Some moments in life are more dangerous—and more seductive—than others. For attorney Nick Rogers, that moment happens the second he walks into Faith Winter’s winery and lays eyes on her. Confidence, beauty, and inscrutable vulnerability. Provocative. But Nick knows at least one of Faith’s secrets—one of what he suspects is many…

But Nick has a secret of his he already knows who she is. He’s only playing the role of a stranger, just enough to get to know her, to find out if Faith truly is the one who hurt his family. Hurt him. But Nick’s façade was only supposed to be on the surface. And now that he’s touched her, he wants her. And wanting her means he has to have her.

Now lust and love are battling for Nick’s soul, even as he lures Faith deeper. Into his life. Into his heart. He could lose everything. But soon the lies will be exposed and the truth revealed. Because where the white lies end…obsession begins.

Absorbing, sexy, with the suspenseful edge we love from jones.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jones is a raw and passionate writer that knows how to capture your deepest emotions. Her stories are fresh; loaded with testosterone and power along with strong women that crave it and can withstand it too.
Absorbing, steaming hot, and sexy, with the suspenseful edge we love from Jones, White Lies is a two-part story combined into one book so you don’t have to wait! The story is creative and unique. Nick is loaded with not only cash but stamina and love for Faith. When these two come together, it is fire.
With enough suspense and a dash of mystery to keep the interest, White Lies proves to be an addictive read that was tough to put down. Nick is definitely a top favorite of mine!
So why only 4 Stars? Faith did bug me several times and some repetition in conversations due to her exhaustive lack of trust.
ABOUT THE DUET
There are those moments in life that are provocative in their very existence, that embed in our minds forever, and sometimes our very souls. They change us, mold us, maybe even save us. But some are darker, dangerous. If we allow them to, they control us. Seduce us. Quite possibly even destroy us.
The moment I walked into Sonoma’s Reid Winter Winery and Vineyard and made eye contact with Faith Winter for the first time was one of those moments. Provocative because I know at least one of her secrets, of which, I suspect she has many. Provocative because she believes I was a stranger to her when we met, but I am not. Provocative because I sought her out, with no intention of touching her. But now I have. Now I want her. Now I have to have her. But that changes nothing. It doesn’t change why I came for her.
White Lies is a two-in-one duet. Book one, Provocative. Book Two Shameless. For me, it was a great weekend read.
Nick, Aka Tiger, is a sharp take no prisoners lawyer. Nick stumbles upon Faith and takes to help her. Faith life has been on a downward spiral for some time. Trying to pull the reins and take back control.
While Faith has some trust issues, Nick has secrets and is unprepared for what will happen.
Nick is the hard shell on the outside, fiercely protective and soft on the inside for Faith, and let’s not forget, incredibly patient. I loved him and his character growth.
Faith is a whole different matter. I like her character for three-fourths of the book. I kept trying to justify how she reacted. My concern is her character growth; it didn’t feel like she had full development. Otherwise, this would have been a five-star read for me.
I still recommend this book, it kept my attention, and I like the mystery behind the plot
White Lies by Lisa Renee Jones
I found this book intriguing and very engaging. My attention was held from beginning to end. It was well written, and sexy, without the sex being the sole focus. I would recommend.
This was filled with relationship angst that had me on the edge most of the book. While I’m not a fan of secrets between the hero and heroine, the fact that it was obvious how this couple felt about each other helped to ease the way for me.
May be an image of nature and tree
Nick and Faith were FIRE together! Their chemistry was off the charts and the suspense that ran throughout the story made this an intense read on every level. Their inner thoughts did take precedence at times when I was ready for things to move on.
May be a black-and-white image of 1 person and indoor
I loved the inclusion of the Inside Out characters. Seeing my favorites was a real treat, especially when their presence added to the storyline rather than taking it over. Overall, a great read and an excellent addition to the Inside Out world.
Review:
Faith’s life is spiraling out of control. She just recently lost her mother and the winery she inherited seems to be going under. That’s when the mysterious, charming, successful Nick enter her life, seemingly from nowhere, and seems to be enchanted by her and decided to help. However, he is hiding something important, something that can end their unstable relationship.
I confess in the beginning I didn’t love any of the main characters. After some chapters I started loving Nick, and Faith… let’s say she was never my favorite and in some parts I plainly disliked her. I couldn’t see what Nick saw on her. You know when someone don’t seem to be worthy so much trouble? I had this feeling in most of the book. She was really untrusting, unstable, jumped into conclusions and didn’t seem as involved as Nick.
On the other hand, the mystery behind Faith’s mother and the winery kept me engrossed. Of course, Nick made everything worthy to me.
I dived into this book without any expectations, I don’t read suspense stories about murder/suspects but this one came out with flying colours. I requested it on Netgalley after reading its blurb, it intrigued me, and damm straight I’m glad I did. The book is fantastically written and the best thing is a get to read the duet together and didn’t had to wait for the story to get completed. It’s an accomplishment to read the entire story in one go and unravel all its secrets of it.
I loved how the writer has written it beautifully and the passion is clearly shown. The characters are intense, the story goes on with the flow and every word feels important to read and understand the feelings behind them. I freaking loved the plot and the dialogues, lines, and descriptions are super captivating to me. The closeness between two strangers as the story moves forward is intense and passionate and defines a connection that you want to feel and it fits everything in the heart in every nook and corner.
There was so much defined in one mystery that shaped the story and at some point, you can think that a certain thing might happen and if it does happen you’ll be amazed by the method it came into light or how it’s unwrapped. This story felt like a gift wrapped in many layers and while unwrapping those layers you can feel joy, nervousness even a small heart attack but in the end, everything was worth reading.
Nick is a strong confident person whereas Faith is unending and she needed a lot of self-sustainability where mental peace is concerned with the way she transformed I’m proud of it and the support Nick gives unconditionally without any expectation in return is mind-blowing. There was so much happening at once but it was never chaos in understanding. The story tells a Crystal clear picture and leaves no room for any doubt or questions.
Nick and Faith start off on a steamy note. Their connection could set a room on fire. As their relationship grows so does even more lies and even more trust at the same time. I loved part one of their story, however, part two seemed like it could’ve been shortened. This is definitely a dark romance with all kinds of twist and turns.
this is my first book by this writer, and i have to say i was surprised in a good way. its so rare to find a book in this genre and theme that’s well written and isn’t focused entirely on the sex scenes.
i loved the characters, faith was cold and jaded while nick is the opposite although he’s bit calculating he’s the one that’s passionate and desperate for love although i have to admit for a lawyer he’s a bit stupid when it comes to some obvious things.
my only complaint being the long drawn out inner monologues…they were wayy too long i didn’t mind them at first but it got to the point where im skimming so that the characters would get to the point.
all in all its a short and a good read but i wouldn’t recommend to read it if you’re in a slump.
While I read these books when they first came out, these books are must re-read for me as they were some of the first books I had read by the wonderful writer, Lisa Rene Jones. As it was the first time, I was taken in by the words Ms. Jones wrote the story of Nick and Faith. Provocative is certainly the best title for book one. Nick fits the title well being at times infuriating, provoking, and maddening. More is revealed as we go into Shameless and it definitely has some twists and turns. White Lies has it all, suspense, danger, surprises, and most of all a romance for all times.
I’ve followed Lisa Renee Jones for years but have only read one book before this one. White Lies is the full package. Faith and Nick are great characters, strong, likable, and interesting. The plot is so good here. The first chapter captured my attention and the rest of the book held it.
Nick and Faith’s relationship didn’t begin honestly, they’re brought together by connected tragedy. The how and why of the story kept me guessing until the end. So much so that I actually wanted to skip ahead to find the answers. Definitely worth the read.
An addictive, romantic, and sexy wine-country suspense. This was a real-page-turner. The mystery of the double murder will have you hooked from the very first chapter. Next thing you know you’re flipping through the pages just wanting to solve the whodunit. The romance between Faith and Nick is intense. Full of emotions, traumatic pasts, fighting, making up, fighting again, complete with one jealous ex and an agent who’s just a little too comfortable. If a wildfire and tornado had a love child, it would be a solid representation of Faith and Nick’s fiery relationship. So, if you're like me and can't resist a good drama, pick up this book!
Packed with mystery, action, betrayal, seduction, business and legal jargon, a glimpse into both the wine and art worlds, underground sex clubs, and the likes. If you've ever wondered what it would be like if Suits, Fifty Shades of Grey, and Murder Mystery were meshed together into a single work, this would probably be it. This book was interesting, entertaining, and kept me on my toes the entire time.
Here are the top 5 things I liked:
1. It kept me wanting more
2. I got major Donna & Harvey Specter cheeky banter vibes from Nick and his assistant
3. Nick. He presents himself as very cold, but he’s actually a hopeless romantic
4. Anything set in wine-country is my jam
5. The mystery of the note from Faith's late father
Read if you like:
Romantic suspense
Forbidden love/off-limits
Crime/mystery
Drama
This is Nick and Faith's story, a romantic steamy suspense, with a fast pacing story, that will have you on edge reading non-stop. It's a dual POV, giving the reader both sides of the story. It's a well written story, that you won't be able to stop reading until you discover all the mysteries, with twists and turns that will keep you entertained. It will be adapted and produced by Passionflix for the screen somewhere in the near future.
“Nice guys don’t win”
“The kind of attraction that’s unforgiving in its demands. The kind of attraction that’s all consuming”
Wow just wow !!!
This book was good!!! I liked it!!!
It was a bit slow paced during some scenes but others felt like it was running like wind !!! Wow
The plot was so good and the relationship between Nick and Faith was good, although complicated !!
But we like complicated !!!
The spice was amazing and honestly I really appreciated the frequency !!!!
The trauma they both had in their past, only for different reasons and the issue she has to face in order to trust someone again where a good story line to follow, especially considering the lengths he goes through to make it happen with him!!!!
The sweet part where probably unexpected but very good and I enjoyed reading it!!
And the words this man can come up with !!!! His mouth is sin !!!!!!
Some side characters were more then interesting and of course others were just terrible … if you read the book you know what I mean !!!!
Overall I’m glad I had the chance to read it and thank you to everyone who made this possible !!!
San Francisco, CA Attorney Nick Rogers is determined to figure out who murdered his father because he knows it wasn't a heart attack. When information leads him to Faith Winter, a local artist whose family owns a vineyard in Sonoma, CA he is ready to uncover all of her secrets. The only problem is that the more time Nick spends with Faith, the more he finds himself falling for the woman who could end up crushing his world. As Nick and Faith try and figure out the mystery of everything that has and is happening, many secrets from the past slowly begin to unravel. Between the mystery, the ex-boyfriend, Nick's law career and Faith's painting, life is going in a million different directions. Just when it looks like life is calming down, the past comes back in a dangerous way. It will take life and limb for these two to finally find their happy ending and it was an exciting and thrilling ride getting there.
I really enjoyed this suspenseful, romantic story. Nick Rogers is the ultimate alpha, possessive and rich male. He has NEVER done relationships but for some reason Faith Winter changed all of that. It was fun watching Nick trying to "take care" of Faith while she was fighting him all the way of NOT wanting to be "taken care of"! Nick and Faith have so many similarities in their pasts it was scary but they truly are better together! Overall this was fun, exciting, steamy story to read!
WHITE LIES combines PROVOCATIVE and SHAMELESS into one book. Together, this presents the whole story of Nick and Faith. Faith has just lost her mother, and she might be soon losing her family's winery due to her mother's negligence while she was alive. She is being accosted by creditors when Nick shows up. Nick, known as the Tiger for his legal prowess, is searching for the person behind his father's death, which he thinks is Faith. Soon after meeting her, he realizes that he is probably wrong, but he's sticking around to find out.
This is a steamy read with BDSM themes and plenty of twisty, tortured romance. Nick and Faith each have a lot of baggage from their pasts, particularly from their parents, but in Faith's case, also from a past relationship. As they find their way together, they help each other to work through their pasts in order to find a future - but of course not without a few bumps along the way. The story also includes an intriguing mystery about their parents and who is behind it all with implications for their current target, Faith. This takes a few surprising turns that I did not see coming and is resolved reasonably well at the end.
Overall, WHITE LIES is a very steamy romance read that combines 2 books together for a highly bingeable read. Please note that I received an ARC. All opinions are my own.
“I feel this man inside and out. I feel him
and see him as he does me, and it's not
what I wanted, and yet, I am hypnotized by
this moment, by him.”
This book was okay I liked it. It was very sweet and sort of fast-paced. I liked the main characters even though Faith made me so frustrated with her but I like her character. Nick on the other hand I loved him. He was so supportive of Faith and he would do anything for her just to see her happy.
I liked their relationship it was heartwarming and very cute. I liked that Faith remained independent even though she was in a relationship with a very rich man it was refreshing. The side characters were meh I didn't like Josh but I liked Nick’s friends they’re cool. The spice was there just not so descriptive as the other books that I read but it's okay.
Overall this book was good. I kinda halfway through got bored and I considered DNFing it but I pushed through to see what happens next. The plot twists were pretty predictable I saw it from miles away. So if you wish read it.
“I feel this woman like I've felt no other. I'm
obsessed with her when I have never been
obsessed with anything but success.”
PROVOCATIVE:
Something about this book nearly made me put it down when I first started. I think it was sizzling heat and attraction that needed to be dealt with before the suspense I had picked it up for could reveal itself.
Once the secrets started coming to light (to the reader at least)I found myself much more invested and unable to look away.
Eagerly diving into book two to see how things come to ahead and hopefully get all the answers to things we have been teased with.
SHAMELESS:
I enjoyed this much more than the first book, but it still had it's moments. Not necessarily steam related but for me personally by the time all the secrets were finally laid bare, it felt like everything was rushed to get everything answered before the pages ran out.
Which is a shame as I was really enjoying the growth of the characters along with being shocked by the bombshells being uncovered, so would of loved more time dealing with the aftershocks.
That's just my preference though and I know many who will be satisfied with this duet.
White Lies is a two part story combined into one book and it's a story packed full of secrets, lies, lust and intrigue.
As Nick "Tiger" Rogers sets out to discover who/what got his father killed and finish them. After all, he hasn't come by the nickname "Tiger" for nothing.
But he didn't bank on the gorgeous secretive Faith Winter, the daughter of the woman, his father was giving money too. But why? And what role did Faith play in this? Or is she merely an innocent bystander?
And as Nick relentlessly and arrogantly pursues Faith he's determined to uncover all of her secrets whilst keeping his safe.
But what happens if Faith uncovers his?
And with an absorbing storyline, intense chemistry, suspense and brilliant characters. This genuinely was a terrific and sexy read. That I would happily recommend to others.
WHITE LIES is a two-in-one that combines "Provocative" and "Shameless" in one fascinating read. Even if you have already read these two books it is worth the read again.
Even though Nick was not particularly close to his father he still wants to punish anyone involved in his death - at least he is 99% sure Faith had nothing to do with the old man's death. But everyone can guess Faith's reaction when she finds out why he sought her out.
Faith just wants to paint. But a bad romance, her father and then her mother's death and leaving the family winery in her - unwelcome - hands, has her doing what she feels is her duty. If only she can get out from under all the legalities and figure out what is happening around her.
So much happens in WHITE LIES that you will be turning pages quickly and glad that book two is right there so you can get to all the answers. Both, Nick and Faith, have a bit of baggage that needs straightening out and some of Faith's almost gets her killed.
This book got straight to the point! I loved that about this book, it’s a duet series in one book which is awesome instead of waiting to read the other book. We meet Faith who just recently lost her mom and has all of this responsibility she doesn’t want to take on, while she has her own passions she is willing to put that aside for the sake of her families legacy. Then we meet Nick who was at the right place at the right time, but he had his own hidden agenda. But off the batt there was this automatic attraction and I loved how they both acted on it. The STEAM between these two was SPICY, and to top it off the romance was super sweet. Loved the constant encouragement from the characters towards Faith. Even though some secrets were revealed I felt it was a little too rushed at the end, which was a little disappointing, but aside from that it was a good read.
I loved reading this book. This is an author that I have loved reading from the first book I picked up by her. One of my favorite things is her writing skills and her attention to details that make her stories pop. This book is no different. This is a well written story that has twists and turns like no other. This is a fast paced, engaging story that is hard to put down. A story where the author took two books and combined them into one. This is a story you don't want to miss. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into the story from the start. They are creative, unique and made the story story for me. I enjoyed the secondary characters and how supportive they were. There is great growth throughout the story which made it easy to read read and entertaining. I really enjoyed this book and I hgihly recommend it.
In the White Lies duet, Lisa Renee Jones has written a pair of sensually passionate love stories about two indomitable characters who find love in the midst of intrigue and chaos. There is more than enough mystery and intrigue to go around with the two people with secrets and lies in their lives The byplay between Nick and Faith is intense, erotic, sensual and practically sizzles off the page. But each one is wary of the other even though they are inextricably drawn to one another. There are far more questions than answers. As the suspense and mystery deepen and surround Faith with danger, Nick does everthing in his power to get answers and keep her safe.
White Lies is a repackaged release of the duet Provocative and Shameless. The books aged fairly well, with the exception of some dates thrown in briefly, but otherwise could have taken place current days.
You will be kept guessing and wondering how things are going to shake out until close to the end. Nick is searching for answers and keeping too many secrets. Faith is trying to find her path and coping with loss and guilt. They are not looking for a happily ever after, in fact neither wants to define what they become. And when secrets are exposed everything Nick was trying to protect comes crashing down and time has run out.
Lies are at the center of this story, because there were a lot of them. There was also a lot of passion, a lot of deceit and a lot of suspense. Pretty much everything I’ve come to expect from this author.
I have to admit that Nick wasn’t my favorite character in the beginning and it really did take me a while to get me to like him. I understood where he was coming from, but I didn’t like his approach. He was a man who was used to winning. He did have compassion for the underdog, but he made it clear that he had none for his enemies. Throughout a lot of at least the first part of White Lies (Provocative) he put Faith in that category, regardless of his attraction to her. I might have warmed up to him sooner if we hadn’t been given Faith’s POV as well as his.
Faith had some secrets of her own, but I sympathized with her from the beginning – even when those secrets were revealed. By the time I was totally warmed up to Nick, he had almost waited too long to come clean. *sigh*
There were a lot of twists and turns in White Lies and I have to admit that although some of the big reveal at the end wasn’t so surprising, some of it I never saw coming. I have to say that I’m really glad that I read this when it was offered as one complete book, because I would have hated the wait between Provocative and Shameless – even though it was just a few months. 😉
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of White Lies. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you Entangled Publishing and Net Galley. I really enjoyed reading this double novel. I did not realize that it was 2 books until I saw that it was almost 600 pages. The first 40% of the book I found boring, but it certainly picked up after. The story line was a mystery and the sexual descriptions were vivid. Don't miss reading this book and look for your own Nick. This was my first by Lisa Renee Jones, but it certainly will not be my last.
