I had high hopes for this series because the idea sounded so promising: zombies + romance? Count me in.

Unfortunately, it never reached its full potential.

The first book was entertaining enough to keep me going, but everything slowly went downhill after that. The romance lacked the emotional intensity I was looking for, and the survival aspect wasn't strong enough to make up for it.

The zombie world had so much potential, yet it often felt like it stayed in the background while the relationships took center stage. And even then, I wasn't fully convinced by the couples or their chemistry.

The short stories were a nice addition for readers who loved the characters, but by that point, I was already disconnected from the series, so they didn't add much to my overall experience.

Overall, this wasn't a terrible series—it was just... forgettable. I wanted higher stakes, stronger romance, and a post-apocalyptic world that felt more immersive.

If you're looking for an emotional romance, there are better options. If you're looking for a thrilling zombie series, there are also better options.

Sadly, this one landed somewhere in the middle.

(7/12/21) Flesh and Skin are great postapocalyptic romances. There's definitely quite a bit of a "marriage of convenience" vibe underpinning the "You're the first living woman I've seen in six months" trope.

Overall, I liked this series but I wish book one had been a little shorter and the novellas a little bit longer and more developed.

Such an amazing series!! Way better than the walking dead. I'm actually sad is over. I want to know what happens with all these characters. Just a great read!
