Austin and Adia's love was formed around a ticking time bomb. First it was Adia waiting for Shemu to claim her soul after saving Austin. Then it was their numbered days in the City of Souls. Followed by their time in Castle. Now it's the ultimate time bomb before the shadows claim Adia as their own.

Adia believes she finally has her happy ending with Austin, unaware the shadows torment her into hurting him every night. While the hunters tackle the dark souls plaguing Earth, Adia and Austin's relationship is tested. She is the key in destroying the shadows but as her reality twists, her allegiance is the price she will have to pay to keep her people safe.

As they approach the end, Cora's visions are unreliable. Frustrations rise amongst the team of hunters as desperation takes hold. Cora and Lamarse’s past is told and all secrets are revealed.

The final book in the trilogy was really good! I did not do it justice by taking too many days to read it bit by bit and that's likely why it's a 4-4.5 compared to the others.

Similarly to Hunters this one jumps around, but I found it significantly easier to follow, we learn so much back story and all the pieces fall together.

There are surprises and unexpected alliances and it is very reminiscent of the revelations in the half-blood Prince.

Do yourself a favour and read this trilogy! Only read it when you can dedicate larger chunks of time!

i loved all the characters and how they got their own ending. i loved that there were still twists i didn't see coming. I thought it was going to end so differently but glad it ended the way it did! i loved Jax, so sarcastic but full of love and loved his ending. the world building was great. i wish there was a a few bonus epilogues of Adia and Austin with their child and if her parents got to come back or her dad. but all around so great. loved how everyone was together after she killed the shadows and Sam. so many got their closures.

I have enjoyed every book in this trilogy. Shadows was the perfect ending to this story. I enjoyed that the author includes pages at beginning of this one and the second one, Hunters, explaining certain things and abbreviations and characters. The timeline jumps around a lot but it all ends up coming together at the end and everything makes sense.

I loved it

What a great ending to a unique and well-written trilogy! I won’t say too much because spoilers but the characters were fun and the plot was so thoroughly planned. I’m sad it’s over!
