Cursed of Moon is book three in a four-book shifter paranormal romance series with passionate slow-burn steam.
Krista Street loves writing about coming of age characters who fight to find their place in this world while also finding their one true mate.
Krista Street is a Minnesota native but has lived throughout the U.S. and in another country or two. She loves to travel, read, and spend time in the great outdoors. When not writing, Krista is either chasing her children, spending time with her husband and friends, sipping a cup of tea, or enjoying the hidden gems of beauty that Minnesota has to offer.
Tala is altogether an idiot. Got so sick of her and her attitude. She is outright told that the wolf had nothing to do with the attraction the man felt, that the wolf was not even in the picture on it until after the wolf got her scent. Yet she tries to use her newly acquired wolf’s behavior to justify her continued idiot thinking on that. It takes her sister, really?, for her to stop and see how stupid her thinking is? Tala continued to tell someone else how their feelings were, where their feelings came from. She continue to be absolutely dismissive of his feelings, and really, the feelings of an entire species, that she obviously knows very little about, but tries to tout her having all this knowledge on. Oh, she would have a super huge bratty fit, if that was done to her. It got so old, it was overused, and went against the previously written establishment of her supposedly being the practical, straight forward, intelligent one. More and more I did not see it. And even after being fully mated, RIGHT after she thinks to herself, “ perhaps would one day even grow to love me, and even though it would always be because of the bond and would never be because it was truly real, I was willing to accept that.“ SERIOUSLY! Done. With. Her. She goes on shortly later to tell another she was talking to “I hired him to find my sister,” I cut in. “And apparently, his wolf took a liking to me.” SHE WAS TOLD AT LEAST TWICE BY THE MAN THAT HE WAS INTERESTED, WOLF NOT UNTIL LATER! Why must she have been written to be so asinine and stay that way?! Everything not told her is deemed a secret that was kept from her by Kaillen. He didn’t tell her that he picked up the magical cuffs that were placed on her and him, and turned them over to the investigating agency. So what? How was that a secret he kept from her? Just plain stupid, and extremely ridiculous. Fools rush in. There’s that saying for a reason and Tala is that fool. Repeatedly. Jakub has gotten to her three times, but because she wants this over with, yeah I get it, I’d want the same, the difference, I’d want all the information I could gather instead of devising a hare-brained plan. Not Tala, and Kaillon, a seasoned hunter, just goes along with it, though he knows far more than she? Really? Along with the two seasoned assassin friends of his? Again, really? So when things go wrong, I wanted her dumb tail to get snatched again, which was very obvious would happen. “It took everything in me not to lash out at him and kill him once and for all, but I couldn’t, not yet. I needed to know what his endgame was, why he was doing this.“ - if he is dead, game over, what do you you need to know his endgame for? Had she listened to Kaillen and killed him quickly… Bottom line, Tala is not the strong, sensible one initially written to be. Her character sadly falls into the realm of cliche. Unoriginal. Disappointing. And there’s another book. A bit of credit that there seems to be a smidgen of character growth from her, but it’s tainted by what she continues to think and how she acts. Thankfully she does seem to develop some resolve, wish it originated from her instead of Kaillen.
Oh boy. Plot went really crazy at the end and it ruined it!
So Tala is still fleeing the evil Jakub, who wants her as a key. She’s also still fighting the mating call of Kaillan (For some bizarre reason.) Tala learnt in book 2, that when Kaillan gave her blood to save her life, he turned her into a wolf. Tala spends most of the flaming book, complaining about her wolf, and trying to control her. Instead of trying to work with her.
In book one I really struggled with Tala until nearly the end. In book two, she annoyed me with her constant ‘Oh gods.’ In this book she says it even more!!! 🤬🤬🤬 All the way through book one and two she says that she can’t be with Kaillan, as she doesn’t believe in mates, or that it’s proper love. In this book, her sister tells her that mates are real to wolves. So Tala COMPLETELY REVERSES ALL HER OPINIONS BECAUSE HER SISTER TOLD HER TO!! Wow! She’s so weak!!!
The plot at the end of the book just doesn’t make sense!! And it ruined it for me. I was so angry at the plot that I’m not sure I’ll read book four.
Tala is so arrogant in her abilities, that she creates a stupid plan to catch and kill Jakub. It’s so obvious that it’s going to go wrong. So of course he captures her, and uses her as a key to open a portal to another planet. 😱😱😱 In the process, her wolf is killed, and Kaillan turns his back on her!!! 😡😡😡😡 So after the last three books of him reassuring Tala that it’s not just his wolf that wants and loves her, he turns his back on her when she needs it the most!!! Aaaaaaaargh!!! Wtf??? His wolf said she was his mate well before she had a wolf. So why does he turn his back on her? It doesn’t make sense!!
I’m going to push through and give book 4 a chance because I’m committed now, but this was a miss for me. The first book was so good and the second wasn’t my favorite but it was okay. The third dragged so badly. Tala was stubborn about Kaillen for so long for no good reason. They finally got together just for him to drop her like a hot potato after she gets kidnapped because her wolf gets killed??? She had just been through a traumatic experience and the loss of her own wolf and he just left her for days!? Didn’t even make sure she was okay. Then comes back and never even freaking apologizes. Deadass says, i know I ghosted you but “that was then and this is now”. HELLOOOOO. I lost all interest in him as an MMC. I know it’s not going to happen but after he did her like that I’d rather the author introduce a whole different MMC in the last book. 😭

My husband sat making fun of me for crying over a book. I am heartbroken over what happened to Tala. My dog licked my tears for me. This book was freaking amazing. I need to know what happens between Tala and Kaillen. I can't wait for the last book. Krista does not disappoint. Definitely give her books a try.
Gahh I was LOVING this book and just eating it up until the last 10%. I’m going to come back and write my review later once I’ve come down from that ending.
The series started out really strong. Tala has taken a turn for me though. Her refusal of accepting Kaillen got completely annoying, aggravating, predictable, etc.... The issue was too repetitive. Making her look weak in the process.
Storyline was slower than the first two books. Found myself putting it down and picking it up several times. Even read some books in between.
I was loving it… up until the end. Yeah, the end gutted me, but then it was supposed to.
I loved the two newest characters we meet- Kaillen’s friends from the far realm are a breath of fresh air and bring moments of lightness to what becomes a very heavily-laden cliffhanger as we finally have an inkling of who and what the Bone Eaters are.
In fact, the only thing that bugged me about this book was Tala’s insistence on calling villain Jakub “Jakub-Dipshit” constantly in both thought and words. It got annoying fast and just made her suddenly seem childish rather than an adult to me.
Forget that… I also feel emotionally manipulated as we spent time with a character that became disposable and used to steer the plot in a way that was actually contrary to what was established back in the first book. We KNOW Kaillen’s wolf was insisting Tala was his mate after she dropped her cloaking spell that masked her scent, but now the author would have us believe it happened after events in book 2?
Which ties into Tala seriously struggling with was it Kaillen or his wolf that instigated the relationship. It’s a valid thing to question though, so it shouldn’t have bothered me as much as it did. For a gal who has been strong and confident to this point, it did seem like a weakness during the reading.
I suppose if that’s the worst I can say about it then that’s pretty darn good, right?
We have more Tessa here, and she’s still annoying, but she did show some redeeming qualities this time around, so I couldn’t get on her too much.
Do I want to read the final book still? Yes, but it’s with reluctance. Why, when it’s sure to get a HEA ending before it’s through? Well, I know it’s going to be a lot of heartache before I reach that end that I’m not looking forward to.
Still… it’s not without some trepidation and some serious doubts that all can be made well that I am now moving to the final book.
Ok the first book had promise but then it became obvious, annoying, and repetitive. But I figured keep going maybe that was just book two.
The author did everything to keep characters from actually communicating to the point I just couldn’t give a crap about their storyline and did everything to make the fmc a very very special snowflake.
Problem is I got bored and annoyed by all that so I went to look at others reviews and got some spoilers. I don’t even care about that, in fact it was just enough to keep the common themes from book one alive and sounds like it ramps up all the complaints I have had.
I personally can not keep slogging through not do I want too. So I am not.
This could have been great but it really is just the author throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks and I hate it.
I tried to finish this book I really did. I got 78 percent of the way and I dnf. My problem is the fmc Inner Monologue is just constantly being horny but then mad that Kaillen didn’t immediately love her. Like the whole second book was just her being insecure and it bled into this one. The plot isn’t enough to keep me going. The series is just dragging on and it’s just all filler. The action is weak, the plot is weak. The spice is mid.
I was loving it. Tala is a struggle to read and sometimes I felt like her decisions didn’t make sense… almost like she was just a lost teenager or something, making horrible life decisions.
The whole mating thing, in every direction was just getting to be… ridiculous.
They were mates before she changed into a wolf. His wolf was wild for her and chose her before she changed. I simply just don’t understand the decision for them to loose their mating bond because her wolf is gone. THEY WERE MATES BEFORE HER WOLF!! They just didn’t finish the mating bond until she was a wolf… This is where she lost me a little. To just destroy the entire bond because little miss girl has problems with understanding that the attraction isn’t just the wolf!?!? So kaillen is just going to be fighting his wolf the entire time and be a demon lord so he can be with her… biggest eye roll. Oh yes so romantic. For a person to just fight who they are the entire time their with you.

Well damn! Didn’t see that coming at all. How on earth are you fixing this situation Krista! I just have a feeling it’s getting worse before it gets better! Rooting for a HEA in book 4 and that Cameron gets his ass whooped by karma!
We are now on the third book in the series. I'm not sure, but I think there are only going to be 4 books (and the last book is not out until October 2022 - it is currently Aug 2022) so there is going to have to be a lot of things tied up for before we get a conclusion.
Without going into spoilers, the story has changed its focus to almost completely being a story between Tala and Callan (the Fire Wolf). Or at least, they are the main focus for a lot of it. Tala has begun to learn more and more about...yes, you got it...her "forbidden power" as well as a new and even more dangerous power that she discovered. She is working with Callan to try to figure out how to use it because it is that unique and deadly. They are also still trying to find the ultimate "Bad guy" who was the person that kidnapped her sister in the first place. Apparently, he has been kidnapping supernatural's and DESPERATELY wants Tala to add to his collection. He (the bad guy Jacob) calls her his "Key".
Now we have several forces working together to try to find Jacob, but Tala is having to be held in a safe house separate from her sister and her loved ones. Fortunately, (or is it?) that place is with Callan, who has definitely decided that Tala is his mate.
Here is where I REALLY had issues. Tala's behavior towards Callan just annoyed the heck out of me. Make up your mind. You don't want him because you're his mate? Because you think that he ONLY wants you because his wolf wants you? I get that in certain circumstances, I really do. But the events that have already occurred and the events occurring now are different and that makes the entire situation different. At least TALK to the guy. Tell him your concerns. If I were him, I would have left you a while ago to your own devices, or taken you to your sister, but what do I know?
The ending of this book showcases how far the writing has come from the beginning of the series. The world building has become more complete, the characters are more fleshed out and the story arc is definitely growing to its climax.
There is also an event at the end of this book that is heartbreaking. Certain people (*cough cough* you know who you are) behave badly, but the actions are plausible and while not necessarily okay, sort of understanding. In the grand scheme of things there is a lot going on. That is not necessarily an excuse, but jeez people...learn to communicate better.
In the beginning (during the first 2 books), I was continuing with the series, but I wasn't necessarily hooked. Now - I am completely looking forward to the ending of this series and will be eagerly awaiting the 4th and final book.
3.75 ⭐️ well this was still good, and a lot of information packed into a short 350 pages, the pacing felt slightly off compared to the previous few books.
We start back with Tala still being mad at Kaillen for not telling her that due to the blood bond he’d forced on her she was now going to turn into a werewolf. She does in fact turn into a wolf, and while she’s learning to come to terms with now having a wolf to compete with inside her, and asserting dominance over the wolf, her and Kaillen finally complete their mating bond. While meeting some of Kaillens assassin friends, they agreed to help them hunt Jakub, the boss of the crime syndicate trying to kidnap Tala for her powers. After another unsuccessful kidnap attempt by Jakub, Tala convinces Kaillen to trick Jakub in an attempt to kill him. Jakub see his right through this, finally kidnapping Tala successfully, he takes her to a warehouse that has many other trapped supernatural beings in it. They all have the weird constellation tattoo, and attack her, forcing power through her an unknown realm is opened through a portal. Kaillen and the authorities track her down, she is injured by magic that comes through the mysterious portal and her wolf is killed inside her. Jakub is captured and interrogated and Kaillen is fighting his wolf’s desire to be alone forever now his mate (Talas wolf) is dead.
The first half of this book seems to take forever, considering it’s still less than 400 pages. The reason it feels like it takes forever is because of Tala and her inability to accept the mating bond, because she believes Kaillen doesn’t want her, only his wolf does. This was annoyingly long winded. The internal monologue becomes monotonous and draining considering the only two topics Tala can really think about is how she doesn’t agree with the mating bond and Jakub. It makes her hard to listen to through a portion of the book. After she finally accepts the mating bond and they claim each other, her personality improves a lot. She’s a lot more relaxed and easier to digest through her internal narrative. It’s nice to see some interaction with secondary characters, particular Fallon and Barnabas, Kaillens friends. Tala being incredibly headstrong moves into the plan to lure Jakub to them without much consideration to the fact it might not work. Then she’s surprised that it doesn’t work and she’s captured. This felt pretty predictable. When we learn at the end that her extra powers seem to come from the uncovered realm opened during the fight with Jakubs supernatural beings, she finally starts freaking out and realising that maybe not everything is as easy to piece together. I think this shows a good amount of character development. We once again go back to the never-ending narrative of Kaillen not wanting her, only his wolf. It was nice to see him and put her in her place, and her finally start to believe that he wants her not just his wolf. I think this shows the most amount of character development we’ve seen from Tala. It will be interesting watching her work through her connection to this new world, and the powers she’s got from it.
Kaillen softened a lot through this book, only for Tala. Well she thinks all of his feelings are just related to his wolf wanting her wolf, the writing puts across suddenly yet straightforward that in fact he does have feelings for her outside of his wolf’s mating bond. While it’s not something that is heavily pressed, and you do have to look for some of the subtext, as long as you’re reading it thoroughly it is obvious that he does have feelings for her. The amount of care and protection that shown from Kaillen to Tala after the mating bond is really beautiful. He softened significantly, he’s fiercely protective and willing to give her almost anything she wants. It’s really nice to see given that a lot of the previous books have talked about what an arsehole and a womaniser he’s been. It was really nice point Kaillens storyline and character development getting to see him interact with people he considers friends. Given he seen at the start of the series as much of a lone wolf, I think this was a significant and important development to his character. When his actions at the end come across as it was his wolf wanting to be with Talas wolf the whole time, I was pretty heartbroken. When he comes back around and tells her that he wants her, not just his wolf wants her wolf, it was a little confusing as to why he behaved the way that he did regardless of how his wolf was feeling, because he then goes on to say that he is in control not the wolf.
It’s nice to see a few secondary characters added in here through Falon and Barnabas. Well, it’s not 100% giving found family vibes for Tala I think there’s definitely room for the found family vibes to grow, and they added an enjoyable amusement to secondary characters.
Tessa does somewhat redeem herself through this book. While she’s still scatterbrained and seemingly uncaring, at the same time we do start to see a bit more involvement from her character, which is giving a good level of support for Tala, something that the writing has explained well hasn’t necessarily happened before.
The pace of this book feels a little slower than the previous two. Given the previous two there was more action at the same time as character in relationship development, this book is focusing on development of Talas characteristics rather than developing her relationships and character as a whole.
The world building has extended more here, which has been enjoyable. We get to see another couple of realms including the Fae realm and a nice dip into the mysterious realm that’s built through the portal, it will be interesting to see the development in the next book.
The ending is jampacked with information, we learned that the bone eaters Talas dead mother warned her about our in fact real, giving reasons to why she was supposed to hide her powers for all these years. We also learned that Talas powers come from the new rail accessible through the portal, it will be interesting to see how this links back to Tala and her powers.

I came to this series after reading Fae of Snow and Ice, while that series wasn’t a literary masterpiece either, at least it was readable with some depth in the plot. This series is so repetitive and drawn out. If I had a dollar for every time Tala brought up Kaillen’s wolf being the only reason for his interest in her, I’d be Bill Gates.
And then after ALL that torturous redundancy of getting her accept the mate bond - IT GOES AWAY. I cannot. The only reason I’ve continued to read if my stubbornness of having to finish series when I start it. But WOOF.

I loved the first book and enjoy the second, but I couldn’t finish this book. I made it to 37% and I just could not handle Tala anymore. Her constantly telling Kaillen what his feelings were and what he was feeling was just grating. I understand the author was having her go through many things at once, but I just found her to be bratty.
I couldn't finish this I got bored I'm tired of her running away and being upset and just making excuses for everything while also being the most powerful person in the world it was just not good
For the most part I liked this one, and I’m intrigued by the plot and mystery that’s been surrounding Tala since the first book.
There were some improvements in Tala and Kaillen’s relationship, as we get to see Tala finally accept the bond as well as the new presence of her wolf, even with her reservations about Kaillen being driven by his wolf and thinking that’s the only reason he was interested in her. That was actually one of my biggest frustrations, that we had Tala still agonizing over this same issue in much the same manner, but when she changed her perspective of the mate bond after Tessa reminded her that the bond is real for all the other happy mates werewolves, I was like FINALLY.
I appreciated that Kaillen was trying to help Tala feel more secure about it, but it was difficult because Tala just didn’t believe him when he told her that he’d been interested in her even before his wolf took notice. I do think he could have chosen better words for telling her, lol. But he really put in effort into trying to be open with her and was honest about him likely messing up even in the future since he’s not used to it. We did get to see them learn to communicate a bit better over the course of the book, which I also liked. The ending had me feeling a bit proud of Kaillen because he’s doing that right at least and is showing that he wants to fight for Tala, since he cares about her and wants her, which is the baseline of what Tala deserves. I hope they’ll continue improving at communicating in the next (and final) book.
I’m eager to learn how the Bone Eaters play into everything, what Tala’s heritage is and how she’s got this power, and what this means for the future for her and Kaillen (the description on Forged of Bone has me on the edge of my seat because I’m anxious even though I trust Krista Street to give them their HEA). I’m so sad about the loss of Tala’s wolf already, though, when she had so little time and had just gotten around to coexisting well with her wolf. 🥺 and Kaillen’s poor, confused wolf who knows his wolf mate is dead. That hurt my heart.
I hope we get the next book much sooner than October! I love all the sweet moments we got between Kaillen and Tala and I hope we get some more (and not just the angst because I want them to be all cute and happy and bantering again).

For over half the book the main Tala continued to stick to the cold hard notion that the love she was feeling for Kaillin wasn't real. Manufactured by the wolves they shared. She kept running from what was staring her in the face. It was more than annoying and kept bringing me out of the romance itself. Like I needed to yell at her every time they shared a moment together.
The things that broke my heart was the ending. I won't give away the main story, but I will say that the death of her wolf and Kaillin's sudden detachment had me screaming at him for once.
I wasn't convinced for a moment that their romance was entirely controlled by their wolves. The worry I had was that Krista Street had intended for that to be the case. It would have broken my heart if it were true. I will give the author another point for getting me to worry about it.
I actually let out a sad (bark? hiccough?) noise when Kaillin told Tala that he didn't care what his wolf felt. That he knew she was still here despite his wolf's mourning, and though I am saddened by the loss of this connection between the two I find there relationship to be meaningful. That conversation with them at the end was a small beautiful moment, that in this readers opinion captures the essence of love.
Being in love takes strength, resilience, compromise, and patience. These factors can be found in Tala and Kaillins relationship. That realistic feel is what is going to push me through the final book.
A lot of this book was exposition, and learning. Connecting the two main characters and then ripping them apart. Getting ready for the end of their journey. I do hope that through all this Bone Eater stuff and Tala being otherworldly that they can come back from this painful experience and come together. I also hope to finally get some acceptance from Tala.
*This book would have been done sooner, but I ended up distracted by life lol*

This has been my fav book of the series so far! I’m glad that kaillen and tala finally got together. Yasss! It was cool to read about tala shifting for the first time. The journey to the fae lands was beautiful and exciting. The portal to the new universe has been opened and that’s a weird plot twist but I guess it makes sense with tala having powers no one really understands. Kaillen’s devotion to tala is sweet and endearing. But in the end, it’s sad that her wolf died or has gone missing or whatever. You can feel the despair from kaillen that her wolf is gone. I would say this book is a solid 3.6, rounded up to 4. At times the plot seemed to be slower in advancing. But, I feel like the portal to the other universe is finally answering some questions I’ve had throughout the whole series. Who are the bone eaters? What are Tala’s strange powers? Hopefully there is enough of a foundation between tala and kaillen to continue a relationship. If not, what was the point in this whole series?? Seriously, something’s gotta give. I would have loved more interaction with her bestie, Prisha. She’s a good character and her inner thoughts and feelings say she is close to her but the scenes in the book don’t actually show them together. I would have liked more of that. There’s also the loose end of kaillens brother Cameron giving Tala to Jakub’s men. I know that’s gonna need to be resolved. Will he actually kill his brother? Who is this Jakob character? Hopefully the fourth and final book will answer all of my lingering questions. Here we go!

Do NOT get me wrong, I LOVE Krista Street’s writing ✍🏼 but this was probably my least favorite in the Supernatural Curse series. While I was entranced by the plot line and the many twists and turns, Tala was a bit…umm…annoying? 🫠
While I was very pleased with the many secrets that were unraveled (and let’s talk about that CLIFFHANGER 🤯), the majority of the book I felt like Tala was always questioning Kaillen’s feelings. I completely understand and respect the premise of insecurity, but it did seem a bit repetitive. The fact that her sister brought her back from the edge was a nice element, though, since we haven’t seen a lot of support on Tessa’s end.
I was super excited to meet some new (and very fun) characters in this installment, Barnabas being my favorite 😉 Not to mention, seeing Tala utilize her power in new ways, and learning more about her abilities was really refreshing. As a reader, it was so stressful not knowing what Tala was capable of for so long, but I was very surprised with the way that her power manifested. The most shocking piece was the death of her wolf 🐺 which completely broke my heart 💔 I was so sad to see her beautiful creature dissipate with the new portal.
Now, the real fun comes next, in “Forged in Bone,” when we will finally learn the depth of Kaillen’s feelings for Tala and her reaction to his choice…🦴 Personally, I’m thinking that Tala is finally going to realize that Kaillen loved her from the start, wolf or not…😉
