This is a fun little romance set in Alaska. I love destination stories, and having been to Sitka a couple of years back, I could really settle into this one.
The characters were interesting and the story well written. I enjoyed it, but I thought the "thing" that Jared did when they were teens was going to be way worse than it was. It was hinted at for so long and built up to the point that when it came out it was a bit of a let down. Not bad, but not as satisfying as I expected. In fact, it made Jo seem really petty and immature about the whole thing after so many years. I did appreciate that after the truth came out, Jo immediately felt better/forgave Jared.
At the end, our couple is separated for a time while Jo tries to work things out. She completely ghosts Jared, her aunt, and her best friends in Sitka for several months only to reappear at the end and all it mended. It worked, but I wanted a little more.
Anyway, the book was nice, well-written, and cute. I give Frozen Hearts 3.75 stars and a Clean rating
1-5 scale and what it means: 1: I couldn’t even finish it / just plain bad 2: I hope I didn’t pay for this / disappointing 3: I didn’t hate it, but it was still missing something / forgettable but inoffensive 3.5: On the line between good and ok / like, not love 4: Solid mind candy / worth reading 4.5: So very close to perfection! / must read 5: I could not put it down and I’m still thinking about it! / a true treasure
Movie Ratings in relation to my review: Clean--Hallmark movies, some kissing, no nudity, no intimacy on or off "screen" PG--Some innuendo but nothing kids don't hear every day, intimacy is all closed door PG-13--some language (swear words not related to intimacy), more talk about intimacy, heavy petting, removal of clothing on screen, but intimacy is closed door. PG-14—somewhere between PG-13 and R. Not erotica, but at least a paragraph of on-screen intimacy R--swearing (F-bomb, on “screen” intimacy, sometimes feels like the whole story is about the intimacy and not the relationship or some other plot, but not always
Second Chance Romance is my absolute favorite romance trope!! 😍 Frozen Hearts was a super cute, fast paced small town romance that follows Joanna as she goes back to her home town in Alaska, following the unexpected passing of her father. Of course, back in her home town is her High School sweetheart!
This was a super quick and lighthearted read, I did it in one evening! If you're browsing KindleUnlimited, it's perfect. The small town setting is super cozy, and the characters are all fun. This isn't a very heavy story, and it's a zero on the spice scale. But I really enjoyed it. They characters are older (30ish) and Jared has a sweet dog!
I was lucky enough to read Frozen Hearts as an ARC. I promised to leave an honest review. It may contain spoilers.
Frozen Hearts satisfied my little Romcom Heart. I recommend this to anyone who likes Hallmark and UPtv Movies. Joanna and Jared were high school sweethearts, the perfect couple. Until she leaves for College and Jared breaks her heart. She has never gone back… till now. After her Father’s death, she has to go home and figure out what to do with his estate. Don’t worry; she has a plan. Sell it all. Easy, right? Not if Jared has any say in it. Boy, does he. Let’s just say her Dad threw a few snags in her plans. Will they find their way back to each other, or will she run back to her city boyfriend?
Aunt Rose is fantastic; she is the Aunt we all want. While Joanna, Jared, and Aunt Rose feel like real people.
The other side characters feel too one-dimensional for me. They keep the story moving, but they feel more like plot points. Which is the only reason I’m giving it 4 instead of 5 stars.
Also, Does anyone else want to plan a trip to Alaska? After reading this, I’m grabbing some travel books.

This was my first time reading something by this author and I found it to be a very fun and cute read. The story was well-written and entertaining and the characters were interesting and fun. It's a quick read with a small, hometown feeling, perfect for an evening cozy read. Joanna goes back to her hometown in Alaska after her father's passing and is faced with her high school sweetheart, Jared. They had not parted on good terms. Now, back home with him close, she is faced again with all those former feelings and old wounds begin to reopen. Thay now have a second chance with each other, but before that can happen, misunderstandings from their past will need to get cleared up. This was a light-hearted, sweet read, and was very entertaining. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to read this. I received a complimentary copy from StoryOrigin and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Loved this second chance small mountain town romance set in the beautiful Sitka. Lovable main and side characters who draw you in with an emotional storyline. Jo is back home after 15 years to sort out her father's assets after his death.Jared is still living in their small mountain town. They did not part on good terms. Now Jo is back and they are thrown together, old feelings and hurts awaken. Jo is only back for a couple of weeks then she leaves. Will Jared and her freinds convince her to stay? I do not want to say anything else and spoil the book.It has a few surprises and twists along the way? I could not put this book until the last page wondering will she won't she?Highly reccomend this book and the author.
crossroads I wouldn´t want to trade places with Joanna: after her father´s death she has to decide whether she leaves her roots behind to follow her dream and continue her career and new relationship in New York or to honor her father´s legacy and return to her roots, her childhood home, her old friends and the one the love she never forgot... Returning home to tie up loose end, she learns a few shocking truths and she and Jared have to clear quite a few misunderstandings before they can share the precious things money just can´t buy. I received this book as a review copy.
I received this e-book in exchange for my honest review. I read this book in one sitting and it was utterly delightful. Even though it was not a long story i liked the characters right away and was invested in how the story would end. I'm a sucker for a swoony love story. Jarod is a sweet and caring leading man. Joanna is unwilling to forgive due to misunderstandings. The story ultimately ends with happily ever after...but with whom?
I chose this book because there was a husky involved. Seeing as I have 11 huskies of my own, I was thrilled! However, this book ended up being so good! The story is great, and I didn't want to put it down from the first chapter. The characters are lovable (especially Petunia), the plot is realistic and warm (despite it being in snowy Alaska), and there's even an animal shelter involved! Could this book BE any better??
Realistically this could be read in a day. BUT it was so boring I couldn’t find the desire to pick it up. It had no plot, and Jared was so unlikable it was almost painful!
The fact that they get MARRIED in the end, as tho they had dated more than just as teenagers. I don’t think I’m cut out for this cheesy of romance because COME ON …

Oh man...I needed so many tissues for this one! It's one belly a read! ❤❤
Such a great story! The storyline is amazingly good; the characters are something else; the plot twists and turns are pretty clever; and the HEA was spectacular! Grab your copy today...❤❤
Sweet romance story. It’s not to cheesy or boring. Joanna is very relatable and believable. Usually I read more fantasy based books but this was nice for a reset and to let my mind relax and wind down. Jared was someone I would want to be with so it was to see a not so bad boy get the girl.
this was a nice story. its was fun lighthearted and wrongly emotionally connective. i was actually so so invested 😭
it was great seeing the whole story unfold. while there were cliche parts and it's quite a predictable story, i still had a happy time going through the book.
Joanna came back to her childhood hometown for her father's funeral and to settle his estate. Her plans were to sell everything and head back to her life in NY. Finding her high school boyfriend running in her dad's store was a surprise. Discovering her dad had a will and what it said was shocking. How is she supposed to work with Jared? Will she be able to convince him to sell? What happens when he discovers she has been talking to the developers? Can they get closure or is there too many miles between them? I received a copy of this book from the author. Review voluntarily given.
