My stepbrother used me and threw me away. Now he's the only one I can turn to.
When my car is stolen outside my new college dorm, my roommate points me to "The Vigil"—a trio of students who tackle crimes when campus security drops the ball.
The last thing I expect walking into the Vigil's office is to find Logan Brooks staring back at me.
I want nothing to do with the stepbrother I once had the world's hugest crush on. Two years ago, patching up his mysterious injuries led to a passionate hookup on the bathroom sink. And then he totally ghosted me.
But even though he looks at me like I'm dirt under his shoe, he and his distractingly hot friends insist on taking my case.
No way am I letting them investigate on their own. Working with them will give me the chance to find out what's really up with Logan. Why he was bruised and bleeding that night. Why he's shut off the whole family.
Except when our search takes an unexpected turn, I realize the truth is even more horrifying than what I thought I knew...

This was my first time reading these authors and since rh is quickly becoming one of my favorite tropes, I couldn't wait to get a hold of it. But I felt like at times the storyline was going too fast yet too slow. I'm definitely intrigued about all the secrets, especially after that cliffhanger, so I can't wait for book two, but I want to see more spice in Maddie. I hate how she let Logan treat her like dirt but she kept coming back for more every single time. I know he cares, we know he cares, but he never gives her any inclination that he actually does care. And with him calling her a you know what once he found her with Slade.. ya, that boy needs to grovel.
I adored Slade and loved how genuine he was about Maddie from the start. I'm curious to know more about Dexter since I have a feeling he's going to be a Trojan horse - it's always the quiet ones, lol. And Beckett -- just how does he fit in all of this?! So many questions that I NEED answers too!!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest **
**ARC Review** I love stepbrother romance! The beginning of this book roped me in and held me hostage! I read this book so fast and couldn’t get through it fast enough! My head was reeling and the cliffy left me with so many questions!
I love how sassy Maddie! Shes got that strong FMC vibe! The men! Oh Logan is that standard Broody step brother that ignores his feelings not matter the cost! And his Friends, Slade and Dexter! Woooo I love Slade’s character! He’s got the carefree feeling and Dexter defiantly has something else going on that I can’t wait for find out more! And I can’t not wait to find out more on Beckett!
Madelyn is as much innocent as she is a total bada$$. The book starts pretty steamy with an encounter with her stepbrother, Logan. After that heated night, the book fast forwards 2 years where he has ghosted her and practically disappeared the entire time since.
Now in college, Maddie is determined to live her life and enjoy college...that is, until she finds her car was stolen with a precious box inside and not much luck to help find it. Her roommate suggests that Maddie's try the campus "investigators" and with no other real options, she tries her luck.
When she finds her step-brother Logan and his two high school best friends are what make up "The Vigil," she is determined to find out what happened two years ago as well as getting her car and belongings back.
What she didn't expect was exactly how involved the guys get on cases and how she would feel towards all the guys. Logan might be rude and standoffish now, but there once was a time where he cared for Maddie. Dexter and Slade are his friends but give nothing compared to the vibes Logan is throwing at her and are more than happy to be in her presence. Beckett is a wild card I cant wait to see how that unfolds. (Please keep him a good guy in her harem!!) lol.
When answers are uncovered, Maddie finds herself in the middle of a crime scene. Could her father who died all those years ago really be apart of that life? What does her dads 'Box of secrets' contain? What exactly do the guys need to "explain" to her? Will she be able to get out of this latest trouble she finds herself in? ******** I really enjoyed this book a lot. It had me on the edge of my seat. The steam - we get some good steam in the very beginning and then nothing again till almost the very end but it was sizzling! The storyline is unique and different and I'm super ready for book 2! I want to know what happens next ASAP! Also I need more of Beckett. He's such a wildcard but is clearly developing feelings for our FMC, but is complete opposite of her guys.
*Overall 5/5 *Fast/Slow Burn *Heat? 3/5 (Tension is a real killer) *First person POV (All main characters) *Ends in cliffhanger
✅ 1st person multi pov ✅ 🔥 start/ slow 🔥 with tension throughout ✅ Intriguing plot that left me excited for the next ✅ RH ✅ Dark Suspenseful plot ✅ Fully dimensional characters
I am very interested to see where this series goes. This first book, Savage Secrets, drew me in quickly and the plot kept up a steady pace.
There is a spicy scene in the first chapter before the main story continues 2 years later. There is a stepbrother relationship involved in the romance, but it did not heavily play up the forbidden angle, which was refreshing, even though it is a favorite trope of mine. The main character briefly questions if she is confused for being attracted to more than one man, but ultimately decides she is done suppressing herself. She realizes how strong she is and I like that she is shown to be able to handle her own and not only rely on the guys.
All of the characters are layered and complex. I love that they have all had personal obstacles to overcome and are now set on helping others. I loved every piece of backstory we from the characters, particularly Slade.
I am intrigued by the character Beckett because he is a charcter with ulterior motives that becomes interested in the FMC. I sense he is a multi layered character and can't wait to see more of his story unravel.
I can't wait for the next book. This book resolved its main plot nicely, but ultimately there are more secrets that I am eager to uncover. Well executed cliffhanger.
Being new to both Ms.Chance and Ms.King's work i've been wanting to pick up this duo's work for quite some time now. As soon as i stumbled across the synopsis for this book i couldn't wait to read it! I started looking forward to it right away! I picked it up and got into the Vigilante Kings world! I so enjoyed this first installment!
This first book in Madelyn's journey was quick to capture my attention! When her car gets stolen, she turns to The Vigil. Little did she know it'd bring her face to face with her stepbrother Logan and his two best friends Slade and Dexter.
I wasn't sure what all was going to happen in this first installment and i really liked the way that pulled me into it even more! It definitely kept me on my toes for sure. I really enjoyed the way these characters had me feeling all kinds of emotions throughout.
With Savage Secrets, Ms.Chance and Ms.King have created such a good read you won't want to turn away from! I can't wait to find out what happens next in this story with the second installment, Reckless Games!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Peachy Keen Author Services / the authors*
I got the generous gift to arc read this book for my honest review!
This was a great start to a series! I absolutely loved the depth the character showed and the multiple povs to get the picture all around! I cannot wait for Logan to break hopefully in the next book! I was very impressed with Maddie’s character, she was smart, strong and didn’t take shit when people were giving it. She asked for help when she needed, took what she wanted from the men when necessary and was just the best rounded FMC I’ve read and that just makes me very excited. The sexual and non sexual tension between the FMC and the male characters were done so well you felt it. I loved the dynamic between Logan, slater and Derek had and really want to know how Bennet fit into the story. This was a quick read that I could not put down!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This book will hook you from the very first sentence. This is such a unique and fascinating world that Eva Chance and Harlow King have written. This is a book about a group of young people that take care of crimes around campus that the campus police have no luck solving. Maddie has just settled in to her new dorm room when her car is stolen. She doesn't feel like the campus police are going to have any luck or really not do much and she finds out from some students about The Vigil. She is really surprised when she goes to them and finds Logan her stepbrother there. These two can not stand each other. But, if someone ghosted me I would be mad too. Especially after you patch them up and then have one of the hottest encounter you have ever had. These two haven't seen each other in two years and Maddie isn't just going to trust Logan to do anything at all so she will help The Vigil. The sparks are about to fly and you are about to read a really great book. This is more than just a stolen car. It is a book filled with twist and turns and one you will not really want to lay down.
It’s no secret that I love Reverse Harems and when you add in a taboo romance with secrets, suspense, intrigue and mystery. I’m sold!
When Madelyn’s car gets stolen she turns to the group of students on campus known for solving crimes. What she doesn’t expect is running into her stepbrother who she hasn’t been in touch with for two years. This takes the group on a quest to find out what happened to Maddie’s car. They don’t expect to be caught in the middle of a crime.
Savage Secrets started off with a bang and that momentum continued through the book. I loved the FMC, Madelyn. She’s feisty, bada$$, and has a take no shit attitude, especially from her stepbrother with whom she had a feisty encounter two years prior after which he promptly ghosted her, ouch. Maddie’s guys are so different and I’m looking forward to seeing how things progress with each of them in the next book. I can sense we’ve only touched the iceberg in this story and book two can’t be here soon enough!
I asked the author for safety info and this was her response to this series:
“I skimmed back through the first couple of books to jog my memory (it's been a while since I wrote them so I don't remember perfectly). It looks like there's no indication that the guy did get with any other girls after his first hookup with the heroine, so I think you could believe he's been celibate.
The part that I realized might be an issue for you is that they knew each other earlier than that--went to school together since they were kids and had crushes on each other as young teens. After their parents started dating, he assumed it would be too weird if he pursued her, and in the scene where they first hook up, he vaguely acknowledges that he's had a bunch of flings in the past few years. (So basically the timeline is -- they're friends in school, crushes develop, he thinks nothing can happen with her and has casual relationships with other girls, they hook up, possibly he is celibate from that point forward until they get together again.) The definite (but only very briefly mentioned) other hookups were before the present-day of the book so not at all shown on page, and there's zero detail about them, but if you want the guys to be totally devoted to the heroine from the moment they first meet her, this wouldn't qualify.
(Sorry, I forgot about that part when I added it to my list. With all the other series I mentioned--other than Shadowblood Souls which I already gave some detail on--the men don't meet the heroine until after the book starts so their pasts are totally before her.)”
Hmm i might give this chance if i have nothing else to read😭
From the very beginning I was captivated by this world and these characters. I wasn't sure what to expect, but as I was drawn into it, I found myself quickly attaching to the story.
At every chapter I couldn't keep myself from reading just one more. I got so drawn in by Maddie and her amazing character, then I got to meet Logan, and just about when I almost forgot how to breathe, I got two more guys to obsess over.
This world of theirs is filled with secrets and I seriously can not wait to see what's next!
First question, what is going on with Beckett? I loved how this book had a little bit of mystery in it. i absolutely love Slade. But I hate how much of a jerk Logan is. He treats Maddie like he can careless about her, when you can tell he really does. But I’m so glad Maddie put him in his place eventually. Also the spice didn’t really come till the end. I can’t wait for the second book. I really want to know what Beckett has to do with everything.
Love when these authors a write a book together, they don't half blow your mind with their writing. I would definitely recommend as the characters truly are fantastic to read about.
This is a good story. I’m a mood reader and I was struggling to read this book but I made it through and I enjoyed it. I’m off to find out Maddie’s dad’s secret.
I received an ARC of this book from @Peachykeenas and I absolutely loved it! In a non spoilers review I can say that the fast paced read of the book kept me immersed in it. I’m a slow reader but I read this book in less then 12 hours. The romances that are starting in the first book are steamy and keep you on your toes. The mystery was great and unpredictable. It has multiple point of views with Maddie’s being the main view. I’m excited to read the second one when it comes out in July!
Honestly - fuck where do I even start here? The FMC is painful. The MMC is the definition of secret hero who was trying to save her all along but in the mean time broke her heart and made her think he hated her.
& The other characters (Slade / Dexter / Beckett) are just so wishy washy and I actually feel like I know as little about all of them after reading the book than as I did from just ready the book bio.
I'm honestly intrigued as to where the twist of her knowing Beckett will come out (wait is that guys names even Beckett? - like I finished this book hours ago and I already have forgotten their names).
But like the whole story line of the car and how much it went on and on like - there was so much potential here and it just ended up in the scrap yard with her little green Kia.
I guess I really didn't read into the description of the book that much. This is a reverse harem series, which I don't mind but its not my first choice. All the reviews were 4 or 5 star. This book in my opinion was poorly written. I thought it had good potential with the first couple chapters. Then everything in the book became rushed. She had feelings for Logan for so long then quickly developed feelings for Slade then was going on dates with Beckett. I think Maddie was extremely immature but the author tried to make her badass by knowing self defense and standing up to Logan. She wanted to be involved in the investigation but she doesn't understand how dangerous it is and never comprehends that she shouldn't be involved. There was no development with the characters. When reading about the mafia, gangs, etc, I expect for the characters to be more dark, possessive, alpha and Vigil did not give off those vibes. I mean the conducted their "business" out of the college library. I stopped reading the second book about halfway in because it wasn't getting any better
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Nothing is resolved, no questions are answered and the mc is not interesting or likeable enough for me to get the next book. A little bit disapointed in what I thought was a good premise..
My review is written voluntarily after listening to the audio version of this book
Having loved The Chaos Crew which was written by Eva and Harlow when I saw this book I just knew I had to listen to it.
Madelyn is the female lead in this story, she's an interesting character, strong and determined and easy to like. The book starts two years before the main story begins when we learn about her relationship with her step-brother Logan. The main story begins when she transfers to a new campus and has her car stolen. Because the campus police wouldn't bother looking for it she goes to see The Vigil a group of guys who have helped others on campus before. She may want her car back but it's more important to her to retrieve a decorative box, all she has left of her father, which was in the glove box.
The Vigil is made up of three guys Logan, Slade and Dexter, Logan is Madelyn’s stepbrother whom she's had a crush on for years, long before their parents got together but nothing ever came of it until one night two years ago when they had sex after which he pushed her away and then cut all contact with her, giving her no explanation. Logan's reasons for this may be good but the way he did it just caused her pain. When Madelyn goes to see The Vigil to ask for their help, Logan at first tells her to go away but when she explains about the box and it's meaning to her he relents and he, Dexter and Slade agree to help her retrieve her car. But she doesn't trust Logan and insists on going along with them.
She likes both Dexter and Slade who don't know Logan's reasons for being so antagonistic towards her but they like her and want to keep her safe while they are working the case. She and Logan are at each other’s throats trying to avoid admitting their mutual feelings. Eventually, Logan tells her why he has been acting the way he has, that it was because of the danger faced due to his involvement with The Vigil and admits that he's wanted her for years too.
Beckett is a guy who wants information on the guys and plans to use Maddie to obtain it, but from their first meeting there's a mutual attraction between them is he just using her or is he developing feelings for her? Things are definitely not as they seem, there are so many secrets, some of which are revealed but not all.
This storyline is full of adventure, danger and secrets there is also a growing attraction between Maddie and Slade which turns into a slow-burn romance but there's definitely lots of chemistry between Maddie, Slade and Beckett not to mention Logan now he's come clean about his feelings. The book ends on a cliffhanger, one which left me open-mouthed along with Maddie! Fortunately, I already have the second book which I will be starting straight away, I just have to find out what Eva and Harlow have in store for our fabulous characters.
The narration of this book is wonderfully well done by the excellent Desiree Ketchum and Aaron Shedlock who bring all the characters to life.
This is the first book I have read from this author duo (but I think this is one author going by two names?) I thought I typed out my review for this. but I guess I am wrong. Anyways, first off, I'm sorry but this hangs on a cliffhanger. I gotta stop getting interested in books with duels or trilogy or a darn series. I am impatient and should just wait until the entire series is released. LOL, I digress. Anyways, this is a reverse harem. Madelyn and Logan are stepsiblings, but truth be told Maddie as a crush on Logan way before their parents go married. After going way to school Logan is beginning to distance himself from the family. His father is not understanding why and is a little sad about it, anyways, one night Madelyn catches him all bloody and a bit hurt. So, she offers to help patch him up, but is hesitant to do so, why? Anyways, one thing leads to another and they end up bumping uglies, after that one night Logan just completely ghosts her and the family for 2 years.
After two years Madelyn transfers to Logan's school in hopes to see him again and maybe find out why he has ignored her. After she is about to attend a medical conference meeting she finds her car is stolen along with an important treasure from her late father. Her roommate tells her about Vigil a vigilante group on campus that will take care of matters that the campus police will not do. So, as she walks into their office low and below who does she see but Logan. Now the fun begins in 1 finding the perpetrator(s) 2. getting answers from Logan. But, Logan is acting like she is the mud on the bottom of his shoes. Anyways, through out the book, we see Madelyn not backing down in finding out who stole her car and why are they interested in her late fathers box. Yet, I found her a little irriating and not seeing the dangers she is putting herself in. Like that saying Anything you can do I can do it better can of thing Yet, through out this journey the other 2 friends and co-hots of Logan is attracted to Madelyn as well. Who to choose? Will Logan finally tell her why, is he willing to share with his friends? Also, darn you cliffhangers!!! this ended in a dosie (is that how you spell it? ah well) Can't wait to find out the 2nd half of this..
Can’t Wait For Book Two! Fantastic Start To Series!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review
This is the Second series I have read by these two and it’s just as good as The Chaos Crew. Absolutely love the characters and story lines Eva and Harlow come up with for us. This book was full of suspense and adventure, not a single dull moment at all. It seriously kept my attention the whole time and I had a hard time putting it down.
This is Madelyn’s story and her many guy issues and her adventure with the Vigil as they solve her case involving her stolen car and a sentimental decorative box which is all she has left of her father. The Vigil are the guys you call on campus when campus and city cops are no help. Logan, Slade and Dexter are The Vigil, and Logan is Madelyn’s stepbrother who she fell hard for and after their one night together he pushed her away and cut all contact. Logan just wants to keep her safe and protect her so to him pushing her away was his only chance to do that. When Madelyn meets Dexter and Slade she finds herself attracted to both of them. And both feel the same way and want to keep her safe and in their life working the case. While her and Logan are at each other’s throats trying to avoid their attraction and feelings. Then the bad boy Beckett inserts himself into her life to try and get info on the guys and the mutual attraction between them is inevitable. Things are definitely not as they seam and everyone’s got secrets to include Maddie’s father and what his trinket box really hides.
This book is full of adventure, danger, secrets and a whole lot more. Begins a bit steamy but turns into a slow burn romance but definitely lots of chemistry between Madelyn and the guys. Ends on one heck of a cliffhanger and book two can not come quick enough to find out what Eva and Harlow have in store for our fabulous characters. Most definitely recommend this book!!!
Madelyn is settling in to college life when she gets a shock - her car has been stolen right out of a university lot. Her choices are to either report it to campus security (who will do nothing) or to report it to a group on campus who call themselves the Vigil - she goes with option two. She is double shocked to find out that her stepbrother, Logan, and two of his high school friends are the only members of the Vigil.
Though Madelyn knew Logan attended the same university, he had been totally ghosting her for two years - which was when they had had their one and only hookup. Logan seems determined to continue ignoring her, until she tells the group that a box that was the property of her deceased father was in the car. The box was important to her because it was his. They tell her they will find her car - and the box - for her, but she is not leaving that up to chance. She plans on being part of the investigation, which does not sit will with Logan. His two friends, Slade and Dexter, don't feel the same way and do their best to make sure she is included.
I don't want to spoil the story for you. It is a cliffhanger ending, so be prepared. There is a mystery about why Logan, Slade, and Dexter are so set on their crusade to get justice for students on campus and why the box that was originally the property of Madelyn's father was such a draw for them. There is also another man who is showing interest in Maddy. Beckett's initial notice of her seems to have to do with her involvement with the three guys in the Vigil, but he finds that he enjoys her company. So, stay tuned...it seems Madelyn may have four guys who want her.
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
I really enjoyed this book. It starts off with a nice and steamy scene between Maddie and Logan then all of a sudden, the book flashes forward two years – it does turn into a slow burn at that point. It’s been two years since they have seen or talked to each other. He’s been ignoring her ever since and she has no idea why. But she’s determined to find out! When her car gets stolen, she is encouraged to go find “The Vigil” which consists of three guys at her school who solve problems the campus PD either can’t or won’t. Little did Maddie know walking through their doors that Logan and his friends make up The Vigil.
Turns out, Logan is still not happy to see Maddie after their time apart. He treats her like dirt under his shoe, but she’s determined. She won’t give up until she can find out why her one-time friend/lover treats her so horribly. Maddie is fairly naïve, but she’s smart, and she can handle herself. She refuses to take anyone’s sh*t, including Logan’s. Logan’s friends – while they follow Logan’s lead usually – refuse to treat Maddie the way he does. They decide to help her. As they go they find so much more going on than just a car theft and Maddie resolves herself to figure out what’s happening. The boys are hiding things and Maddie knows it.
I really enjoyed the ride, and I can’t wait for the next book. It was fast-paced and hooked me from the beginning. The characters are all different and have unique qualities that make for great relationships. They all give Maddie something different. The multiple POV’s help to understand the guys, even Logan, a bit better and they flow seamlessly from one POV to another. This is a fun ride, and if you like taboo relationships I highly recommend this one!
He leaned forward, his lips a mere centimeter from mine. “I’m saying that you’re breathtakingly beautiful, Piccolina. You’re a masterpiece. I want to worship and appreciate you. I want you to forget about Logan for a little while and see how much you’re worth.”

⭐️: 4.5/5 🌶: 4/5

Madelyn is a tough, independent woman who just wants to study at her university and maybe run into her stepbrother who definitely didn’t factor into her decision of switching schools.
Madelyn has just transferred schools is still trying to adjust to the new curriculum when she discovers her car has been stolen. After asking around, she discovers that the best chance she has of getting her car back - and her precious box that was inside - back is to approach the Vigil and ask for their help. The Vigil is made up of three men, including her stepbrother, and after some convincing, they decide to help her out.
Logan is her stepbrother who has definitely perfected the cold-hearted jerk routine. Slade is easy-going and willing to explore the connection he has with Madelyn. Dexter is an introverted nerd who doesn’t have the best people skills. Put all three of them together and you have a vigilante group who runs their operation out of the law library.
This was just book one of the series, so we didn’t get a lot of background into each of the main characters. I’m looking forward to learning more about Slade and Dexter. And how all three started on their vigilante pathway. Also, Beckett, I’ve got my eye on you 👀
If you’re looking for a reverse harem involving a stepbrother and his two best friends, go ahead and add Savage Secrets to your TBR.
Madelyn is a college student and one night, her car has been stolen right out of a university lot. She can report it or go to this group on campus who solve things around campus they call themselves the Vigil. When she goes to the Vigil she is shocked to find her stepbrother, Logan, and two of his high school friends are the only members of the Vigil.
Logan has been ghosting Madelyn for 2 yrs after they hooked up one night. Logan ignores her until he learns what was inside the car. They tell her they will find her car - and the box - for her. But she doesn't believe them and decides to be a part of the investigation. Logan doesn't like this idea but Slade and Dexter don't see anything wrong with her helping.
There is so much more to the story and I don't want to go into too many details but there are still more questions that need answers too. There is so one else taking an interest in Madelyn and although at first, it is to find out what she knows about the guys of Vigil I see it growing. Madelyn could have her own Reverse Harlem of guys who will be a part of it and who won't. Stay tuned. Also, be warned there is a cliffhanger that shocks you and has you wanting more of this story and these guys and Maddie.
This book starts off with a little steamy scene between Madelyn and her stepbrother, Logan. After that scene, there is a two year gap where Madelyn is completely ghosted by her stepbrother. When she arrives at college, her car is stolen which forces her to turn to the Vigil which her stepbrother leads. Things are tense between Madelyn and Logan, but the other guys in the Vigil, Slade and Dexter, seem to warm up pretty quickly to her. I really like Slade's character. He brings humor to the book and adds a bit of spice with all the languages he can speak. Dexter is a bit shy so I am excited to see more of his character in the next book.
When the book started, I thought Madelyn was innocent but she is much tougher than first impressions. She is able to look out for herself among all the mystery that surrounds her and the Vigil. I wanted more scenes from Logan to see why he was being so difficult throughout the book. I know that he is trying to protect those around him but I just needed more of his POV because right now I don't like him at all!
This book is filled with mystery and just a little bit of steam. I am sure book two will get more steamy! I have so many questions after reading Savage Secrets because so many questions popped up while I was reading and most were not answered. I am excited for book 2 to get some of these questions answered!
Eva and Harlow have released the first of a new contemporary series that is shaping up to be great.
I actually spent most of the book wondering what these boys were doing playing at being some big bad protectors. Thinking they were going to get themselves killed if they kept getting themselves too involved with the real organizations in town. But they may already be more involved than I originally thought. Maybe they can hold their own. I'm excited to see what revelations the next books bring as they have obviously been keeping a lot of secrets.
Speaking of secrets, I'm pretty invested now in that little trinket box and whatever Maddie's dad was in to. It's not looking like anything good at the moment and I'm afraid Maddie has been thrown right in the middle of something bad. Hope those boys really are as big and bad as they act, so they can help her.
With small ties to some of their other series I'm curious to see if we will have any visits from other beloved characters. I'm excited to find out what is going on with the box and see Maddie put Logan in his place some more 🤣
Madelyn and her stepbrother Logan have a complicated past. After a hook up Logan ghosts Madelyn, blocks her from all his media accounts and disappears from her life. 2 years later Madelyn has transferred to the same college as Logan. After a few months her car gets stolen and her roommate suggests she go see The Vigil to have them help her find her car because campus police won’t do much. When Madelyn walks into The Vigils office she’s confronted with Logan and his two best friends Slade and Dexter. Begrudgingly Logan takes her case. He is still rude and mean to her but she doesn’t understand why. She demands to be included in the investigation and doesn’t back down. There is more to this then a stolen car, her deceased fathers trinket box was in the glove box and was missing once they found the car at a scrapyard.
I liked that this story had a little suspense and danger added to it. After their hook up it was a slow burn but the plot kept you turning the pages. Logan, Slade and Dexter have secrets that they are keeping from her.
I’m curious to find out who Beckett is in this book. Is he a hero or villain? What’s his families business? The next book can’t come fast enough.
A captivating story from its start, only in its first chapter I was hooked and literally thought that it was another story of forbidden romance type but as it progressed and within a few chapters I was surprised by the uptake of the story. Wonderful suspense with a distinct spiciness with no particular relationship thing. I loved the trajectory of the story that how well it blends around the characters. The characters are a highlight of the book, Madelyn is a gem and she surprises me in many ways at different stages of the plot. She’s a brainer and a smarty pant a** , I love her too much. The story is basically from Madelyn’s POV but we get to see different glimpses from other characters too. All the three boys are intriguing and the suspense around them is killings me, I want to know all about their dealings like when where what. Beckett is one character who I want to know more about and I keep thinking about what role is he going to have. How is he going to make Madelyn’s life, whether way easy or hard? That cliffhanger opens a lot of questions and theories.
