This is book five of the Salem Supernaturals series and the main characters are Gianna, owner of a retro rock club Danger Zone and a supernatural with siren blood from a mother who deserted her at birth, and Sebastian, a wolf shifter and talented chef at Louisa’s restaurant in Salem. He has been in a relationship with Gianna for a while, with her being his fated mate, but she has serious issues with commitment and hasn’t even moved in with him, never mind allowed him to claim her as his mate through a bite! She has faced a lot of issues over the past year, especially from her siren mother, who had made a deal with demons to take over Salem, leaving them both fighting for their lives. Sebastian has his own scars from his youth in the Sacco wolf pack in the White Mountains, where the older wolves bullied and tormented him, calling him weak and leading to his life-long phobia with water. He left when he was a teenager and has never been back. When a shifter from his former pack turns up at his restaurant and wants help, he isn’t willing to help. Malcolm’s thirteen year old son Jackson has run away from the pack and Malcolm expected that he would turn up in the city and look for Sebastian.
On top of this, Gianna keeps thinking she is seeing sirens, once in the ocean outside and another time in her club! She doesn’t want to stop Sebastian going back to his pack, to take Jackson back, and to finally see his parents. After seeing what she thought was a siren she knew, connected with her mother, she awakes with part of her hair turned from red to full on white! Added to that are extra wrinkles around her eyes. The next day is even worse and she looks and feels about ninety. She is glad that Sebastian isn’t there to see her, but leaving her townhouse, she finds her mother and three other sirens waiting for her and they start taunting her straight away. It is obvious they are behind what has happened to her and whatever spell or curse has been placed on her. She calls on her best friend and witch, Nova, to see if she can help. They go to the Salem Supernatural Network to find a way to reverse this curse, but all efforts end up making things worse. Gianna has to start facing the fact she may not live for much longer, if she continues to age as fast as she has. It makes her face up to her love for Sebastian and having to say goodbye to him before she dies.
Matters have to move at a pace now, as she may not have a lot of time. She thinks Sebastian won’t want to see her or be with her as she now is, but she doesn’t fully understand the strength of the fated mate link and how he wants her, no matter what. He has his parents to face, as well as some of those bullies from his youth. He has to face his demons, but so will she as she faces her commitment fears. He will surprise her with his strength of feeling and commitment and a wedding will be occurring I the near future. Their problems with her mother and other sirens is not yet over, but it will push Sebastian to face his worst phobia to keep her safe. He may have left his pack all those years ago, but he has his own pack here now, with his roommates Diego, a vampire, and Lucas, a half dragon shifter, his mate Zoe, an elf, as well as Gianna’s best friend Nova, a witch. Together, they look out for each other and will fight to stop those trying to take Salem. A lovely wedding at the end and a fantastic honeymoon destination, with a bit of a bite to it. A great group of characters who look out for each other and are good friends. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
