful innocence most of the time and I feel that her decision to be with the boys is more acts of rebellion than anything. I do get lots of Dirty Dancing vibes from this plot, but wish Greer had more depth to her character and more strength to stand up against Chels and Tristan and had the courage to confront her dad about things instead of fearing his disappointment.

Summer time. Greer and her family are spending the summer at her father's latest purchase, a country club on an island paradise. Golden beaches, crystal blue water, every amenity and pleasure one could desire. Greer is in heaven. All she wants is to spread out on the beach with a good book but with privilege comes duty to family. Look like the perfect daughter, pretend to be the perfect family, and wow daddy's potential investors. Never mind that Greer will never live up to her mother's expectations or win back her sister's approval. Greer is a daddy's girl, so as much as her mother and sister hurt her feelings, she will be there for him. And if she catches the eyes of a few hot staff members along the way, there's nothing wrong with that. Even her sister approves of a "dirty" summer fling. Except this doesn't feel like a fling. Greer is catching feelings for Matt, the chauffeur, Brady, the surf instructor, and Drew, the chef way beyond a summer romance.

This is pure summertime fun! I never knew I needed an RH Dirty Dancing until I read this. I mean, who doesn't love Baby and Johnny? Make it times three and it truly is an island paradise. Greer is simply a beautiful person, inside and out; a sweetheart with killer curves. She sees the best in everyone except herself. Her confidence has been battered by her mother and sister, and her dear daddy doesn't seem to notice. It was difficult to tolerate the female members of her family. Shallow, superficial, catty bit***s. I assume they are threatened by Greer since she doesn't fit their society mold, actually using her brain and caring more about people than the latest designer trend. They made the perfect villains along with their male counterpart, Tristan. The locals were all delicious. With guys like Matt, Brady, and Drew, I would never leave the island! Plenty of steam, sexiness, angst, and fun. My only complaint is having to wait until next summer for more. With the cliffhanger, that's just cruel!

I really liked this book. It felt like the perfect summer read. I grabbed this book on a whim, probably saw it and its description on a FB group somewhere. It looked good, I had room on my KU, and instead of adding it to my TBR, I just downloaded it immediately. Sometimes, those aren’t winners, but this wasn’t one of those times. I lucked out! It was a really good read. I love destination reads. Greer is spending the summer with her family at a newly acquired island resort. She’s not your typical “rich girl”. She’s actually a bit sheltered, and more of a daddy’s girl/book worm than concerned with body image, jetsetting and general hob knobbing like her older sister and mother. While there, she runs across some delicious locals who work at the resort. She is up against breaking some stereotypes, while also dodging a cringe worthy scum bucket son of one of her father’s business partners that’s only goal this summer is to get his member wet in as many holes as possible, including hers. Circumstances find her helping the yummy Drew, Matt and Brady on their quest to enter the surf competition, though there are barriers thrown up at every turn. We are left on a cliffhanger, and ugh… since this just came out, we’ll have to wait and see what happens. My only hope is that we don’t have to wait until summer 2023 to get the next installment!! :):). Definitely worth your time for a delicious read!

Super Hot Surfing Reverse Harem Romance

I'm a massive fan of Melissa Adams, so when she announced she was releasing Summer Heat a new co write with Mary Martel I knew I would be a fan.
Summer Heat is a sexy reverse harem set in a beachside resort where Greer, who returns from the UK after finishing boarding school, comes to stay at her Dad's resort with her snooty Mum and her dreadful older sister Chelsea.
Once at the resort she meets Matt, the grumpy Driver, Drew the handsome chef and Brady the sexy surf instructor. She likes all of them, but they've been warned by her Dad that they can look but not touch the guests. A forbidden romance between the three commences, but as well as hiding her budding romance with the three guys she's also batting off advances from Tristan, who's the son of her Dad's business partner.
This book features lots of swoon worthy romance, red hot steam and three deliciously sexy men with six packs and devastating smiles.
Greer is a likeable fmc who is constantly insulted by her mother and sister, who complain she is too fat and boring. She is instantly drawn to the three guys and together they start to bring her out of her shell and make her realise she isn't worthy of the insults that her mum and sister throw her way.
This book ends on a cliffhanger and I hope it isn't too long a wait to find out what happens next!

Ok....holy Bananas! I can't even! The world building seamless, the Characters are so relatable and seriously love them all! If you loved those beach movies ( Gidjet) comes to my mind and dirty dancing . Mash them up and you have a similar story here! I think it mostly has a dirty dancing vibe but so much MORE! Melissa and Mary together ❤ so freaking awesome. I haven't read any of Mary Martel's stuff yet even though I do own at least 2 of her books! I am going to have to move them up on my list! This story really has it all! The HOT guys and the quiet nerdy type girl who is overshadowed by her sister..you also have different social circles and a sports competition...all done at a summer resort. So PERFECT for a summer read 😍 hands down one of the most amazing Cliffhanger of the year so far! And I LOVE Cliffhangers!! I think you need to read this it will be torture to wait for the next one!! SO AMAZING 👏 😍 🙌

I just loved this take on a classic that we all know and love and turned it into so mush more. I found Greer to be such a sweet and caring character and I loved the fact she wasn't a snob and nothing like her sister who I absolutely disliked from the start. And I think Greer going to have to watch her with not only her sister but the slime ball Tristan who doesn't understand the word no. Then there's the three super hot men Drew, Matt and Brady from the resort and things start to heat up with a lot of sexual tension right from the get go and I absolutely loved it and boy do they know how to take care of Greer. While still keeping us happy with a lot of drama and plenty of scandal while still having some funny moments at times and of cause a cliff hanger right at the end that I really need to know what happens next.

Dirty dancing vibes! But surfing instead of dancing!
I absolutely loved this book, and I knew I would as I love both authors.
The story follows Greer a girl from a rich family however unlike her vile mother and sister she doesn't act it. She is sweet and kind, the kind of main character you can't help but love. Her and her family are spending summer at her dad's new property. She meets 3 of her fathers staff members Drew, Brady and Matt, she's immediately attracted to them and they are to her. But instead of a summer fling it appears they are all catching feelings. They are having to sneak around as her family wouldn't approve and she doesn't want to risk the guys loosing their jobs.
The ending definitely leaves you needing the next book, I cannot wait to find out what happens next.

I would sell my soul for books from either of these authors, and they write one together? Shut up and take my money. I love Greer so much. If you’ve read the Ariel kimber series, she reminds me of Ariel. She’s quiet but deadly. I love that she takes her mothers and sisters crap and brushes it off. Speaking of, I honestly have never hated characters more than Chelsea and her mom, which to me is some darn good writing. The story is captivating, you get sucked in to these guys working at a resort just wanting to make something of themselves and having “rich girls” try they’re luck and risk everything. Matt, Brady, and Drew just seem so real and over people like Chelsea’s crap. I usually lean towards PNR books but I’m glad I strayed. This is hands down a top favorite of the year for me.

Pageturner

A Dirty Dancing retelling they said... it was all I needed to get my read on, because this girl here grew up with Johnny and Baby. Hell I'd probably be able to recite entire scenes of the movie at this point. This book did not disappoint at all. It gave me all the feelings. There were clear nods to some of my favourite Dirty Dancing scened which I adored. Some characters I loved, others I straight up wanted to see very much served with karma. I finished the book in a matter of hours because I couldn't stop reading, despite feeling the impending doom of a cliffhanger. My heart was racing in the final chapters as I wanted to know more. Now I'm left hanging, hoping I'll survive the wait for the soon to be released sequel.

This is definitely one of those books where you read it and then go to write a review but are at a complete loss as to what to write because it was brilliant and words would never do it justice.
All I can really say is this should be at the top of your summer reading list!
These to authors came together and produced a book that is just 🔥🔥🔥.
They make you hate some characters like Chelsea and Tristan and fall in love with Greer and Matt, Brady and Drew. They write the characters so well you can picture them in your head. This definitely has the dirty dancing vibe. Can’t wait to get the next book and find out what happen.

Greer is a girl that is content with a book and the beach. Now her dad brought his family out to the new club on an island. Can this be a summer of relaxing time and her nose in a book? However things don't quite go that way. She catches the eye of a few staff members and this results in many situations if you know what I mean. Fun summer times! I'm jealous at Greer. However her sister and mom I wanna punch so bad but you'll get that when you decide to read this book which I highly recommend you do! Dirty Summer here we come!

This book was innocent, flirty and spicy. I loved how conflicted Greer is between her family and wanting to people please while also showing a backbone and spirit. Every step of the way was an awakening and I loved every minute.

Who wouldn’t want three gorgeous guys who work on the resort property right? But there’s so much more when your father is also trying to set you up with people of your “stature” and those people are well not great people.

I loved every moment of this and it’s one of my favorites by Melissa adams and Mary Martel. I can’t want for the next!

This is the first book in the Dirty Summer Series. I believe this is also the first time these authors have co-written together, and I can honestly say that I am very happy with the result!

I loved this story and the amazing characters! I am a huge fan of Dirty Dancing and was in absolute heaven reading this book! It is super steamy, intriguing, twisty turny, and just all around fantastic!

I highly recommend this book and am extremely excited to see where the story goes next.

Dirty Dancing vibes for the win!

I kept reading little snippets that I associate with that movie. However, with that being said being said, this story is so much "more". Its an RH and the fmc has three totally hot guys. Brady, the surfer. Matt, the driver. Drew, chef extraordinaire. Greer's father buys the resort. The guys work for the resort. Mixing of guests and staff is frowned upon. The guys want to win the end of summer surfing competition for personal reasons. This book ends with a big cliffhanger! Why?!?!

fantastic

I really enjoyed this book, it’s well written with detail and emotion.
I love the setting of the story, the rich daddy’s girl / owner of the resort. The storyline reminded me a slight be of dirty dancing with a twist - which I absolutely love.
The characters were great, especially the hot AF local guys.
Cliffhanger ending was brutal- Can’t wait to see what happens next.

This book was pretty good. I liked that she originally went there to read and enjoy a summer but ended up falling for multiple boys. I hated her sister and how stuck up and snobby she was. Her mom was pretty messed up for sleeping with the person her sister was trying to get with. I love how the boys tried not to fall for her but eventually gave into their desires. I love that she was able to help them out with money for their competition. I cannot wait for the next book!

Loved it!!!!

Greer is such a beautiful character! She has a lot of hatefulness to deal with between her mother and sister but does so with class and grace. Love these guys and I bet they’ll never put Greer in a corner!(wink) These two authors alone are amazing but together is like a dream come true! Can’t wait to read the next book!!!

Love this!

What happens when 2 of your favorite authors co write a book? You get Summer Heat. Summer Heat is a great read that definitely has the Dirty dancing vibe going on. There are so many things happening and I absolutely love the character development and character chemistry. I hate that it ended the way it did but can't wait to see what happens in the next book!

I absolutely loved this Dirty Dancing adaption! Greer is a great female lead, and the male love interests are perfect. Not as in Knight-in-shining-armor, but created to draw out the best qualities of Greer. The antagonist is one you love to the, and the steam is absolutely incredible!
An absolute re-read, over and over again, for me!

Summer Heat is right

I absolutely love this book. Greer is a breath of fresh air to the staff at her father's newest property where her family is spending the summer. She definitely isn't the typical "rich girl" like they are used to dealing with. Greer has grown up sheltered and is kinda naive, but she has a heart of gold. This book will definitely have you turning the pages to know more about all the characters. It's a great story and I want to know more

This is definitely not worth the amount of stars it has gotten imo. Very childish/juvenile. Greer is portrayed as innocent and cute, naive even. The little girl that knows nothing about boys but has business ideas. I cringed when she tolerated T’s tongue down her troat, like, really? You don’t like how he’s acting, why would you accept that? Come on. Started skimming right after that and I’m not impressed with the parts after that either.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
This book had me by the leash. I did not want to put it down and now I need the next one. Holy crap that ending has me needing more because I need to know what is going to happen next. This story has a Dirty Dancing’ish vibe but in RH style.
Greer and her family are staying the summer at her dad’s newly acquired resort. The staff are hot and talented…I’ll let your mind wonder on that one. The staff can show the guest a good time and flirt. But that is it they are to keep their hands to themselves and no fun times with them after hours.
Greer is nothing like the typical rich kid. She would like nothing more than to be left alone and read a book on the beach. But the moody chauffeur caught her attention, then the hot chef made her heart beat faster, and then the sexy surfing instructor made her have dirty thoughts. Maybe being alone on the beach would not be a fun as seeing how hot of a summer could be with these three guys.
Greer caught the eyes of friends and resort workers, Matt, Drew and Brad also. How can they keep their job and their dream of owning a business alive when she is so tempting? She is nothing like the other rich spoiled girls and that makes it even harder to resist. Seriously, one false move with Greer and they lose everything. Greer’s daddy can make sure of that. With Greers sister and mom being the people they are would jump at the chance to make her daddy think less of her. Then there is her dad’s business partner’s son constantly trying to make things harder on all of them.
You need to pick up this book to see how this summer romance takes shape. The ending is a killer and I need the next book. Yes, it is a cliffhanger but the rest of the book makes it so worth it even if the ending makes you sad. I absolutely loved all the guys even when they are being douche canoes to Greer. Greer stays true to who she is and even gives the guys a run for their money.

More than 5 stars!

First - as another reader described this book - think of this story as a modern "Dirty Dancing" (DD). But where you can HEAR the characters thoughts and feel their emotions.

Second - I absolutely LOVE this book. It's characters - speechless! The guys are like Johnny all rolled into one character. Greer is similar to Baby in many ways, but her sass is on fire with the guys. The supporting characters - Greer's dad, her mom, and sister are on par with the originals but more (no spoliers). The plotline is a genius twist to DD.

Third - Okay, I hate cliffhangers. However, I loved this book so much, I don't care about it. And it's a HUGE cliffhanger. But, seriously, don't care. Probably because I'm a true fan of DD and have been watching it for over 30 years, since I was 5 years old (the 80s were different times - lol), and it's my favorite movie.

Last - truthfully, I'm not a fan of the either author. I've read some of their books but never finished them or liked a book enough to finish a series, mainly because I didn't like the characters (which make or break a book for me), except recently [read below]. But, I'm in LOVE with this book and will be trying some of their other books. MA's latest book about extreme sports - I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to reading the next book.

Inspired by Dirty Dancing, this fun summer read is something you won’t want to put down. Greer isn’t the typical rich girl—unlike her sister. When she joins her family at the resort her dad just bought the summer before she begins college, she isn’t overly looking forward to it. But she quickly finds herself drawn to three men who work at the resort: Matt, the chauffeur, Drew, the chef, and Brady, the surf instructor. The men fight their attraction because it’s strictly forbidden to sleep with the guests, let alone the owner’s daughter. They have dreams of their own and they need this job to make them happen. But Greer isn’t giving up that easily, and the pull between them is intense.

As soon as I read that this was inspired by Dirty Dancing, I knew I had to read it. Dirty Dancing is my favorite movie and I couldn’t wait to see how these authors spun it. It felt very familiar, but not in a bad way. You’ll definitely recognize moments from the movie, but these authors put their own spin on things. And it was such a fun read. I can’t wait to see what comes next for these characters following that cliffhanger.

Modern day surfing version of Dirty Dancing

While this book started off decent, it's basically a modern retelling of Dirty Dancing, with surfing instead of dancing and a few twists.

The main plot features are the same, even down to some scene settings and the wording of the scenes.

Ultimately while I enjoyed this somewhat, it would have been better as an original, or even a slightly more original, story, rather than copying a classic film. Disappointed to say the least and while this book ended on a cliffhanger, I just don't care enough about it to read the 2nd part.

If I wanted Dirty Dancing, I would have watched Dirty Dancing.

(Yes this is a reverse harem, yes thanks are slightly different but the whole premise is the same and it's just too similar/copied for my tastes)
