I listened to this audiobook to help kickstart a big purge of my things. The beginning of the book had some new ideas and motivating concepts but mid way through the end was a lot of ideas that were unrealistic in my opinion. This book did help me get started getting rid of things so in that regard it was a success.
So, basically this book says throw out everything. The writer seems pretty lonely and depressed. Mentioned numerous times that he’s single with no wife no kids, etc.. Partway through. I was thinking someone should send him a therapist.
If you are really having trouble getting Reddy things as opposed to just you too much stuff you have to go through, maybe this guy will inspire you a little bit. But really, you could just skip to the last few pages and read his list of 55 things as a recap, and then another 15 thing recap. That sums up all that you need to know in this book.

EDIT: Several days of stewing on this book have led me to change my rating from a 3 to a 3.75. It just took some time for some of the messages to really settle in.
This book was well written and had some very anchoring moments. However, some of his suggestions/methods could be seen as unsustainable in the US at least. I appreciated his use of sources to demonstrate the depth and complexity of the subject matter.
Recomendado
Interesting and persuasive little book on Japanese minimalism ; while the author does make good case probably not very practical at times ; depending where in life you are .
Also the plug on Apple being influenced by Japanese minimalism is pretty much ridiculous .
But on the whole an easy quick starter pack to decluttering life .
Being a minimalist and living a simple life, I understand your mindset. I wouldn't say I learned something new from the book since I have been on my own essentialism journey for the past 5 years. It was a good affirmation and to remember the things that I read from other books on minimalism and simple home.
I loved this book. We are in the middle of moving to a new house and I have so much “stuff” that I’ve been lugging around for decades. I’m using this move as the perfect time to purge. The new house is smaller, so we have to downsize anyway. This book is keeping me motivated.
A book on minimalism with a lot of already heard information. I felt the minimalism the book was suggesting was very extreme. The book was repetitive with the author telling us multiple times how he attached stuff with achievements and how that changed. Liked a few ideas so giving it 2 stars.
